I was setting up my Aquarium today and was having a few concerns about the sound of the pump so I called PetSmart. Dillon answered and provided me with really good information and making sure that the filter is soaked and that The water is filled up to the top to ensure that the water can cycle through. He was very informative about other options for the aquarium as well and made sure to let me know that even after setting up the Aquarium with the water conditioner and letting it run for 24 hours, the fish tank is not yet ready for fish. Warning: I was surprised to hear this because I've seen a lot of videos online claiming that you can just add an introduced fish after the 24 hours, but he said that there is a chance that they will not survive because the ecosystem hasn't been built up and the bacteria, hasn't been introduced long enough. I'm glad I spoke to him because he said that I would need to wait a couple of weeks get the water tested to make sure that the ammonia levels and the bacteria are within the right range to support the fish. I share this information in case anybody is also looking at aquariums and to safeguard them from prematurely buying fish only to see some of them die as a result of inadequate aquarium conditions. Dillon was so friendly and I'm thankful for all his help. He gave me a lot of good pointers. I would have definitely made some mistakes if I hadn't spoken to him. Some of the other things he mentioned were the importance of having a heater. He did not recommend the need for a an air pump because the filter should just do its job. And he also mentioned that you'd want to buy a product called stability which helps kickstart the bacteria development. he mentioned feeding the tank as if there were fish present daily. I found this really interesting, but he said that this was an important step as well to get the tank ready for fish to enter. read more

East Cobb has its own dog trainer, and her name is Liz! Liz is teaching both of our dogs, one in a group setting and one privately through Petsmart's dog training program. She really understands dogs and is helping us understand our doggies as well. The boxer/lab mix (age 10) started exhibiting signs of aggression in the last year, and Liz has tailored his eight week program to his special needs. He is now perfectly fine with people, and we know that he is head shy and protective of his back yard. We are still working on staying calm when meeting other dogs, but he is getting there. Our four year old lab/pot bull/American bulldog is super sweet but rambunctious and stubborn. My daughter is getting better at managing her and the group class is great for socialization. I am not sure why this Petsmart is only rated three stars. The employees are very friendly and helpful. They have a great selection, the vet and grooming are good as well. The store is always super clean. And they have Liz! read more

Petsmart has been around since 1986 out in the Phoenix Arizona area. The company now has over 1500 stores all over the US, Canada and Puerto Rico. They're actually owned by the private equity giant BC Partners who incidentally also owns Office Depot and now Chewy.com This location is off of Johnson Ferry and Roswell Road in is an area known as East Cobb....It's surrounded by clusters of shopping including Whole Foods, Home Depot, TJ Maxx, and Trader Joe. The store is well laid out with clutter free aisles and trash free parking lot. The sales associates here are also pretty friendly. There is usually someone that greets you as you walk in and offers to help you with things....I think Petsmart for the most part is a great store. They carry pet foods in all price ranges and they sell lots of great toys for both dogs and cats as well. It's a great store for any pet lover.... read more

I took my sweet baby teddy to this location for his first grooming. We couldn't have been happier with the service! I had a 9am scheduled and it took approximately 3 hours to complete. They called ahead to let me know they couldn't complete some services on him because he wasn't comfortable and to pick him up. Also this location is great to shop at. It's in a very safe location. My French Bulldog had surgery and I needed supplies and other stuff, we have found everything we need for him at this location. Horrible grooming. Brought in my 5 month golden retriever puppy (nicest dog in the entire world) and paid for a bath, nails, paw pads and a bandana ($68 btw). They did absolutely nothing to him- he still smells, nothing is trimmed, he is sticky, and no bandana. When I came in and asked how his first grooming went they told me he was nervous and needs to be on Xanax. Which tells me all I need to know and that they did absolutely nothing to him. No one in there even smiled when I said I was there to pick him up. Seems like the whole grooming salon is full of people who hate dogs. Never ever come here read more

very rude employee. middle aged, dark hair, wearing a mask. I don't know her name, but it 9/16 around 630-640 pm. I stepped in pee and she handed me a tiny piece of tissue paper and asked me to wipe it off my shoe. obviously if I did that the pee would be on my hand. i would have done it if I was given at least a paper towel. I left the store and will not come back. it's not my fault that there was dog pee on the floor. It happens pee and poo is a common thing at a pet store, but don't talk to me like it was my fault that I didn't see it. She needs to retrained on how to speak to customers. read more

