Regularly shop here for all of the many pets at our home (reptile, fish, dogs, cats) and 95% of the time find exactly what I need. Parking is always easy, associates are super friendly & helpful, price is good, and selection is awesome. The layout of the store also makes it pretty easy to find what you need - and occasionally things you don't need but buy anyway (seasonal toys!). They have a lot of adoption events here, and they do a lot for the rescues in the area - bonus to supporting them. There's a cat rescue inside and various dog rescues on weekend. I haven't used the vet, but have used the groomer a few years ago for a quick bath and nail trim. They did a good job. Really love the order ahead and pick up in store option. There's never a long wait, and the coupons online are awesome. It helps that I can easily add things to my online cart while I'm at home, then drive over and pick up them up later that same day. read more

It took longer than needed to get a kitten. The way they sell these kittens arent good. When i was playing with the kitten there was fleas.

This store has most everything you need for your pets. I shop here for my cats. There's lots of selections to choose from. Prices vary to suit what you can afford The place is usually clean and well stocked Check out is easy when ever there is a line they immediately open a new register which I appreciate. They told me my bearded dragon didn't need his UVA light on all the time and said it was just for nighttime viewing and didn't tell me that he needed calcium is in his diet and he started having muscle spasms and only then did i do extra research and learned the proper care. They also sold me a horrible dry mix for him and are just overall not educated or in any position to be giving information on pets. read more

This review update and extra star is for the incredible Kora! I wanted to get my little winter mops (aka Vienna and Oscar) cleaned up before they stayed at a friend's house for the weekend. I am a last minute kind of gal when it comes to my pups so when I called on Thursday, Kora said that while they didn't have an opening that day, they did Friday around 3pm. I debated bringing them because of my full schedule that Friday, but she suggested dropping them off early which really worked for my schedule. Next day, I dropped them around 10am, and kept an eye on my phone. Kora called me to chat about how to cut their hair and when she said she could to inform me when the pups were done. Again, because of my busy schedule, I knew I wouldn't be able to pick them up until later. Kora made sure that their paperwork was in order so I could scoop them after the groomer closed but when the store was still open ( until 9pm). The folks who were there when I got there were very sweet and I'm so sorry to the girl that Oscar peed on... I was really a crazy person when I picked them up and they were all very accommodating. Kora did an excellent job on their summer cuts and put bows in Vienna's hair which lasted most the weekend. Thank you so much for your professionalism and taking care of my pups! read more

I took my Papillon, Cayden to the groomers today! Gina was his groomer. She did a wonderful job! It was my first time at this PetSmart. I was nervous about leaving my baby with a stranger...but Gina made me feel comfortable. I have never taken my baby to a groomer before because I usually do it myself. He looks soo handsome. She recommended the add on package of teeth brushing and whitening for coat. It took about 30 minutes or so. I come back to pick him up and he's just beautiful and glowing. We did the basic sanitary trimming. It was easy to set up an appointment. I actually called this morning and they fit him in. There's also the option to schedule online but I was unable to log in. Make sure you check in and use the Groomers coupon! The store is clean...does not have the "pets" smell like other places. They also had dog and cat food on discount...score! read more

It's an awesome overpriced pet store. They have everything you need for your furry/feathery friends, natch. What is more awesome is the fact that they have the most awesome cat-care team. They foster, nurture and rescue cats from shelters. Give them a place to live with dignity. Find homes for them as they are able. Today they shared the story of a gorgeous 12 yo Himalayan. The sweet baby was declawed and lived with her person for her entire gentle life. When her person passed away she was left without a home. She's getting thinner. She's just so sad. These ladies care for her daily and are working hard to find a home for her. Such good people. So grateful for their commitment. read more

I wish I could give this place 0 stars. My 6 month old lab was left in a kennel with the Banfield vet for 7 hours. Had I not called to check his status, it would have been longer. When I called I was told they forgot to call me. When I spoke with the vet she said my husband told them he would pick up our dog after work, which was a lie. My husband works over an hour away, I've always done pick ups after his services were finished. I also was on the phone with my husband when he did the drop and heard him say, " Call us once our pup is finished". Needless to say, we will never visit this establishment again and a formal complaint has been filed with corporate. Do yourself a favor and avoid this location and try another. read more

Stopped here on my way home from class, and boy! Was this a big change from the Petco near my home. The shelves were FULL of items in all price ranges to treat the horrid fleas Lola has picked up from being outside. The Petco location on Tchoupitoulas looks like it's run by a former Soviet block country; empty shelves and long, slow lines of forlorn customers. I found crunchy-granola stuff to treat her fleas that didn't kill my pocketbook, and all varieties of her canned food, which is also less expensive here. Apologies to the staff - the girls kept smiling even when I berated them for not giving me the proper discount. And yes, the customer can be wrong. read more

