I went in to get a vacation feeder for my betta and I am disgusted. The betta section was covered in algae. Almost every cup had green film covering it. The bettas looked malnourished and miserable. I continued to look at the other fish in the store and their tanks filthy. The glass was covered in algae and debris. The only tanks you could clearly see through were the ones that contained pelcos and other algae eaters. By the goldfish, the pebbles that covered the ground had a thick layer of debris and what I assume to be their waste. Their tanks were especially dirty, brown spots covered majority of the tank. The bettas sold here are very inbred as it is, making them weak, but this lack of care or compassion is insane. Also the cleaning rolling cart was left unattended with an open razor blade sitting on the lowest shelf. I understand that this location might be understaffed, but the associate working was speaking to another worker saying, "I will eventually clean the bettas today, if not I will try to get to it tomorrow." The bettas I saw didn't look like they would last much longer. Not to mention (what I assume is the new shipment of bettas) left unattended in the fish section along with the razor blade. This is disgusting. Genuinely. Please get your location under control. This is just depressing. Do better. read more

It's unfortunate when you buy a bunch of fish on Christmas Eve and you wake up on Christmas morning to all of the fish being dead. And pet smart will only give you a refund if you bring in all the dead fish. Unfortunately I was in the hospital with a parent on Christmas Day so I had my son take a photo of the dead fish. Pet smart would not refund the money unless we kept the fish in a bag in our freezer. We bought about 20 fish. They should have told us what to do if any died. 3 were dead by the time we got home. PetSmart you need to do better. You should take into consideration what happened and what day it happened. I definitely won't be back. Someone else could have done better at customer service when your staff was not doing their job very well. The advice given was absolutely inaccurate. read more

The grooming department, I will never come back here. I called ahead and explained my situation and went to check-in. The staff said since my puppy was close to 4 months and did not have all his shots yet, they wouldn't give him a trim or bath, even though the policy clearly says under 4 months with shots started, this is ok. Which is also what they said over the phone yesterday. My paperwork clearly says my puppy is only 15 weeks old and weighs 5 pounds, and all his shots were started. They were just being lazy and also giving attitude. But then I saw them yanking at another dog's collar with the short leash when the dogs were trying to get off the table. Instead of calming the dog or using treats they were yelling and tugging their collars really hard. Being really forceful with the dogs there, and the dogs were whimpering. I recently moved into this area and didn't want to commute all the way back to Pearland to my regular groomer for my dog Waffles. He's a shihpoo with long curly hair. We brought him to this location once before and the haircut was just ok but this last time was ABSOLUTELY THE WORST. They severely injured and traumatized my dog. He was nicked all over but the worst part was the inside of both of his ears. Which were bleeding so badly that everytime he shook his head blood sprayed. I called to speak with a manager or find out which groomer was responsible and got the run around every time I called for over 3 days! When I finally got to speak with the manager "Gilbert", he offered to have him seen at the on-site vet Banfield instead of me taking him to my own vet and that they would pay for it. He said they would call me that afternoon to schedule the appointment for the next day. Of course they never called. (Good thing I took him to my own vet) So I called. Every day for a week. My dog was in pain and could not sleep because of their lack of skills and poor judgment. The least they could do was apologize. I will NEVER bring my dog here again and I recommend if you care about your pup you think twice before dropping them off here. ZERO STARS. read more

