They make you go in for a 'dog interview' before they agree to board/daycare your dog. They introduce your dog(s) to the pack and let them play for 20 minutes or so. As long as they're not aggressive, you're probably good. I know for a fact that they don't take certain breeds (dobermans, pit bulls, German shepherds) and a few others because they've had issues with them in the past. There are 2 separate play areas for the dogs; one for smaller sized dogs and another for dogs that are probably 30lbs and above. At all times there are a few people out in the yard to make sure everything is okay. From what I understand they go in for meals during the day and have nap time and then go back out to play. Apparently they get classical music when they sleep. My dogs typically go for the classic rock, but plain ole' classical will do. The boarding area is air conditioned and someone sleeps there at night with the dogs. I think we've boarded with them 3 times, each time was a great experience. Most recently our dogs were there for 12 nights while we went on vacation. Though it's not cheap when you're boarding for that long, I trust Linda's with my 2 more than I've trusted them with anyone before. Last time we boarded them, we picked them up on a Monday and other than to go to the bathroom and eat, the dogs did not move off the couch until Thursday, they were so exhausted. I am sure my fat bulldog lost a couple lbs. from playing so much. This place is definitely legit. Bring your dogs here. They'll love it!

The main reason I chose Waggerz Lounge a couple years ago was based on the fact that they don't kennel the dogs, I received several positive reviews from co-workers/others who send their dogs there, and they don't require a reservation for daycare. My dog is fine at home, but I like to bring him in to get his energy out, or on a day where I won't be home at night, etc, so it's not always the same time. He can't contain his excitement on the ride or on arrival. When he comes out at the end of the day, he's happy and fairly quickly will be fast asleep from all the play. As a comparison to Waggerz, I moved out of state for a few months, and needed to use a new daycare near there. I chose one with positive reviews and they even had webcams to check in on your dog. I found there that many of the staff did not seem excited about working there and when I turned on the webcam, I could watch dogs being ignored or pushed away from the employees. Most of the time I couldn't find my dog. Eventually they said he was 'too energetic' and 'didn't get tired enough' and they would kennel him to try and chill him out. When I returned to MA recently, I was no longer as close to Waggerz so I went to visit a daycare that is literally less than half a mile to my house. Upon arrival, I could see some dogs outside, maybe 15 or so. When the woman toured me through, she showed me the empty playroom. We then went to the kennel room. There were easily 40 dogs in kennels barking. She said they'd rotate the dogs throughout the day, but clearly the majority of them were just in a kennel all day. My dog is fine at home, I bring him to day care to play, socialize, and tire himself out. A kennel would not do that. Now I drive an extra 10 minutes past work to bring him to Waggerz. To folks that complain they are expensive, their prices are in-line with or cheaper than the options closest to me. If you pre-pay for a certain number of sessions, it only gets cheaper. And for the fact that your dog has caring attendants and gets to play indoor and out the entire time they are there, it's worth it! To folks that complain their dogs smell afterwards.. they are dogs! Actually, surprisingly, my dog usually smells pretty good on return. But I certainly wouldn't expect a dog running around all day, rolling around with other dogs, to not smell like dog. No big deal. If it's bad, he gets a bath or gets one the next time he's at Waggerz. Do they have kennels in there, yup. Cause sometimes you need them. My dog got kenneled immediately once when he showed signs of kennel cough. It was necessary for the safety of the other dogs and I was called to pick him up. Luckily it turned out it wasn't, but they made the right call for the best of all the dogs (my vet agreed completely!). For drop of times, I'd say this is the one area Waggerz could approve, and this relates pretty exclusively to boarding. Drop-off/pickup times do not allow you to attend work that day because they are mid-day. You can drop-off early or pickup later if you pay for the extra time in day care. It would be nice if it included the morning of day-care, at least on the day you drop-off, but it's not required. My new puppy will be making his first visit there tomorrow. Can't wait! TL;DR Waggerz is great. Staff knows what they are doing and your dog gets to play all day. If they are boarded, they don't get stuck in a kennel and someone actually is there overnight. Visit yourself and take a tour before you believe the negative reviews.

I was assured I could still bring my dog, but I would not be allowed to see the facility at all. When I balked a bit, the person told me she would be very happy leaving her pets at a facility that she can not check out beforehand, and I should too. WHAT???? Isn't visiting a facility the first thing you should consider before leaving your dog there??? So a wasted trip because no one can bother updating the web site to say you can never see inside.

I called our groomer, WE DIG YOUR DOG, but they were closed on Monday so I didn't leave a message. A little later I get a call from them, they saw I called. The groomer Laura was there, and when I explained the situation she said to bring her in. They were able to remove the burrs, and then she said there was no charge. I was amazed that there were businesses that were so incredible! I honestly don't know what we would have done if they hadn't stepped up for us. They really do dig your dog!

