We have a 11 month old 95+ lbs. Masitf mix , best way to descried his temperament is he like Ferdin the bull. He large energetic but very friendly. Wanting to socialized while working off some of his energy we decide to place him in day care. We originally placed him in a different day care. Discrimination is the only work I can use to describe our experience with them. After just a hand full of time they asked us not bring him back cause he was" too big." That is all they could say, there was no incident, they simply did not take the time nor had the experience handling my breed of dog Being a working we need to get our dog out, we decided try out The Barking Dog. They took the time to listen ! The day of his evaluation we explained our previous experience & who our dog personality as well as needs. They took the time to explained their evaluation process to place him in a group that fit him. Their groups are smaller than the previous day care. They slowly introduced him to the other dogs so not to over whelm him. When he was picked up on his fist day he was calmer than previously , & wiped out! We could not be more happy! read more

I will never take my pet here ever again! My cat needed to be boarded while I was having life saving medical treatment and they almost killed my cat! My cat was incredibly sick from her boarding stay with them. She still is incredibly sick even now and it's a week and a half later.  I completed the survey they email you asking for feedback after my pet's boarding. At the end of it they request you to email them if you had any issues before you post any reviews. I did so 5 days ago and no one cared enough to respond, so now I'm warning everyone about this awful place.  When I picked her up from her boarding stay, she was sneezing and had a noticeable foul odor when the person brought her out to me in her cat carrier.  She's needed to see her vet and hundreds of dollars have now been spent to help her get better. She's had a fever of 104.9, is sneezing nonstop, barely eating, pawing at her nose nonstop, her eyes have discharge, and her right nostril is completely blocked. Her vet said it was a upper respiratory infection and a bacterial infection. My cat has never been sick once in the almost 2 years I've had her. She's absolutely miserable still at this moment.  I paid extra for the gold package for her stay with them. If she was getting all the extra attention that is supposed to be included in that, there's no way they couldn't notice she was very ill. Then on top of that, the sheet with notes about her stay only said one thing: "She was shy at first and then turned into a purring machine." Nothing about how she ate, nor how ill she became. The fact that no one bothered to care that she was ill or notify me is appalling. She deserved way better than this. The fact that no cared to contact me about this is equally troublesome.  She also didn't come home with everything she arrived with there. This required me to have to go in and get her blanket this later in the week. They treated me like I was inconvenience when I went in to get it.  She will never board with this facility ever again! Do not trust them to care for your pet! Update: They are claiming they've called me and left me voicemail messages, which is a complete lie! Vanessa Nevin emailed me today (6 days later) and I have already responded to her. Stop lying and trying to downplay your negligence. You've made a bad situation far worse. So impressed with the professionalism of staff and extreme attention to details. My dog's evolution day was flawless that left a great impression in me. They did a thorough evaluation, with a detailed mid-day text and photo & an end-of-day detailed report (I even received the name of new friends my dog made that day). The same staff who received my dog in the morning, returned her back to me and told me about how well she did, Given the details she provided, I know she took the time to get to know her well. I feel very comfortable taking her there for daycare and boarding, knowing that she will be in good hands. read more

This place may be a great place to have your dog groomed, trained or boarded but it is not a place to go to if you are out of town and looking for a dog park. Which is what it came up as in my searches on the Apple map app. Very frustrating to drive 20 minutes to find out there is no public fenced in area for dogs to run. read more

Our Boxer pup, Fletcher just finished training with Jocelyn at the Barking Dog in Hooksett. Fletcher had some issues prior to training - he was very impulsive, didn't listen and walks were difficult. Jocelyn worked with our sweet, loveable, but stubborn boy and helped to change these behaviors. She also worked one on one with us so that we were involved in the training. Our 1-year old dog Cheddar started training sessions with Jocelyn when we brought home our new baby girl (6 months ago) because he was acting out and being fairly naughty for attention. i left my two dogs for a long weekend. I was supposed to get daily photos of each dog. one day showed them bolting from the kennel terrified. then the pictures tended to be of both dogs together. we paid for treats but I doubt they got them. When we picked up the dogs they had been sprayed with something and were wet and dirty. we had to bathe them. our dogs are part of our family and I feel awful they were so mistreated. we always loved barking dog but lately it's standards have lowered and we will not trust them with our canine family again. read more

