I had a very disappointing experience at PetSmart today. I came in to buy food for both my dog and my cat and ended up spending around $200, so clearly I was a paying customer. While shopping, I asked one of the cashiers (I believe her name was Jessica) if she could provide the restroom passcode. She told me she would send someone right away. I waited over 10 minutes, and no one ever came to assist. After finishing my purchase, I asked again and was told that the restroom is only for customers. That response was frustrating, considering I had just spent a significant amount of money in the store. I even asked, half seriously, how much I needed to spend to actually be considered a "customer," since no one had helped me. It's not really about the restroom itself it's about basic customer service and follow through. Being told someone will help and then being completely ignored is unacceptable. Absolute disaster! Tren was the groomer. You'd think she hadn't even been groomed at all. She came back with dirty face, dirty ears, a cut paw. This guy doesn't know what he's doing. Even the fur between her paw pads hadn't been shaved. What a waste of time and money. I had to take her to another groomer to get her fixed. Buyer beware of kindness talk but no real skills to be grooming dogs. And because of his terrible skills my girl had to suffer with a cut paw pad for two weeks after. read more

I have been taking my Princess here for 5 years! The last 2 times, she did not get adequate service. This time I paid for an extra pampering package. Special shampoo, nail grind, teeth cleaning and bandana for Easter! I had to ask for the bandana, asked about teeth brushing, oh, didn't see that. Nails not ground as expected. It was ceces first haircut at 6 months old and the experience in my opinion was great :3 I chose the #4 cut for her but next time I'm going to opt for the #5 or #6, because #4 was too short for our taste. Totally not their fault though you get what you pick and you'll know better for next time. Cece did great they said for her first time! So I'm glad our dog didn't give them too much trouble to work with. I've seen bad reviews for here, but I understand the staff side because if they deny a procedure for your dog it's for the safety of the staff to avoid any aggressive transactions. My cat feifei was boarding in PetsHotel from October 16 to November 10, 2023. One month after I get my baby feifei back home, I notice he does not eat as well as he usually does and baby feifei is losing weight that really concerns. I took feifei to animal hospital. Unfortunately, feifei was diagnosed FeLV on Jan 11, 2024! Doctor says this is uncurable disease and cat will die. I and doctor tried best to extend feifei's life, however, baby feifei passed away on April 5, 2024 due to bone marrow suppression and inflammatory bowel disease(consequence of FeLV). My heart was broken! I am in tears everyday as I miss my baby feifei so much! I wrote a letter to manager of PetsHotel of PetSmart, strongly suggest screening cat for FeLV prior to boarding. Till now no response. So I am posting a note here warning pet owner to be careful before you send your beloved cat to PetsHotel of PetSmart. I recently visited this location with my cat in the hopes of utilizing grooming services, specifically for nail clipping and bathing. However, they said that these services are only available for dogs on weekends, and not for cats!!!! And they only do have services for cats only during the week days , from 10 to 5pm!!!!!!! So my dog recently attended the dog training class with Julie Smith and I couldn't be happier. I have an American Bully who is very social and smart but very stubborn . Julie was able to give me tips and show me ways to train and handle my big baby . She always went out of her way to make sure he was comfortable , always very personable and friendly and helped relieve some of the stress I had trying to get my dog to listen. One thing you have to do while training and after is continue working with your dog everyday repeat the same commands until it sinks in. Overall I was extremely happy with the service I received and would most definitely recommend Julie especially if you have any kind of Bully she's an expert with them. read more

