MILLBURY, MA PetSmart Grooming Salon This review is only for Emily M. I want to warn other dog parents to stay clear of her at all costs. Caylee, Sadie, and Danielle (No longer there she opened her own grooming salon) are fabulous. Caylee does a beautiful job on our standard poodle. Sadie and Danielle groomed our late toy poodle. We were always thrilled! Caylee had to cancel our appointment, so we booked Emily because the man that called recommended her. We bring our dog to be groomed every month, so when Emily made the snotty comment that she was a mess when we dropped her off yesterday, I KNEW that she wasn't very good. I mean for goodness sakes, we bring her more often than most people. Were you trying to cover up that you do a terrible job? Caylee never makes rude comments and makes her look like a beautiful princess. Emily hacked her. She shaved her tail without permission. It looks like a RAT'S long shaved tail!! I have never seen anything so terrible. Emily, how dare you! You should be ashamed of yourself. If you had called I would have told you that we would come and get her and don't you dare shave her tail! Yes, we will go back when Caylee can groom our little girl again. Stay away from pet grooming at this location. Horrible customer service and they just do not care. Will cancel appointments an hour before your appointment and will come up with some ridiculous excuses for the cancelation. Reading through the rest of the comments, looks like am not the only one who experienced a horrible service. Funny part is, nobody from the management or owners care to fix the problems. Took my 11 month old Shihpoo in on march 1, 2024. Arabella was the groomer. She seemed ok but now that I look back I can see that it would not be. My little Fenway cowered behind me when she approached and he is normally a friendly dog. That should have stopped me there. I knew he was matted and it would take longer. She said it would be 4-5 hours. I explained to her that he is still very much a daddy's boy so please break up the session if need be. She called at 12:45 and said to come and pick him up. As I expected he was anxious to see me. I expected him to be cold since he was used to a lot of fur. It wasn't until the next day I saw the trauma she had inflicted on him. He was scared, cold, itchy and constantly licking his scrotum. By 3/4 his penis was enlarged. taking him to the Vet, we found he had an infection in his scrotum and he still shied away from people. He is now scared of his leash and will always cower away from strangers. I don't know what she did to him but I will never recommend Petsmart groomers again. read more

Fish lady up in there is very concerned for those fishes. Holy cow just sell me the fish that I WANT! You are so worried about overcrowding but yet the fish u sell swim in a 5-10 gallon tank and there's 20+ fishes. Some Tanks even more. U rather talk someone out of buying something or tell them some BS. Ended up buying the fish she recommended (because the goldfish were sick) and my tank isn't BIG enough and our fish we already had got ick and died. I was pleasantly surprised at the atmosphere and the greeting., very different from one of their other locations. My father has brought the Maine Coon kitty (Buddy) he rescued to Brien at Pet Smart grooming twice in the past few months for fur and nail trims. Buddy is very strong and doesn't enjoy being held, let alone having his fur and nails trimmed - lol! Brien and his staff help Buddy relax, know how to gently, but firmly hold him, and it's over before he knows it. It's also very easy to make appointments and they have great hours. Courtney is unprofessional and lazy. Nothing to say about the other groomers, other Petsmart Salons, or Petsmart services. And I respect that they have policies to protect themselves and their workers. My dog had an appointment about 4-5 weeks back that was cancelled because they found matting/hotspot. No issue with that and he was shaved and taken care of by our vet. So our dog had an appointment this week and I got a call from Courtney early in the week asking about his matting (first of all, why would we have not taken care of it??), so I told her it was all taken care of and shaved (4-5 weeks ago). Couple days after, I walked in here the day before my actual appointment because I got the days mixed up. I overheard Courtney complaining to the other groomers that another groomer never had to work and never took on more work when they had cancellations and how she (Courtney) wanted to work less. Ok...I guess? The next day, I brought my dog in for his appointment. During check in, Courtney felt around for matting and etc for a good 5mins. Called in another groomer to check him saying that he has matting, but the other groomer just said no, it's just packing in the back because he has a lot of fur back there. So the other groomer leaves and she pats him down for another 5 mins or so. During this time I had informed her that my dog got neutered three weeks ago and was just cleared by the vet and that he had some "body glue that should fall off soon." So ok she takes him... 20 mins later she calls me to pick him up because of the body glue, which she called scabbing. Ok, company policy blah blah blah... I get it. The whole thing left me feeling like Courtney didn't want to work... no matter what. And from what I have seen, she does no work because she has a lot of spots left for appointments and is always sitting there when you walk in. read more