Decent facility to bring my pooch for daycare. They have package pricing too which is nice. Daycare Staff is attentive and friendly, but boarding staff often has an attitude and you can tell they don't want to be there. Also, the stench of this place is almost unbareable. I get it, it's a dog care facility, but why can't they choose better products and clean more thoroughly. They use the same nasty mop head over and over to clean after our pooches with no cleanser. I know because I saw it on their videos. Also, it is not unreasonable to have 24 hour live feed video on their website to check on your pet. Many other daycares offer this. This place is pricey, and I feel can offer more to customers for the price. read more

As a previous satisfied customer of the Exeter, NH location, I was faced with the need to put my dogs up for boarding while I went on vacation. My dogs have done day care in the past but have never been left for boarding. The fact that boarding is more difficult for the owner than the dogs aside, my boys were well-cared for, safe and happy to be there. The rates are exceptionally reasonable, and with any boarding over 3 days, they're treated to a free bath, nails and ear treatment before you pick them up. Icing on the cake was when I asked about a credit I had on my Exeter location account. Although their computer systems are not connected, the site manager transferred the dollar value over to my account in Hooksett with no difficulty. Great staff, clean & safe facility! We have (had) 2 dogs. When I first moved here, I had an 11 year old cocker spaniel, Brady, who was groomed regularly but not very good about it (he was an abused rescue who nipped at anyone trying to pick him up or mess with him). I was nervous to introduce a new groomer (for him and for them). After his first grooming, they realized he was a bit of a challenge and from that point on, he was only assigned to Lee for grooming. She was always pleasant, never complained about his antics and did a great job with him. I could tell she got to know Brady, because she would tell us that she had a system of getting him up on the table (using the lift) as he did not like being picked up. Brady has since passed, but we were grateful to find a nice groomer. My husband has a 7 year old Boxer (Rowan) and she's been going there fairly regularly for boarding and sometimes daycare for about three years. She loves going and we can tell she gets lots of playtime because she passes out in the car on our 5 minute ride home. We've also taken the boxer for behavior training and the instructor was great and the classes reasonably priced. The facilities appear clean and maintained and the staff is always helpful and pleasant. If I had any complaint, it would be that I don't understand the boarding/daycare pricing. It seems like we pay a different rate every time we go... And I can't figure out the boarding + daycare pricing system. I also feel that if you're boarding my dog, daycare should be included in the price. I wonder If I don't pay extra for daycare does my dog have to sit in the kennel all day? Finally, it would be nice if when you first board there, they offered to show you the facilities... Where our dog would be staying. It kind of feels like we are not welcome "behind the staff door"... Where they walk our pups off to at drop-off. I believe the facilities are probably fine, because the rest of the facility looks nice, but it may relieve some concerns when you leave your dog for the first time to have a tour of the boarding kennels and play areas. read more

Will never bring my dog here again! I don't typically bring my dog here anyway, we go to Kool K-9 in Hooksett because they are AMAZING, but unfortunately they are on vacation this week and I was in a bind. Dropped my dog off at 7:15 to go to daycare before I went to work. Then I get a call, not until 9:50 telling me that his kennel cough vaccination is out of date, so he couldn't be in daycare and would be confined by himself. You're telling me it took 2 hours to figure this out, and now my dog who Is extremely anxious and hates to be in confined areas is going to sit for the day until I can pick him up, when I never would have left there in the first place had I been told right away. Seems like a great plan to wait until people get to work before they check these things so they can't come back and get their dog. Well considering I am a teacher working summer school, I can't just leave my students to come get my dog (that I never would have left). So even though it took them 2 hours to call me, not the 10-15 minutes it should have taken to figure this out, I was charged the full price of $27 even though I came to pick him up as soon as I could at 1. They wouldn't even bring him out until I paid. This is the worst customer service I have ever encountered! read more

