Our loveable six and one half pound yorkie went their for grooming and was not only injured but traumatized by supposedly two very large stature women pinning him down to groom - very poor job and omit to brush teeth and cut nails which I paid for. I wish I looked at all the poor reviews on line before as the other facility in Plymouth MA was wonderful and never a problem. Very abusive techniques being used!!!!!!! I went there to ask about having my cats nails trimmed, and the girl was like, "You need an appointment, and it will be up to the vet to find time. I'm not sure why they offer the service! And it's outrageously overpriced! We ended up doing it ourselves. My next-door neighbor just informed me that she just had the same experience, but the girl was even ruder towards her. She was asking about nail trim for her dog, and the girl said I will ask," and the other lady screamed and said No!!!! Well PetSmart, you officially lost my business forever. I received an email the other day letting me know that PetSmart was holding a puppy play date for puppies 10-20 weeks and I decided immediately that was how we were going to spend our Sunday afternoon with Dale. We got to PetSmart and went back to the Doggie Day Camp and Dale saw all those friends to play with and started wiggling his butt a mile a minute. We were SO excited!! We started to give our information to get him registered in the system and then the question came up, "What kind of dog is he?" Considering this is a PET STORE, I didn't think it would ever be an issue that Dale is a pit bull, but to be cautious, I said,"He's a mutt." The woman came around and started playing with him and kissing him and said, "Is he mixed with a pit bull?" So I asked her if that was an issue and she could instantly see I was upset and went and got her manager. The manager came out, took one look at Dale and told us they couldn't accept Dale. She informed us that PetSmart Corporate policy doesn't allow any type of pit bull in group activities.... excuse me WHAT?!?!! This is a FOUR MONTH OLD PUPPY and you are turning him away from an event that YOU INVITED US TO. All while this was going on, Dale was just looking in to the play room with all those puppies that were staring back at him waiting for him to come play. My heart shattered into a million pieces as I had to turn around and walk out. It baffles me how a pet store can promote, advertise, send me 4-5 emails a day, and happily take my money, but when I try to take advantage of an opportunity to socialize my puppy and give him a great day, I get turned away based on a breed restriction. Grooming: Took the 3 dogs to the groomers, One dogs was great! One was ok, still needed a little brushing. But My third, His penis area is still crusty with mud, his inside legs are still crusty and his ears are still funky, They told me they couldn't blow dry him cause he wouldn't allow it.... And said they brushed him..... does this look brushed?! Tried to tell them I wanted my money back and they said no. Because One was nippy, yet he was fine When I followed up at a self grooming station at petco, he was fine with the groomer there under the dryer & when she tested out brushes (to see which I needed to buy) So idk.... Horrible experience! We dropped off our puppy to be groomed. They were slow, but they​still didn't call us for pickup​ for two hours. We arrived to pick him up and he was acting weird, scared and crying. We started to comfort him and realized HIS TAIL WAS BROKEN IN TWO PLACES, while in the PetSmart grooming salon! I get the SPA version of grooming which is the most expensive around 70$ each time every 8 weeks. I have a 4 year old shih tzu and she always comes back from this place as if she's been traumatized. I notice the difference from when I would take her to a private groomer who was able to pay individualized attention to her and only had 4 dogs at a time to care for within the time period I left Leia there. I would have to expect that Leia gets the generic department store grooming experience due to the volume of dogs, the speed with which they are expected to deliver and the way the kennel space is set up with dogs stacked on top of each other. Each of the groomers seems lovely and they have the window so you can watch as the dogs are groomed and check for quality control. The spawdicure comes with a facial, massage and I include the oatmeal bath because my dog has hypersensitive skin. They say they brush their teeth but it must be superficial because i don't notice a difference. Also, I've seen some nicks on my dogs face-that may also be because I ask for her to be shaved super low to accomodate the frequent baths I give her due to her sensitive skin. I've included a picture of the outcome. I continue to go here because of convenience of location and there is nothing outright alarming about my dog's safety or health when she is returned to me. Just that she acts crazy like she wants to get out of there when we leave however again I think thats because of the volume of pets being kenneled. When they check in the pet, they could be friendlier however I am sure they are stressed due to some pets not being comfortable with grooming and dog parents can be crazy. They always call to let us know when the dog can be picked up. Also, they have let me drop Leia off in the morning and as long as she is picked up by COB, they don't charge extra for the kennel fee or watching her while I'm at work. read more