On March 15, 2022, I had the worst experience at the PetSmart salon in Northborough, MA. I arrived on time with my dog for her 10:00 am grooming appointment (made three weeks prior). After waiting a while for someone to acknowledge us at the salon desk, a worker walked up and said, "Patrick (presumably the groomer) isn't here, so we're not gonna be able to take you today. Someone should have called you." I agreed that someone should have called me, but no one had. She did not apologize, ask if I wanted to reschedule, or even proffer a coupon for the inconvenience. She provided nothing but a very dismissive and angry attitude. When I asked to reschedule, she shrugged and said, "We're booking 3-4 weeks out." When I asked again to reschedule, she said, "I'll have someone come to the desk and do that for you." She walked into the back and closed the door. I waited approximately ten minutes, but no one came, so I left. This is one of the most unpleasant and unprofessional experiences I've had, and I am incredibly disappointed in PetSmart. Pure laziness from their groomer Arabelle; she took one look at our big dog who has been here many times before and said he had too much under fur and it will take 6 hours (which is the same amount of time as it always takes) but wanted to charge us twice as much as the other groomers that work there charger us. That doesn't seem like a fair policy for the customer or the other groomers that work there. Why does she get to charge $300 while they charge $160 for the same dog?? Bad grooming customer service! Usually I go to PetSmart in Millbury and PetCo in Auburn. They are very nice with my dog Samoyed, but this time they are full book appointment so I have to take my dog go to this place PetSmart In Northborough. First when I got in the grooming, a young lady with nice Christmas clothes stand at the counter grooming , I say Hi How are you? But she didn't answer ! And then she ask Who is it? With the rudest voice and loud and then she request us to take everything out of my dog, she don't even want to touch my dog or say hi or stand close to him or pet him because she just like a princess don't want to do her job. But after all She said she can't take my dog and not available for him ( I have appointment w her) I know my dog is puppy with so much energy but she is the one not friendly with us first! We have been bringing our dog here for three years, but we're done. Incredibly disappointed and frustrated with our dog's last two grooming appointments. Last time he came home looking like the clippers used were not sharp enough, his coat was rough and uneven. We gave them another try because we've been customers for a while now and we understand things happen. This last time? Just awful. His coat is completely uneven, and they did not shave the areas I specifically requested be shaved. His nails still click when he walks and you can tell they were barely touched. So why did we get charged for a nail grind? I wanted to tell them to make it right... but when your dog has already been at the groomers for 4 and 1/2 hours (first appointment of the day BTW) and he's already seen you, its tough to hand him back over for more torture (he calls it that, not me). I would have given only 1 star but they ARE really nice to him, and he used to get better cuts there, back before they raised their prices. Guess it's just time for a new groomer. read more

On December 9 at 1:16 pm I called this business. I have a really sick dog and need to check to see if a prescription dog food was available. The girl that answered the phone put the phone down and never came back. After 2 minutes I hung up and called back at 1:19. This time the girl answered the phone and immediately hung up on me. It was the rudest exchange I had ever encountered. I was standing in a different PetSmart location while I was making this call. They did not have what I needed and suggested that the Northborough location might have the product. Northborough was a 30 minute drive for me and I didn't want to go there unless they had the product. I would never go to this store now. read more

