Be warned- they sell fish with ich and are then apathetic when told that there fish issue caused us to lose our long established fish tank population. Looks like maybe their fish tanks share water and they don't spend any time quarantining new fish to determine if there is a problem was very sad to lose our 7 to 10 year-old fish population if you buy fish here, I would suggest quarantining them for two or three weeks before adding them to your tank. I also think the apathy of employees reflects how much they care about delivering good products to their customers, so when the employees don't give any indication of caring, they are probably not maintaining their tanks or caring about selling fish that a re e diseased. . If you're like me and shop with the "get in, get what I need, and get out" attitude, this store is for you. They are well stocked, and the layout is very straightforward with organized shelves. Cashiers are efficient and also quite friendly. You'll be in and out in no time. However, if you're someone who likes to browse and ask for assistance or general information of someone, you may find yourself disappointed. As a former employee of petsmart, I know how much the company LOVES cutting payroll, and this location seems pretty impacted by it. I've been in there several times where the floor was just the cashier and the manager on duty. The employees here are such nice, welcoming people. I go here all of the time, and contrary to other reviews, found the staff to be incredibly kind and helpful! There's a store closer to me, but I only go to this one: it's clean, well-stocked, and reliable, and I couldn't recommend it more. I have yet to try out the grooming salon, but the trainer here is very kind and clearly loves what she does. This review is for the GROOMING salon. Had a small dog get a haircut and nails trimmed. Her haircut is choppy but that's not what has angered me. The person who cut my dogs nails trimmed TOO CLOSE on her claw and got to the quick and her paw is BLOODY and she is in pain. Have to take her to the vet. She never informed me that she did this, I had to inspect her claws and when I saw that bloody mess, I was beyond mad. Never trust your beloved pets to these people. They are dangerous, and not trained in cutting nails at all. Never again. read more

My dog hates water and is very stubborn, mind you he is 80 pounds. His nails also grow super long. We have taken him to Olivia and she does an amazing job. I recommend PetSmart for grooming and Olivia - all of the staff is also very sweet as well. read more

Manager of this store is RUDE!!! Even when there is literally no issue or situation at hand, just speaking to her AT ALL... RUDE! Every single time I have ever spoken to her, she just has ZERO personality and comes off harsh and RUDE. She should not be managing people or dealing with the public. Most of her employees (except the Vet and grooming staff) follow her lead and are rude and in accommodating. Go to the Merchants Walk store if you can - super nice folks!! After thinking hard about adopting a new cat, an adult cat I saw a couple of times at the local PetSmart, I decided to take the plunge. So I went in to get him--only to be told no, I had to make an appointment for later in the week. WHAT? I'm sure there's some reason for it, but what a foolish policy. My mom and I came to PetSmart to adopt 2 rats. Not only did they lose 1, but they completely traumatized both of the rats. The one that got loose is so horrified of humans, she runs and hides immediately. While the other one gets very defensive and tries to bite my mom and I. The things that the youngest associate said and did scarred the young rats for life. For example, my mom who is a vet tech tried to help with the situation, since she's dealt with these types of situations before many times. The young associate first dismissed her and acted like my mom was stupid. Then when she finally took the advice my mom gave about using a net to catch the rat, she began to bang the net on the ground creating a very loud noise. That not only scared me, but most of the other animals in the store. And for the rat I named Estella, she is now terrified of humans bc of the abuse she was put through. And just those 2 things I mentioned are not even the half of it. I could write an entire essay on how this one specific employee ruined not only my day, caused a scene and possibly gave both of my new rats PTSD. The only reason I'm not saying "if I could give this a 0 star I would" is because the manager not only got Estella quick and safely after everything the employee did, but he also tried his best to expedite the situation. read more

The groomers here are rude, and took dog in for grooming and since I complain they wouldn't groom my dog. This grooming group is the worst. I been going there for 8 years. I have never been as upset as I was today. The store manger was trying to resolve the problem, but they would not groom him. So I say don't go there, get another grooming place as I'm doing. I would go with 0 stars if possible. lazy employees , not willing to perform simple tasks to insure clients are even remotely satisfied , noncompliant , argumentative ..... Last Thursday evening I was hoping to get a new cat , I approached the two employees at the front register who were doing absolutely nothing but goofing off , texting , and talking to each other , the time was 8:20 The one employee spoke up and said it's too late to show a cat as we close at 9 , keep in mind they were performing no tasks at this time . I said well guys it will only take like three minutes to let me look at this one cat , there was also no signage indicating any rules referencing what I was being told . I was then told they only show cats to people that want to adopt them , so I stated , I don't know if I want to adopt the cat until I hold it in my arms check its personality and see if it likes me , seems reasonable to me , I was then told getting the cats in and out of the cage is stressful for the cats , can you see where this is going , they simply didn't want to do their jobs and this is sad...... I sympathize with employers , you just can't hire people that have that old school dedication , as a person that has been in retail since 1980 it's very frustrating to be exposed to this national trend . In closing let me say I can promise you those two could care less if I spent any money at this location, in fact I would go as far as to say they could not wait for me to leave . Ok... I'll say it... I spend a TON of time in PetSmart. That is what happens when you have a dog that you take everywhere. And guess what... I'm ok with it. PetSmart is a great place to take the pup to stretch their legs when the weather isn't great outside. It is also a good place to practice being around other people. There is plenty of pawsitive reinforcement in the way of treats and samples. They have plenty of adoption events to help match shelter animals with a loving family. Our pup Cash recently graduated from Puppy Class. Our trainer Curt did a great job with all of the dogs in the class. He was knowledgeable and had a great disposition while working with both the dogs and the owners. Cash will be starting Intermediate class with Curt in a few weeks. We managed to take Cash for grooming salon walk throughs in order to help with the anxiety. We had a puppy cut and just last week had his first hair cut. Both Larissa and Deanna did a great job with him. I'm sure he was super squirmy. Overall, we enjoy the local PetSmart on the north end of town. It's an added benefit that there is a Banfield Vet clinic in the store. read more

