Took my 1 year old puppy here and they absolutely ruined the grooming experience for her I don't know what they did to her while I was gone but when i she has never been the same since. Dropped her off she was happy and excited when I came to get her 4 hours later when they called she was drooling from the mouth scared and being very very timid like something happen to her! Abusive nasty horrible humans work here! Beware!!! FYI it was a man that groomed her so be very careful! They don't give any care for your animal. When I got home she had immediate diarrhea and blood in her stool and had to bring her to the vet immediately they did not care one bit when I called and asked if anything happen to her cuz she was fine before and they did not care at all that my dog left completely scared and scared to death. My dog is in the ER on life support right now. It all started when.... My dog went in for routine shots @ PetSmart in august 2022. I received a letter in the mail 6 months later saying that the shots administered were not kept at the right temperature so the dog has been not protected by those shots and has been / is still at risk and needs to come in by a certain date to rectify the situation. I bring him in to get his shots and he comes out with a whooping cough and has been severely sick since. I tried to address the issue with personnel and they called me a liar and denied what had happened. Moreover, they overcharged me and were unapologetic throughout the entire process. He is on oxygen and an IV at pet urgent care right now and I just wrote a check for $5k to keep him alive overnight. Have read about other pets dying at PetSmart recently as well. DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG TO GET GROoMED HERE!!! So I came in May 17th for my dogs to be groomed. I came in late that morning and was told they could still take my dogs that morning by the manager Michelle. They told told me the groom takes 2-3 hours. I told them I was going out of town for 2pm. I called before 2pm and was told by the manager that my younger dog would not be ready til 3pm if I want her hair cut. This because she booked for the afternoon after telling me she could take both my dogs still that morning. I get there and they bring out my older dog and show me that her back toe nail could not be cut off all the way because the nail was curved. If this is the case they should have not attempted to cut the nail. Then because I've been sick I came in today to talk to the manager DJ, and he was annoyed with me wanting a refund for the bad serves because back in 2023 I received a refund at another location. Went to get my puppy groomed. Dropped her off and then got a call an hour later saying they could not groom her because she freaked out. I thought that was weird cause i groom her all the time but i went back and got her. They said they did everything else that i asked for but they couldn't cut her hair cause they said she was afraid of the buzzer. I was displeased with several aspects of my shopping experience at this store. Having perused the jolly ole website in advance I knew this was the one store in the entire city that had the item I wanted to pick up for a stray dog I had agreed to foster for a few days, in an attempt to fill the void in my life left behind by my own dog's death earlier this year, less than six months after my dad had also died. So I wasn't here because I thought it was going to be a fun time. I had to be here after work one night to get the one thing the internet told me about, and some other things since I was here already. My usual store, when my own dog was still alive, was the Shepherd loc. Prices there were usually reflective of what was on the internet without markup. Meanwhile here things were 2-3x the price of things on the internet, except for a small number of items. I had wanted to "have it all" in a Carrie "Destroyer of Worlds" Bradshaw moment where after a long day of work I only had to visit one store to get everything; but instead I had to visit multiple stores since I am not a fan of paying rapidly ballooning multiplier prices like a drunken sailor slinging gold doubloons, and syphilis, everywhere because hey, why not, when in Rome. The made-in-China (as #MAGA as you can get according to the reelect The Donald campaign) dog collars were 2x the price on petsmart's internet webpage, the leashes 3x. What to heck, buddy. For a cheap shitty nylon blend that needs to last a maximum of four days [aggressive scarf flip] I THINK NOT. Meanwhile around yonder, in the literal armpit of the store as far out of sight and out of mind as it could be, I found the one item (the last two in stock) I came to buy for my short term pooch. Of course not a single worker was on the floor to assist even trying to locate this, I had to just sashay around until we stumbled into each other. Shepherd has actual $0.99 toys near the register and you get what you pay for if your dog has any teeth. But these $2.99 ones cost two dollars more and were probably even worse quality than I get at the $0.99 range. But I really wanted that gat dang rocket and UFO so I was a """big""" spender that the sailors and soldiers beckon to from the darkened alleys during fleet week. The line at the ONE register open stretched well back from where a normal line would develop and stretched back into the back of the store. A second register finally opened after the long line had become embarrassing and some people had actually just dropped their baskets and left the store. I spent far more time in line than I ever wanted to. And I still had to visit another few stores to finish stocking up for my baby-for-the-weekend once the vet released him into my care to monitor him, and pet him, as he recovered from surgery. When you have the one on Shepherd there is really no good reason to visit this one. You wait in line forever and pay 2-3x the price of the things they are at Shepherd or on the internet if you can wait for the shipping to take place. Meanwhile if you use chewy or amazon you pay considerably less, get free shipping, and don't need to get off of your gin soaked bean-bag chair until you need to answer the door and the mailman tips you for the pleasure. read more

