Well I struggled with trying to use this store for boarding and grooming for a good decade. When I finally stopped and went someplace else, I realized that they were traumatizing my dog. I use this PetSmart for buying supplies, day camp, boarding, and training. The staff here, whether it's sales people or hotel/camp staff, always treats my pets with compassion and care. My dog loves going to day camp and he especially loves Linda C, the trainer. They are also very conscientious of individual needs and potential issues with dogs in play groups. read more

I just got back from getting my dogs nails trimmed and had to give credit to Jake for his gentleness and wonderful way with my dog. We adopted her and was told she HATED getting her nails cut. I told Jake he may need a muzzle but I was so pleasantly surprised when I got back from paying to see him working on her with NO problem!! This review is primarily in regards to the Collegeville Pets Hotel, which I would advise avoiding at all costs. (It does not apply to the Salon and the only thing I have to say about the associates on the floor is positive.) It goes without saying that the people (mostly exceptionally young girls) working at a PetsHotel should be properly educated on the behavior and body language of the animals they are being TRUSTED with. When we were preparing for a trip to Florida to spend time with ailing family members, we called the PetsHotel in the Collegeville PA PetSmart. The associate there informed up that the best time to drop off our two dogs, one a rottie and one a mutt, would be the evening before our flight. Fine. So we dropped our babies off at 8:15-8:20 the evening before we left. Firstly, my fiancé brought in our old mix first. It seemed as though that went fine. She's a poor little old rescued thing. They take her back. When I bring in out rottie, however, I immediately see the two associates hesitate. Okay, I think, this is very close to being the suburbs of nothing but tiny terriers and doodles galore. So I try to be pleasant and smile. "He's a good boy," I tell them. "He's taking classes to become a Therapy Dog. He loves people especially long ladies and children." And that's true. For nearly 8 years I worked for Petsmart myself!! As a Pet Training Instructor. I know canine behavior and my rottie used to be my Demo Dog, which meant that periodically, he came to work WITH me to teach other dogs and their owners. And yet, that fear-- that ignorance-- of a large Rottweiler was ever present. Still, he had stayed there MULTIPLE times before. There had always been a young gentleman working in the hotel that I felt safe leaving our pups with. Well, he wasn't there that night. In fact, the only people that WERE there were associates in the teens (maybe one or two in their 20's); people that had never met my dog before. When handing the leash over, the youngest girl (couldn't have been older than 18, with a brown pony tail and rain boots on), DIDNT EVEN WANT to take the leash. I should have known then. But the other associate tried to "smooth" things over. My fiancé and I left saying "they'll be fine. They are fine every time they go." And we drive the 6 minutes back home. At 8:35pm I get a call. The girls from the hotel say, "he's very aggressive, we don't want to go near him. Come and get him". I said, "Are you sure you called the right person?" Instead of speaking intelligently, the girl just repeats herself. I tell her he's never in his LIFE acted out in such a way-- what was he doing? Growling? Barking? The girl replies with, "No, but...He's looking funny. We don't want to touch him to take the collar off. We refuse to take him" I made my fiancé pick him up because I knew I wouldn't be able to hold back my emotions if I went. From 8:20-8:35. No one even truly tried to get to know him in that time. He just "LOOKED SCARY." Luckily a family member could take him over night (our flight left at 5am!). The next day when my sister dropped him off at a PetsHotel near her, they said they LOVED having him there! Sometimes he got stressed for a few minutes when we left, but all in all-- it only took a few minutes to get him to relax and beg for pets!! When we got back from our trip and I went in to pick him up, everyone could not have been more pleasant or happier to greet me. "he did great!! We draw hearts all over his paperwork, everyone loves him so much! I don't know WHAT the Collegeville PetSmart was thinking, he's a very good boy," I was so pleased. I knew he would never act out in such a way, after so many years of training and diligence with him. But I suppose there's never a lack of ignorance in the world. When I went to pick up out other dog (who was "permitted to stay"-- even though they weren't even sharing a room and she's old so she sleeps for 90% of the day...oh really? She's PERMITTED to stay?! Thank you so much for being so thoughtful). I recieved NO APOLOGY for the mishap earlier in the week. In fact, I BARELY received ANY acknowledgement of ANY kind. They wanted me out (with my horrible horrible (therapy) dogs.) So i left. My second dog was filthy, smelled like urine and eliminated for an incredibly long time once I got her outside. Must not have taken her to the bathroom that morning JUST IN CASE she was "aggressive" too. I will never EVER return to a place where people are biased and treat your dogs negatively due to their own lack of knowledge and training. They really don't know who they were burning that day, but I hope they know now. I hope these girls receive the appropriate training they so desperately need, and if that gentleman that did so well with our dog no longer works there? I'd probably try to get him back, if I was the Collegeville PetsHotel. read more

DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG TO "DAY CARE/DAY CAMP" HERE! Today was my first day taking my almost 4 mos old Aussie to their "doggy day care" and it will be the last. I dropped my pup off at around 8:30am with a chew bone that I bought that same morning in the store prior to dropping him off. I asked the associate at the Dog Hotel counter if he can have the bone but she was unsure so she had to ask another associate. I was told it wasn't allowed so I went to exchange it for a different one while she took my pup in the back. When I came back I asked again if the one I got from the exchange was okay and the associate said yes. So I hand her the receipt and the chew "bone" (it was the one that looked like a bone with the stuff in the middle) and left. When I picked up my pup around 6:30pm, The chew bone was in a ziploc bag and were told that it was not allowed. So I take it back. An associate handed me my pup and told me that he didn't poop, just pee. I asked if he was fed and they told me he wasn't bc I needed to inform them that they need to feed my pup. So I take my pup and leave. My pup was so happy to leave that for the first time, he jumps inside the car. It was a sure sign that he was over that place. Later, I call and speak to the Manager, Jen. I informed her that I didn't know I was supposed to let them know that my pup needed to be fed by them. We got into an altercation and she defended the fact that my dog was not fed bc they weren't informed to do so. Mind you, on the paperwork they provided, it did not say anything about letting them know. It says that they offer Hill's Science Diet food and Ideal Balance at no charge. It also says that you can bring your own food if you would like to. My thing is, as a first timer, I should've been asked if I wanted them to feed my pup as I was under the impression from their paperwork that they will automatically feed those dogs who doesn't come with food. Also, if the chew bone I had given to them was not allowed, it should've still need in the wrapper and not in a ziploc. Please, if you don't read anything else in between, at least read this... This is a relatively new Petsmart location in Collegeville. The store is large and pretty well organized. The real reason I'm writing this review is for the grooming. My dog is very difficult when it comes to nail clipping and for $11 I can walk in anytime and get his nails trimmed. It takes two groomers to hold him down for the clipping and they are so nice about it. No appointment required, it rocks! read more

Overall the staff is competent and knowledgeable and friendly. Typical service and selection of other Petsmart's in the area. This Petsmart has two adoption groups for cats that take turns in the adoption center and or other locations in the store as they are available. This location doesn't have an active veterinary clinic at this time but they do have a pet groomer in the back of the store which is constantly busy and a Pet Hotel. They also have pet training classes and doggy day care. The service is decent and the shelves are stocked well. Just wish certain items for cats had a wider selection to choose from. This is the second time my dog has had to endure a staff not qualified or responsible enough to handle a call out. They say your dog will be here for four hours which is completely untrue. My dog has been here since 7:30 and it is currently 12:39 and he is still on the table so my dog has been in a kennel since then. Unprofessional inadequate and incapable of handling simple situations. If you don't mind your dog put in a cage for 4 hours then this is for you. read more

My one year old dog had a great time at the doggy day care. She was very nervous with the number of large dogs so an employee sat with her and gave her individual attention until she was comfortable. I left her for a 1/2 day and when I came to pick her up, that same employee was playing fetch with her. Bailey didn't want to leave. read more

The three times we've taken our dogs to PetsMarts Pet Hotel and grooming, they have come back with: pink eye and bite marks on their ears (another dog bit ours so hard that it needed an antibiotic ointment), missed nails during grooming. And today- after we paid $77 for a furminator grooming, nail grinding and teeth brushing, we noticed that our dogs nails had been crudely chopped down instead of filed smooth. They keep no notes on what actually was done, so I'm just expected to take her back in for the $14 service I already paid for. PLUS, we dropped both dogs off at the same time but one was a walk in service- we stopped for lunch and got a phone call fifteen minutes later saying they couldn't hold our other dog because she didn't have an appointment- why wasn't this mentioned before we walked out? The girl who was working the desk asked us to pay upfront- i presented my card for payment and signed several sheets. Three days later I get a call from a manager saying that we didn't pay our bill! Oh really. We were there THREE times in two days dealing with your mistakes- and you're not smart enough to run the card when it was handed to you? read more

