I retained…read moresomeone who lived very close to me and had great reviews, but after a few sessions I realized our schedules were not compatible; I was not getting consistency and reliability from her. It's important for me to make progress with my dog, so I Googled alternate options and stumbled upon Alex's page. I called him on a Friday and he picked up the phone right away. We spoke for a while about my needs and he came out the following Tuesday for what was supposed to be a 2-hour visit. I fell in love with him immediately, he is not only so personable and likable on his own, but he really takes the time to LISTEN to what you need and work on those things right away. I had mentioned my priorities to my previous trainer, but I found that she was teaching my dog commands that didn't actually accomplish what I was after. In our first meeting, Alex worked on SO MANY of my priorities. He got my dog to go into her crate on command, taught her to "stay," showed me how to "walk with" my dog better on her leash, and (using a 30' leash outdoors) started working on recall with her. We were so immersed in what was going on that Alex started to go a little bit over our time, but he didn't want to stop because we were making such great progress. I told him if he wanted to give me a third hour right then and there that I was prepared to pay for it, and he did!! I learned a lot of things from Alex myself during our first meeting, like how to employ the use of "deltas" (which my old trainer never once mentioned) and how non-verbal cues are arguably more important than verbal ones. Again, my old trainer actually discouraged me from using hand motions, but once incorporating them into my routine I noticed that my dog was much more compliant than she had been. Another positive difference between my old trainer and Alex is he really takes the time to teach you why he's doing what he's doing, and encourages you to participate. My old trainer just taught my dog a command and had me replicate/practice when she left. Alex really makes you feel like you are a part of the teaching process. After our private session Alex recommended some "Small Group Therapy" for my pup. He came at noon on a Thursday to pick up my dog and she proceeded to go on a several-hour outing with his two chihuahuas and a dog he was fostering. The entire time he was out with her he was recording and sharing videos on an iCloud album. It was INCREDIBLE to not only see everything that was happening, but to hear him narrate why he was doing the things he was doing. I could not get enough of his videos and felt like I was there during the session. On top of Alex's excellent communication, punctuality, reliability, friendliness, competency, and effectiveness, his rates are OUTRAGEOUS in the BEST way! I truly believe he is under-charging for his services. I can get three hours with Alex for less than I paid for one hour with my prior trainer, and I feel much better about the work that is done during that timeframe. I adore Alex, and most importantly, what he is doing works. He really gets into the mind of your dog, and has such a wonderful way of connecting with them and their needs. I am elated to keep our work going - my pup has lots more Small Group Therapy outings in her future and it's wonderful that I have the option to use him one-on-one to teach her even more commands in the house. One day I hope to move on from essential commands to more fun ones, like "roll over" or "go get X toy."

I saw 5 beautiful Rottweiler pups on their website, and when I got to Kimbertal, my heart raced when I saw the cutest and sweetest 12 week old female. I just had to get her for my 13 year old son! She was a standard size pup, and awful cute. They had bigger ones, and some super-sized ones, as well. They also had Dobie pups at various stages of puppyhood. Every one from a champion bloodline, every one a complete sweetheart. Take note, their pups sell out quickly. Kimbertal is known for breeding healthy pups, and this girl had a great appetite, normal thirst, and a wet nose. They gave me some free puppy food, plenty of written instructions about feeding, health, and training. They answered all of our questions too. After picking our pup - which is not easy, they are all so sweet and adorable. We went out for lunch at a nearby diner, while the wonderful people at Kimbertal trimmed our pup's nails and cleaned her up for us to take home. She sat next to me in the car, and for a 2 hour drive, was as good as gold. She sat quietly in the seat next to me, never barking or jumping. She didn't have an accident in the car either. Within a day she was used to walking on a lead, and was using the outdoors to relieve herself. She was such a smart pup, she would come when called, learned to sit, and responded to her name, when called. She learned all this in less than 24 hours. Kimbertal Kennels is most justifiably proud of their dogs' temperament. I can tell you that you will not find friendlier, or gentler dogs of any breed, anywhere. My experience with them stretches over 30 years, and after all this time, there is still no better, no more reliable, no more conscientious breeder, than Kimbertal.

I am relieved to have stumbled upon pet nanny through yelp- what life savers! Its a very affordable service, and they were super accommodating with my last minute situation. They set us up with Megan, a short drive from us, who was willing to stop by daily to check on our two cats. They provide a free app- petwatchman- which is really cool. It tells you with GPS when the petsitter is at your house, and for how long. I looked forward to the updates about what my boys were up to when I was gone- when the app wasnt working for a couple of days as it was being worked on, they made sure to get me Megans number. She texted me daily when she was there and filled me in what the kitties were up to. I have another trip coming up, and my boyfriend travels for work, so we will be needing a pet sitter again. My research has shown that the more vaccines you give your pet the more likely they are to get sick. Be very careful what you give them. Our pets life expectancy are being reduced. Kennel cough vaccine only covers a couple strains. It does not protect against the dozens of others. Usually dogs recover quickly from kennel could. You cannot blame the kennel. They are wonderful there. Keep your dog in your home if you are nervous.

Recently my dog had a life threatening colonic torsion. So we have been apprehensive about boarding him. However we wanted to go on a vacation for 7 days. So we ended up leaving him with Dogtopia. Today, 5 days into vacation, we received a call that our dog was vomiting and had diarrhea. Which is exactly what happened when he had a his colonic torsion. I immediately called and asked them to take him to the emergency vet. Two of the folks went above and beyond to take our dog to the emergency vet, while we were 1200 miles away. They waited with the dog while he was diagnosed, then took him back to the daycare with his discharge instructions. They are now giving him his own room where he can rest and administering his medication along with a rice diet. We quite literally trust this team with our dogs life. So if you are looking for the right place to board or go to daycare, this is your place.