Took my dog in for a bath, trim and nail grind. He came home bathed, but his hair hadn't been trimmed at all, he still had matting behind his ears and his nails had been trimmed but not ground. I basically paid $70 for them to wash the dog. It's bananas to me that they would send a dog home without doing any basic grooming and feel ok about it. Don't take your dog here. I had such a horrible experience with a rude checkout person. I tried to return a bag of food that gave my dog diarrhea and was 2/3 full. The Petsmart employee just eyeballed it and after grilling me why I'm returning it and why I didn't return it sooner, decided to offer half the amount for a refund. I had to drag the bag to Banfield to have it weighed to prove that it had more than half the amount in the bag. It's just sad that Petsmart is going to lose my business because of a rude employee ‍. inhumane saw a dead parakeet there, don't know how it died but its companion kept trying to wake it up not knowing it had since passed. No one paid any mind to the dead bird, the whole time I was there (20 mins) no one came to take the bird out no nothing, I have my suspicions that the same reason it hadn't been taken out of its enclosure yet are the same reasons why it died. The cockatiel in the enclosure next to it looked lethargic and stressed, most likely from being newly moved, im not very familiar with petsmart regulations on moving birds but I'm pretty sure that the bird was not moved correctly. Please try your best to avoid this petsmart so they either learn from their mistakes, or no other birds have to go through this, and potentially traumatize a small child. read more

A lady with short black hair arguing with me about when I got my dogs hair cut. "When is the last time she got cut and be honest" ma'am nobody has to lie to you. I usually go to the location on Kirby but they were booked so I booked here. My dog doesn't know anyone here so she was moving around as they were examining her. The lady's response was "she's wild" while smirking at her co worker. Mind you, my dog wasn't not barking, crying, biting at them or making any noises she was just nervous. They didn't take the time to make her feel comfortable their main concern was to question me about the last time she got groomed. The manager should definitely look into getting people that can at least greet the customers and dogs the correct way. I would not suggest bringing your dog here for grooming. read more

I dropped my pet girl on September 10th 2022 to be groomed at the Westheimer and Dunvale location. Upon picking her up and getting her home I had to rush her to the Veterinary Hospital because she began gasping and screeching and vomiting. Upon arrival I was told that my Dolce was in critical condition and needed to be put on oxygen to breathe and had a high temperature of 106.9 and normal was 102. She died within a couple of hours after being groomed and the written medical report listed heat exhaustion /stress. My pet girl had just got her annual checkup August 20th with no problems and had no history of illness. She was healthy and well before I dropped her to be groomed and within a few hours she was dead. read more

