I went in for worm medication and the store was being restocked it was right before Close and Valarie the store manager helped me find the right warming medication and how much to give because it requires some math. Turns out my dog did not have worms at all, he had just gotten into some chicken feed and the grain looked like worms and had I spent a little bit more time investigating the item instead of googling I would have saved myself $40 but I do want to recommend the store and how nice everyone was so thank you too Valarie and her staff, it was a great experience and everyone there deserves a raise! read more

I love this store. The selection of cat food is the best I've seen. PETCO La Cumbre looks like an earthquake hit it. Employees nice but it's dirty and disorganized. Hours ridiculously short. And they are out of EVERYTHING. I found my Royal Canin Urinary dry food (no Rx required) and every single other brand Taco has ever liked. Also it's cheaper than Petco, the biggest rip-off unless you join their club. The charcoal gray carpet scratch post was a little over half what the uglier version cost at Petco. You have to assemble but no big thing. And easy parking. read more

I use to love Petsmart old groomers but recently they hired a new one I think her name is Stacey. TAKE YOUR DOG SOMEWHERE ELSE! Before this petsmart finally hired a new groomer I was driving to Milpas and I loved it there. My dog doesn't like haircuts but she's a shitzu so she needs them. She definitely gives a hard time but never will bark or bite at you only thing is she will take her away away that's all. At the SB petsmart she would be fully groomed every nicely cut. Meanwhile when I started taking her to the Goleta one I informed Stacey my dog is nervous but she's not aggressive. She took my dog in and when I picked her up after Stacey informs me that my dog is too difficult for her to groom her legs and paws. I paid for nail service and I did not receive it but Stacey still made me pay for all services. Last month I took my dog to get groomed I have a 4 month old so I cant really bath her like before. Her allergies act up during this time so I let Stacey know but she viewed it all as flea bites when really my dog gets so itchy she bites herself which only makes her worse. I've been dealing with this since she was a puppy. Stacey clearly didn't want to take her in but the manager said to give her an oat bath and flea medicine. My dog got taken in and 2hrs later Stacey calls me saying she doesn't feel comfortable proceeding. When I went to pick her up my dog wasn't at Petsmart anymore instead they took her to the vet without even asking me or informing me at all. I was really upset since 1. I have taken her to the vet for this specific reason and the only thing I could do was have her wear a cone and allow them to heal on their own since it was my own dog making her skin bleed. 2. My dog has anxiety which I told Stacey as well in the pre check in. The manager told me I wouldn't have to pay anything that my service was covered by them. Stacey kept insisting I make an appointment with her in advance so in 2 weeks she can cut her hair but at this time I'm tired of paying for service that she does not meet. Later that day I receive a voicemail from Stacey saying she needs my address for billing records which idk why she needs that since I did not need to pay, petsmart paid my bill. Definitely take your dog somewhere else otherwise you will get mediocre service just because the groomer doesn't want to put up with difficulties. Santa Barbara petsmart always left my dog looking amazing and never chopped off take your dog here and they will be left with an uneven haircut. If you buy anything here sold as "new," CHECK TO MAKE SURE IT IS ACTUALLY NEW *AND* HAS ALL OF ITS PARTS. Manager lost me as a customer today. After purchasing an item, I discovered it was previously used: it was full of dog fur and missing a part. Unfortunately, no other items (of that size) were in stock. I checked another box (of a different size) on the shelf out of curiosity and found the same thing. It was only after checking a (seemingly untouched) third box that I discovered that the part was missing from the first two boxes; store staff were unaware anything was missing until I discovered what was supposed to be included. Manager offered the standard 30% discount for an item in this condition (used, covered in fur, and missing part). If it had been sitting on the shelf that way - and I didn't have to discover the issue myself *after purchasing it* - I would have been happy with the standard discount. But given the situation, I asked for a 50% discount (a difference of literally $10) to say "we're sorry for the inconvenience," but the Manager wouldn't budge. Why she thinks that the standard discount, given to anyone, is appropriate is beyond me. This PetSmart location will be the last place I go to for our pet products. read more