We went through training here. It was worth the price and has helped our dog with some basic commands. PetsHotel -- AVOID! When we were going to be home late, we would send our 15 pound dog to daycare ("day camp" as they call it) so that he wouldn't be alone in our home all day. We took him more times than can be counted on all of your fingers and toes. My fiance would always drop him off. At first, he would get there before they had the dogs in the play room, so we never got to really see what went on. When he started going in later, my fiance would watch the dogs in the room and report back that dogs would pee and poop and other dogs would start eating the poop on the floor while the employee inside stood around! Then, when I started to check up on the dog during the day, I began to see discrepancies between what I observed and the employee's account of events. I would pick him up and be told that they took him outside but he wouldn't go to the bathroom. He would be whining crazily and the second we got out, pee all over the sidewalk. I know my dog--there is no way they took him out and he held it to the point of being that uncomfortabe. One day, they told me that he and another dog needed to be separated from each other and they were going to cage them for a half an hour until they "split the groups for the day." I called back to see if he was doing better TWO HOURS later and was told that they hadn't split the group yet, things came up and they were running behind, so he was still caged. I was really upset that they had lied to me, expressed so, and was then told that it didn't matter because he was in the back sleeping anyways. My dog would never sleep in a crate in a strange environment with lots of new smells and sights. I called the front desk to ask that a manager check on my dog. He said that while my dog wasn't sleeping, he didn't seem upset so I should just wait a while longer. I expressed that I was more upset with the fact that the employees lied to me about what was really going on when I couldn't be there to look for myself. The manager first told me that I should understand that "things happen" in regards to them being two hours behind on splitting the dogs into groups. Then, I was told that my dog is snippy anyways, so they should really just crate him all day. I was completely shocked and absolutely appalled. I will never bring my dog there again; they would rather lie than handle situations the right way. As for the store, product selection is great and the customer service at the registers is reasonable. If you are looking for something, you need to ask the "right" person because many employees aren't sure where other things are. If you can find it, they have almost anything you could want. It is generally clean and organized and they sometimes have great sales. Prices are competitive. read more

This is my local Petsmart store and I've always had a great experience there. The staff are always friendly and offer to help and aren't deterred by my very anxious rescue barking at them at first (I take her with me as much as I can to socialize her a little more). I recently decided to take my dog there for a bath and a nail trim because she's a squirmy, strong dog and i got tired of wrestling with her to do it myself. I warned them of her anxieties, and also that she can be reactive to other dogs. They told me not to worry, that I was guaranteed I could pick her up in just under 4 hours (which worried me at the time) and I walked away wondering what kind of traumatic experience I was putting her through. Well three hours later they called me to pick her up. When I got there, they gave me her "pawgress" report and said she was great! When they went back to get her she came out looking so happy, not traumatized by me leaving her for so long like I expected. And as the employee walked her by another dog she was careful to not let her too close to avoid a reaction. She is soft and smells amazing. I was so happy to see that they treated her well and that they really listened to my warning on her behaviors. The price was right around what I expected, and I also had a coupon. Being able to take my nervous Nelly dog somewhere and not have to worry is priceless to me though! I will definitely keep using this store for all my doggy needs! read more

Took the puppies to Petsmart in collegeville to get their nails clipped. I have to say it was an amazing experience!! I could never do it myself since my puppies act like I am trying to murder them. The staff was amazing!!! I walked around the store while they were doing it, popping my in to see if they were ok.. ( not the dogs, the people doing it) lol. I'm so glad I did!! I saw a woman holding Spikey, kissing and petting him while the guy clipped his nails. Spike was very obviously upset but they did a fantastic job helping him to feel comforted. A++++++ guys!! Since my puppy was 4 months I've taken him to the petsmart Grooming Salon in Collegeville. Two weeks ago I took him there to get groomed, to get his nails trimmed and get his teeth brushed. A few days after I took him there he started to lick his private parts without stopping, first I thought he might had a urinary infection. So, I decided to give him another bath at home to see if it alleviated what was bothering him. After giving him a bath I decided to look at what could be the cause of the problem, and I saw he had a big cut on the skin of his penis which was inflamed. I took him to the vet and she told me that may it have been when they were grooming him, OF COURSE IT WAS. The cut is in the direction they went through with the clipper. The vet prescribed a topical spray for five days. That would not be a problem for me if they had been HONEST with me. And had said "look an accident happened, when I was grooming your puppy, I cut his skin but I cleaned it and disinfected it". It would be all right. But no, they prefer to PRETEND THEY DID NOT SEE IT and SAY NOTHING as if you were not going to find it out. I'M NOT STUPID. I'm very disappointed. I totally lost the trust I placed in them even after many friends told me that they had been through the same experience before. It's disgusting to see that kind of attitude. read more

