I go here to buy necessary pellets for my parrots or used to. I bought a little baby cockatiel on 05-11-2025 and he was sick, I took him to the vet multiple times to improve his condition and quality of life but he died to advanced liver disease/illness. Petsmart is notorious for poor animal care and they should never be allowed to sell animals. We tried giving him his best chance and he died peacefully in my hands today after multiple types of treatment and hand feeding. The staff at this location have always been kind but this company needs to stop selling animals, they don't care about the condition or environment they are in as long as they can profit off of them. For one they could stop stocking the bigger bags of cat food which are more expensive on top of the cheaper price tags which are meant for the smaller bags of science diet cat food. That's called deceptive marketing/advertising and petsmart does it all the time. Then when you do catch them doing it they won't honor the cheaper price or they deny it or both. They say it's not meant for that size bag of cat food. Really? You put the product on top of the cheaper price tag meant for the 3 lb bag with the 7 lb bag. $27.90 vs $39 plus tax is a big difference for most people and especially for someone retired military and on social security. With petsmart having over $3 billion dollars in profits in 2024 it's not like they're going bankrupt. How much of their profits come from deceptive advertising like from the crossroads store? I thought I was getting a decent deal for once until I got to the register and it rang up $15 higher than what the sticker showed on the shelf. Shop somewhere else you say? I would love to if other stores had science diet food for pets. Walmart doesn't and if my fur babies would eat something else cheaper then I would get it. Solution: how about you stop putting the more expensive products on top of the cheaper price tags and NOT honoring the cheaper price like other stores do. Went to this store looking for a cat with our adult-daughter and the young lady was not nice, rolling her eyes, and huffing when we asked to hold one of the kittens. We were told NO that is "not allowed and I don't know". She didn't want to be bothered! We all have a bad day. However, she was being divergent to be mean! Our hearts go out to these animals (Hancock and Harrison County Shelter Rescue animals) as nobody will adopt an animal if they can't get to know it first. We have adopted from both of these organizations with no issues and one from this store. Our daughter "this is a horrible experience" with this store! She asked that we look at another store or shelter... We promptly left and went to the Pet Smart in North Biloxi (D'iberville) and the experience was wonderful, inviting, friendly, and our daughter ended up adopting two wonderful little short-hair tabby brothers (white and orange) from a rescue in Ocean Springs. They are awesome! The point is SHAME ON YOU GULFPORT PET SMART! If your associates treat people like that YOU ARE WRONG! read more

I took my golden doodle to get bathed. My baby had beautiful hair. When I went back they shaved it all off. They said he had a few knots but to shaved him was horrible. He looks sick. Please go somewhere else. These people are not knowledgeable at all. read more

This review is directed to the managers of PetSmart in GULFPORT at Crossroads center. I took my dog in today 2/28/24 for a grooming appointment at 1030 and picked her up at 4 pm. My complaint is not at the groomer who did a nice job with my doxie Stella. I got kicked back because my groomer had an express service on another dog. My appointment said 3 to 4 hours NOT 5 1/2 hours. Managers get real, leaving pets this long hurts the poor dog who doesn't drink water or go to the bathroom in their kennel Because there nervou. When I got home my dog was constipated because she held it too long. This is the second time this has happened within the last year which the first appointment took 7 hours because the original groomer left without finishing Stella up. You would have thought I had learned my lesson but no I went back because it's hard to find groomers in Gulfport Ms that do a good job. This express service isn't fair to us who make an appointment in good faith and expect our dogs done within 4 hours As stated in the notice of our grooming appointment. read more

I am immuno compromised as well as someone I live with. There is no online option for curbside pick up for frozen mice. I called the store and explained my situation. I was told to come into the store to buy mice. During this quarantine there should be curbside pick up for ALL pet food. It's sad that you can have pet toys brought to your car but not all pet food. Your store said it would be there to provide for our pets during this time. I'm not happy with your lack of care during this time. read more

Tried to have my dog groomed but Danielle refused because he had matting on his ears and she would have to cut it short. I said that was ok. Then she stated she didn't feel "comfortable". Another employee stated they would be able to do it and Danielle still said no. I have had my dog groomed multiple times and this has never been a problem. Multiple bad experiences with the groomers. My husband and I always request that our Golden Retriever be bathed and trimmed BUT NOT SHAVED (it makes a golden susceptible to sunburn and their undercoat helps them regulate their temperature), and yet we twice have returned to pick up our dog to find that she has been shaved. They use the excuse, "well, she had a bunch of matted areas." If they had called to ask what to do about the matted areas, we would have told them to cut them out but not to shave the entire coat. They don't listen to the instructions given to them by the owner; and, in this case, it puts the dog at risk. Shouldn't have given them the second chance to groom our dog - they will not get another! read more

