We loved the in home training. We wanted to be hands on every week with our boy Brock. The tools they gave us have helped tremendously. They also saw we needed some extra help because our boy is high energy and had some behavior issues so they gave that to us. Not only did we work in our home but also took trips to parks and Lowe's to work on behavior. We recently joined in our first pack walk, which is included upon graduation. We were so proud of our "Brock". Several months ago we wouldn't have been able to do this. We still train everyday to keep up his lessons. A very special thank you to Morgan who was our one on one trainer every week. She was so knowledgeable and fantastic, as were Alyssa, Olivia and Kaylee who have also helped. I highly recommend training with Alans K9 Academy if you want great results. We will be referring them to everyone. Brocks Family

The training not only reduced his reactivity but also gave me practical strategies to manage his overall anxiety. When we first met Alisha, some of my goals for my recently rescued pup was to be able to go in public settings (farmers markets, festivals, breweries, going for walks in the neighborhood, etc). Kallie now does ALL of the above without causing a ruckus (no reactivity/barking/jumping) towards other dogs or humans. We get so many compliments on her manners and people don't even know she is there unless you see her. She even does 5Ks with me now! Alisha works to help you and your pup truly communicate effectively and understand each other. (Photo tax of my adorable Kallie when we were introducing a kayak)

I can't say enough good things about our dog trainer, Justin Perry. I have nothing bad to say and…read morewhat I do have to say is all true. We searched the internet for a dog trainer and met several before we chose Justin. We weren't sure how our pup Luna (short for "Lunatic") would react as she is not a friendly dog and is wary of strangers, males and kids but she had no issues with Justin at all. We have numerous dog problems; Luna is an alpha, not social, barks all the time and needs a lot of work. Justin started with the basics and had her walking on a leash (which was difficult to do before Justin started with her) and is working with her on all basic skills. To our friends I refer to Justin as a "dog whisperer" (I have never told him that to his face but it's true). Justin is very quiet at first but he knows what he's doing. He has never raised his voice to her and Luna seems to understand what Justin wants her to do. Justin gives lots of tips for pets and owners and he helped us understand Luna's actions better. Luna even looks forward to his visits. We have definitely recognized improved social skills with Luna in just a short period of time. I would definitely recommend Justin as a dog trainer and we will be calling on him for other issues as they arise.

Because we are all looking for different things I'm simply sharing a pro's and cons list from our (my and Little Leo) perspective. Pros, for us - Super kind people! Just down right nice people! - Nurturing - We've known our trainers for a full year and we really feel like part of the family! They are truly the best! Cons, for us - Calendar - I didn't ask for a holiday calendar and was surprised to learn group was often cancelled for holidays that aren't observed federally, in schools, etc. For example Sunday, 10/28 was cancelled because Halloween was Tuesday, 10/31. - Timeliness - I learned an unwritten rule is to wait until all instructors are present and a majority of that class sign up. Most of the time this is 15 to 20 minutes past start time. As a result, you're either waiting up to 20 minutes or late if others are on time. - Weather - I didn't ask what the inclement weather policy is. I suggested having make up days or even an inclement weather plan like meeting in a mixed use facility or school which come at no cost. Too bad there is lots of rain in the summer months that cause cancellations. - Communication - We understand things happen. We just expect more direct, proactive communication. For example, if trainers are running late to group, a text to all sharing that would be most appreciated by many. My recommendation would be to ask the right questions, be really clear, and get things in writing. For example, the group would take trips to the airport and work with the airline to get our pups in training through security and to the gate. I later learned is not a service available since COVID. I really wise I'd have known that they were just sharing components of the program in 2019. For us, each of the cons, commensurate with the price, won't allow me to recommend for others and we won't use them again for obedience training or me next service animal. I am certain this style works for many, and I'm sure it would exceed the expectations of some. They really are a wonderful group of people! Thank you so much Natasha, Reina, & Sable! You'll forever be in our hearts! Can't wait to see you at group next Sunday!

We…read morefocus on positive reinforcement paired with a personalized, in-home approach. This will empower you as the owner to be an integral part of the process for sustained dog obedience training in Atlanta. Our approach is based on positive reinforcement. You may have heard it called "Classical Conditioning" or the "Pavlovian" model. Research has shown positive reinforcement to be more effective with longer lasting results than other training methods. We help you and your dog achieve sustained, deep-rooted obedience. We use positive dog training in Atlanta based on the classical conditioning theory, paired with an electronic collar-- this is not a shock collar. Unlike a shock collar, an electronic collar does not hurt or harm the dog and is used to obtain a dog's attention. We believe in using ongoing praise to encourage good behavior. The difference becomes clear when comparing a dog that is trained using treats to bribe vs a dog who truly desires to please from the inside out. Dog Training Elite is veteran owned and operated. We specialize in obedience, service, and therapy dog training. We are partnered with the Malinois Foundation that provides service dogs to veterans to aid with PTSD and other service needs. I put a lot of thought into choosing a trainer. I read up on the different methods and…read moreorganizations out there. I figured this isn't something you want to half ass, your dog's welfare depends on this kind of thing. I spoke with many different trainers about their education, experience and affiliations before I found Anna. We spoke on the phone and she told me about her education (studied at a university in Canada), her experience (over a decade training dogs even though she looks kinda young), and her affiliations, (APDT, Pet Professionals Guild and AKC CGC certified). I was pretty intrigued at this point so I asked her about her methods, she told me that she's a "fan of the clicker" and then right off the bat told me how it works and what studies have been done on it. Since I didn't ask her for that information, I was pretty impressed that she volunteered it. Girl after my own heart. We arranged a meeting so she could do an assessment, which she assured me was free. When she arrived at my place a week later, I was a little skeptical, she's as skinny as a reed and looks like a stiff breeze would blow her over. I have an American Staffordshire Terrier who weighed 60lbs, I thought there would be no way she could handle her. When I mentioned my concerns (I phrased it more politely than I just put it, of course) she told me "no worries." She said that "real leaders lead from behind." And that "anytime you find yourself using force against a dog, your doing it wrong." I don't know why, but that stuck with me. Cut to 4 weeks later and Peewee is doing great! We still have a lot left to do, we're only half way through the program, but Anna's a fountain of knowledge. It's amazing what I've learned so far.

I've parented/known many rescues in the past and never seen anything like the fear she exhibited. fully freaked out, I shot a message to Atlanta Dog Wizard with an SOS to help.