PetSmart is, sadly, the only place I can find AvoDerm cat food. I usually order it online, because it's significantly cheaper than even sale prices at PetSmart, but sometimes I forget to order it until it's too late. Then I'm forced to run to PetSmart and spend an absurd amount of money on Avocado-filled indoor weight control food for my obese and dandruffy Buddha cat. The cashiers are never quite as friendly as the ones at the local pet stores. The entire store always smells funny too. Yeah, I know, they have birds, fish, and rodents, so I should probably expect this, but it's a really strong smell. I really just don't like going to PetSmart... period. However, if it saves me from listening to a whiny cat while waiting on a large cat food bag shipment from Amazon or Wag.com, I guess it's acceptable. Three stars for at least carrying AvoDerm, and for sometimes making the price tag slightly more bearable with sales. I can't do 4 or 5 because of the prices, the relatively unfriendly staff, and the smell that I have to endure when I visit this place. read more

Typical big box Pet and Pet Supply store with plenty of parking. Store is always clean, which must be a challenge as there are always people walking their dogs in the store. The store has an easy layout to find what you need and the shelves are always stocked. Staff is helpful. I have a Monk Parrot (Quaker) that's picky about what he eats. They have a package of bird seed that he likes. It's also a great place to restock on new koi and goldfish for my pond after the local wildlife feasts. About once a year, I have to buy a new load of fish. read more

The lady I dealt with argued with me about the breed of my dog. I have NKC papers registering my dog and she told me that my dogs breed doesn't get that big so he was not that breed. I guess I should be impressed that Pet smart employees are now certified to identify a dogs breed by looking at there size. Would not be important other than they charged me more for another breed. $45 to be exact, then charged me an ambiguous "handling fee" of $7. She told me he was very well behaved so I don't understand the extra charge. Felt like she was sticking it to me for saying my dog was another breed. It wasn't that she argued, it was the way she treated me like I was some sort of schemer trying to pull one over. Now on the side of the actual shave and service my dog received, it was very good. Probably his best haircut, so that's why they didn't get a one star. I'll give credit where credit is due. Customer service is a 0 actual service is a 5. read more

The groomer is pretty much the worse I've ever been to. They split my dog's nail in half and she was to be on antibiotic for a week and limping because of their inexperienced grooming staff. Also, for some reason, they took her to the back instead of trimming her nails on the table in front of everyone. I really don't trust these people with my dog anymore and I'm pretty much done going to their groomer. read more

Very disappointed customer!! I called to schedule grooming services and was given an appointment time. About an hour before the appointment "Amanda" calls to tell me she does not feel comfortable grooming MoJo and will I accept another time for tomorrow. My first response is why was I not informed when I picked him up from his last services that she had a problem with him. Now mind you, she no longer feels comfortable because he moans or wiggle a little. He never bit her or physically attack her. MoJo has been getting services here for almost two years and at a pet store in Mississippi and I have never received complaints. I tell her fine if you don't feel comfortable schedule me for 12:00p the next day. She proceeds to schedule MoJo for 8:00a. They call and inform me this morning about his 8:00 appt I immediately tell them it was rescheduled for 12:00p. Without any accommodation they tell me we can't service him after 10:00a. I feel, they should make allowances since they rescheduled incorrectly to begin with. Will have to find another grooming location in New Orleans when I'm here. Dear PetSmart store located in the Elmwood Shopping Center on Clearview Pkwy. I have had an aquarium ever since I was a child, and still have one to this day at the age of 53. We just recently moved to Metairie, and your store was closer, so that is the one I CHOSE to do business with. I know you get your fish shipped in on Thursdays, so that is the day that I like to buy my fish, due to the better selection at that time. While I was in your store, a woman (not a lady) came out of the back and asked if I need help. I told her yes maam, and proceeded to tell her which fish I would like to have. I was told that those fish had just arrived today, and were under stress, so she would not be able to sell them to me until Saturday at the earliest. I was appalled by her lack-a-dasical attitude, and her unwillingness to help out a customer who has shopped at PetSmart for years. I left your store without a purchase, and went directly to the location on Veterans Memorial Blvd. At this location, I encountered a young lady who was very helpful, and also mentioned that the fish had just recently arrived, and may be stressed. She asked me how long I have had fish, and how big my aquarium was. After talking with her for a couple of minutes, I picked out the fish that I wanted, and proceeded to the counter to check-out. I purchased 35 fish from this location, and still to this day (over 6 months later) still have all 35 fish living, and thriving in my aquarium. Thank You very much Elmwood Shopping Center location for such horrible service, with an attitude, because I have discovered another location, with a much friendly staff, and actually easier to get in & out of drive wise. I shop at the Elmwood Shopping Center quit frequently, as I like the Home Depot, and other various restaurants within the plaza. However, I will stop in at Anna's Linens, right next door, but I will never cross the threshold of your store again. read more

