So I cracked open the phone book... lo and behold, I found Doggie Details, a 3 minute walk from my house! I called and left a message on Saturday. Gail (the owner) quickly called me back (despite not having weekend hours) with an appointment for that Monday and told me what paperwork to bring and what to expect. I had a dog growing up, but never had a rescue before. So, when I arrived to the appointment somewhat nervous, she immediately made me feel at ease and was so reassuring and described to me what she she does for each dog. Since Hercules is short-haired, the appointment was much shorter than expected and he was ready for pickup around 11/11:30am (drop off was 8:30am). I attribute my smooth transition to adoping Hercules to Gail! At the end of the appointment, she gave me so many helpful tips on training, feeding, care, and suggested reading Dr. Dodman books (which are great resources btw). She even suggested a veternarian for me. The price is very reasonable-$25- and quality superb. At the end of EVERY appointment I go home with a happy clean dog!

I leaned over to see what was going on and only could see its tail so I walked over because I was so disturbed by her treatment of this helpless, restrained dog on the table. She saw me watching and completely changed her tone to sound affectionate to the dog but it was obviously a fake show for me. Then she abruptly drew the curtain so I couldn't see any more. When my dog was finally ready ( he had been there way longer than it takes elsewhere) a different groomer brought my dog out. She pointed out a bleeding area on his back leg, in the hock section, and said it was from " brush burn" and happens frequently and would be gone by tomorrow. I have never heard of or seen this after grooming in any of my dogs over multiple decades. I knew for a fact it would NOT be gone by tomorrow, as she said, because of the size of the bleeding area. It took days to heal. The worst thing, though, was that it was on the other leg as well! So if you made one leg bleed from aggressive brushing, wouldn't you go gentler, or use a softer brush on the other leg? This is a small grooming salon and the owner and other groomers must witness and realize that at least 2 of their groomers are mean and/or incompetent. This is totally unacceptable!

The emergency room said her uti was caused by being in bacteria or not being dried all the way down there. The vets said UTI usually don't cause a fever as high as 106.7. Mystery. Jen offered to pay for it but she never did. She avoids your messages. Never gets back to you. So upsetting I was hoping she was true to her word. You trust your fur babies with groomers and never know what goes on behind closed doors. She seemed like a nice and honest person.

I was nervous about going somewhere new, but I am so happy I found the courage to do so! The first words out of Dawn's mouth when we picked up Bailey was, "she looks horrible, I know." OMG! When I made the appointmen, I was assured that Dawn had experience with grooming Labradoodles and that she had "special" equipment to accommodate the needs of a senior dog....she had "special " equipment all right. The appointment process was smooth, they fit me right in the following week rather than have to wait months, which is my issue with other groomers. I was greeted with a smile, as was my pup. The owner and assistant took great care in keeping him calm, which is not an easy task. I was able to take a look inside the boutique and it was tidy and professional looking.