Setting up an appointment is useless since you will be dropping off your pet with everyone else. Meanwhile, the store manager was walking around shouting, "which person let them poop here!??" I just left this Petsmart and I refuse to go back. Maybe the only reason I would is to adopt one it the cats to get it out of that place. Upon arriving, two employees were running outside to smoke. The only other employee I saw was working the register. I came to get frozen mice for my snake and worms and maybe some crickets for our lizards. This area is located right where the fish are also held. This particular area was a mess and rather disgusting. I mean, what employee leaves a bag of fish on a cart to die and customers to walk by? Plus dead horned worms that have maggots eating them???!?! How long do these sit there before anyone looks at them? They truly care about the well being of your pet and explain all procedures and medications. I received a phone call from the doctor herself to inform me about a problem my dog had, and the vet tech called the next day to check on her. The atmosphere at this location is calm and professional. It's a very welcomed change from all the noise and distraction at the Sugar Land location. I am devastated! I took my beloved Papillon to be groomed today at the Missouri City, TX Petsmart near Kohls. His appointment was at 11:30 a.m. and I asked when he might be ready and they said 3:00 p.m. So at 3:30 I had not heard from them so I called to check on him. They stammered around a bit and said he'd be ready in a few minutes. At 4:00 p.m., having still not heard from them, I just drove up there. The groomer was just sweeping up his hair. You see my dog was long haired and I was cutting him short for the summer. When I got home with my baby and looked him over I discovered the WORST grooming job I have ever seen. They gouged out a spot on his leg, left him uneven, and completely messed up! What I suspect is that they forgot about him and rushed through to get him done. I know they didn't even bathe him because my dog still smelled when I picked him up. I don't know what I'm going to do but I can't express strongly enough how angry I am. I'm updating my review based on an observation I made a week ago. My husband and I were walking by the aquarium section of PetSmart and I glanced at the tank housing goldfish. Those goldfish were CRAMPED in a tiny tank...but that wasn't the worst part. The worst part was that there were about 15 that were DEAD in the corner of the tank. I understand that sometimes fish die, but THAT MANY? And why just leave them there? It seriously made me second guess PetSmart and I can't even bring myself to shop there any more. The only thing I liked about this location is the training lessons they offer. Although it was a bit pricey, It was worth the money. Robert was my pet trainer and after my dog took about 6 weeks of training here, his walking improved because he wasn't pulling at the leash as much as in the past. I'm really glad the lessons paid off. I would never have known how to train my dog to not pull on the least if not for Robert. He showed me the secret to mastering that skill! I was glad to see my dog graduating his first class with a certificate. :) read more

When my regular Petsmart was out of an item I needed I decided to check this one out. Upon entering I was greeted in a friendly manner and an employee immediately offered to help me. I was taken to the exact item I needed (in stock yay!). I looked around the store and noticed everything was organized, kept clean and easy to locate. I made some other purchases that I know would make my fur kids and shell kid happy. The choices for items were plentiful and of good variety. The selection of collars was a plus because I was able to find the correct size for one of my fur kids who, for whatever reason, decided that tearing up their collar and making it a toy was necessary. I guess the many toys my fur babies have just weren't fun anymore. So, I added some new toys to my purchase so there would be no need to play with any more collars. I noticed that the salon was busy so I watched some pups and a cat get groomed. The salon employees seemed to enjoy their job and the bather looked to have a good way with animals. I've always bathed my pets myself and they are not breeds who need specific grooming other than nail trims at the vet's. From what I saw I'd be inclined to bring mine here for bathing if the need arose. Overall this location had friendly employees, the item I needed and then some. I'd return. read more