I have been coming here for the past year and havent really had an issue, but lately the staff has gotten so rude. I called 2:50ish to ask about an online order I put and wanted to know if the order went thru because I didnt get confirmation and their system wouldnt let me log into my petsmart account. She then cuts me off in the middle of telling her my situation and says "im going to call you back in 5 minutes bye" so before she could hang up i replied "do you have my number" She then says "yea yea" and hangs up! RUDE its 3:30 now and no call back. So I call back and she says " Ma am i tried to call you back but YOU hung up" I said "nope you did" then proceeds to give me some excuse that she placed the line on "PARK" , no she didnt, she legit said "I will call you back" My order was authorized to my card and isnt showing up on their website. No one likes their money being taken and told the order is not in their system. Tess was her name. She changed her tone once I asked for her name. I've taken my dog here twice. EXTREME DISAPPOINTMENT. First time took him over for a haircut and a bath. Came out really clean but I didn't see a single difference on the hair trim. Second time was 2 weeks ago. Took him over for a deshedding bath. Got home and he was shedding all over the house like what did y'all really be doing back there? Because obviously not your job. Placed and paid for an online order. When I showed up at the store, I pushed the button at the display at the front TWICE over 5 minutes. Waited 10 minutes for someone to wander up and ask what my name was. I could have picked the items, paid for them and been driving home in the time it took me to wait for them. And there was hardly anyone in the store. The managers there look very unhappy. PetSmart clearly didn't think this "order online/pick up in store" through. Unlike other stores that bring your order out to you, this option is not available at PetSmart. The only reason we ordered online was because of the discount we received when doing so. The employees at this Petsmart are slow, incompetent, and could fool you into thinking they ENJOY wasting your time. Last time I was in, I asked an employee if he could call someone to help me get live crickets. He told me he could get it, then instead of calling someone else to help, proceeded to make me wait 20 minutes while he helped another customer without any sense of urgency. I eventually got fed up and asked the cashier to call someone else over to help me. When the other employee arrived, the first employee told him, "I got it," while still with the other customer, instead of letting him just help me so I could get out and on with my night. Extremely frustrating, appalling, and terrible service. I will say the second employee tried hard to de-escalate my clear impatience and anger, but it ended just as poorly when the first employee checks me out not saying a word, a "thank you," or a "have a good day," when handing me my receipt. Unacceptable service. Also, I noticed that first employee, when getting pet crabs for a boy and his mother, scooping water from various tanks to put in the container with the crabs, which is very unsafe for them. He couldn't give any confident or clear answers to the family about caring for the crabs or the goldfish they got (I was there waiting long enough to hear it all) and I don't know how he is working in Pet Care. I suppose this location will be getting lots of returns for dead fish and small animals. read more

This is the Petsmart I always go to. Its in a good area that's conveniently located by Target and other stores I visit. I have been very happy with the check out employees here. They are always very friendly and love to see what animals people have brought along. Sometimes I am displeased with the restocking staff because they will have cart loads of stuff and not be vigila t as to where the customers are. I was looking for a collar once and two staff members were chatting about their weekend and the girls they hit on and were not even courteous enough to move the large cart of items to be reshelved. This store is nice in that it has good selection and some really awesome employees. Then there are a couple bad Apple employees that need a reminder about customer service. read more

