It sucks that this is the biggest pet store and one of the very very few options to get small animals from. Animals like hamsters, fish, birds ex are not well taken care of or in suitable spaces. The beta fish especially its just straight animal abuse. They sell a lot of products for every animal that is unsafe or just shouldn't be on the shelves. Ex: small or wire wheels, ridiculously small cages (tip: go buy a large Walmart clearance storage bin) and even some food that has possibly toxic ingredients My heart goes out to the animals who have to suffer that place hope something changes. I ended up buying a couple goldfish for my aquarium at home and the fish were healthy. It seems like they take care of the fish as the tanks are clean and no dead fish floating around. So far my fish are still doing well after a month. For those customers who are upset that staff would not sell a goldfish because a tank is too small - One fancy goldfish requires 20 gallons and 10 gallon for each additional goldfish is the general rule. For koi, you need even more space as they can grow even larger than the fancy goldfish. Also, many new aquarium owners do not realize that the tank needs to be cycled before fish can be introduced. Pet stores overstock fish tanks to sell the fish which many people do not realize. It is great that staff are asking customers these important questions because it is cruel to kill the fish (due to poor water conditions and improper care) because someone did not do their research and buying on impulse usually does not end up well for the pet (even if it's "just a fish"). I found said fish tank for way less than I thought we would (with a stand and all!) + friendly staff who had a discussion with my boyfriend about which types of fish will suit the tank. I've brought my dog in to spoil her - and you know how it is once one dog pees [if you don't know, all subsequent dogs will pee in the same spot] and had the horror of my house broken dog doing so in the store, and in front of staff no less. Great store for most things. We adopted our cat from there many years ago and recently got into the whole aquarium thing. Great for tanks and stands and equipment. Not so great for experienced advice on fish and plants. You get the basic low down but in fairness the employees are mostly very young first job people not experienced aquatic experts. The aquatic plant selection is small and most of them are unhealthy compared to petland. In short, petsmart for equipment and for live fish and plants hit petland and get the benefit of real knowledge and healthy selections. read more

I admit it... I love big clean super well stocked big box stores... Petsmart is all of that, but FILLED with animal people. When you get there you can watch the dog and cat groomers at work. I swear it is better than sitcoms to watch a Persian cat get shaved. The staff are super friendly (not in the creepy way) and know their stuff. I go in there relatively often, and have never had a moment of bad service. Seriously, a place where your puppy can pee on the floor and people laugh indulgently? We were told there was a Valentine's day party happening and there would be free treats and a kiss cam and special offers. We got there and there was a little table with treats (that you had to pay for) and some other things, which also were needed to be paid for. We asked where the free treats and kiss cam were and they said they were only doing it in the states and that we should go down to Bellingham which is a few hour drive. Dropped into the grooming studio to try to get my dogs nails trimmed. I have been to three other professional groomers, none of whom were able to cut my anxious dogs nails. I am so glad I stopped in to give it one more try. Chris is an amazing groomer! She held my dog until she stopped shaking, and gently used the Dremel tool to cut her nails. She is amazing! I am so grateful that I have finally found a great grooming studio for my dog! read more