We took our one-year-old dog to this location to have her nails trimmed and her anal glands expressed. A couple days later, she was peeing all over our home and seemed to be complaining all the time. We took her to the vet, and she was diagnosed with her first UTI. The vet said that they were very sure that she obtained the UTI from the anal glands being expressed and then wiped the wrong direction, contaminating her parts. For the anal gland expression, the groomer took her into the back even though I had asked if we could watch it, because I was worried something like this could happen. Now, she still has a UTI being treated with antibiotics, and we will never go back to PetSmart for anal gland expression again. Her nail cut was fine though. read more

This location is the worst! The trainer shares too much personal info about herself and her "angel dogs". I requested a refund for the training and the manager tried to defend the trainer until I said I don't speak of my relatives that have passed as if they are physically present with me. Today I needed a manager because I was told that I could use a coupon given to me as part of a "goodie bag" for completing training at another location. The manager was very short with me and had a snarky attitude. Spare yourself the trouble and go to the Kennesaw location even though it is a bit further. Kennesaw is a nicer store with a FANTASTIC trainer and wonderful, helpful and friendly staff. They are so kind to me and my girls in Kennesaw! read more

I took my dog to the grooming center for an overdue nail trim and was very pleased with the experience! Jackson was extremely kind to my dog and did a fantastic job on her nails. This Petsmart is clean. I only used their grooming services once many years ago because our regular groomer had surgery. It was an ok job. I prefer mobile groomers so your dog doesn't have to stay forever. This is especially important if you have an older dog or one with health issues. The price for mobile is similar to a pet salon, but even if a little more, so worth it. My complaint is lack of some food. I've been buying wild bird food here for a while. Rarely do they have more than 1-2 bags at a time. Lately they are always out. I decided this time to go to Chewy.com. NO problem getting the amount I wanted for the same price. I will have my order in 1-2 days. Petsmart, you may have just lost a customer who spent $80-100 a month on Wild Bird food. read more

I always bring my pet here for grooming. They always address my dog as a he. On the paperwork given to owners she's addressed as a he!!! They don't realize the gender of the animals they are grooming. It frustrates me. I have addressed this before and ir appears nothing has changed. She was also nipped during her grooming. Ok, will never use this pet grooming salon again. I wrote a recent review on a very rude groomer who's name I didn't mention. Today I will just say it as I read another's bad review with this person who should be fired. Her name is Simone. A previous Yelper said the same thing about her. The other reason for this particular review is the one lady I really like had to cancel today. I completely understand, but there's no-one else available this week to groom our little guy. He's waited weeks to be groomed!!! We use the "express " service as he doesn't do so well being crated for hours. I am completely done with these people. This time, I got there and was informed that my rabies information wasn't up to date, but no one told me I needed updates when I made my appointment. This is our go-to local PetSmart. They tend to have competitive prices for cat food and litter, and lots of different brands of both, from cheap to high-end, as well as prescription cat/dog food should you require it. They have everything you could need for your animal, whether it's toys, beds, cages/carriers, clothing, treats... Not just cats and dogs, too -- they've got fish, amphibians, reptiles, mice, rats, guinea pigs, and hamsters, as well, with everything you'd need to have one. The staff has always been friendly at the counter. We've never needed to find anything, but there always seem to be quite a few employees at the front. Sign up for their PetPerks card to get discounts and a 15% off "Friends and Family" coupon twice a year, in June and December. We can't resist stopping by and seeing the cats for adoption on display. It's really great that PetSmart allows the local rescue group to use their store to display their cats. Although we haven't used their services, they also have a Banfield vet clinic here as well as dog grooming services. Lots of parking. Easy to stop by after lunch in the area! read more

I'm not reviewing services, because I don't have the experience. I ran in there today to get a dog tag made after losing and finding my pup this morning. It was very simple to purchase a tag at the counter.. and slightly amusing to watch the machine laser-engrave it. This is probably one of the nicest looking and definitely the largest Petsmart I've ever been in. I noticed their dog training area is an enclosed area in the middle of the store, where shoppers can watch. I think that's awesome considering when I trained my dog at the Cumberland location we were in the stock room! read more