I brought my dog there ONE time about 10 years ago when we boarded her for a short trip. Upon picking her up she looked awful like she was neglected and sickly. Like another review on here it took her a couple weeks to bounce back. Since that time I've had several voicemails saying her vaccinations were not up to date. I returned the calls and asked for them to take our info out of the system because we have not been since our bad experience and the vet they are calling we haven't used for 10 years. Recently I received these messages again and upon informing them AGAIN we have only been once because of our bad experience I was put on hold.. put on hold when they are the ones calling me...the woman that answered was so unprofessional she told me I had to come pick up my dog from daycare because of vaccinations status....even after explaining this all AGAIN to her... My dog is sitting right next to me at my house and is fully up to date on everything. Pretty incredible the lack of organization and professionalism. Somehow she was trying to ride her high horse and turn it on me like I'm in the wrong.. When in fact she is saying she has my dog there at the facility and its not even my dog. Based off that I'm certain the ONE time for boarding 10 years prior my dog had not received proper care based on my experience. Hopefully that's the last I hear from them because the next route will be reporting them. My dogs are well cared for and will never set foot on their facility! There is a reason for their poor rating on yelp compared to Facebook where they can delete reviews. read more

I have to be honest the girls that work there are not always kind! When I came to pick up my dogs I was given dirty looks. I was made to feel like my dogs where to much for them to handle. I boarded my dogs for a week and I honestly feel like they didn't interact with my dogs. My dogs where sick and depressed. It took them two weeks to get back to there normal happy selves and left all kinds of goodies and I don't believe they were given to my dogs because there where no teeth marks on them. I know my dogs and they chew everything. I payed for my dogs to have pool time and play time which 10-15 mins a day is a joke. I will never board my dogs here again! read more

I guess because I only spent $620 and couldn't afford to spend more money extras like doggie daycare, swimming time, personal attention, etc. nobody paid any attention to my dogs during their first ever boarding experience. I was very nervous leaving them as this was their very first boarding experience and I clearly explained that on check in. When I asked how they did all they could tell me is all their food was gone so I guess they ate. The only conclusion I can come to is that since nobody could tell me how they did when I asked nobody cared for them. Unless you are rich and can afford all the extras when you board (so they can take pictures and such during activities to post on their fb page), nobody will pay any attention to your dogs. I finally got a response today after I left a negative rating on their facebook page. Suddenly they remember who my dogs were and how great they did. I don't believe a word of it. When I ask how they are when I show up to pick them up, someone should be able to tell me immediately, not only when negative feedback is left. Not only is that concerned but so is the fact that they deleted my experience off their facebook page. read more

I would have left her for another night, because we paid, but I have never seen her so excited to get out of there. We stay in a condo, and our dog is an escape artist who hates crates, so we can't bring her and leave her alone there for fear she would trash the place. I would give this place no stars!!! Don't waste your money! So they said my dog is 'too hyper' so they have him not play with other dogs just him and a staff member! My husband called to see how he's doing they said great he's friendly blah blah little I know when we picked him up after a week staying there while we were in Florida he SMELLED LIKE PEE! My dog came home after three days of being in this dump only to have lesions on her nose from trying to get out of the crate they kept her in the entire time....my dog is NOT used to being crated and they swore they don't do that, but behind the scenes is much different. They are also very rude and short with their customers. They treat customers as if they have so many better things to do. I am speaking specifically about the Hooksett location. This place is about one thing, and it's not your pet. Money. They don't give a care in the world about your animal regardless of what they may say. I was 5 minutes late one day due to an accident and heavy traffic on the highway and they would not give me my dog back from their daycare "service". Citing that their business hours are firm and there was "nothing they could do". Instead they held him hostage overnight and then had the audacity to charge me for this dog kidnapping they had pulled over on me. The fact that people were STILL THERE and refused to answer the door when i showed up just beyond boggled my mind. I'm not trying to pick up my dry cleaning, it's my dog. I can understand trying to run a business but to refuse me my dog, essentially my child, shows that these heartless, money grubbers do NOT care at all about my dog or myself. I will NEVER go back again and hope no one else makes the mistake of going there expecting them to care about your dog as much as you do EDIT: And to top it off he has terrible diarrhea now from whatever garbage they fed him. This was the first and last time we will ever board our dog here. We left our Wheaten terrier for a week with clear oral and written feeding instructions and with eight pounds of ground turkey and five mashed sweet potatoes, just enough food for the week. When we arrived to pick our dog up a week later, the sweet potatoes were gone but only about two cups of the eight pounds of ground turkey had been used! Our dog had been starved for a week due to their irresponsibility. This is inexcusable neglect. read more