By far the worst groomer I have brought my dog to and I generally don't leave reviews. Scheduled an appointment for 12:30, dog sitter dropped him off at 12:15. Called at 3:30 on my way home from work hoping I could pick him up without waiting. The grooming department answered the phone and said "the groomers busy today" when asking how the dog was doing and when he would be finished and refused to give me an ETA. Showed up as this was the second time they had been unprofessional, the first time my dog came home with fleas from this location. Lisa the assistant manager continuously told me it was my fault and that the dog had a 4 hour grooming appointment. Then 450 comes around Im still waiting for my dog he comes out with the groomer and had a massive black gray spot on his black. Tiffany the groomer, trying to play dumb, said oh he didn't have that before he came in? No he's a golden retriever lol that has been here a few times. States their dryer shorted out while he was being groomed and I could bring him back for a wash, after the way they handled him I just washed him at home. Saw Lisa the assistant manager before I left about the dryer concern and she couldn't even look me in the eyes. I will never bring my dog back here and i'm concerned for those of you who do bring their pets here. read more

We have bought our pets food here for years now my cat gets the Science Diet and our dog gets Authority. The food prices are less than the grocery stores with a much better selection. Every petsmart is the same. They carry the same fish the same birds and the same reptiles. It's really boring. There prices are not bad and they are usually clean but please have more variety. I like the store but this review is related to their grooming. I love their groomers. They are great with our dog. They always do an excellent job cleaning her ears, doing her nails, washing and brushing her. It takes a long time but is worth it. When you pick your dog up they include a little report card to let you know what was done, who did it, and how she reacted. I was very cautious to bring her to a big box pet store for her grooming but they were so good I've gone back countless times. I once accidentally sent my husband to the wrong pet store for grooming and we had to take our dog there a few days later because the other place did such a horrific job. The thing I like best about PetSmart is that they listen when you tell them what you want. If I say only a 1/4 of her coat, they do only a 1/4. They are really top-notch! read more

Traveled an hour to this store while on vacation in Maine to see the American fuzzy lop rabbit they had listed on pet finder and we get there to find out it's not an American fuzzy lop after calling to confirm. Employee had no idea what she was talking about or how to handle rabbits! Told her it's not an American fuzzy lop as they max out at 4 lbs and she said well it's not a pure breed but the mixes are listed as mixes and this was not listed as a mix and there wasn't a very good picture to tell before going. After first going to petco and seeing the terrible conditions of the fish tanks and dead fish everywhere, I decided to go to pet smart. I am extremely glad I did. I bought 5 fish, and the worker was extremely nice and willing to scope around the fish tank to get the right color fish I wanted. It was an overall great experience. read more

I'm happy with the haircut and the outcome of the cut and shampoo itself but extremely displeased with the ending of my experience. The thoroughness in the beginning was great as we were deciding what I wanted for my dog. I did give a complete warning about how she has a difficult time with clippers but she is a sweetheart and probably the most lovable 5lb dog you'd ever meet. She literally is just petrified of getting her hair cut-but as she is a shihtzu-it needs to be done. Even while checking out the cashier couldn't believe that I was told my dog was asked to not return for grooming services. I was reassured that her yelping wouldn't have been a problem but after the services were provided it suddenly was a problem and then explaining to me my dog isn't allowed back and that a different groomer would be a better fit. I took our 6 pound female maltipoo there yesterday She was very matted. I did not want her shaved but they said that that was the only way they could get rid of the matting. In any case they ended up shaving her as little as possible and kept her ears long and cute and face very cute - she ended up looking great And I would definitely go there again. The groomers name was Tia but everyone was really nice there and they all looked competent. read more