I'm beyond done buying fish from this PetSmart location. They always die within a few hours and they usually replace them however the woman who was doing my return refused to replace my fish and actually refused to sell me any more fish. even though I've had fish tanks for years and I know exactly how you're supposed to set them up. Every time I go in to buy a fish they grill you on how big your tank is, what's in the tank and how long it's been running. I understand the concern but how are you going to set up a tank if it sits there for days with nothing in it? You need to put the fish in the circulate the water. Never coming here again, I will make the effort to drive to a different location because every other PetSmart I've been to is better than this one and they don't grill you about your tanks and they actually know what they're doing, unlike this location. read more

The rudest groomers anywhere. Asked me why I would want a long haired dog if I wanted my dogs hair cut short." Perhaps you shouldn't have gotten that breed if you can't take care of them." I was told my dog had a mat on his ear and his whole body would need to be shaved! I explained that other groomers have used conditioner and the mats brush out. My dog has very curly hair that is thick and requires a deep conditioner. I was belittled because my dog had a little dirt in her ears. " don't you clean them?!!" they tried to sell me all kinds of things my dogs didn't need. I immediately left, with my dogs, and went to another groomer who said all my dog needed was a good shampoo and conditioning treatment followed by brushing. No need for him to be shaved. It is much easier to shave a dog than to take the time to brush them. Petsmart is about money . Period. Not about the pets as it should be. We will never bring our dogs here again and we will be telling everyone we know about this awful place and the service they provide. Perhaps Petsmart should do some customer service training with their employees.? I know the grooming department would benefit from it. I am never taking my pup here again. I brought my little pup for a grooming, and when I picked him up he was not the same. He was sore and wouldn't let me hold him. I know he had just received a vaccine a few days before, but this was not like him. He wouldn't let me pick him up or touch him, and it was a location far from where he got his vaccination. I spoke with the manager who basically tried to blame the vaccine, but I spoke with my vet at length, and things did not add up. I will never take my pet here again. Lesson learned. Addendum: I am not making any straightforward accusations, however, I am just saying that I love my little pup like he was my child, and I guess I would never take my child to a random place and drop him off for a haircut/ grooming. read more

First of all I asked for customer service because there was no one on the fish area so when the blonde lady came I told her I want two gold fish they were 18cents per fish and she ask me what size of tank I have and I said a small one and she said that I will need a big tank for this kind of fish and I told her that I'm still getting the fish, she said give me a min she left and when she came back she told me a fake story about why couldn't she sell me the fish. Do not Patronize this company or facility. I brought my dogs to be groomed here. As always, I give one of our dogs a mild sedative to calm her down. Once I said I had given her sedative (which is prescribed by the Vet) they refused to treat both dogs. Attempts to be reasonable with the management failed. They stuck to their corporate line. Unclear why they refused to groom my other dog who didn't have a sedative. It just reinforces in my mind that it is better off patronizing a smaller shop where you have a personal relationship with the groomer. read more

I was a walk-in customer and had my dog nails trimmed and he doesn't like it. Prior trims were done with a muzzle or cone. This trip they were able to clip his nails without constraints. One groomer clipped while another groomer distracted him. Great Job! read more