Great place to use the pool! The pool is nice and big, and my dogs can do laps and they are usually tired after 30 minutes! Great rates too! $20 for 30 minutes! Cant beat that! We were given a gift certificate for The Barking Dog and the first time we left our dog at this place he was attacked by another dog who ripped a hole in our dogs neck. We immediately took our dog to the vet and had him stitched up and treated. Our dog then ended up with an infection which had to be treated with antibiotics. The staff at the barking dog would not help in any way. They wouldn't even give us the other dogs owner information and wouldn't tell him/her to contact us. Their position was pretty much Tough Luck and their attitude was extremely poor. If you love your pet I would recommend against this place. A much better place is Brookwood Pet Resort in Canterbury, NH read more

We have been boarding our two labrador retrievers at The Barking Dog now for about three years. One of our dogs is very social while the other is not. They are wonderful about ensuring both have a great time while boarding. Our young girl goes to daycare and gets to swim (she LOVES this!) and our older boy gets private playtime and snuggles. It is very telling that they both love to arrive (they never look back at me - they run to the door without even noticing I'm leaving) and they come home happy and full of wags. I had to board my dog for two nights in September 2013. I arrived on Sunday to pick him up and as I was waiting I saw all these happy dogs coming out to greet their owners. When my dog finally came out he could barely walk, his tail was wrapped from an injury and his paws were so swollen he could barely walk! The tail injury he had was sustained when we were required to bring him in for a day care "evaluation" back in August prior to boarding. The staff told me he chased his tail continuously on a concrete pad. They tried to put a blanket down to help cushion. That just got all balled up. My poor dog ended up having 4" of his tail amputated due to the injury. We will never recommend The Barking Dog to anyone. read more

Boarded my 3 dogs there for 3 days this past weekend. When I picked them up, they did not have to run to relieve themselves so that was a great sign & they were all bathed for free, as part of the 3 day stay. They looked, smelled & felt great. We sent my puppy to the Barking Dog for a week and we picked him up and he now has an awful bladder infection, we found this out from him peeing all over the floor. He doesn't recognize his name at alll either. I'm very dissapointed and after spending so much money for this I am beyond irritated. We plan to call when the office is open in the morning. read more

I've been bringing my medium-sized dog to the Hooksett location for a year and a half and he absolutely loves it. We do daycare, boarding and training. The prices are very reasonable, and the staff is wonderful. The facility is huge, it's very clean and there is even a heated, indoor dog pool! My dog is always really excited when he gets dropped off which is a really good indication of his experiences there. I am really surprised by some of the negative reviews on here, of which a couple in particular seem unreasonable and unfounded. read more

Definitely skip this place. The management there is awful. I started bringing my dog for half days in Dec. 08. I was told, when I called, that it was okay to bring my dog in between 11 and 12pm. Today when I went in, the manager informed me that I needed to bring my dog in at 12:30 or else I would have to pay for the entire day. It was 11:45 at the time and she wouldn't budge, even though I explained that I had been told previously that it was okay. I am currently 8 months pregnant, and bringing my dog back would have been difficult. And on principal, I was not about to shell out extra money for a mere 45 minutes. The manager essentially made me feel as if I were lying to save a mere $8! I understand that there are strict drop off times and would have been happy to abide going forward, but in this case a good manager would have made an exception. I will not bring my dog back to Barking Dog again. The management is terrible and my dog never seems to be that tired when she comes home from Barking Dog. Sendaishi in Goffstown or All Dogs gym is a much better bet. read more