We have visited this store twice. All the people here are really nice and are knowledgable about most things. The girl who helped us, her name was Natasha I believe, was really nice as well. The only problem about this store is that we purchase a $300 fish tank that's in a box, when we got home, it was broken. The top piece was broken and we were so disappointed. It was late at night and Petsmart was closed. So we just decided to go the next day after work. The next day, they didn't have the same Fluval 45 bow complete set Aquarium that we purchased from the Strawberry Hill Pet Smart location in Surrey BC. So we had to drive all the way to Langley to get a replacement. After we got home, we went back to the same Petsmart in Strawberry Hill Location, and we bought a Fish Tank Stand for around $180. Once we got home and very excited and forgot about how frustrated we were as it was very inconvenient for us to transport these big stuff, when we open the box of the Fist Stand, our heart sank. The wood piece are cracked in half! We were so frustrated and not really satisfied with our purchase. It was very disappointing. I am writing this while we're trying to figure out what to do now. We are just gonna go back to Petsmart tomorrow and just have to return this stuff. Sigh... We are not really satisfied and would actually give bad reviews about Petsmart products. The only good thing about our experience was the people that works there are all nice. Hopefully they can help us with our problem. I hate going here but because they are the biggest store and get the largest shipment of hornworms we go here. First off I have had a few bad experiences with a girl who works in the reptile department. I find her rude and unprofessional. Second I have seen how the reptiles come packaged and it's disgusting. In tiny boxes where they can't move with no food or water. Not something you should let a customer see. Third which is the worst I have been standing in line and have watched the grooming department and it's horrible. They are very ruff with the dogs. I even caught a girl smack a dog for no reason which I went to management about. I see them yell at the dogs and talk about customers. I would NEVER recommend going here for anything unless you have to. I don't even own a dog and it makes me sick. read more

This review is of the Puppy Kindergarten class we took our 4 month old pug to last year. It was about $135 dollars with tax and ran 6 Tuesday nights in a row for an hour. There were 4 dogs in our class. What I liked: - Good basic commands: Our dog got better at sitting, staying, leave it, etc. I think petsmart is actually a good location to do it in because there are A LOT of distractions (don't get fooled, you spend the majority of the time around the store and not in that little training area they have). There are some things he just didn't get, but overall I feel like we did walk away better than we went in. - Individualized support: Our trainer did a nice job of trying to help each dog as they struggled with certain activities. She was there after class to answer questions to as well. We had a small class though, so I'm not sure that you'd always get as much one-on-one time. - It was convenient: They had lots of classes running and you could choose from dozens of class times. We didn't have to, but I heard her say if you missed a class, they'll try to slot you into another one to make up for it. This was probably the main reason we picked petsmart training in the first place. What I didn't like: - Some of the information was too basic: Our trainer went over things like how to housebreak, why you should feed a high quality food, etc. Our class already knew it all, and it so she often skipped that stuff and we had extra time. She had trouble figuring out with what to do with the extra time. This lead to: - Being let out early: We often got out 10 minutes early and on our last day she stopped us almost 25 minutes early. It might not seem like much, but these are only 60 minute long classes to begin with. I wish we could have gotten all the time to be able to work on the problem areas each of our dogs had. I feel like I didn't get my full money's worth because of that. - The trainer had limited knowledge: If we ever had any questions out of the "curriculum", it became pretty clear the trainer didn't really know the answers and was guessing. She even told us the first day of class that she doesn't have a dog herself, and hasn't owned one in years. I'd ask to see the curriculum when you sign up to determine if it will fit in with what you need to know. There's very little customization. Overall I probably wouldn't take another puppy class because really once you learn the information they gave there wouldn't be much more to learn. I'm not disappointed that we took this one though. I think your best bet is finding a really good independent trainer who lives and breathes dogs and can really tailor the training to their group. Unfortunately, for those of us who live in the middle of the city and don't know how to find these people, Petsmart is a decent and convenient alternative. read more