Incredibly pleasantly surprised! I just had the best experience with their groomer. A little background, I have had dogs all my life and dogs that need grooming. I am fairly new to the area (2-1/2yrs) and have tried a couple of different groomers. I am not one to write a negative reviews so I have not but I have left both of those groomers for specific reasons - anyhow, I went to Petsmart on the recommendation of a neighbor. So - the good stuff - Stacey, the groomer was very dog intuitive. My dog is extremely shy so just going along with the flow is not his nature, I understand that but the wonderful thing is that Stacey understood that as well. She was knowledgeable and communicative in her approach and set proper expectations. Long story short - I have found my forever groomer. I would have never expected such quality at a chain store but am so appreciative that they clearly have standards when hiring especially for such a niche job. Thank you Petsmart, thank you Stacey. This is the 3rd time I have tried to get a groom for my husky, this most recent time the Groomers were afraid to bathe him due to thinking they would bite them.... a muzzle would have sufficed but they refused, he has never bitten anyone ever as my niece and nephews stick their fingers in his mouth regularly. I've given this business several years to iron out its kinks; the problem like most chain stores is that it hires people with little to no experience... Just a bunch of worker bees. It continues to show. It's fine to have cashiers just check you out, but knowledge about what's best for my animal simply can't be found here. I have experience in shopping for four different dogs here, and find that I only have done it out of the convenience of its location. Grooming here was an absolute disaster. My 21 year old son was angry with me as if it were my fault for what they did to his dog. Seriously? Tears? It was bad! I would never recommend this store for anything really, but I can see more affluent clientele willing to pay $10+ for a tennis ball, $50+ for a bag of food (found $25-35 elsewhere) , out of the convenience of its location. I'm pretty much a regular here. My boyfriend and I got a puppy 5 weeks ago and he goes through food, treats, and toys like no other (okay, you got me. I just spoil him). The staff are very friendly and accommodating. Their puppy package is awesome, but I was a little disappointed with the puppy trim, as I was under the impression that it was a full grooming experience. Yes, it's a chain, but I enjoy it. I have an aquarium of fish and like coming here because the prices are much more competitive than the mom-and-pop shops. This location carries the filters my aquarium requires, along with a decent assortment of fish-related goods. The inventory isn't always the most stocked, but I'm able to find what I need. I've noticed that the service is a hit or a miss. Many of the employees appear to be college-aged and more invested in their personal convos than the customer. This isn't always the case, though. I've found Laurie to be exceptional when it comes to customer service and product knowledge. She is very personable and always puts forth an effort to make me feel welcomed and valued. I've gained a lot of useful fish maintenance tips, thanks to her. Kudos! I will be back soon. read more

The WORST place for grooming ever!!! The person responsible for grooming here was extremely rude and impatient. The staff told me on the phone I don't have to bring the rabbis vac certificate to the store cuz my dog did grooming at their place before(they have the record on their computer), however, after I came there, that Mexican groomer refused to take my dog because I didn't bring the certificate. She denied everything I talked to the staff member on the phone. I begged her like 4 times because I had rescheduled 2 times before and I had my graduation ceremony today. However, she still said no indifferently. I also promised I can run back to my home and grab the certificate to her, it takes no more than 3 mins( I live in Hollister Village which is next to PetSmart). Then, she said she has a strict schedule which means she couldn't even wait for 3 mins. Ironically, my appointment was scheduled at 9 but she kept talking to the phone till 9:06. What a fake person she is. If you guys really wanna do business, you must treat your customer with respect at least. Go hire someone who's a real animal lover to do grooming! Absolutely disgusted and ashamed of the grooming they gave our dog. She looks EXACTLY the same as before the haircut a complete and utter waste of time and money. I didn't know people could be this incompetent to give my dog back to me with literally NO VARIATION TO HER COAT. I hope they at least washed my dog but I can't tell because there is literally NO DIFFERENCE except for the fact that I have $25 less in my wallet. I was in here tonight looking for food for my cat. As I was checking out, I saw a kitten that I wanted to adopt. There was a girl checking us out who was extremely rude. I didn't understand that the store closed at 7 because online it's said 8pm. She continued being rude and handed me the adoption papers. I saw my dad struggling outside the with the amount of stuff he was carrying so I quickly ran out to help him. He actually hurt his finger really badly. The woman comes out of the store demanding I return inside to fill the paperwork out. She had no right to talk to me like I was some idiot. So she was the reason I didn't fill out the adoption papers to save a kitten. How rude. Hopefully that kitten will find another loving home. And please treat your customers kindly. This is a new PetSmart in Goleta, right off the 101 and easy to find. Smaller shopping center but plenty of parking. They were still sort of getting everything set up when I was there so there were some things in back aisles that hadn't been put on shelves etc. Many employees offering to help customers find stuff. Only live animal sales at this location are live freshwater fish. They have aquarium plants and I think they have live insects as food. I was pleased to see they offer some free cat and dog toys up at the front counter. All the employees I met were very nice and friendly. Store was clean and fairly well stocked. A bit low on small dog clothes which seemed unusual since they were a new store but maybe they didn't have all their merchandise out yet. Was hoping to find a particular toy on clearance but it should not have been too surprising to me I found little on clearance as this store is so new. read more

i was refused the right to purchase a fish because i would keep it in a dorm room. the way the woman addressed me about this matter was very rude, unprofessional, and passive aggressive. she would not sell the fish to me even though i was going to put the small goldfish in one of the plastic fish bowls that petsmart sells. i do not understand. i am not for animal abuse but this is ridiculous. 0/10 experience. no reptiles or birds to look at either. read more

