Hold on tight.....this is a RANT!!!! I went this morning to get my dog's top layer trimmed down. Told the young man in there what I wanted and he said okay. He then made me an appointment for this afternoon. When you pull up our account....you see my dog's picture so you know what I was working with. I came in and I was told that a young lady (that wasn't in there earlier) was going to do it. She explained to me what would happen if they touched his under coat and I told her that I understood. Then I pointed at the picture they have of shaven coats to let her know where he is and where I wanted him to be and told her I didn't want his under coat touched. She then went into the temperature regulation and I again told her that I understood and that we had done everything else for 4 years and this is the last straw. Took some loose hair from him and showed her what was coming off and she said, "oh my God"..... and I said yes! All over my house and we both laughed. She then went into what could happen again and I said, "wait....i said that I understand....i don't know what is happening here". I looked at the young man in the back and said, "me and you talked, I thought me and you had an understanding". He shook his head yes and I said, "it really seems like you don't want to do it". She said "no!!! I will do whatever you want me to do" and I replied, "now I am nervous because I told you I understood all of what you are saying but you kept going like you don't want to do it. I just need help because this hair is excessive"! She then said, "well.....he is still going to shed.....it will just be smaller hairs". I told her that was the point! I then felt extremely uncomfortable and upset because this was my only day off and now I don't want to put him in the hands of someone that could be like, "I'll show her". I said I will have to go somewhere else. She said okay. Before I walked out of the store, I found a manager and told them what happened. They spoke to the young man and got a story from him and came back to me. The manager says that the young man said that he can do it for me tomorrow and for half off. I told him that this was my only day off and I am now afraid to leave my dog in the hands of someone that could be vindictive and I give them the example of arguing with someone that is dealing with your food. The young man came out during that part and told me that animal health and safety was their main priority and that they would never do anything like that. I told him I really hoped not. He then said that I didn't bring my dog in earlier so he didn't know what my dog looked like (again....we have an account and when you pull it up on the computer, you can see them). I told him that she kept beating a dead horse with the possibilities and I told her that I understood multiple times. It was just too much. I just don't feel comfortable. He said, "well, maybe you should go somewhere else because now WE feel uncomfortable.....". I said, "you have got to be kidding me"! I came in here, explained what I needed.....was told I could get it and then had someone make me feel uncomfortable because they were acting like they didn't want my business and was even offered an appointment the next day for HALF OFF and NOW ALL OF YOU IN GROOMING FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE "?!?!?!?! "And this is why I said I didn't want my dog in here for any of you to do it because after all of that, ya'll NOW feel uncomfortable "?!?!?! I said wow and okay. I'm done. I have never dealt with ANYTHING like this in a long time. I never got loud, smart at the mouth or anything!!!!! This was simply foul and a great example of all of the employees sticking together. The manager didn't even chime in!!!!! If you get into it with one, don't trust your fur babies to the rest!!!! Beyond disappointing and I have 3 dogs and they all have been there multiple times and we spend a ridiculous amount of money there. Never again. They get one star because they got 2 managers and neither one did anything! read more

This place has taken a complete turn around. This all stated roughly 3 months ago. We left our Shih Tzu. there at 8:15am and she was the last one done. So my dog sat there in a cage from 8:15 am until 5pm without any water or food even we had brought her food with us. Once we picked her up we were upset because the owner didn't offer any kind of apology. Now he won't even book us. read more

Beware of taking your fur babies to the Petsmart on Joe battle next to Best Buy. We took our schnauzer to get his monthly grooming. We usually got to the Eastlake location and never have issues. We wanted a typical schnauzer cut with a skirt and the employee shaved all of his fur off. We called after 4 hours and thought it was odd since it usually takes no more than an hour. When we picked him up, the employee, Anaiza G simply gave the dog over to me. I noticed the dog was bleeding from his ear and pointed it out. She simply asked, "you want to talk to my manager." It didn't seem like she was going to mention the cut had we not pointed it out. There was no explanation as to what happened. The dog's ear continued to bleed. My dog is in pain and is not eating because of the injuries. Once we got home we found other cuts on his body. My daughter could not stop crying seeing her pet in pain. read more

