Was told that they cannot give him a full cut, only a trim because it is his first time with a groomer. After picking him up they said he did great and will be fine next time for a full grooming. Took him back 3 months later for the full grooming, when I picked him up he was only trimmed again. They stated that he was too nervous now and cannot go through with a full grooming but I can bring him back a different day for a different groomer if I like. $62 for a nail filling and trim around the face... no thank you I'm going elsewhere!! read more

Do not go here. I had filled out an adoption application from the Anti-Cruelty Chicago for this kitten that I wanted to adopt, & this was 3 days ago. I found out that this kitten has been transferred to this Wrigleyville location so I called them Wednesday night & asked about the kitten. The woman on the phone said that they closed at 9pm, & it was only 6:30 pm so I went ahead & took a Lyft ride to get over there. As I came into the store, the woman at the register sounded more like she's annoyed, & didn't want to be bothered when I asked her the process of adoption because it's coming from the Anti-Cruelty shelter. She told me go over there by the cat cage & scan the sku code on the paper & my apple from the Anti-Cruelty popped up. I told the woman - hey my application popped up- what's next? She says in a nonchalant speaking words that they will choose who they want to give the kitten too, not the Anti-Cruelty. I would've just ignore it, but she was very unprofessional, & I can say a little rude. To make the story short, there's no communication between the shelter & them & screw those who's wanting to adopt the kitten. Today, 3 days later, I called the store. A man picked up the phone, & I asked him about the kitten. The reason why was because my application said it's still in the "approval" mode. No one called me, no one emailed me. I told the man you all are very unprofessional. Never will step in there or will adopt any pets that's affiliated with Petsmart at Wrigleyville!! read more

I was here to Instacart shop . They were the rudest staff I've ever encountered . I was buying things from the fish area. I found some items but needed help with 2 more items. The stocky guy I approached for help basically said , 'I was in the fish area so whatever is there is what he's got '. Then I watched him interrupt another female employee that was helping someone and said ,'sorry but I really need you to stop and get on this because she's the only one that knows how to do that '. Then I waited another 8-10 minutes to approach another girl while still looking for my items. Once she became available I showed her the aquarium items I was struggling with , like I didn't know some fish food is frozen or where a specific feature landscape item was. After she helped I told her ,'thanks for actually helping me out ' and her reply was , ' yeah well we don't get paid to do your job too.' That's when I was a little concerned like with the customer service of it all and just the overall vibe of the store . I'm sorry to ask you about where to locate , at a pet store , where you work , and know exactly what the product is , for help. So sorry to inconvenience the staff with my question of two items . Then I proceeded to the checkout . And this poor girl was all alone and had this guy asking so many questions on payment method and how it was gonna go through and then we piled up to about 8 of us waiting in line . She kept poking her head around like looking for someone else to come up and do the register to help her out . Even after 15 minutes of this guys checkout complication. This guy was asking about distilled water to buy and had his son save his spot on line while he tried to go and make a new transaction while 8 people are waiting . The girl at the register handled it well and set them aside for a bit while she tried to check out more people. Finally the rude stocky guy decided to come up and assist after all that time. Either way I think from Instacart shopping , that was the worst customer service I've ever seen . Insanely rude . So unhelpful. In the future , like we all got a job to do and you work there and understand the product so if someone asks for help, don't be rude and disrespectful. I go to so many other stores that are busier and more behind on stocking and everything than a PetSmart on halsted, and they all are willing to help out or check on stuff . Do better read more

I usually take my pets to Petco / Vetco. But the Petco near me closed, so I thought I would try Petsmart / ShotVet. DON'T DO IT. In Chicago (Lakeview) , the 5 person team was very unprofessional, showed little regard for my senior Yorkie. She was given a 3 year Rabies and DAHPP (?) - 20 minutes later started gagging and throwing up. And she is having a hard time walking. (They injected her in her back leg - which I have never seen before - it was usually given in the neck. But the DR said no, no.. we never do the neck anymore) Now in the ER waiting to be seen. I should have known within 5 minutes of watching the staff, to not go through with it. She has NEVER had a reaction to shots. The Vetco staff was always attentive and interested in the pets well being. read more

This review is for the groomer Samantha. I had tried multiple groomers in the area and was having a hard time finding a reliable one. They were either inconsistent or took too long (one of them would take 7-8 hours). Finally I decided to give PetSmart a try. My first experience witH PetSmart was not good, the groomer then shaved my dog. But then I gave it another try and found Samantha. She's awesome. She's very patient and listens to your requests and executes them perfectly. My dog mochi has had haircuts from her several times and they have been consistent and looking great!! read more