No customer service - grooming department cancels appointments at the last minute then will hang up on you on the phone - I was always advised against going to PetSmart Salon- I know now why that is. Retail part very nice and helpful employees- but not Salon. read more

I have taken my dog to get his nails trimmed here since adopting him. I have seen her with other dogs and they are yelping and crying. She did my dogs' nails before I knew it was her doing it. Each time we've been, they do his nails just in the front, yet she is the only one who took him to the back. I could hear him crying so I asked her when she came out what happened and she said he was just scared. We have brought him there before to get his nails done and he had never cried. Today I took him (to see someone else) to get his haircut and this same lady was in the back with a dog and it was yelping as she was doing the dogs' nails. I think after this appointment I am done taking my dog there. read more

She is consistent with her grooming and my doggies are always happy! I would not recommend anyone else. She puts a personal touch on everything. We are moving and would love to take Cathy R. with us. I work in pet retail in the Charleston area and that being said I enjoy stopping by the other Petsmart stores everywhere I go. I walk into the store to see if I have been greeted, if anybody asks if I need assistance with my purchase, and to see how tidy the store is. Upon my visit to this store I was not greeted, walked past the same employees multiple times and was not asked if I needed assistance or even asked how I was doing. The store was not tidy at all, I found bags of dog food that was taped back up to sell damaged, a box cutter with the blade out, and beef jerky open sitting on a U boat. This store definitely needs work. read more

The first time I went to petsmart to get my dogs nails done was bad because first he was scared and second they did not even do all of his nails. The workers there are rude as well. I went there again today and thought that this time may be different but it wasn't. The lady was giving me a major attitude about him not being in the system and then when she went to take him back there she claimed he snapped at her when he clearly did not because his dad and I were standing right there. I've spent close to $1000 at PetsMart in the last twelve months and I won't ever buy anything from this location again. I came in with my disabled mother to buy collars for three chihuahuas. We found two collars on the clearance rack but one didn't have a price tag. I saw an employee walking and I said "Excuse me," but she looked right at me and kept walking. Finally a male employee offered to help me and he said "I'll sell it for $6.47" He didn't check a computer or any other resource other than himself and picked that number out of thin air. The other collar I had in my hand which was the same size and fit the same dog with us was marked $3.00. I asked if it could be sold at the same price to which he smarted off and said that he was giving me a good deal. It was then clear this was about him controlling the situation. I asked if it was better to sell it or sit on the shelf and he snapped at me and said if I want that collar I will pay $6.47. I put down the $50 worth of toys, collars, and clothes I had in my hand because I refuse for his sales day to be boosted by my profit. I will not support this petsmart any more and I don't mind driving elsewhere. If he valued me as a returning customer he would have had a different tone and approach but it seems he viewed me as a one time customer and didn't care if I came back. Good vets and friendly staff. Our cat is a tiny bit grouchy. Okay, a lot grouchy, but she's cute, so we let her stay in our home. You know the story...it's everybody's cat story. But even she does well with the Veterinarians here at Pet Smart. They are very gentle with her, and try not to stress her out. Before we take her there, we smear "pet zen" on her paws, and she licks it off, and yes, you can buy "pet zen" and this pet smart. It relaxes her, or it seems too. I guess some people have had a bad experience here, but for our Shaka Khan (get it? The 80's?) we've only see positive feedback. read more

The work itself (grooming) isn't bad, but the small cages/kennels the dogs are kept in may be traumatizing to some dogs.

Unfortunately did not have a great experience at this particular Petsmart. Right when I walked in there was a smell that hit you that was not pleasant, now I understand this is a store that allows pets and they groom pets there but this is the first Petsmart I've ever been to where I couldn't take the smell. It lingered around the aisles as well. Also the lighting was dim, it was almost like they had a bunch of light bulbs out. The cashier was very friendly and was able to help me exchange my items quickly (which is a good thing because I don't know if I would have been able to shop very long.) This store is supposed to be bigger then the D'Iberville location but it didn't seem that way to me, however I didn't walk the entire store. They do have a pet hospital at this location which is not at the D'Iberville location, so that is nice for you to be able to get your animal treated. Overall it was just a mediocre store. read more

I bought a very expensive pet grooming tool from here three months ago. The product malfunctioned and the plastic piece broke off and the thing fell apart. There was no damage or misuse of this product on any way. I came back to exchange it. The manager told me sorry it's been more than 60 days we can't help you. I will never shop here again since they do not stand behind the things they sell. read more