Big & spacious, convenient location, clean, friendly staff, and they carry Halo cat & dog foods for a decent price, too! I got a great cat tower on sale, and my cats love it!!! I used to get really nervous watching my cats jump on and off of the cat tower because it would shake and the top would start leaning, but not this one. My boy, who is fairly large (Main Coon mix) is comfortable lying on it, and I am comfortable watching him lying on it. I wish I had gotten another one while the sale was still on. Went to get an aquarium for my 4 year old daughter. Saw a 36 gallon one with stand for sale, asked rep to grab for me while my daughter decided what fish she wanted. Only fish she wanted had a 55 gallon tank requirement so after the rep brought out the heavy tank and stand, I changed my mind and got the bigger one. My wife went to PetSmart to buy some dogfood and some cat food. They offered a price of $72 for the bag, but if ordered online there was a 15% discount .. I texted her the details but the store would not honour the price even though I had screen shots of the discounted price from their store ..THEN they said to order it online and they'd process it'quickly' ... so I did .. paid by MC via PayPal ... Some time went by but the store couldn't see the transaction. PayPal said they were waiting for PetSmart and PetSmart was waiting for PayPal ... in limbo ..Then, after 15 mins, the manager said she would do the online price ... now I'm told to cancel the order. PayPal says to contact PetSmart... Was on hold forever .. What a waste of an hour for $15 ... Finally got a Customer service rep at PetSmart who was an airhead .. a nice airhead mind you, who put me through to her supervisor when asked, who could only say "I'm sorry sir" and could not do anything to resolve my issue NOR was willing to do do anything regarding their lousy policies that result in unhappy customers. What a backward company... They've lost me as a customer. They said it was at the discretion of the manager of this store who, after an hour finally agreed to give us the discounted price ... but now I'm battling PayPal to get my $100+ back...Stay away if you require any customer service ... it is non-existent. read more

I bring my puppy here ONLY because it is close to me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The groomers here are getting terrible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. There is a large sign at the entrance to the store about GROOMING WHILE YOU SHOP. ie. face trim ,nail trim paw pads all in 15 min..I asked about it when I brought her in and NOBODY in the groomers knew about the sign. The male groomer said it would take more than the 15 min stated .Nobody in the store knew about the sign. I finally gave up ,paid for the nail trim and feet trim. I am a long time customer of petsmart. I have always supported your store. I always buy things there for my dogs and get all my grooming for my dogs done there as well. I myself have been in the customer service industry for a very long time. I am now the supervisor for United Airlines, so I know how my customers should be treated no matter what pressure your under. On April 19th I had gone into the Langley store on 200th. I understand with this pandemic going on everyone is very stress and it's not the greatest times but I have never ever been treated with so much disrespect and racism. I was literally crying when I left the store. We had lined up in-front of the store. There was a total 5 of us in our family. The lady that was handling the line at this time was super nice. Than walked out a employee of yours named Barrie. She literally came out and said "you guys all going into the store" ? And we had answered "yes". She than rolled her eyes and continued to walk away. We were taken back as we just tried to make the best out of this situation. We brushed it off and continued walking into the store. We were there to buy my sister in law a little fish as her mom just passed away we were trying to make the best out of the situation and trying to keep her mind of things. We waited over 45 minutes in the fish section asking for help. The girl that was there kept brushing us off and helping the next customer. Than my brother said I bet she's ignoring us cause we are brown. I was so taken back. When she went to go help the 5th customer that came after us we had let her know we were waiting over 45 mins to be helped and she looked at us and said it's very busy there's only one of me and I'm helping other people. We let her know we we're there before them and she stuck her hand out and basically was like wait. Within those 45 minutes we went to the store manager twice asking if someone else can help. The first time around he said he'll send someone over but no one came. We continued waiting and waiting. Than my sister in law approached Barrie. Asked if she could help and she said "there's a pandemic going on right now and you guys are complaining about buying a fish. This is ridiculous" I was so angry at this point and had enough. I than went to Jamie the store manager and told him what had happened and what Barrie had said to us and he looked at us smiled and said OK .. and I said well are you going to do anything about this or can you help us and he said "not at this moment". I was so shocked and embarrassed the way my family and I were treated. As a manager he should of apologized and said I will help you. Instead he held a clipboard in hand and walked around not caring. As a manager you need leadership. They kept going back and forth on there ear piece radios saying things about my family and I. I felt so uncomfortable and so unwelcomed. I would like this to be taken further into investigation and would like an apology from Barrie and the store manager Jamie. We understand there is a crazy time but they need to understand and learn to handle this pressure as we were not going through such a good time ourself. Petsmart Langley is AWESOME! The staff rocks and they are so very helpful. I have my hands full with a 1 year old Rottie named Parker. Petsmart training is the best we've had and we tried two others. The trainer (Jen) has given Parker much time, training, patience and tips that have made this training very effective. The store always has stock of any supplies I need and the staff always provide knowledgeable product information. They take the time and it is VERY much appreciated! read more