Grooming place is rude. No one is friendly and they all have bad customer service. I was visiting and I had booked an appointment for a bath for my dog. She just hit her 4 months and she hadn't got her rabies yet. So my appointment was canceled. Which I was fine with. No stars. Pets Mart stores in El Paso, TX, mainly the stores on Joe Battle (Montana and Montwood), should be reviewed for inappropriate and unprofessional behavior by management. They did not care that a pet was hurt in their care, while being groomed, and had to be treated twice by the vet for an infection caused by a cut received at the Joe Battle and Montana store. In addition to that horror, the hair cut received by the pup was atrocious. The salon manager, who groomed him and caused the infection, didn't bother placing the shield on the clippers and cut his fur down to the skin. She realized the error, I suppose, then continued to cut without trying to fix the mistakes. My poor pup looked like he had mange. When I tried to take this up to the store manager's attention, he did not care, did not listen, and turned it around on me. I asked if they cared one bit about this poor pup or me, as a 15 year loyal customer with 3 pets. The store manager said he did not. I'm pretty livid. I can't believe Pet's Mart has such low caliber managers. I can't believe Pets Mart would be so unprofessional and uncaring. Beware...if you love your pets, DO NOT have them to the grooming salon at either Joe Battle location, or any Pets Mart for that matter. They've lost me, my pets, and all of the profits these store got from us. read more

We have used their grooming service in the past at first we thought they great but the more we used them we noticed that they rarely did what we requested. There was always some excuse to what happened but the major reason we stopped was their price. Personally $75.00 for dog grooming is outrageous. Grooming prices vary greatly through out the El Paso area and you need to be very careful who you take your beloved animal. Read some reviews of what happens it will scare you. We finally found a place in Horizon City that only charges $35.00 and does a great job. We have been their 4 times and they have done a great job but as with most dog grooming services you are only as good as your last visit. read more

i always bring my dog Sam here, he has his favorite groomer Anna Belle. she is really sweet and gentle with sam. Sam has a little of separation anxiety but she really takes her time taking him to the back and i love that. they always let me know how he did. the manager at this petsmart is very knowledgeable and has helped me several times while purchasing items. read more

I love Petsmart. Always super friendly and helpful people whenever i come here, and when i was desperate to buy my cat some prescription food toward their closing time, the manager helped me out big time. The Banfield vet clinic was already closed for the day and they're the only one who processes prescriptions for food to allow customers to buy it. The manager that night, bless his soul as i forget his name, he was kind enough to override that temporarily since i really needed to buy it right then and there. Thank you good sir!! Its great how petsmart has all the prescription food readily available for anyone who brings in a prescription script. And you dont even have to go through their vet. Only downside is how we cant easily play with the cats unless we intend to adopt. West side one lets you at least play with them thru the cages. And i wish their toys and products like cat scratching posts weren't so expensive! I mean, i know it may be worth paying for something put together rather than myself putting it together, but still! I WAS a loyal customer of Petsmart for many years until a recent incident with the grooming department. I would like to preface this review by stating that I know my dog can be difficult to groom because she has sensitive skin. It should also be noted my dog is 10 lbs and doesn't have many teeth. When I lived in another city, the groomers worked with her and were always communicative with me about her behavior when groomed, giving tips on how to make it easier for her. This is what I expect from a professional groomer. I was told by the groomer that my dog gave her a hard time. She did not elaborate about what that meant. The groomer said she had finished grooming my dog but would not allow her to come back. Again the only explanation was that she gave the girl a hard time. Not all dogs are rays of sunshine when being groomed and a professional should be aware of this and at least attempt to work with the owner and animal before "banning" them from an establishment. I did not want to argue with this person over the phone because they were still in possession of my dog who is very precious to me. To add insult to injury when I checked out my dog after the grooming it was clear that pretty much nothing had been done. I paid for a premium package that was to include bath, brushing, grooming, nail grind, and tooth brushing. It looks like all the girl did was give her a bath, shave around her tail, and trim around her face. Not to mention the crooked ear trim. So I paid $86 for a bath and a little trim. I will be taking my 25% tips to another groomer and will also not be purchasing anything from this or any other Petsmart. If my dog is not welcome, we will take our money elsewhere. read more

