If you know anything about fish, then you know when there are dead fish in a tank to watch the others. If a few die, then the tank needs to be quarantined. I just spoke to the employees upfront about it. They didn't care at all acting as if it's no big deal that they had dead fish. It makes me wonder how the other pets for sell are treated here. I'll still go to the Banfield at this location due to Dr. Fields being fantastic with my cats, but I'll buy my pets' supplies at the nearby Petco from now on. If you don't care about all of the pets there, then you shouldn't work at the pet store at all. read more

I have always had a great experience at this Pet Smart location. Returning home after 20 years in Boston, I was very attached to my friends at the Cambridge, MA PetSmart. There my baby (at that time), Monte the Frenchie, learned the ropes at Banfield, the Pet's Hotel & Grooming. The staff at the Commack location have made the transition smooth. While in this store, near the grooming area, myself and a few other customers witnessed a groomer having difficulty with a dog; instead of handling the situation professionally she choose to be abusive! I am DISGUSTED and INFURIATED by what we witnessed this evening! We witnessed a groomer being abusive to a beautiful husky type of dog! I am giving the description as I am not this pets owner and would like the pet parent to know why their dog is traumatized after being groomed today! That being said, when I had walked up you could hear the groomer yelling at the dog as the door would open. Through the window you could easily witness her shoving this dog. You could witness a shove that caused the dog to get off the table (or more like fall off the table). We were able to witness her lift the dog from the table by its leash (not supporting the rearend as she took the dog from the table) as she stepped to the back room. We also further witnessed her pull the dog's tail after the dog apparently had enough and nipped at her. This behavior, from what should be a trained professional, is a disgrace. I came home to see if there had been other complaints and found about a year and a half ago there was a complaint of a dog having its tail severed, among others. I filed a complaint with the manager prior to leaving the store, I called corporate to file a complaint and don't know where that will go but I will be filing a complaint with the SPCA first thing Monday morning! No this is not my dog, however if this were anyone of my dogs I would hope someone would do the exact same for them! read more

I went into this pet smart on my way to visit family, I needed a few things for my dog. While I was there I needed to use the guest bathroom in the store. I walked in and had to walk right out. I could not even make my purchases I was so disgusted with the bathroom. One of the stalls had human feces all over the floor and back of the toilet. It also looked like its been there for days. I can't believe that a business allows their store bathroom to look like and stay like that when you have employees there all day and customers coming and going. That is a health hazard. If thats how the employees leave their bathroom and don't care, how do they handle their products? So unprofessional. CLEAN YOUR BATHROOM BEFORE SOMEONE GETS SICK!! read more

Please be careful leaving your dog at their hotel. My sister left her 2 dogs there when she came to visit me 4 hours away. Long story short, she got a phone call that one was sick and they needed to come get her. Had a friend close by pick the puppy up and take her to the emergency vet nearby. (their vet "couldn't fit her in") hours later the puppy was dead. Vet said could have been a toxic substance. The puppy suffered horribly. Petsmart denies all. Icing on the cake: they gave her the "report card" saying how both puppies had a wonderful time while they were there. Think twice before using them! read more

I can't speak for the groomer service as I don't use it, but the shopping experience there is always just fine. I buy exclusively Blue Buffalo products, save a rare treat bag from another brand, so I like going there as they always have the products I'm looking for. Their discounts don't get as deep as competitors do, but they do have a few bucks off rather often & that is convenient. They almost have some discounted toys I can take advantage of also. This review is for the pet hotel. Trying to get my dog to stay for a couple of days in February. Hotel Manager Susan without looking at a computer was telling me that there was no space available, that they were booked and all this after I told her my dogs name. She then went on to say that my dog does not like to stay in the upper spots and there's no lower spots available. She did not even try to accommodate me. My discussion and displeasure did change anything. So I felt like I don't need to go there again. Otherwise they usually treated him well read more

This big-box pet store has great selection, as you would expect for its size. We also bring our mixed breed long hair dog there for grooming, and they are pleasant and patient. I like that they have flat rate pricing with all the things included like toothbrushing and flea dip. read more

I love this place! Great selection of products. The hours for vet services are great. The nurses are warm, the doctors are personable and everyone takes a moment to make sure you know all you need to know about your pet's health. Things get a little busy sometimes, but when it's your time, it's your time. Also, the grooming staff is wonderful. They listen well and give you exactly what you want. My mini poodle leaves looking like a princess. If your pet needs grooming and vet services, the two departments communicate and coordinate despite not technically being affiliated. Even though the veterinary services are rendered by a different national chain, the PetSmart staff is right there to let you in for early morning appointments. It's a partnership that works well for everyone! I'm hoping they'll open a pet hotel at this location, too. read more

Great service. I have been going here consistently every two months for the last year. I love Vetco, makes like much more affordable. Staff here is awesome. Has a lot of selection of food for my dog. Really happy with the service. There are a number of people posting bad reviews who have never been here. They read someone's story online and give one star reviews based on that. Went here looking for live plants for my fish tank. I'm walking around looking and the employee looked like she was avoiding customers. The plant selection were very limited and a lot wasn't in stock. I then asked her when they would be getting more plants in... she doesn't know. Then I began asking her about my other fish and their tank and she was unable to answer any questions. If you're going to have employees working with different species of animals the company should at least provide some education so they can answer questions. read more

Absolutely awful experience it started off bad right off the bat when I walk in and they have no record of my appointment Julia took all my information the day before and I get there and nothing. Then to top it off a very nasty manager of the grooming department refuses to accept my rabies cert because it does not have the dogs name on it since the dog was vaccinated as a puppy before it was adopted and named even though the tag number matched the cert and when the manager said it was fine she lies right to my face and says none of the girls are comfortable grooming my dog even though she did not ask any of them that question while I was right there with all of them Don't worry Christine I will speak to corp read more