Training classes - The trainers only take a short program to learn how to train, and their methods are questionable. They often recommend corrective collars for puppies as young as 3 months of age. Many of the trainers don't even have their own dogs. I haven't heard of any that have actually trained and titled dogs in obedience. They don't take the time to build on the individual dog's abilities, instead just going ahead with the curriculum at the level of the more advanced dogs in class. Many dogs fall through the cracks this way. The dogs (and owners) are constantly set up to fail, because the expectation is that the dog is obedient to the level that the curriculum dictates. I would never take my dog, or future dogs, to Petsmart for training. read more

Today was the worst experience I have ever had at this store. I went i today to sign my dog up for beginners classes. I was speaking to the trainer about my yorkie and she had me fill out the paper work for the classes while I was doing so another girl that also worked at petsmart was talking to me as well and she told me that when we come to the classes next week I better not dress my dog or the other dogs will make fun of her. How insulting they sell clothes at petsmart? Then after we had finished the paper work a large dog walked by and my 3lb yorkie barked at him and the trainer then wriped up my dogs enromnent peper work in my face and said my dog is aggressive to other dogs and is not welcome in there classes. Both her and Tiffany did this in a very taunting and rude manner. I will be calling head office tomorrow but if you want grat customer service don't go to the langley store. read more

I usually love petsmart and am in there on average twice a week. I have 2 dogs, a cat and a turtle, so am always stopping in for whatever. I have noticed lately that there have been a lot of out of stocks and today had to have been the worst. I went for the following: 1- thermometer all out of stock again, (my second trip for this) they did have a digital one but all I needed was a regular stick on the side one. 2- turtle water conditioner block, out of stock again. They did have the higher priced one, but my turtle prefers the bigger, softer one. 3-superworms. Out of stock still! I went on sunday and they were out. I was told they come in tuesdays. Today is thursday and they are already out? If they are selling out in under two days, perhaps ordering more is in order? how many customers (not to mention pets) are doing without? 4-cat litterbox scooper which they did have yeah!! 1 out of 4? pretty bad I was also not impressed with the lady who helped me find the cat scooper. I asked where they were and got a vague wave of her hand and a glib "at the end of the litters" Fine. Head over to get the super worms and lo and behold, the same lady is in the fish dept. I asked her for the worms and she says "Ask that girl over there" I think for her to have said to me that she wasn't sure and perhaps had gone over to ask the clerk herself instead of making me feel like I was a bother. As I was heading to the checkout the lady who didn't help me much at all smirks at me and says "Guess you didn't do too well today" UGGH. with the price of gas these days, I suggest you phone to make sure they have the products you need in stock. read more

Petsmart was always my favourite pet store when I first started my freshwater aquariums. I was recommended by a petsmart employee a high protein fish food called nutrafin bug bites (size.small) and have never turned back from this food. It's the only fish food.my guppys will eat now. Well it's been almost 4 weeks of waiting for petsmart to restock this fish food (both Windsor, Ontario locations) and have had about 12 guppys in both of my tanks die while waiting for this food to be restocked. Found another pet store that carries and restocks this fish food. Will be taking all my business and fish tanks needs there. read more