Took my dog in for a grooming and he came back missing his 2 bottom teeth!!! When I asked what happened the clerk had the nerve to tell me the dog bit the scissors while I was cutting his hair. This is not possible. They said their vet had seen him and that he was ok. I spoke to the vet directly and she said the dog was bleeding and cried in pain all night. If she is a legit vet she would have atleast given him some medicine. It's been 3 days and my puppy has just started to eat. I made a police report already and will be following up to take legal action. Beware of this place. read more

I brought my Aussiedoodle in for the second time, and this time was not pleased. I was given a price before bringing him in and told them what exactly I wanted done, like having his underside shaved so he doesn't get any rashes. The overall grooming job was good, but they didn't shave his underside like I asked! And what pissed me off the most is they raised the price by almost twenty bucks because they changed his breed in the system! He is an Aussiedoodle, half Australian shepherd, and his hair is shaggy like one! The lady tried to say his hair wasn't and she put him in as some random (more expensive) breed. Not to mention she did not call me about the price change to see if I was willing to pay it! Should I return, they will be putting him in the system as the proper breed or I will take my business else where. read more

Okay this is where I go for everything with my pet. This is his vet--- Banfield. It's alright sometimes the front desk ladies are RUDE!!! And his vet didn't call back for his lab results and when I stopped by I couldn't get any information just to call. Why call when I'm in the store? Stupid. Next, I buy all his dog food, treats and toys here. He's extremely picky so if he doesn't like a treat I just bring it back with receipt. It's a great deal. Hit or miss with customer service. Lastly, just tried the groomer this weekend. The first person I spoke with was sweet. I asked for a deshedding shampoo because I have a pug but he got the oatmeal shampoo. Not a BIG deal but I asked for something and I expect it. Other than that he came out looking DAPPER! His fur is smooth and cut perfectly! I loved the pawgress report I got for him. He loved the toothpaste but not the nail grinder. Next time I'll save $22 for no nail grinding service. Overall most reliable groomer! read more

Our dog was in need of a nail trim and since we needed a few things from PetSmart, we decided to use their grooming services while we shopped. The girl who greeted us was nice but seemed a little inexperienced. She struggled with inputting our info and dog description. She then took our dog out-of-sight through a door because her tools "were in the back" as she put it. After about 20-25 minutes we went back to pick up our dog. She had hit a couple of nail quicks. Our dog is good-spirited and seemed calm so it's hard to say if it hurt him very much. She didn't apologize and seemed reluctant to tell us it had happened until I specifically asked. We took our form and checked out at the front counter. The cashier asked if we had had dog training from Pet Smart, which we had not, then REALLY pushed it. We said we were not interested but she kept on and even called the manager over to try and persuade us. He seemed aggravated when we again said we were not interested. Whew. Fast forward a few days later and our dog got a cough that sounded awful. No exposure to other dogs, we have a fenced in yard, no additional public outings, etc. The vet said it was likely he had gotten kennel cough from Pet Smart. I know things happen but after all the hoopla we just trim his nails at home now. read more