Great customer service! We had a minor issue with our purchase a few weeks back (was no fault of the store). Jeff went above and beyond to ensure our problem was corrected! Because of Jeff, Bella and I will be back at Petsmart every Saturday to get our supplies and visit the nail salon as we have been doing for the past 5 years. I returned to the store today and the staff was beyond helpful! They even helped me by holding Bella's leash while I paid! I recommend this store and their pet salon for any pet owners. The white older man with greyish hair and round belly needs racial training. From the start, he interrupted me looking at tanks and asked "need something?" with an evil tone. Then, he lingered around while I looked for presents for my babies ( I'm a picky reptile mama so I went across like 3 aisles and spent TIME thinking and looking at labels etc). I ended up wanting this opened toy. He came around the corner as I walked to the cashier. When I get to the register I saw him in my peripheral go to what looked like the manager office, and I took that as going to watch video in my already upset mind. The people usually there know me by face and are very sweet , but I have never seen THIS MAN before. read more

Don't use the grooming salon. My dog came home with a tick and when I called, there was no apology no offer to refund me ... nothing. And I spoke directly to the manager of the salon. I made them give me a refund and I won't use them again. Given all the publicity about dogs dying at their groomer, you would think they would have a better public relations strategy. Rude and incompetent. Kudos to the manager if the store for stepping up and taking responsibility. Not enough to make me use the groomer again but at least someone there has some sense. read more

This is an OK place to buy my pet's food. The last two times I came into the store there was two or three young associates talking by the front door to themselves. They could have at least said hello. I do like that they support rescue groups that attend their store on Saturdays. There is no reason to buy a dog when there are so many rescue dogs/cats needing homes. Their prices are usually less than their competitors. That's the only reason I'll keep coming back. read more

A couple things- I recently moved to the area and needed to find a groomer for two terrier mix pups (rescue pups- one who was traumatized when we got him. He does well now, but he gets skittish with new situations/people/places.). I found a place that had amazing reviews... and HATED it. They charged us at the top of the pricing scale for two 17 lbs terrier mix pups and both had the worst hair cuts I'd ever seen on any dog. Looked like little kids took scissors and then quite halfway. So I decided to give Petsmart a try (where I took my old pup for over 10 years and where we'd taken these pups before we moved to GA). They fit us in quickly no unexpected up-charges Puppies LOOK GREAT! I'm very very pleased. Will take them back read more

Called to schedule our dogs there for shampoo and trim. They have to have proof of rabies vaccine but for some reason the standard rabies tags are not good enough. No problem, they said they normally call the vet to verify. Push appointment out a few days with assurance they would call vet and verify next day. Show up with dogs and they had not called vet and vet was closed for the day. I totally understand having to verify vaccination but we did what they asked and they dropped the ball. Very poor service - it is not hard, just do what you say you will do. We will not be back. read more

I brought my dog in to get a bath at the grooming service. He was a little jumpy when I dropped him off and when I picked him up I noticed when I got him home he was limping. I called the next day and asked if they saw him jump in a weird way or if something happened at the appointment. I was NOT looking to blame anyone just trying to find out if something happened. Jackson one of the groomers immediately for me on with the floor manager Laura and Laura insisted I bring Tuck in so they could see what was happening. I got to Banfield and Laura was so amazing about wanting to make sure Tuck was taken care of. They sent me home with something for his pain, told me to let them know if he doesn't get better and then Laura called me to see if everything was to my satisfaction and to let her know if there anything else she could do......WOW! Not a bad petsmart. Im basing the three stars off of their ability to serve customers. They are usually very friendly but also very under staffed. If a customer calla the phone rings at the cashier. When the line is 8 people deep and there is 1 cashier someone else answering answering phone inquiries. This has happened several times. Aside from that they are great. This is a very large Petsmart with a lot of supplies for your best friends! The day I visited they had an adoption event, which made me very happy. It was nice to see so many tail waggers finding new forever homes! It was cold outside and the dogs that were available outdoors had jackets and sweaters on. I was in the store about 30 minutes and was asked if I needed help at least four times. I'll make this my go-to pet supermarket! read more