To start, i don't have a review on the actual store, they actually have a good selection of items. This review is regarding the grooming services. I've been taking my dog to this grooming service for the past 9 months since we've moved to the area and he hasn't really had any issues, other than once defecating while being groomed. My dog has high levels of anxiety and the groomers knew this from his file. In his most recent visit, i was called and told that they were not able to finish his grooming appointment (bath & brush + nail grind) due to his anxiety. I was upset, but not surprised and this isn't why this review is a one star. The reason for this review being a one star is because of when i arrived. I was told that while the groomer tried to grind my dogs nails, that he was so scared that he jumped off the table to run away. Why wasn't he secured in? Why is he on a table this high when you know and i've told you repeatedly that he has high anxiety? I was then told that they were not able to brush him because of him running away, which is fine. i'm not upset about this. So really, he only got a bath, that's it. Lastly, i was told because of this incident, the store manager said that i'm no longer allowed to bring my dog here for grooming because of a safety issue. The safety issue i see here is the groomers not being properly trained with handling all types of dogs. This was the first incident that he's really had, other than a time he was so anxious he defecated while being groomed. I'm hesitant to believe that it was really my dogs fault (i know his anxiety is high, but groomers are supposed to be trained to handle these situations). He has been with other groomers in the past here and has been completely okay. What changed now? Almost forget, they gave me $5 off on the visit when only a 1/3 of the service was completed. If you're unable to perform the service, you should not charge for the service, period. This was my most recent experience at this Petsmart and it will absolutely be my last. It's a biased view because they could have seriously injured my dog with how little knowledge this groomer had on high anxiety dogs. They need to do better in training their groomers with highly anxious dogs and customer service should've stepped up. read more

We took our bernedoodle for his first grooming appointment at Petsmart. The booking process is very simple, but that wasn't even the best part. I was SO nervous taking our little guy in as we love his puppy coat and scared he'd have to be cut so short. Our groomer Kailah did an amazing job, seriously could not look any cuter. I just booked our second one with her and highly recommend. Our pup can be anxious in the bath/dry area, but the crew at this Petsmart location was wonderful. Grooming. I held off on a review but after a third visit in a row I can't anymore. 3 visits ago, my dogs haircut was so messed up. But it was a few months into the pandemic so I said "let's give them a break". The time after that, my dog came out shaking, dried soap in her ears, uneven cut and long patches around her face where it looked like they didn't even cut her. This took them 3 hours. Today I took her in. This is the worst. We originally s heckled for 1/16. On 1/15 they called and said out groomer would not be in and reachueld for 1/17 at 9am. We get there and they were closed. The guy inside opened the door to let us know they open at 10 anf that "we must have made an error when we scheduled at selected 9am". We tried to explain that we didn't schedule it someone called and did. He disregarded it. We waited outside so we were the first ones at 10am. We were 1st. We checked in and he he said they had two 10am openings so it would be fine. He said it will take 2-3 hours. We ran some errands and once the 4 hour time came we decided to just go get our dog. We figured they just forgot to call. When we got there they said they just started finishing up and we're just doing her face. We waited another 30 mins. Basically for a small 17 lb dog it took 4 1/2 hours. This PetSmart is the worst. To make the situation frustrating we saw dogs being picked up who were larger that had been groomed who obvisouly came in after us being picked up. Basically they had no room for my dog and made her sit there until they were ready. read more

Yeah don't bring your dogs here if they have anxiety about nail trims/grooming. Oh and if you have a bully breed, definitely don't because the groomers will be too scared to do their job. A bit ago one of the groomers kindly completed my dogs nail trim and grind. Tattooed with plugs, I don't remember her name. The girl we saw today came out loud and obnoxious, standing over my dog who's obviously anxious. Did half of the trim and when she heard a single growl from my dog she was done. The lady at the register asked the other groomer if she wanted to attempt and she said no, lol. Because she's a Rottweiler? Thanks for not charging me, but probably don't be a dog groomer if you're scared of bully breeds. read more

I've been coming to this place since I rescued my dog April 2015. Their staff is always friendly and helpful, I've never had a bad experience and have been here at least twice a month to get all my dog's stuff; treats, food, dog beds, toys, leashes & collars, travel seatbelt & carrier, home grooming products, etc... Not to mention my dog actually walks me to this store if we are on the usual route that takes him there. Groomers here are all great at what they do and patient with skiddish dogs. I usually walk-in and do not make an appointment and they can take us within 15 min or less. We usually just go for nail trim and quick touch up on paw and undercarriage hair. My dog hasn't been the best customer since we rescued him bcuz he nips and was not friendly but now he's used to his monthly trim. They have a newer groomer to the store, David, and he did such a great job this time! I sincerely recommend going to him. My dog is skittish and nips but he did not with David. He was patient and detailed and has done the best job with Alfie's summer trim! This store has a variety selection offered for dogs, cats, birds, fish, etc: food (we buy simply nourish), treats galore, toys, home grooming products and always great specials. read more