I originally came to Petsmart because I wanted to start an aquarium, but I didn't know anything about fish. The associates there were very helpful! I chose my fresh, went home and started on my aqua journey! Fast forward a few days a couple of my fish didn't make it. I wasn't sure if it was my aquarium, parameters, stress or what. I return to the store and they replace the fish no problem at all. A few days after that I lost another fish at this point I was beginning to wonder if there was something wrong with my water but I went back to return the fish and they replaced it. no questions asked and then let me know that they do also provide water testing. this time I put my fish in again lost a couple of them so I decided to bring in a sample of the water. Today I worked with Courtney. She was absolutely fantastic. She spent about an hour of her time with me helping me figure out what could be wrong with my tank. She tested my water and then replaced all of my fish. She was very knowledgeable and didn't make me feel like I was murdering my pets she gave me lots of helpful advice, and I did not feel rushed. She answered all of my questions and was really nice to work with. I would definitely recommend them if you are looking for someone to spend time with you answering all of your questions. I really appreciated her kindness and help today! Petsmart give Courtney a raise. This girl was fantastic! read more

This has nothing to do with Covid . I called this store and pressed the number for adoptions, thinking I would be talking to someone that specifically handles adoptions . I asked what type of cats and kittens did they have in store as I was driving quite a distance . I was rudely told that she didn't have time to give me that information and that they had plenty I should just come and look . Her attitude put me off right away but I really wanted a new kitten . My husband recently passed and I'm new in the state and alone . I would have been a great parent for a new kitty , plus I had fostered many animals so I knew they needed homes . When I finally got there I went and spent about ten minutes looking at the kittens snd even had a conversation with the women that fostered them ! When I finally went to the front to ask if I could hold one in particular, the clerk was rude and sharp with me saying no , I may not . I have to make an appointment. I asked her why she didn't bring that up when I called . I asked for the manager . She was just as rude and as she was walking away from just telling me no , in a way she came across as inconvenienced . She had the audacity to say in a smart a.. way . You have a good day . When she knew I wasn't happy about the situation. No apology from her or the person who answered the phone . I have been buying at Petsmart since they opened back in minnesota. Signed my 4 mo. Old puppy up from beginners training and when we got there were told we could not participate because of my dogs breed. I have a Native American Indian Dog, which they said due to store policy she could not be trained because she is a "wolf dog". First of all clearly for a pet store they do not know much about dog breeds and showed no interest in actually researching to this particular breed. They stated it was because they "react differently, more agressive" which is not true. In fact my pup is scared of most things and is a big cuddler because that's when she feels safe. She is great with people and is learning to be a therapy dog. What I hoped to get from this course was for my 11 year old daughter to learn how to train her new puppy as this is her first dog and is not sure how to communicate with her yet, was hoping she would gain confidence in training her. Lady was at the door and wouldn't let me get food for my animal bc they just were closing. i told her I would give just cash so it wouldn't mess with the register, and she still said no. I just moved to Virginia recently and I wanted to get a new pet, but my landlord doesn't allow pets. I stopped by the other day, looking for something different. A saleswoman named Kim helped me out with finding something REALLY cool! I bought 12 fish for a 36 gallon tank and I couldn't be happier! I'm so happy that she could help me out with stuff! Went into to have dog's nails trimmed. The grooming area was busy, but they had plenty of employees so the wait was not too long. The groomer handled and treated my dogs professionally. They did very good work. Then purchased new dog tags which a laser machine creates. The unit was quick and self explanatory. The dog tags look very good. Visited this store and was happy with how friendly the staff was, they helped me find a new food for my dogs that has worked great for them and my vet highly approves of. Few months after switching me to this food they stop carrying it. I adopted a rescue dog that was having issues and needed diapers, I came in so many times to them being sold out and always an excuse but few weeks later still none. Other items I needed for a sick rescue cat and just this and that they never have in stock. I kept trying to give them more chances and finally as nice as I could told the workers I just couldn't visit this site anymore always leaving frustrated and not having what I needed. My two doodles have been coming here for a couple years. Their haircuts always look nice and they are happy every time they return. However, lately I have been noticing my doodles are extremely dehydrated when I pick them up. I don't think they are getting any water during their 4 hour appointment. I told my daughter not to worry about the dirty clothes; we were working with her horse. Well, the manager came over and she looked my daughter up and down and made us feel very uncomfortable. Super irritated. I've had bad and decent experiences at this Petsmart before, but I'm extremely upset with the way I was treated today in the grooming salon. They had two dogs in the waiting area and I was standing in the corner waiting to be waited on while another customer was checking out. I had my dog fully under control and was holding her right beside my legs. Then I was told that the waiting area was too crowded and basically got kicked out. Even though the people he was taking care of were literally checking out and walked out right behind me leaving no dogs in the waiting area. I proceeded to do as told, and waited on the benches outside. And not one person bothered to let me know when I was 'allowed' back in the grooming salon. Instead, other customers continued to enter the waiting area and get checked in while I waited outside like I was told to do. I don't care what policy is - if you're so overwhelmed by just a few and animals and can't handle the amount of customers coming in, then you better make sure that when you ask them to leave because it's 'too crowded' you make sure they're waited on as soon as possible. So rude and a waste of my time. NEVER using this grooming salon again. I refuse to be treated with such disrespect again. read more