Terrible service! They wouldn't sell us goldfish' because they didn't believe that we had an appropriate tank. The manager, dorky guy with glasses and tattoos and all the people in the fish department need not to tell us we're being in humane for not having a big enough tank when they sell goldfish in plastic bags. They than offered us betta fish with a smile said "oh sorry we're out" so my two year old daughter doesn't get a fish for Christmas. Thanks you pieces of shit. Do not go here. The store manager Caroline is the worst manager and very unhelpful. I went there to purchase a feeding syringe for my cat as I have to manually feed him. Found one but the packaging was damaged & seal broken so when I was a the cash register asked if I can have a discount for it as it's not perfect or a new one with undamaged packaging. The cashier called over the Store Manager Caroline, dirty blond hair, short hair, overweight woman around early 30s and she told me that since the syringe is not damaged, I couldn't have a discount. I said how do you know that someone didn't tamper with it? I was going to put it in the dishwasher to disinfect it but as a Store Manager, she should have checked their inventory to see there is anything in stock. Nothing. No offer. Then another larger woman came and stared at me like "you silly girl, why would you even ask that?" look. 2 overweight woman staring down at me. Wow... What customer service. I'm asian not that that big, it was really intimidating. Anyways, if you are Asian or other than caucasian, don't go here. When I went got there it was their "friends and family" day, I got no "welcome to petsmart" like all other caucasian customers, all I got was a cold shoulder. If you ever have to deal with Caroline, the store manager, it's hopeless as she is not very helpful She told me as I was paying, "if you buy it, take it home & if you don't like it, return it." yeah and try to sell it to another person with broken packaging. What a joke. Uncaring, clueless woman. Don't you think perhaps when people buy things, they don't want broken things? If it is, don't you think you can offer them a discount for taking this item off your inventory? I'm not going back & I'm writing a complaint letter to Petsmart Canada. Awful, just awful. read more

This is a great place for all your pet's needs! The staff are awesome and extremely knowledgeable. I've been shopping there for years and especially now their fish/reptiles/etc. department has been exceptional. It's a whole new place, the staff really seem dedicated and know what they're talking about. They go that extra mile just to make sure you're happy. The poster below speaking about goldfish bowls may have encountered some poor information, but I can definitely say now you won't find that now. I've watched staff stick up for the goldfish and do their best to change the minds of potential owners, setting them up with a filtered tank so they can properly take care of their new pets. i come here to take my dog lucy for her monthly haircut appointment. she is a small sweet old dog. we walk around store before she gets her haircut. we look for treat for her. lucy has a very bad dog bowel. very irritable. today was accpetionally bad. this morning i find lucy passed out beside an empty box of treat in the kitchen. her belly is very stiff and bloat. i wake her up but she just lay there with eye open. like hangover LOL. her tummy make a strang noise. she is constipates i think. i give her the laxative from vet. eventually he drink alot of waters. u must be thirsty haha i say. so we are walking through the fish department. i pick her up and show here th fishes. she donot care. strange brcause she rly likes thrm and wags the tale. her belly still feels rly stiff. i dont think the laxative are working so i give her a little mor. i give max recommend vet dose. 10 min later we are still waiting for haircut. we looking at treat for her to eat after haircut. lucy not interested!! she is very fat and i never seen this!!! she is always hungery.. wow i say. we walk towards dog toy shelfs. lucy start to walk slow. lucy look depressed. her tummy rumbles so so loud. other customer hear. there very confusrd. we are almost here. i lightly tug leash. lucy come on i say.lucy stops walking and stare into the floor. she wont move. lucy begin shaking violently. she look up at me with beady sacred eye. no... lucy crouch and the poop comes. lucy no. its shooting very fast out of the dog anus.. mach II poopoo paints the floor. other customers are disgusted. it smell so bad. the people will gag. she finaly stops. i never seen so much from the tiny fat creature. she look very reliefed. the smells so so fowl. pets mart respresentive employee rushes and ask what happen. she gags and plugs the nose. i explain story. she tells me i have to clean up. me?!? no isay. she is very rude. no i say. if we donot clean we must leav she say. lucy has a important appoinment and we do not have time to clean up i say. woman donots care. we will go i say. nice selection of fishes i say. it a shame because i want to buy grand son (boy) one i say. i will buy t somewhere else i say. bye. read more
