I just want to thank the manager in the grooming salon for her excellent service. As a first time customer, she went above and beyond to service my baby Duke. Her and her team are wonderful ladies. I would recommend anyone to go there and see what they are about. Thank you Alyssa!

***If you care about your dog, read the reviews and TRUST them. Do not bring your pet here, unless you want them to end up at an animal hospital like myself and others. I brought my dog to this location for a simple grooming appointment and ended up spending hours in an animal hospital on Memorial Day. When I arrived for my 9:15am appointment, Jolina mentioned it would take her longer than normal due to having 3 other dogs ahead of him. That should have been a red flag in itself being that they had just opened and already had 3 dogs AHEAD of mine despite my appointment. There were 3 other groomers in the salon and only one of them were actively grooming when we arrived. At 1:30pm, I received a call from the Store Lead, Jessie, who in the most unbothered tone continued to tell me my dog is in route to an animal hospital in Clifton due to an "accident" but couldn't give me any details as to what actually happened other than the fact that my dog was bleeding on his leg and that he's not sure why or how it happened. He continued to say "This isn't common but because there is blood we need to take precautionary measures and bring him in....but oh don't worry, we won't charge you for the appointment"... obviously!!!! This is clearly common for them if you read the other review where this exact scenario has already happened. I asked Jessie who had my dog and he mentioned Joline was in route with him and "not to engage with her". I rushed to the animal hospital to find Jessie himself and Joline standing in the lobby followed by a trail of blood that was coming from my dog's paw. As I approached the two, the Vet did as well and I asked What happened and how bad is the cut, given the amount of blood droplets all over the lobby floor. Jolina wouldn't even look at me and Jessie says to the Vet "Oh this is the owner so we'll let him take over from here". He quickly passes off the leash and tries to make a dash for the exit. I stop him mid-exit and ask where he was going and who was going to cover the bill. He then goes "Oh they have our information, they can just forward us the bill if any"....If any???? It's an animal hospital!!! After they both make a quick dash, I sat in the vet room for hours after they determined that Jolina cut off my dog's Dew Claw with the clippers. A dew claw needs to be removed surgically if it becomes a problem. My dog's dew claw was not problematic. Dew claws are connected to large veins which is why he was bleeding so profusely. It's basically a dog's pinky toe! Because of the amount of blood, they ended up having to sedate him (which can be fatal) so they could get a better look. While sedated, they had to supply stitches to the wound to stop the bleeding. After waiting almost another hour, the Vet was able to connect with Petsmart to cover the $1,400 medical bill and I was left with a BARELY HALFWAY shaved dog, who now has a cone on his head, stitches, and is on antibiotics. I also had to miss work the next day to monitor his reaction to the 3 different drugs he will be taking for the next 10 days. I understand accidents happen but they didn't even have the common decency to apologize, let alone follow up with a phone call to make sure everything was ok afterward. They handed him over at the Vet, foot the bill and moved on to the next appointment. It's obvious that they were overbooking themselves and rushing through groomings because of how aggressively she must have been trimming down his leg to cut off an entire appendage!! The fact that I was called at 1:30pm with a 9:15am appointment and my dog was only halfway shaved down his back, goes to show they overbooked and rushed to finish him, which ultimately led to an amputation due to their carelessness. Learn from my mistake and the mistakes of others in these reviews - DO NOT BRING YOUR PET HERE!

First of all, this location is literally 5 minutes from my house so I may be a bit biased on the convenience. The employees are always super helpful, I always go in with a new question about a product or a dog treat. A few weeks ago I found a flea on my dog, all hell broke loose. I ran here and attacked the manager with questions. He told me to calm down (haha) and showed me the way to all his go to products. It was nice to have someone be that caring during my mental flea breakdown. They're always having good sales too. My doggo is tiny so I come here frequently to check out the sales on sweaters for the winter. Recently they had FREE pictures with santa! Of course I grabbed Jacky and we went to visit Santa Paws! He hated it and I got my christmas picture out of it. Santa was also super nice, my dog is so energetic and he handled him so well. Thanks Petsmart!

While petsitting my neighbor's cat Cleo, I visited the Kearny PetSmart location a few times. I was surprised to see how nice it was inside. It's a good-sized store, well-stocked, and organized. There's a varied selection of cat food, and I was able to find Cleo's brand (Wellness). The cashiers have always been very nice to me and the lines go quickly. I have not seen the store get super crowded (this may be because the store is relatively new). One of the best reasons to go to this location is convenience because it is so close to other shopping plazas along that strip of Passaic Avenue. The location also has a grooming section. This location is now my go-to PetSmart.