I brought my puppy in today for a full grooming, nails cut and grind. I asked for A half inch off her coat and instead I got a very bad full haircut, along with very bad nail cutting, and some mean comments. Her nails look like they were trying to find the veins and in doing so found it MANY MANY times. They look like she went through some pain. the person who cut her hair said "when she learns how to sit better, we'll give her a better haircut" EXCUSE ME???? If that's the case then I would have preferred you not cut her hair at all. I could have done what she did myself. A very janky haircut. The associates name is Taylor S. And let it be known she will never touch my puppy again. She said she needs to train my dog to be pulled by her beard so she can get a better haircut. Yea i don't think so. Also when I booked it said it would be a $15 puppy all inclusive grooming and instead I pay $50. I will never ever be coming back here nor will my puppy. This was the first and last time I will go to PetSmart. Initially groomer asked me if I "didn't mind paying extra for a nail clip than advertised". I said, of course I did and showed her the sign right on her counter which was lower than her quote. Then negligent groomer hung my dog in front of me and my wife! I define this as: My dog's four legs were off of the grooming table and she was hanging freely with a noose around her neck. Groomer was reckless and wasn't watching the dog or what she was doing. Groomer's immature behaviors escalated to mad-at-the-world from her outward body language and verbal frustration with some unknown situation. All we wanted was to have our dog's nails clipped. Situation turned into a drama-queen episode. To be fair, I am not suggesting the groomer maliciously hung my dog. But she was extremely negligent and unprofessional. Sort of like the difference between manslaughter and 1st degree homicide. The outcome is the same. Northboro Store Manager referred situation to the corporate "Incident Department". She said they were "pretty quick and I should have a call back probably within the week". Reality was that no one called me back from Corporate. I called corporate offices a dozen+ times and was assured someone would call me back from the Incident Department. Still no replies from corporate. Are there so many incidents" at PetSmart that their Incident Department is overwhelmed? Why couldn't they contact me from Oct 20 to Dec. 4? (or) Were they just giving me a classic insensitive corporate blowoff? They sent me to their Millbury, MA store next day (they refused to reimburse me for my time or gas "per company policy") to see their affiliated vet. Vet did hands-on neck examination. Vet said she "did not have the necessary diagnostic equipment machines to give a definitive answer to my concern of hidden discs or vertebrae issues. On December 4, the Northboro Manager said that the Vet couldn't find any injuries to my dog. Posturing, Posturing, Posturing. Seems company culture is to rope-a-dope disgruntled customers. For example, no Associate at the Northboro location would tell me the last name of their store Manager because "they were instructed not to".I asked for names of corporate people assigned to my case. Was denied. I asked for direct phone number of Incident Department. Denied. I asked for District Manager to call me. Denied. I asked for the name of District Manager. Denied. Seems like anytime I wanted to protect my dog's health that these people put up a huge communication and corporate posturing wall that apparently consisted of verbal bovine cow manure. Go to their website. I dare you to find an email address or phone number for the CEO. I thought that it would be found at least under investment section per SEC requirements. Seems to me the man does not want customers to tell him about his company. This is a sign of poor leadership in my investor opinion. I suggest selling any shares you may own quickly or never buy them other than to sell them "short" I tried to be reasonable with an unreasonable company. All I asked was that they pay for an electronic diagnostic test to make sure my dog's spine or discs were not ruptured by the groomer's negligence. How can a PetSmart Affiliated Vet see these type issues? I have been in auto accidents and have some herniated discs . No physician could see them without an electronic diagnostic test. I assume dogs are no different. The Northborough Store Manager said they "would pay for damages that were directly caused by their groomer" . Yet they will not pay for an imaging test for their negligence that my wife and I saw first hand?. What a verbal rope-a-dope. No where in any conversation did the store manager deny that the groomer was on a negative immature rant that day nor that my dog was hung due to her negligence. I don't recall an empathic word regarding my dog's health. Feels like the PetSmart culture just can't do the right thing. My wife told a co-worker the story. The coworker said that a Petsmart Groomer cut her dog's nails so short that it had to be rushed to a vet just to stop the bleeding. I encourage others to come forward with their groomer horror stories as well. In my view, the big problem appears to be is lack of groomer training, poor hiring practices, and that this location can't find or keep qualified people willing to work for their decided low wages in comparison to the cost-of-living. Sadly, groomers in this state aren't licensed. Man's best friend is getting the short end of the stick. May I suggest that you sell any stock you may have in this company and take your pet to a vet for services. Shy away from doing business with these large type corporate pet groomers It appears this company is too big. The left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. I have been buying prescription cat food here for 4 years I have a prescription for unlimited refills from my veterinarian however PetSmart makes me get a card from their hospital which I have no affiliation with that always expires in 6 months so it constantly has to be renewed which is a major inconvenience! Today because I didn't have my prescription with me they wouldn't renew it so I couldn't get my cat food ! Guess what PetSmart I will buy my food now from Chewy. Once my dog came out all stinky for a grooming and his odor was strongly masked with perfume. Another time, he was cut so short, we almost cried.