We entrusted PetSmart Pet Hotel at the PetSmart on Eldridge with the task of looking after our 4 cats and it was a decision that we BITTERLY REGRETTED. DO NOT BOARD YOUR PETS WITH THEM! We had a 10 day trip booked and we spent many days researching pet hotels and actually visiting them and talking to the employees in order to choose the best place for the cats. We visited PetSmart Pet Hotel quite a few times and ended up choosing it. Each cat needed some medicine and we wanted to ensure that they would be given them on the dates specified by the vet. PetSmart Pet Hotel employees guaranteed to us that that would not be a problem. And since administering medicines to cats is not an easy task and PetSmat Pet Hotel employees told us that was something they hardly ever did, one of the employees called Banfield pet hospital (located in the same building) and asked them if they could do it. Banfield employees promptly agreed to assist. We filled out all the forms they provided us (cats' behavior, feeding, any physical issue, purpose of medication, dates, etc) in detail. We went over everything with them when we dropped them off. Plus, I informed them that, if they were let out to play for a bit, the two kittens could play together, but the older ones should be done individually in order to avoid problems. The employees, as well as the sub-manager were very nice, assuring us that they would be well looked after. It wasn't even 24 hours later, once we had already dropped the cats and reached our destination, that our problems started. We received a call from PetSmart Pet Hotel main manager informing us that Banfield was going to charge $20.00 per cat per medicine administered. Nobody had ever mentioned this charge. The only charge advised was a $2.00 charge pet cat per medicine that the Pet Hotel would bill. In the end, an additional charge of almost $250.00 was added to our bill. A couple of days passed and another big surprise came when the sub-manager told me that the older one was being mean to the others. I asked her if she had let the 4 of them out at the same time and she said yes. We had stipulated - in writing and also verbally - that they should not be let out at the same time because there would be an issue. Apparently, they felt entitled to ignore it. Unfortunately, the biggest shock was yet to come. We called on different days to check if the cats were being given the medicines on the right dates - specified by the vet - and were given conflicting stories by various employees. In the end, some of them had NOT BEEN GIVEN THE MEDICINES. We asked to talk to the main manager and even though she confirmed the problem, she acted nonchalantly. We were very disappointed and shocked. Even after going over the dates and everything with them and leaving everything written down, they let this happen. She did not try to justify, to explain, did not apologize or anything. She was cold and insensitive and did not give the issue the consideration it should have received. Thankfully, the medicine they messed up was not something on which the cats' lives depended on. But what if it was?  A day later the sub-manager gave us a call promising me that the cats had been medicated on the right dates (!!!!) and that all that had happened was a big misunderstanding. However, when confronted with what we had already been told by the main manager, she decided to admit to it. Basically, she was lying and got caught. Plus, she asked me not to talk to any of the employees whenever we called again (!!!). From that day onward, whenever we called, nobody else would answer but the main manager. We would ask about the cats and she was monosyllabic and cold, as if she was doing us a huge favor. When we went to pick them up we noticed that a favorite cat toy was missing. When asked, we were informed that it had become dirty, they had washed it, and it had disintegrated in the washing machine (which was BS, as you don't put a toy with a plastic rod in a washing machine. Plus, the other toy, as well as their blankets had not been washed. I wonder why). After some resistance, we were allowed to select a replacement. No apologies, no sign of nothing. But then, we consoled ourselves with the thought that the cats were at home and safe and that we would not have to deal with PetSmart Pet Hotel and their staff ever again. Or, at least, part of the staff. The part that LIES to you, DOESN'T LOOK AFTER YOUR PETS PROPERLY, SCREWS UP monumentally, and DOESN'T APOLOGIZE OR ADMIT TO THEIR MISTAKES. It would be great to get contacted by someone from their "Management Team" (see website) to discuss how is their "PetSmart's Ethics & Integrity Program" (website) being implemented. read more

This PetSmart location is nice. Employees have always been friendly. I took my dog for training and the trainer, Chloe, was so patient with all the dogs. She was flexible if I wasn't able to make a certain group training. I recommend signing up your pup for dog training. The pet hotel was "okay". Definitely preferred using Rover over PerSmart. Drop off was never quick and I had to wait to sign in - even though I had made arrangements and called in before. read more