i am usually a fan of petsmart grooming because many of the stores i've gone they have done a superb job. I brought my dog to this store to get groomed, and they had told me that there may be certain areas they would have to shave because of how matted he was, so I expected his cut to be short. I picked him up in horror, his whole body was shaved down, and there were spots where they missed shaving him and spots where it clearly did not blend in at all. And on top of it, they shaved the bottom of his head and left the top, so he looked like he had a triangular head. When I picked him up the RUDE/NASTY groomer looked at me with horror and did not say hi or how are you, but she said "youre dog was VERY difficult!" and then walked away to get him, handed him to me, and still didn't say another word! Now yes there are difficult dogs, but I have had my dog groomed with ease at different places, so if you can't handle him, you are an INEXPERIENCE groomer! so we WILL never go back there! BUT on another note, the staff in the rest of the store is superb. Very knowledgable and kind. read more

I rarely write a bad review, but Wow, brought my Himmy cat there today to be groomed. First off, they let her sit in her carrier for over 1/2 hour while staff checked their cell phones, and worked on a dog. Then, they worked on her a few minutes, called me in and told me she was too feisty to work on...left her with just her back shaved! I've been getting my cat groomed for 7 years and this was the 1st time any groomer has not finished the job. Granted, she's feisty, she's a cat for goodness sake! Stay away, cat groomers needto have patience and tolerance and clearly they don't have those qualifications here! read more

I had a very bad experience with their groomer - Barbara. I dropped my dog off this morning to be groomed. She was smelly and dirty from being boarded for the past week. After 2.5 hours, we called to see if our dog was ready. We were told that she had a small damp spot on her neck but was ok to pick up. When we picked her up, she was soaking wet and still smelled just as badly as when she was dropped off. I called and asked to speak to whoever groomed my dog. I was told is was Barbara. Upon speaking with her, I asked her if she did indeed bathe her as she was soaking wet and still smelled just as badly as when I dropped her off. She told me she used tons of soap. I asked why she thought she smelled so badly still. I thought maybe she'd need a second treatment and another appointment She got very nasty and told me she wouldn't be doing my dog again, I wasn't welcome to come back and I could go elsewhere. I told her I would be posting on social media how badly my dog was done. She told me I was very unprofessional. I did call the store and speak with Rick, the store manager. He was very nice and apologetic. He did allow me to rebook at no charge with a different groomer. Barbara gets 1 Star. Rick gets 5 Stars for handling my situation professionally. read more

I hate leaving bad reviews but i feel i should share this experience because it really upset me. I do love petsmart as a store there fish look healthy and the small cage pets always have clean cages and look well cared for. And i like there pet products. My review is really just about the grooming department. I had brought my dog in for grooming quite a while ago you guys suspected that I stole the dog witch was ridiculous you're reason was that his paper work had to different color pens that it was written in and before you would groom him you said you had to check his micro chip to make sure it was the same as on the paper work this offended me an I thought it was very unnecessary. I would have left but he really needed a hair cut. So I left him there to be groomed and about a half hour later I get a call saying there is something seriously wrong with his leg and they won't finish grooming him. I came to pick him up and he looked awful he was half groomed and was limping. He wasn't limping when I brought him. The groomer then tryed to tell me my dogs leg was broken it was not at all broken. The vet told me he had a muscle strain. I will never take him there again he now gose to tail above the rest an they are wonderful read more

My dog had a tear , a cut , a flap of skin was torn on a fence. I went to an emergency clinic not far from Pet Smart in Manchester. After a two hour wait-the front desk clerk gave me a thousnad dollar charge if I wanted the dog sewn up . I left, went to PetSmart and had it done at hundreds less. STAY AWAY FROM THOSE EMERGENCY CLINICS, THEY ARE RIP OFFS. THE VET DOC WAS FRIENDLY AT PET SMART AND DIDN'T ACT LIKE A BIG SHOT. read more