The manager was super rude, she was completely obnoxious. She was willing to sell me a fish to be fed to other fish but not a goldfish for an aquaponics system. She said that feeder fish is a cycle of life, but so is an aquaponics system... Instead of approaching me in a calm and collected manner she spent 15 minutes printing out "proof" that she can refuse service. Highlighted some paragraph about how she can refuse service , just like any other private business can refuse service! I being a person of common sense, I already knew this. When I said thank you for the information and attempted to hand the papers back to her she refused to take them back. I left them on the side and she was like you need to throw it out. I didn't ask for this 30 page print out and thus should not be forced to throw it away. I understand that she had nothing better to do with her day then to treat me terribly but if you dislike customer service pick a different career path. I took my dog for a nail trimming and The people who helped me by the grooming counter were unprofessional, rude and kept leaving out important information that prolonged a visit that should have taken less than 10 minutes. For your convenience I'll tell you what they failed to tell me, 1st, you need proof of a rabies vaccination if it's your 1st visit. 2nd, the don't need the proof sent over, they just need to talk to your vet over the phone. 3rd, they need some basic information before you contact your vet. The two women behind the counter exchanged mocking looks with each other as I spoke with my vet and the guy who rung me up was extremely unhelpful. Never coming back. read more

First of all the manager of this store is terrible. I called in and spoke to her about coming in to get my dogs nails trimmed. She told me that I could come in right away and they would get him taken care of, so of course I rushed right in and when I got there they told me they couldn't take them. The thing that made me the most angry was that she was 5 feet away and still made the minimum wage cashier talk to me about it. Ugh!! This grooming place is horrible!!!! I cannot believe that this quality of service is allowed by management, it's the same experience mentioned by multiple users. I had to make 3 grooming appointments at this place, first time the groomer wasn't there, second time I was 6minutes late they wouldn't take us in, third time she said my yorkie teacup was barking when I was dropping him off and they wouldn't take him in. Got a few guppies here and they've lasted over a week, which is pretty good in my book. If they had died in the first four days, they would have let me exchange them anyway. This pet store is very small, and doesn't have a wide selection of pet supplies. Only pets they have there are fish. I was at least expecting hamsters or mice, but no folks, this place has nothing. I wanted some freshwater snails, and when I called to see if they had any, they didn't. So I drove all the way down town to the pet house (MVP pet shop right there) and got 2 zebra snails for 3.99 each. In the past I had gotten a couple bettas, and I really missed owning one. So for convince, I drove down to pet smart for an betta because I had a minimal amount of time. Half of the bettas were dead, and if they were alive, they're colors were extremely dull and the fins on all the fish were like something out of a horror movie! They were ripped and saggy. One more thing was when I went in to buy a Dalmatian molly and the worker opened the molly tank, it reeked of ammonia! I absolutely do not recommend this pet store. Absolutely Obsurd! read more

I just heard about this Petsmart opening up in Goleta. I decided to take a drive up the coast and see what was up. I took two of my dogs that need to be groomed on a regular basis. The young lady that groomed them (Ryleigh) was very sweet and nice to them. She also did a great job!! One of my angels is a special needs dog and she was patient and gentle with him. I highly recommend never getting your dog groomed here. The woman working had extremely poor attitude the moment I walked in until I came and picked up my dog then decided to go on and bad mouth me after I was very polite and friendly to her. I've been coming here for years and this ruined my whole experience here, on a second note the manager was onsite and was very professional with giving me a refund. So wonderful! My puppy had gotten matted from a new sweater she wore and I couldn't take care of this myself so I called Petsmart to see if there was any way they could take her in that day and make her more comfortable. They said 'no problem' and got me in within the hour. I didn't want to leave my puppy there alone - so I waited - and I also wanted to make sure that the groomer didn't 'over trim' her and make her look bad. Well, Adi couldn't have been lovelier - she was really gentle with my puppy and got all the affected areas beautifully handled and then carefully trimmed the nearby areas of my dog's long fur coat to match nicely with areas that needed to be shaved. My puppy's tail even wagged a few times - between the fussing of course - and she came out looking great and feeling great. Adi did a wonderful job and I will return! read more