If I could I would give this place Zero stars due to the HORRIBLE experience I just went through. I have two amazing dogs that frequented this establishment often from grooming and pet supplies. This past weekend I was in a wedding and needed a place for my dogs to stay for two nights. Never having used the Pet Hotel service before I reserved a shared suit a week prior and called twice to confirm the reservation just to show up and find that my information was saved but my requests were not met. Not only was a suit not available but I was instructed that my dogs would not be able to share due to their breed (even though I was instructed on the phone they would be accommodated) the staff was rude, uneducated and frankly unconcerned about not meeting simple expectations. WARNING if you leave your pet here they will be ignored as we were. I was a longtime customer but will never return due to this experience. read more

I have 3 dogs, 2 miniature schnauzers and a 12 year old Golden Doodle. Kathy grooms my dogs and they all come home looking like show dogs. My doodle is a nervous dog. Kathy is mindful of his age and his nerves and makes sure to get him in first and immediately calls me when he is done. I am so happy to have found Kathy. Schnauzers are not easy to groom with all the details and feathering and she is fantastic. My mother also has a King Charles and she grooms her. We both would recommend Kathy. read more

RUN!!! Left my dog at the Collegeville, Pet Hotel and day camp. My dog developed diarrhea and vomiting. The attendees did not clean up the mess, allowing the dog to remain in the mess. When I arrived to pick up my dog, I was presented with a dog with dirty fur from the diarrhea and vomiting. I had to ask the attendees to wash the dog. AVOID THIS LOCATION AT ALL COST. I have taken my dog to this petsmart for quite a while and never had any problems . The staff is usually very nice and accommodating to me and my dog . However , today I was disgusted with the rude man that accused my dog of urinating on a bed that was in one of the aisles. Yes, my dog has went to the bathroom before and we always clean it up. But this time he did not go to the bathroom once while in the store. And while walking up to pay , the man at the cash register tried to tell me that my dog had urinated on this bed and that I need to be more considerate because my dog made him "lose a product." What really made me mad was that he accused my dog based on his previous behavior . He did not urinate one time , let alone on the product. As we walked by , I had seen a dried spot of pee next to the bed he accused my dog of peeing on . My dog simply sniffed it and I pulled him away and brought him into the groomer . I was at Petsmart Saturday 10/21/17 getting my dog's nails trimmed. Another groomer (Jackie) was shaving a small dog (no more than 10 lbs) and the sound of the clippers was scaring the poor little thing, so he/she was squirming and resisting. Instead of keeping her composure and trying to calm the little dog down, Jackie was getting visibly irritated at this poor little thing and she began raising her voice to him/her saying 'no' and 'stop it'. I felt so bad for this little dog that i spoke up and said that by yelling at him, she is stressing him out more. Jackie didn't even give me the courtesy of a response (besides rolling her eyes). She put the dog away in the back, grabbed her coat, and stormed out telling her colleagues she was taking a break. When i reported this incident to the store manager, she did not give me the confidence that she felt there was a problem with Jackie's behavior. Unbelievable. If this behavior is tolerated by the manager, it is no wonder a colleague thinks it is OK to act the way she did on Saturday. It is obvious to me that Jackie is in the wrong profession. I will definitely not be taking my pets there for care again. read more

I have been bringing my 3 year-old yorki-poo to this Pet Smart location regularly for a couple of years now for their grooming, training. doggie day camp and Pet Hotel services. My dog and I could not be happier with the services. What I especially appreciate is the consistency of the staff. This is the third time we've had our boxer stay at the Petshotel. The first two times being last year and everything seemed fine. This time however was a completly dfferent story. She was there for four nights and as usual we paid extra for the suit to give her the extra space. We also added the AM and PM playtime and treats to make her stay more comfortable. When we picked her up this time she reaked. She smelled so bad of just stinky dog that we all could hardly stand the ride home with her. Her face was a mess and had crusty, goopy stuff from her eyes down to her nose. We took her home and bathed her and found fleas while drying her off! She has NEVER had fleas. Not one of our pets have ever had fleas. She was also acting very odd. Normally she would come home and be super excited to see everyone and just be all over the kids and us. This time although she was excited to see everyone, she was almost lethargic. She wasn't playing with the kids, wasn't following us around. She basically layed around and slept. We were home by 1:30 in the afternoon, bathed her and from that point on she was sleeping. Not normal behavior at all for her. Her "Pawgress Report Card" states that there were some leftovers from her food and yet we weren't sent home with any. I'm not sure what was or wasn't done this time around with her stay but I do know we will not be using them again. The fleas, smell of her and the nasty stuff on her face are enough for us to know that cleanliness is no longer a priority at this Petsmart Petshotel, but her lethargic behavior is an even bigger concern. Last year we recommend this place to our friends with pets, now I have to call and warn them not to go here. Very sad and disappointed. read more
