The animal care at this PetSmart needs attention. I observed multiple dead beta fish sitting out. There was a hamster wheel with the opening facing against the cage wall so the hamster inside couldn't run. And the employee picked up a guinea pig in an unprofessional way just to show a customer unprovoked as well. I would like to share my horrendous grooming experience. My husband had scheduled a grooming appointment online for my cat and it was set for Friday 06/21/2024. On 06/19/2024 we received a phone call from George at the Mays Landing PetSmart, stating that they had to cancel and reschedule the appointment to 06/26/2024 at 3:00pm. My husband showed up at the rescheduled appointment time of 3:00pm and was told by the counter associate that my cat was not on the calendar to have a grooming appointment. Upon further review, after showing her my phone calls from PetSmart and that I was told to reschedule my appointment, he was told that they were overbooked with five dogs left and that my cat could not be groomed today. It was very discouraging after having my cat in a cage, put under stress, just to be rescheduled again! The associate Robert came to the counter and said that he could perform the grooming service at 7:00am on Friday 06/28/2024. Robert said that it was his day off and he would still come in to perform the service and that he drove a Blue Nissan and would be in the parking lot when we arrived. After moving around our schedule for the THIRD time, I brought my cat at 7:00am SHARP, and did not see a Blue Nissan in the parking lot. After waiting, 15 minutes for Robert to arrive, my husband went into the store and spoke with Katie who instructed him to bring my cat in and that Robert only lives accouple minutes away and will be here shortly. 7:40am, rolls around and the groomer Robert is still not here. My husband went back into PetSmart and asked the store associate Katie where the groomer was at? Our cat has been sitting in the cat carrier for over an hour now? He was told by Katie, that "Robert's alarm never went off, he will be here shortly." He walked back out to my car, waited another 10 minutes. 50 Minutes had went by and the groomer was still not there. We walked back in the store and said enough has been enough and took our poor cat out, who had been sitting in a cage on their counter for over an hour. I asked the associate Katie for a manager's number. Katie said she was the manager and never once apologized or had anything to say for this horrendous behavior. I WOULD NEVER TRUST YOUR ANIMAL IN THEIR CARE! Appalling behavior was displayed. read more

Worst grooming service. I don't believe my dog was bathed. Her coat was definitely not blow dried. Her coat was cut unevenly and some of her nails were not cut. She still had a lot of hair around her genitals. Store manager was rude and the grooming manager was not helpful. My dog has been getting grooming for 14 yrs and this is the worst I have ever received. read more

Taken my dog here periodically for a bath and nail grinding over the years. Always found it to be acceptable. My dog is nervous so I always let them know and tell them to call me if he seems too nervous and i will pick him up immediately. So I left him and he was ready in an hour. He came out all stressed out, his eyes were red and puffy around the edges which was proof. The next day he is lethargic. The following day he is making a honking sound. A $180 visit to the vet and she declares that either he picked up a virus or his trachea was injured from the grooming. Now the tech told me he was fidgeting but i have no idea how much as his story flip flopped when i asked. The tech that worked on him didn't bother to come out when i picked him up. What happened to the dog grooming report cards? Never taking my dog here again and its the only groomer he has ever gone too. Idk if its new staff or what but clearly something is amiss. read more

THE WORST grooming experience ever. We drop off two of our dogs only for a bath and dry. They proceed to take 30 questions about our dogs which included what we would like to get done - which was only a bath and a dry for one do the dogs. When we picked them up both dogs had clipped nails. CLIPPED!! Neither dogs have been subject to clipping of their nails. Ground always. Both dogs were bleeding on toes. These dogs were groomed a week ago and did not need any toe work. Just a bath. Any sensible person let alone an experienced groomer would have known that the nails needed no work. The WORST part of the whole thing is NO ONE apologized!!!! We proceed to have a rather disturbing conversation filled with lies that conflicts with the receipts and paperwork. The so called manager didn't even apologize on the groomers behalf. Petsmart you lost a few customers both in us and those watched the blood on floors. I have shopped at this Mays Landing, Petsmart since it opened. And with 5 dogs. I can't imagine the money, I have spent at this store. On September 26th, our Beloved White Husky named Nanook went Missing. Out of our backyard in Galloway Twp. When going to this store. We asked to hang a Flyer with our Lost Senior Dogs picture who is Half Blind and Deaf. They refused to hang the Flyer...because of their Company Policy. Then when asked if we could give Flyers to Their Employee's they told us no. We were appalled by their lack of Compassion. That's why I'm giving this Petsmart 1 Star. I have been going to Mays landing pet smart for years. This is my first dog so I didn't know any better as far as a real groomer vs chain groomers in the sense that chain groomers will hire anyone without any experience, just young kids who need a job; "real groomers" are experienced and dont treat your dog just like another number. Over the years going to petsmart there was a lot of inconsistencies but not enough for me to stop going there. But one of the last times i went there, a new groomer cut my shih tzus face so bad, she hid under the couch for 2 weeks except to eat and use the bathroom! I spoke with the manager and she was great! She agreed with me based on the pictures that this was unacceptable and offered a free cut the next time from herself or one of the groomers that has cut her many times whos name is Jen. But moving forward I was fine with anyone cutting her who i know has been there for some time so today I scheduled an appointment with Olivia who called and told me she is not comfortable cutting my dog based on the notes saying I only wanted Jen pr the manager. I told her, Jen or the manager was going to fix her but they didnt have to be the only groomers moving forward. But she was persistent so i said ok fine if u dont want to then ill just cancel for today and she hung up on me!!! How unprofessional! I am done with this chain company and will find a real groomer! read more