Ok, so admittedly I don't care for Petsmart as much as I do for Petco, but I live so much closer to this store than PetCo. I went her yesterday to get my new/first dog's nail trimmed. I was afraid to do it myself and hurt her of cut into the quick (sp?). They were prompt, friendly, patient, and quite affordable. Also, one of their dog trainers, I think her name is Ana (from Puerto Rico I think) is just stellar and was so very helpful with me the first time I came in. This Petsmart's grooming salon is a pet owner's WORST NIGHTMARE. If I could give this place a negative star, I would. I took my little Yorkie in for grooming and they absolutely butchered him. I mean that literally!!!!!! After running errands that day, I came to pick him up. My phone ran out of battery while I was out and about and turns out I had a few missed calls from them. When I came to pick up my baby, they told me that the groomer had sliced his leg open and that he had received over 15 staples into his leg!!!!! An 8 lb Yorkie with 15 stitches in his leg!? That's practically enough to cover his body! Of course Petsmart covered all veterinary fees and the cost for his medicine, but I would hope so with the way they treated him!!!! The worst part was that when I came in, the lady who broke the news to me about my dog acted so nonchalant when in the end, we found out that SHE was the one who cut him open! As expected, she hid in the back when I came back to the groomers' area to ask questions. Her "excuse" was that he had a tangle in the hair on his leg and she was attempting to shave it off and he moved. WTH YOU'RE A GROOMER DEALING WITH DOZENS OF ANTSY SCARED DOGS, YOU SHOULD KNOW HOW TO DEAL WITH THIS! I was so pissed but I was so worried about my dog I didn't make as big of a fuss as I should have. My dog was already a bit skittish in new places and now he's completely scarred. I used to take my dog to the location on katy freeway that closed down a couple of years ago and my dog loved it. Since the location closed down my other closest one was this one on Eldridge and Westheimer. I took my dog there a couple of times and I started to notice that she wouldn't want to walk into the store anymore. She would shiver and look terrified when we walked into the grooming salon. I didn't think much of it at first but then I started noticing her mood after she gets home. She doesn't want to be touched, and she is a cuddle bear and loves playing, she doesn't want to go outside to play or pee but instead she just sits in one spot and looks depressed. She flinches for a couple of days when I try to play with her and will growl if I try to pick her up or move her around. When I picked up my dog I was observing the other groomers and one lady was yanking on another puppies fur around her snout. She was not gentle with the dog nor was she paying attention to what she was doing. They are very rough with the dogs and I'm surprised that no one else has complained about this. It is visible the moment you walk into the grooming salon and I am afraid to know what goes on from the moment I drop off my dog. This is the last time I ever bring my dog to this location. The groomer Lizzie, and the groomers I've had before, have never done what I have asked to be done for my dog. The ears are not evenly cut and the cut is actually a number shorted than what I have always asked for. The way they shave around her bottom always leaves her in pain and it's always extremely red. I have asked them every time not to shave her there but just trim it but my request was always ignored. I have wasted so much money on this place and always gave them a benefit of a doubt but never again. I can't believe anyone would hire people that could be so cruel to animals and ignore the owners requests. I am appalled that anyone would allow this to continue at a place where a dog should feel comfortable at and cared for instead of mistreated and left in pain. read more

Beyond horrible service! I waited at PetSmart for my dog 4.5 hrs for grooming! I wasn't told or offered express grooming! I never leave my pets at groomers, because I want to see the service provided and given! Then they go off charging me extra for brushing the hair when it's going to be shaved off! To top it off KIMBERLY the pet stylist is rude!!!!! Never Ever bringing my dog here! As a dog parent we deserve our pet children to be treated the way we treat them! This review is for the Grooming Department! I cannot even start to express the level of PISSED OFF I am right now. My wife dropped off our dog this afternoon for a shampoo and grooming, the same service he has had repeatedly the last couple of months. She told them explicitly that she wanted the same service that he had last month (I know, I was on the phone with her when she dropped him off and overheard the entire conversation). When we picked up our dog, he was nearly shaved down to the skin. It looked horrible, to make matters worse they charged us nearly $20 more for the service (NORMALLY $35.99, TODAY $55.00) AND charged us an additional $28 for a dental cleaning package (that he has never received before)... I was livid - nearly causing a scene in the store my wife pulled me to the side and said not to say anything. I didn't, not out of any sort of respect for the store (or even the other customers) but because she and I know both know that I will go off and make the issue worse. Out of years of being together, my wife knows to just let me cool off and then deal with these sort of situations. So here I am, letting everyone know to avoid at all cost this grooming service - they dont give a damn about what you ask for, and will do what they like and charge you what they like - no questions asked. I was going to leave before and after pictures on my dog, but I don't guess that is an option - I was hoping to show you what these people do to your beloved pets. I made a 3 day reservation over the phone, one month in advanced at the Petsmart hotel over here. My dog is already in the system since I used to board him at a Petsmart hotel back in California. I talked with Marsha (not sure if that's how it's spelled), but she was friendly and was able to pull up my dog's health records at Banfield hospital and get my reservations entered in. She also mentioned a Google coupon for 1st time customers over the phone which I used. The staff here are friendly. My dog Mickey looked happy and refreshed when I picked him up. read more

I ended up getting a beta fish for my son here and they had everything I needed (apparently betas are the least maintenance fish so it worked out perfectly). Took my poodle puppy for his first clip. I anticipated that it would be thought being it was his first time. When I arrived we talked about a puppy clip so he would not be overwhelmed but I told them I wanted his entire muzzle cut. They did not do it and then they cut the hair on the top of his nose too close. If they had gone any closer he would've been cut. Although they offered to trim his entire face I was against it because of how he already looked. Needless to say we will not be using Petsmart for grooming services.