    Cut on her abdomen

I managed to get a last-min grooming app for this past Wednesday and since this location is so close to me compared to my usual one (Secaucus) I decided to give it a chance. Never again. When I arrived two employees were clipping a dog's nails. I've never heard a dog cry so much before. I spoke to the dog's owner and she told me that overall she's been happy with their service so that calmed my nerves. I dropped off my 7year old, very friendly, Lhasa Apso without any issues. 2 hours later I get a call saying they've accidentally nicked my dog's tail. This has never happened before. I've taken my dog to 3 different grooming locations and everyone has always told me she's well behaved and very calm during her service. We've never had an accident before. They also nicked her abdomen and her face was unevenly cut. Be careful whom you leave your pet with! I unfortunately can't remember the name of the groomer but our app was on Wednesday at 1:30pm and there were two women working. One light-skinned Hispanic and one dark-skinned woman.

As first-time dog owners, we tried our best to train Millie on our own, but it just wasn't cutting it. We constantly struggled with obedience and her inability to listen to us, intense pulling when we went on walks, jumping, getting mouthy - the list goes on and on. We felt defeated and insecure - but as soon as we talked with Jean and Linda at NJ Fix My Dog, we felt hopeful! They assured us Millie was the kind of dog that could be helped, and they'd be happy to step in.  Throughout Millie's 2 week bootcamp, we received frequent updates from Linda on Millie's progress, photos, and videos. We missed her but we knew she was in excellent care and learning so much everyday. After the 2 week bootcamp, Linda brought Millie home and we were in shock at how well-behaved, and well-mannered suddenly became. The day she came home, Linda spent over an hour with us going over what Millie learned and how to work with her going forward. She also gave us a full document with an assessment of Millie's overall behavior, how to continue to enforce what she learned, and how encourage her along the way.  Before bootcamp, we dreaded going for a walk with Millie because of how she behaved when she saw other dogs (pulling toward them, whimpering, getting anxious, etc.), and how she walked in general (tugging and zig-zagging the entire walk). Now she walks like an absolute DREAM! Right at our side, a nice little trot, ignores other dogs, people, squirrels - everything! We could walk her all day long now, and we look forward to all our walks! Millie used to ignore us when we called for her, or told her "no" if she was doing something we didn't like, but now her recall skills are excellent and she runs right over to us when we call her. She doesn't even try to attempt the bad behavior she used to do, like jumping, getting mouthy, etc., and instead happily relaxes. Her overall demeanor used to be just a little bit intense, always on the lookout for something to get into - but now she is so calm and seems at east with herself. Linda worked WONDERS! We learned so much about Millie through this process, and we truly feel comfortable with what Linda taught us to help Millie be her best self. We feel like we have the tools we need, and the confidence. We feel the support of NJ Fix My Dog now even after Millie is back home - we know Linda is just a call or text away if we need any help.

We were fully aware of what a puppy goes through at this age, however, we had never seen a puppy so independent/head strong before. Given we have two young daughters (9 & 5), we wanted to ensure our puppy established a solid behavior foundation. We found Jean & Fix My Dog after unsuccessfully working with a few different trainers online. Within the first 30 minutes of our session with Jean, we had already learned so much about both our new puppy's and our own behaviors. After the hour was over, we were very confident we had found the right place to help us with our puppy training. Given the current pandemic, we hoped to find a trainer that could not only help with the behavioral issues, but also socialize our pup well enough to other dogs, people, children, etc. As a result, Jean paired us up with Christy, a trainer who lives on a lot of land, has dogs and other animals, and plenty of people around to help socialize our pup. We spoke with Christy on the phone to go over her approach, felt great about it, came up with a list of behavioral focus areas, signed a contract, selected a day for Christy to come pick up our puppy, and off she went for 2 weeks! The training process was handled so well.. Christy kept us informed with photos, videos, and lots of daily updates. We were even able to do a few online video sessions to see our puppy and to ask questions about how the training was going. It was 100% clear that our puppy was getting the attention she needed and was being trained as part of a family and not as just another dog in a training facility. (SO IMPORTANT!) We were noticing tremendous progress with our puppy over videos after the first few days of training. When she returned home after the 2 weeks were up, it was almost as if we had a perfectly re-wired puppy. It was absolutely clear that the training was effective and our puppy now had a solid behavioral foundation to work with. Christy and her family were extremely loving with our dog, and were clearly able to address all of the behavioral points we asked for through positive reinforcement and appropriate correction practices. Upon her return, we received many instructional videos and a manual to keep us (owners) in line on how to maintain all of the great work put in place. If you were like us, seeking a trainer to help build a strong behavioral foundation for your puppy, I would HIGHLY recommend Christy @ NJ Fix My Dog. We simply could not have found a better situation both for us and our puppy.