I was bringing my dog to Olympia for years. When my dog reached 15 years old, I was told she could not groom my dog any longer because of his age. Now I am hearing horror stories about Olympias. Our dogs are like our children! A good pet owner will take care of them to the end and when we are not around we want the best possible care we can get. Im very pleased with the service and care at commack pet hotel at petsmart. The staff if wonderful and caring and makes you feel very comfortable your dog will be well taken care of. When I drop off my Golden Retriever for play or checks in to the hotel I mostly deal with Lauren who works in the pet hotel. You cant get much better! She is such a pleasure to deal with and gives good advice if your having any issues. Its so nice to see a smiling face and to have a pleasant conversation to calm your nerves before drop off. read more

I would not recommend this location to anyone. I had taken my dog there to get a bath nothing complicated. I received a call that my dog was too aggressive for them to finish the process so I had to go back to pick her up wet. My dog has been going to groomers all her life and has never been aggressive towards anyone. As soon as I took my dog out of the store she was calm. I think they need to get new groomers that actually know how to work with animals. read more

Do not bring your dog here if you have a breed that requires a specific cut. They are not qualified skilled or trained as professional groomers. My dog, a standard poodle was there for hours and the clip was awful; uneven clip throughout body, not fluffed, the pompom head removed, tail is missing full sections of fur, and I think he was traumatized. Don't know what happened there during the 4 almost 5 hours but he was not himself when he got home; sad and hid in his bed the rest of the day and wouldn't even eat. read more

Soooo happy with the Doggie Daycamp! My Lucie goes there on days when I work a full day and she comes home tired and happy at the end of the evening. I was very nervous about taking her there for the first time and like a mother hen, called during my lunch break to check in on her the first couple of days. The staff there are truly nice and real dog lovers. They really keep a very good eye on the dogs and quickly know the personalities of each dog they care for. I look forward to bringing Lucie there each week because I know that she is safe, cared for, and having a great day. read more

I am writing with regard to the doggie day camp and over night boarding. The people who work there are compassionate and kind always to my dog Ella. They all have taken the time to get to know her, and when I bring her they all remember her and are so good to her. She absolutely LOVES going here. It is safe.... I never have to worry about her escaping. They assess the dogs in camp so I don't worry about any aggressive dogs (and you can watch all you want from their huge window), and it is very clean. I cannot say enough good things about the staff of the day care and overnight. I don't trust my dog to many places; this is by far the best camp and overnight experience I have had. read more

I will never bring my dog here again! I truly believe she was sedated! She has never acted so "off" before and was like that for about 16 hours after her grooming. Not only that, but I am convinced that she got hurt somehow because she will not let me near her legs. It's so upsetting. We bring our Siberian Husky, Frost to doggie day camp three-four days a week. When we arrive we are always greeted by friendly and knowledgeable employees. Lauren Lubarda, Susan Beringer, and Cady Hintze are the best! They really care about our dog and his well being. When we leave Frost here we always know he is in good hands. When we pick him up he is always clean, fed, and happy to return. Not only do they care for him, but they always give great advice and recommendations for training, foods, or even toys. We would not consider bringing our Frost anywhere else! read more

First, let me say my dog is always beautifully groomed at this PetSmart. My poor review is due to an experience my mother had today with the groomer and the attitude she was met with after two years of patronage. My mother usually brings our dog for grooming every 6 weeks during the work week. This time, she asked for a Sunday appointment so that someone else could be available to take my dog to be groomed. She is going in for surgery and being pulled by a 90lb dog post surgery would clearly not be recommended. After scheduling an afternoon appointment on a Sunday, the groomer told my mom that my dog would have to be brought in by 9am in order to be groomed on a weekend. While I understand every establishment has policies, rules can and should be bent for longstanding customers and one would think that someone you've worked with for years might have some compassion considering the circumstances. We will not be going back. Customer service and attitude is everything! read more

They take the time with my dog to make her comfortable and at ease, even when she's nervous, they have oodles of patience and never ever force anything as they are so very kind and caring. These groomers are professionals and are supervised daily by a top Lead Grooming Supervisor ensuring even further that every detail for the pet and owner is met. They've always gone beyond to make sure Hilde is a happy and beautifully groomed girl. I know for a fact that she is in the best of hands and would never groom her anywhere else. A real perk is that when we put her in the very fun day camp and/or day care at the Pet Hotel, the Groomers can pull her out for an appt. I am furious with the grooming department at the commack/smithtown, NY location. Today is not the first time that they have cancelled on me in the last minute because of groomers calling out. I purposely waited to have my dog groomed until today as I am having surgery tomorrow and now they cancelled. Again. The last time I used them was right before something else we planned as well and needed it done and I was left to scramble to find someone else. What's worse is that today is a Sunday, everyone else is booked or not open. This company is not some little one man show with no recourse if that one guy has an issue. They need to have a better plan in place if yet another unreliable worker calls out other than cancelling. Have a back up person or it just has to screw over the other workers so those people who so easily call out might not be so flippant about not coming to work since they'll actually have to deal with a fall out. Since it's a big company I'm pretty sure they're not going to care about this 1 unhappy customer, but as this is not the first time I've been cancelled on in the last minute by them I will not be using their services again. What's the point in even trying to book again, no matter how happy I may have been with the grooming- it will only be cancelled and I'll be left racing around again trying to find someone else. read more
