They were putting electricity into the building when I arrived to pick my dog up, it didn't seem that they had any warmth while he was there and the temps were below freezing. Terrible experience.

Watching this…read more"trainer" shock the heck out of these two dogs, telling them to "sit" but using no body language to indicate what she actually wanted. We sat chatting and listening to them yelp in pain, not understanding what it was she wanted- I watched her shock this dog 5x within a 30 second span as she called out "sit". Dogs do not speak English, so giving a physical command (a fist held over head, a palm held over their head) is one of the most basic rules of training a dog. I'm not sure what, if any, training you give these people but WOW. My fiancé and I went into the building because I knew if I heard the dog cry out one more time while watching the collar flash over and over (indicating repeated shocks) that I was going to lose my cool. Try POSITIVE training. Or at least using body language. Not just shocking a dog until you get the result you want. Absolutely INFURIATING. If you want your pet to go through fear/pain induced training, call OFF LEASH! They'll shock your pet into shape!

There are levels of training - even if your dog is already good with basic commands, she can get him/her and you to the next level. I have a rescue who had a number of behavior problems (jumping, nipping, uncontrolled enthusiasm) - much of this is related to his age, but Virginia gave us tools that reduced and even eliminated his poor behavior. Training approach - Rewards-based (although there are alternative methods she will work with you on if you'd like) Technique - Praise / non-responsive to poor behavior (no military-style approach!) Responsiveness & Availability - Any question I had I was able to ask her either during the training session or in follow up (email or phone). Virginia's goal was to ensure we were getting the behavior we wanted to see. Whenever I had to reschedule a training session, she was very flexible and understanding. Overall character - Virginia is someone I'd love to call a friend - she is warm and friendly and is kind and consistent with everyone! I'd though my children (both 9) would be 'in the way', however, Virginia included them in the training sessions and it was great! My daughter became very skilled in training our Ivan. Virginia is very gentle with everyone and has a refreshingly open view of living with dogs. Follow-up - Virginia always followed up after each training session to ask if there were questions. She provided detailed reference for us that we could review and more deeply understand the 'why' of the training. She did explain everything during the training, but it was very helpful to have written material to refer to afterwards.

No disrespect to the fine vets who work there, but I just can't afford the bills anymore. Even routine visits produce budget busting tabs, and I'm not a poor person. 2 motion sickness tablets? $52. That's not a typo. My advice? Go to privateequityvet.org to find vet owned clinics that have more leeway on prices.

We had a lot of interactions with the School of Vet Medicine at VA Tech and were referred to RAH. Dr. Odom has been wonderful with our two puppies. They love the attention they receive from the staff. They listen to our concerns and are great communicators. They are currently doing Curbside Service. They come out and pick up your pet for their exam. Once in the room the Dr. calls and goes over the exam. Payment is taken over the phone. During an appointment this week the temps outside were 95+. The clinic brought waters to the customers in their cars. It included information such as WiFi password to help pass the time. I thought it was a great gesture. If you are looking for a vet on the north side of Charlottesville or Ruckersville, RAH should be considered.

Her rates for overnight stays were completely reasonable, and honestly, with the amount of care given to our animals, she could justifiably charge much more. She sent updates, with pictures, several times a day, made sure we knew everything that had been going on from the moment we left town, to the moment she arrived at our place to take care of our family. She's nothing but professional, and even put our bed sheets in the washer, and washed out the dogs food and water bowls before leaving. She's absolutely magnificent with animals, and I know for a fact, we'll be asking her to come back again the next time we leave town.