They turned me away for a nail grind 20 minutes before closing because they "didn't have any availability" even though there wasn't a single dog or cat there. And a nail grind takes about 5 minutes. When I questioned the girl working, she was very short and rude so I told her she lost a customer to the nearby Petco. She responded by telling me she didn't care. I have taken my pup to be groomed here before but after our recent visit, we will never go back again. They cut our dog's hair so short all over. Way shorter than what we discussed. Additionally, they cut her hair so short near her private parts that they caused two, extremely large, enflamed bumps on either side of her vagina (sorry for being so explicit but they seriously caused injury). My pup is traumatized. She keeps running to her cage to hide, she doesn't want to go for walks, and clearly is in much pain. I had to go to our vet because this was clearly not normal and I had to make sure she was going to be okay. They gave her a cream to help bring down the inflammation. But this could take a month to heal and she's still in pain in the meantime. Not okay! read more

Ripley my cocker spaniel loves to go to this Petsmart for his grooming. His wavy hair can be incredibly unruly, matted, and uncomfortable in the summer, so he goes for a complete shave down (level 7). Drop off takes less than five minutes, they validate parking for the structure next door, and they'll email and call you when your dog is ready (2-4 hours). Always a great experience and there is usually a perks coupon for $10.00 off that they'll send to you as well. Love this place. read more

I've taken my puppy here several times for just a puppy bath and nail trimming. They do a good job with the bath. Puppy smells clean and they do good getting the fur around his paws clean. Took two stars off because this last time, they charged me for some "chi package" that doubled what I normally pay. They didn't ask if I wanted this and they didn't explain what it was. Just some special shampoo or something. I never asked for it and they basically doubled what I was expecting to pay. I questioned it and they acted like it was not big deal. Really strange. I'll probably still go back for the bath but I'll make sure to know what I'm Paying for. Update: the staff has always done a great job since my first review. This Pet Smart location is fantastic. They know my dog by name and seem to have memorized her habits. For example, my dog does not like leaving this store. She lays down and refuses to move. There have been times when the very kind staff has shown her a treat and lead her out the door so that we could head home! They're so good that my dog walks her dog walkers there because she knows it as a happy place. In terms of logistics, it is small but they have all the necessary items. There is a good selection of food, treats, and toys and some stuff for smaller pets. They have a machine to make tags and a LOT of collars and leashes to choose from. They even have a doggie ice cream macine (my dog's favorite). There is rarely a wait time here. If they see a line forming at the register another team member comes over to help out right away. The grooming staff is professional and very good with my dog. This location is really doing it right. From the products they have to the customer service they make owning a dog in this neighborhood so much easier. read more

Best Groomer EVER works here! We have a senior dog who's not in the best of health and not the easiest dog in the world to get groomed. Nicole works her magic with our dog and she's the only person in the city that our dog will allow groom her. Candy always looks like a show dog after Nicole is done grooming her. Be sure to make an appointment with Nicole if you want your dog to have the best haircut in town with having the best care along with it. So I have lived here by this Petsmart for three years and have used them several times. There is always something they do that aggravates me and today was my last straw. I just spent over $60 for each dog and included top dog treatment and they came out with no bandanas and I asked if I could have one of the holiday bandanas please and they say"not for the package you purchased today...!" I called John the manager and he took the story to another level that my roommate and I were looking at each other like what its he talking about ! I brought my dog here to check it out while in the area, and am very disappointed in the attitude of the staff. I even told them I was excited about their new store. No reaction, A blank stare was what I got back. My dog was totally ignored, staff extremely disinterested. No enthusiasm. I felt sorry for my dog. At other pet smarts, the employees always make a fuss over her, give her treats, and here the staff had absolutely no engagement with her or myself. Not even a smile from them, or eye contact. I did not feel welcomed here or excited to be there. They begrudgingly gave me a treat to give my dog at checkout. If your going to work in a dog store then you cannot ignore the customer and their pet. Pet smart needs to fire these girls, I won't be back.I always clean up my dogs pee if she pees in a store. Working in customer service myself, I have very low expectations when I enter a retail establishment. I understand how stressful it can be to deal with people who, in most cases, tend to think that you a below them in some way. That being said, I struggle to find a reason/excuse for the service I received each of the three times I made a purchase at this particular Pet's Mart. The staff treats any question as an interruption, and any interruption as inexcusable. This may be the most unique store in Chicago, for the customers have to earn the trust and respect of the employees and not the other way around. I would only recommend this store if you share the same condescending qualities the staff holds dear. read more