They always do a great job grinding my dogs nails, but I was extremely disappointed that the muzzle they gave me to put on him reeked of the most foul smell ever. It was so bad my hand smelled after simply touching the muzzle to put it on my dog. No dog should have to inhale such odors. Please get new muzzles or thoroughly clean the ones you use. read more

Brought my dog there to be groomed. She is the sweetest dog ever. Well, they must have muzzled her because afterwards every time I went to put her leash on she would wince back. Terrible place for grooming. Looks like they have a bunch of inexperienced, people grooming the dogs. I have gone to this petsmart for 10 years with my three dogs and I will never go back. I took my three dogs in for a normal nail cut and was completely in shock with how disrespected I was. Lauren C, who has been there for 5/6 years plus, proceeded to talk amongst her co workers about me.. while I was still in the room. Lauren was not bright enough to see me behind the counter, on the floor, with my dogs who suffer separation anxiety, to realize I was still in the room. Lauren proudly spoke about me without whispering, loud enough where every groomer could hear her. She spoke about high school drama (we graduated in 2012 it's about to be 2018) about how I accused her of something. I spoke to Lauren maybe once in my life, it wasn't a lengthy conversion maybe a sentence to her. If I'm going to accuse someone of anything, they'll actually have something to be in shock about not a he said she said high school. After one of her co workers shh'd her, since yanno I was still in the room, she proceeded to put the small dog she was currently working on, on the floor with a small leash around its neck, while she went in the back "to clean" with another co worker Nycole. Nycole was working on a 6 month old cat that was getting picked up, Lauren was just avoiding me probably because of how embarrassing it is to be caught speaking about someone, who's still in the room. I mean ya don't look bright girlfriend. Lauren did not come out of the back room until my 3 dogs were out of the groomers and completely done. Nycole was walking in and out mostly minding her business but taking small glances at me when she could. When my mother came in the groomers station after paying I proceeded to tell her what happened, normal quiet talking not raising my voice at all. Katie was at the first groomers station and over heard and apologized and said I wouldn't be the first to complain. That statement alone extremely bothered me because NOTHING has been done for multiple people who have complained. I proceeded to even tell Katie "I'm planning my wedding, I'm buying a house, my fiancés little sister works here sometimes, and I have to worry about a some random girl speaking bad about me for what reason? Does Lauren not have anything going on in her life 6 years later? Something stupid, silly, and immature from almost 6 years ago needs to be bought up so proudly why?" Katie again apologized and then congratulated me on my engagement. Once my dogs were finished by Shannon, I tipped her and went to leave and Katie congratulated me again to where Shannon said "congrats for what?" Katie said she's engaged, Shannon then said "oh congrats!!" Before the door shut. I asked a cashier for a manager because I'm not going to cause a seen and because I rather not make Lauren cry at work. I told the manager what happened and she said "I'm sorry I'll speak to her I hope this will not effect you coming back" and I said immediately "oh no it will, completely it will" I also explained to the manager Lauren did the gossip nod with attitude to her co worker Katie who knew I was complaining through the glass after I was already out of the groomers room (glass is clear ladies, we can see you) the manager knew what I was talking about because she's a women and all of us know the gossip attitude nod. She said she was sorry again, and that she'd speak to her. I left the store unable to shop for my dog because I still felt like nothing would be done but a smack on the wrist. The manager went into the groomers room and seemed to be talking to the groomers but it didn't seem like anything was happening. It's a shame that I've gone here for 10 years and it's all coming to an end because of one person, Lauren C. I truly hope something great happens in your life Lauren, that way you'll have something to talk about besides something that didn't involve you over 6 years ago!!