Took my 6 week old puppy for grooming recommended by his veterinarian due to his skin condition. Made an appointment on a Monday for a Friday. I informed the girl who helped me over the phone y I was grooming him and how he was. I arrive that Friday explaining his situation they asked for shots so I told them he's 6 weeks old and just got his parvo shot . Then they say oh he has to be 8 wks old in order for a grooming. Wtf!! I've been coming here for almost three years now and have not had a problem. When my dog was a puppy she had a sensitive stomach so I had to keep switching her food to find one she liked. The employees let me exchange her food even if I opened it for a new one they were patient and helpful. The groomers are very nice people as well if your dog is nervous they take their time to let the dog warm up to them. We came to get my sister a guinea pig. We were about to purchase one when my friend suggested that we should hold one to make sure there's nothing wrong with him. Upon holding the little guy, my friend, not the employe, discovered there was something wrong with his foot. It was reported to the specialist there and he said the pet had ring worm. Ring worm is very contagious and that poor thing looked like he had it for awhile. The other Guinea pigs are most likely infected as well. Please check the pets before purchasing from here because they could be sick and need vet care. read more

*their deshedding package is a JOKE AND A COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY* Review is based on the grooming dept only. Really disappointed and I wish I never would have strayed from Petco. My dog is nearly 9 years old and has been groomed many times and this HAS NEVER HAPPENED before. I was new to the area and desperately needed my German Shepherd mix to have a thorough brush out and bath. I went ahead and scheduled the de-shedding package along with flea treatment and a nail trim. Long story short the de-shedding package was incomplete. I don't think a brush was even taken to his body. He was shedding just as bad as before I took him in!!! I asked for a refund the day I took him in because his shedding was so out of control. It's always awkward when your dissatisfied with your service, for me anyway, and I figured since he had been shampooed I would pay for the "bath" and asked for a partial refund. Looking back I should have asked For everything back! It was almost $40 for a German shepherd shampoo. In total I was charged nearly $100 and was refunded $27.00 back . So nearly $70.00 bucks for some whack service? Ridiculous. I was disgusted and didn't want to argue so I took it and left. I've contacted corporate and have yet to get a response. I will never go back to this location or any Petsmart .It's been a little over a week and I'm gonna have to shell out the money to take him in to an actual place that delivers what it claims. read more

I really like this Petsmart and out of all 3 locations in El Paso, the Joe Battle is my favorite. I feel that the employees are always friendly and helpful. I feel the store is clean and well organized. I like the items they carry, they have a great variety of grain free brands of both cat and dog food. Every time I take my dogs in, the employees are always so polite and they make my pets happy welcoming them and offering them a treat. I always feel an all over good shopping experience. I have 6 dogs, 1 cat, a 55 gallon fish tank and 2 reptiles so lets just say this Petsmart is my once to 3 times a weekly favorite shopping spot :) read more

We took our two small dogs in for a complete grooming. The young lady that waited on us seemed a little lost and could not even explain the appointment policy as to why if you have an appointment at 6:00pm it should take 4 hours to groom our dogs. When I pointed our that 4 hours would be an hour after the store closed she responded "oh yeah, I guess your right it is". When we picked up our fur babies, they did not smell clean (like they had been bathed), their nails were not trimmed well. They were a mess. Then the groomer actually put his hand out expecting a tip for terrible service. Not what I would have expected from PetSmart. You could do better bathing them in the kitchen sink. My husband and I have been taking our 3 dogs to this Petsmart for quite some time and never had an issue, but today was different. I got a call 2 hours after I dropped them off and when I went, only 2 of my dogs were ready. When I got there to pick them up, one of my dogs was still a little wet and then one of the girls said she confused my Lhasa Apso with another dog that she thought belonged to another family, while using air quotes, so he his grooming wasn't even started yet. She knew I wasn't happy and I asked her how long it would take which she told me. Someone called about an hour later but didn't leave a message because I missed the call, so I called back to see if they were done with my 3rd dog and they said yes. They said they called but there was no answer. I don't get why it's so hard to leave a quick voicemail stating that my dogs are ready to be picked up. I can tell my dogs weren't happy about being there, so I have decided that I will not be taking them back there again. read more