We like taking the dogs to get a outfit or treats. That's about all I will buy here. They are priced higher than stores like Wal-Mart or Target for food. I have found outfits really cheap like $4 when they have them. Last time the selection was so limited and they didn't have any regular sizes anymore. The workers can get a bit annoying walking around asking you if you need help...two within 5 minutes and one was pushing to make a donation. She's done that the last two times we've been. They will not sell their tiny tetra fish 2 of them for my 5 gallon aquarium. They want me to buy 1 beta because according to them I cannot keep more than 1 fish in my 5 gallon fish tank. TWICE I have made appointments for my dog at this particular location weeks in advance, only to come and find out that no appointment has been recorded. The first time they claimed the appointment was made at the Sugarland location. Go there only to find out the appointment wasn't there either. I'm sorry, but I have better things to do with my time then drive around figuring out where my appointment went. I make apopintments for a reason. So how are their grooming services? I wouldn't really know as all they've accomplished thus far are making fake appointments for my dog. I guess they don't care for my business. The reason for only 4 stars is limited stock and selection on doggy poop bags of high quality and also limited selection and stock of preferred kitty litter. I had brought a bearded dragon here just recently. 2-3 days into taking the beardie home she had completely ceased eating. When I looked it up online a lot of sources said it was most likely just relocation stress, which isn't unusual for animals. They recommended feeding my beardie baby food and small bits of greens. For the next 3 or moreso days I had to open the beardies mouth and basically gently force feed the poor baby. She was just completely lethargic and I could tell she was losing weight. Please keep in mind, up until this point I only had my beardie for about 6 DAYS. So at that point I know something was wrong. So I took the poor baby back here because I remembered there was a 14 day guarantee, and they would take her to the vet for me for free. So why the heck not? I took her to the store and they sent me to the Pet Care department and I explained the situation to the lady that was helping me. She tried feeding crickets to my beardie but she wasn't eating any of them, even though you could clearly tell she could see them. They offered me a full refund and to just buy a new beardie but I really just wanted to see if anything could be done to help the one I currently had, because I didn't want to give up on her so easily. And they were fine with that. They still gave me a full refund in the case that something did happen which I guess was understandable. They asked for the record/contract (is that what it's called?) that I signed when I had initially gotten the beardie, and since it also had my contact information on here, they would call me if anything happened. So I got my refund, left the contract, and left the store believing that the beardie would be in good hands. Two days later I still hadn't gotten any calls from them so I go ahead and give them a call and all they said that the only information they had was that the vet had my beardie on a special feeding regimen but they do not know anything else because the lady that took my beardie to the vet had already left for they day, and she would most likely know more than they do. So they asked me to call back the next day at a certain time to contact the lady that took her to the vet, her name being Crystal I believe. I called about two days later and was able to get ahold of Crystal and she told me that my beardie was perking up a bit, and that she had eaten a few waxworms and she was on a Carnivore Care supplement. She then told me that my beardie was constipated and after a couple soaking she finally started pooping again. She now they just had to do a fecal exam so would take a couple days longer before I could pick her up again. Especially since they had to schedule the appointment with the vet and get the exam done and everything. Come three days later and I get no word from them so I got a little worried. I called and they connected me to Crystal again and relayed to me the news that my beardie had died from parasites. Obviously I was upset at this. They did the standard sorry for you loss and the phone call ended. NOW. The reason for my one star is this: 1) If my beardie died, why did I have to call YOU guys to figure this out? As someone myself who works with animals and has to deal with customer service this is a VERY poor practice. I was told to leave my contract with my contact information so you guys could relay information to me. How do I know that my beardie wasn't already dead for one or two days before I contacted you? I understand that with the process of the vet and all there is a lot of information to get, so I was fine with contacting you myself about that. But when my beardie passed away? That's unacceptable. 2) Considering the amount of time I had my beardie, she HAD to have been sick at the time of sale. There is absolutely NO way that she was that heavily sick with parasites in less than a week of being with me, and the fact that she became so unresponsive to food so quickly as soon as I got her. If she was that sick I can only imagine how all of your other animals are kept. What is done is done. But all I now know is that I will not be going here anymore under any circumstances. Fix your customer service. Take proper care of your animals. read more

First, I asked for my dogs haircut, bath, and nails to be cut. We told them to cut his body at a medium length, the belly area very short, and cut the face area but don't make it too short. Instead, they didn't even trim his tail and gave him a zero on his whole body, and now you can see his skin. Also, they barely even cut his face so now he looks so bad because his tail and face hair is long while everything else is at zero. Now my dog gets cold at night. The said the grooming will take 3-4 hours but it actually took like 5 hours. This was around a week ago and I WILL NEVER SEND MY DOG THERE AGAIN! read more

This isnt the closest pet store to my home but it is where we go because of the good selection and above and beyond customer service.