It has now…read morebeen over 4 years and our dog -- Riley (who has the same level of energy at age 6 than she did as a puppy) -- still goes to Country Canine and we're still seeing the same very positive benefits as previously. The staff continues to be friendly and they are clearly passionate about dogs. They've brought in various new staff over the years and every one of them has done a fantastic job. If you have a dog with boundless energy and are looking for something to help them get some of that energy out, or if you have a dog that just doesn't get the opportunity to get out of the house enough and interact with other dogs and want them to enjoy a happier, more social life, I highly recommend giving Country Canine a try.

We originally had our first dog Casey start back in 2011. We loved the original daycare and we still very much love Country Canine Retreat with our 2nd dog, Dolly. Dolly is a rescue and had some baggage come with her at 4 months old in 2016 (or so). She has some sass, she's a bit bossy, loves her cuddle time, belly rubs and has enough energy to keep the lights on at the Boston Garden and Patriot's Place! The staff has done an excellent job keeping her busy, entertained, engaged throughout the 5 days a week. She plays with several dogs throughout the day. She loves CCR, recognizes all the staff and comes home sometimes with even more energy at (almost) 11 years old. By Friday, she is one tired happy dog. I love talking with the staff and owner. They are kind, considerate, knowledgeable. I trust them completely. I cannot imagine Dolly going anywhere else.

We don't have kids or another dog so this interaction is all she gets with others. Bonnie posts pictures everyday of the dogs playing so you can see your pup is actually having fun. Plus, it's right in the animal hospital. If I need to take Grace for shots, they take her during the day to get them. When Grace was spayed Bonnie kept a close eye on her throughout the day and next morning. She sent adorable pictures showing she made it thru surgery well. I board Grace when needed. I can tell they take great care of her as she doesn't come back with a different personality. The best part is that the boarding area is clean and the dogs have ample space. There have been multiple occasions where we need to switch days, length of walks, or add on an additional walk. Mary has almost always been able to accommodate us! My pup can be nervous around new people when her humans aren't around, and they have all been wonderfully patient with our pup. We were repeat customers of Shipyard Dog. Before our young dog, we entrusted our elderly dog to the…read morefacility for daycare and boarding for several months before she passed away. We returned because we had previously had a positive experience. We appreciated the cleanliness of the facility, the convenience of the online reservation system, and, most importantly, we trusted them with our pets. Our young dog began attending at approximately four months of age, and for several months everything went well. This spring, we were told he had been "humpy and displaying dominance" during a previously scheduled boarding over school vacation. We immediately followed Shipyard's recommendation upon returning by temporarily removing him from daycare, having him neutered as soon as possible, observing the recommended recovery period, and even offering to pursue additional training if needed. After doing exactly what was asked, Shipyard accepted additional boarding reservations, giving us every reason to believe he remained an appropriate candidate for their program and that any concerns had been adequately addressed. While returning home from a recent trip, we received another message stating that our dog had "incited an altercation" and now needed to be removed from the facility for several months. This meant coming home and unexpectedly needing to start over in finding future boarding after relying on Shipyard Dog for our travel needs, which had recently increased due to a death in our family. After reviewing the 13-second video provided, I was left with more questions than answers. The footage did not clearly demonstrate to me that our dog was solely to blame for the altercation, nor was I given any objective explanation regarding the specific behaviors that led to that conclusion or what "improvement" would actually look like for him to return. From the video, our dog appeared increasingly overstimulated. He was open-mouth panting, sat down while several dogs continued to approach him, and rather than the interaction de-escalating, additional dogs continued to converge around him until a fifth dog approached him directly face-to-face, at which point he reacted. I was also surprised that there appeared to be no consideration of simply removing him from the playgroup or modifying his boarding experience, particularly given that he had been recently neutered, before deciding to dismiss him from the program for a "few months." The video also showed two playgroup monitors nearby before the interaction escalated. What ultimately led us to make other arrangements was the complete breakdown in communication. At no point were we told that our dog's place, even as a boarding customer, was in jeopardy despite accepting four future boarding reservations throughout the summer. When I raised concerns about how this was handled, I received no response. When you board your dog, you should be able to travel, even under difficult family circumstances, knowing your pet's needs are being thoughtfully managed. Instead, we were left worrying about unexpected behavior messages while traveling and scrambling to find new boarding arrangements afterward. I recognize that every facility has the right to determine which dogs are the best fit for its program. My purpose in sharing this review is not to dispute that right, but to help other owners understand our experience. I encourage readers to draw their own conclusions. If you rely on a boarding facility for travel, I encourage you to ask detailed questions about how behavioral concerns are managed, how much communication you can expect if concerns arise, and what alternatives are considered before a dog is removed from the program. Those answers may ultimately determine whether a facility is the right fit for your family.