Mrs. Wanda the trainer is so sweet and really cares about all of the animals that walk in and out of that store. Had been taking my yorkie here for 2 years to see Morgan, but when she left the place seemed to just go down hill. They messed up Max's records and could not find his rabies certificate. The woman behind the counter was told there were two records, but still questioned us like we were trying to pull something over on them. When I asked her to just give me back my dog and let us leave, she kept looking for the records. They were understaffed and seemed lost. I do not trust them with my baby. Banfield let me bring my dog in the same day. She has been digging & bitting her butt for days. I did everything I could think of to help her. I seen online it maybe her anal glands sure enough thats what it was. She hasn't done it once since getting home. She's a happy baby, thank God! I am so happy I took her. There are a lot of good sales inside the store. I got this crawling through tube reg $19.99 for only $4.99. Everyone was very helpful too. read more

I had grooming appointments scheduled for my 2 dogs today for 2 PM. I just got a phone call this morning from an employee in the grooming department who was scheduled to groom one of my dogs. She called to tell me that there was no way she could groom my dog at 2 PM because my dog was the only dog she had scheduled for that time, and she was scheduled to leave at 4 PM. She said that 2 hours was not enough time for her to groom my 4 pound dog, even though my dog was the only dog she had scheduled at that time. When I explained to her that I had another dog scheduled for that time as well, she tried to see if that other groomer could take both of my dogs at that time. She then explained that the other groomer had no time to groom my dog as well. She told me to call back to schedule an appointment "when I was ready." I was ready to schedule an appointment today, which is why I had an appointment scheduled for today. It is ridiculous that she needed 2 hours to herself at the end of her shift and that she could not possibly use that time to groom a dog. Perhaps your store should look into why you are paying someone for 2 hours when they are telling clients to not come in during those hours. I will NOT be returning to your store for grooming. read more

This is your typical PetSmart, offering up a variety of pet supplies and services. Being a big-box store located in a shopping center, there's plenty of parking. The store itself is very bright and clean on the inside. Navigating around the store, even with a pup, is pretty easy since there's clear signage and ample space to maneuver around. Since I no longer participate in the Banfield vet clinic services, I simply come here to pick up poop bags and get Milo a PAWdicure every few weeks. The staff in the Grooming Salon seem really nice. However, there were a few things I noted during our last visit that made me raise a brow in questioning.... (1) Instead of putting my dog ontop of the grooming table with his lead in the restraint apparatus (as he's used to), they kept him on the floor to work on his nails. This caused them to have to stoop down on the floor and provided him with the opportunity to lay down in submission/wiggle around a bit, making their job harder. Maybe since he's a bigger dog (65lbs), she didn't think he could handle the grooming station well? (2) While the lady whispered sweet, calming words to my dog, and laughed when he went limp, there were a number of groomers just standing around watching. No offers for assistance, which clearly would've helped make my groomer and dog's lives easier. In fact, no one moved a muscle. Instead, another groomer came from outside of the salon, saw what was going on, and immediately went to assist. Apparently some staffers missed the whole "working as a team" part of their training. read more

Dear grooming department at the Elmwood Petsmart on Clearview.... I would actually like to thank you. Months ago, I'd taken my 5 year old dog to your location to get a bath & a haircut. When I picked her up, the groomer gave me a list of vets to groom her because she's "nervous". I thought nothing of it. This morning, I called to set up another appointment, I was placed on hold for a few minutes. Then the young man on the other end of the phone call proceeded to tell me that I could not bring Nola back to be groomed because she was "nervous". I called to different places & finally set a same-day appointment at Petco on Veterans Blvd near lakeside mall. Not only did they bathe her, but they gave her a great haircut! SHE LOOKS SO ADORABLE! Everyone was extremely helpful, in the grooming department & in the store. In addition to spending almost $70 on grooming, I purchased a new collar, new tags, & 2 new toys. Elmwood Petsmart, it is always more convenient for me to visit your location because I live in midcity, but don't worry, I will be going out of my way to visit Petco because of the value you have for long term returning clients. When I picked up Nola this evening, I felt appreciated & even more important to me, they were patient with my baby. Yes, I noticed a difference in her behavior from the two different experiences. She was no where near as jittery tonight as she was when she visited your location. Thank you for reminding me what great service is by refusing it to me. This Petsmart on Clearview Parkway in Harahan or Elmwood area sucks! I tried to use a coupon on my iPhone email to buy dog food, and the manager Randy acted annoyed and repeated to me several times saying that he will honor my coupon from my email this time, but the next time I would need to print out the email on paper. That's fine for me to print it out, although it sucks for a manager to act all annoyed and repeating himself. I don't buy dog food from Petsmart anymore, because it seems like the managers at Petsmart get annoyed or throw a fit on coupons. I think the blond hair manager Amanda from the Petsmart in Metairie was a real bitch when I printed a coupon that was emailed to me, and she started accusing me in an angry tone of bringing in a fraudulent coupon. I don't usually have problems using coupons at Walmart, and the managers at Petsmart seems stingy when I try to use a coupon. I will never shop from Petsmart again. read more