The staff in grooming is so rude I visited the first time and while I was reading their notes on the wall of how the staff loves animals the front staff changed their attitude to seem friendly. From the beginning when I called I sensed some aggression and rudeness. Gave them a second chance when I called to make an appointment they were okay. Service is just horrible and very short and rude honestly. I overheard the lady in the front taking a call and she was pretty aggressive with the customer. It does not see like they would even take good care of my dog I would not trust them again with any of my pets! Wouldn't recommend and not coming back for grooming atleast. I happened to mention once that she has had a few random seizures in her life, then they began charging me a few for an "express" to groom her quickly, despite me telling them this is not a regular thing and she's not epileptic (per my VET'S instruction!). Fine, I paid their money grab fees. Today, I came in and when describing the cut I wanted (same as always!), I asked them to clean up her rear end area because she's had a few seizures lately, peed on herself and I would like to be able to easily clean her at home. SUDDENLY, the groomer MUST know when her last one was. They have NEVER asked me this despite this not being a new issue. I say a week ago, "oh no we can't do that for her safety". I'm sorry? You've made me pay a fee in the past and not given a damn about her "safety" before this. What is the magical threshold? 2 weeks? A month? I can't possibly plan for seizures. Had this been communicated to me the first time I brought her in, this would not be an issue, but suddenly after four years of grooming it's a problem? I also made a joke (prior to this conversation) how yesterday was "Lab retreiver day" per their sign. The groomer said that "In their system she is not a lab so it wouldn't have worked for you anyways" to which i responded that needed to be changed, and she told me "because labs don't have long hair". Interesting, that she should think I don't know my own dog's breed. This experience is the last straw for me. The employees are continually rude. Petsmart continues to operate in its own reality. I have (had now) an autoship, but they held up the entire order because one item was out of stock. They informed me I could order my other items at regular prices, if i needed them now. Um, no. How about you do what you do Jane and the other own can come later? I go to the store to get some of the items, only to find they are priced higher than the website, before the autoship discount. I bring this up at the register where the guy tells me prices are always higher in any store than online. Um, no. I tell him that's not accurate and he tells me he doesn't set the prices. I get that, but I'm asking for the in-store prices to match the website and he keeps challenging me. I tell him to call the manager since it's now a principle issue. He tells me he is the manager and I tell him to get me the district manager's contact information. He changes his tune and tells me they will always match the online price. Then why did you just challenge me on several fronts? Why not just say yes, I know, I'll adjust it and we can all move on? The bigger issue is how many people go into Petsmart retail stores, thinking they are getting the best price when they aren't? I brought my puppy here for a wash and trim. At check in, the woman who took my dog was very rude and condescending. She kept questioning what my dog was mixed with, I said according to his paperwork he is a pure poodle, no mix to my knowledge. She insisted that my dog was mixed with something because of the type of hair he had. She said he looked like a mini goldendoodle. I said no... just an apricot poodle. She repeated that he wasn't a purebred poodle. Then she says she is going to change his information in the system because she doesn't think he is a toy poodle. Mind you my dog is only 13 weeks and 5 pounds... she says he is too big to be a toy poodle. 5 fucking pounds! I said I don't need you to change anything because I know what type of dog I have, you don't get to decide what breed you want him to be. She keeps repeating he isn't a toy and that she's changing him to a mini but says the price isn't going to change because he's still a puppy anyways. Okay so if the price isn't changing then what the fuck is the point in you arguing with me for 5 minutes over what type of dog I have?! The dog is 5 pounds! Mini poodles are between 14-20 pounds. Toys are between 5-10 full grown. At this point in his life... he is toy sized. EVEN IF HE DID end up growing into a mini poodle weight... what does it fucking matter at this point in time. It's like she just wanted to argue and go back and forth with me to prove a point. She wanted to be right so bad. Worst experience ever and was completely unnecessary. I already made the damn appointment so I let her take him back but I promise you I won't be returning to this fucking location if she is at the front to bother me again. We've been to Petsmart grooming here and on Shepherd many times and it always falls short of expectations. It's convenient and I'm severely allergic to my dog, so while I can handle regular brushing, bathing him is not my idea of a good time. Today was the last straw. I called to make an appointment for my dog to be groomed (bath + furminator). I mentioned that my dog was extra furry and needed additional brushing time on top of the extra furminator treatment I booked, and that I was happy to pay for whatever was needed to not have hair coming off of him when I picked him up. The woman who took my call assured me they would get it done. I said in the past, I've had to have them brush him more at pickup because hair was still coming out in clumps. They said it wouldn't be a problem. I reviewed all of this when I dropped off my dog. I picked him up 3.5 hours later and it was like they hadn't even brushed him. The groomer, who was very nice, explained that he brushed him for extra time and didn't charge me for it. I reiterated once again that I was happy to pay for however long it took to brush out the excess hair. They brought in a manager, who told me I needed to bring him in more often (fair, yes, but surely we could get him to a point where he wasn't basically dripping hair?) and that no amount of brushing was going to stop this. So I brought him home and spent ten minutes with my Furminator tool. And here's the result (and those piles are dense). I don't understand why they didn't just...brush him after drying him. This took virtually no time. I was happy to pay a premium and leave a substantial tip to save myself the trouble, but not anymore. read more

I recently got my dog an appointment at grooming and Lauren the bather was so nice and treated my dog with love you can tell she really loves animals. I've only had great experiences in this store in the year that I've been patronizing it. Staff is super friendly and always so nice and helpful. I have two cats and I go once or twice a month. I usually walk by the kitties in the back. I did that today and noticed their litter boxes were so full.
