I saw an aquarium on the app and decided to come in and pick it up, the lady at the front cash was very nice and polite and was just overall enjoyable to talk to , but one employee tried to sell me a cracked tank. the guy said "it's just silicone" when I told him, so I ran my nail over one piece and it came off easily, I tried the second piece and it wouldn't budge. It felt like a crack instead of sticking out, so I told him I'd rather be safe than sorry and he said "it's just silicons but whatever" and got a different one. If it was for a land animal I wouldn't have minded but it's a 75 gallon aquarium that's going to be full of water and I don't want that on my floor. read more

I had been taking my dogs there for years and never had an issue until I called to make an appointment for my senior dog a few days ago. I took her April 12 for a cut and bath, when I picked her they said everything was great, no issues. I called 2 months later and was told she was no longer welcome there because of seizures. I have seen her have one, I never said she had them and if something happened when she there I was not told. No one had the decency or the balls to tell me to my face. I had to wait until she was ready to go back again. I was bringing 2 dogs, 1 passed away, and was going to start bringing a new generation of pups but I will be looking elsewhere. read more

Some of the groomers seem to care more about grooming as fast as they can instead of how the dogs is feeling. I find some groomers are very unempathetic to the dogs feelings and just push on with what they need to get done. I have gone there a few times to get my dogs nails trimmed and been disappointed as how fast its done, that they don't take the time to be loving to the animals and I wonder if they did a good job. They seems to just want to get it out of the way. No tenderness or loving way toward the pets. On one occasion when I was there, the goomer was so intent on getting the job done on one pet, she was rough with him. I really felt for that dog cause it couldn't speak for itself. She seemed on a mission to get him done and stressed. I was really concerned and brought it up with her, and I was put in my place. I notice now that there is a privacy film up now so you can't see whats going on in there. I would not recommend anyone taking there dogs there for grooming. There should be a live streaming video on so they know they are being watched and owners can see how their dog is being treated. Pets can't talk. I would not trust this company. The staff are nice and friendly. They seem to have a large selection of pet products, and animals. Unfortunately, I don't believe they care for their critters, and many of the products they sell reflect this as well. Hermit crabs, for example, require levels of humidity from 70% - 80%. This store keeps the hermit crabs at 60% humidity, and a temperature far too low for them as well. They have no substrate to burrow in, and many seem to have mites as well. Furthermore, this store sells zoo-med products for reptiles, including "hermit crab salt-water" which contains 'yellow dye' and other ridiculous ingredients that are absolutely unnecessary and potentially harmful to the crabs. On that topic, they also sell 'glow in the dark' kits for hermit crabs, painted shells, and calci-sand, all of which will definitely kill the crabs. When I asked an employee about calci-sand for hermit crabs, they responded that it was definitely okay for the crabs and that they love it. That is just a pitiful deception, calci-sand will impact the crabs digestive system. Speaking of digestive systems, PetSmart sells hermit crab food in 'pellet' form. All of these recommended pellet foods contain ethoxyquin or copper sulfate, which are toxic to hermit crabs as well. And all of that is only related to hermit crabs. When I bought my crab from this store, I practically rescued it from a certain slow death. Can you really trust these people to sell safe items for your pet? Had they actually done the slightest bit of research, they would know all of this information about hermit crabs at least, yet they continue to spread misinformation, lie, and practically murder these critters. Also, when you buy your pet, no matter the conditions they were kept in, you are forced to sign a waiver that basically states whatever happens to your pet is your fault, and no blame can be on the store. Unfortunately, my friend who also has hermit crabs, had their critters die from a disease contracted in the PetSmarts dry, pathetic enclosures. It was not their fault. Do not trust this company, it is composed of either ignorant salespeople who know little, and care even less about your pets and their health, or they are just flat out misinformationists, and liars. They deserve to be bankrupted from lawsuits. Your pets deserve better. read more

We went here for a year, getting our dog groomed her every couple of months..the last time we went it was a different group of groomers. Two young women, when I went to pick my dog up they were sitting in the area playing on their phones, I asked if my dog was ready the girl said no He is still tied up under the dryer, and she stated that he was difficult to wash because he didn't like water. I asked her to bring my dog to me, when she did he was shaking and whining, something that had never happened before. He yelped and tried to jump the counter to get to me.. I come in here a lot - and not once have I ever NOT been greeted with a hello. Love. It is never too busy, a til will be opened up if there is a line and I just adore seeing all the doggies that are allowed to come into the store as if they were family. What prompted my review today is in regards to something that I have never done before - left my credit card behind in the card reader. Easy enough to do I guess these days but what happened today is that the girl in the check out behind me had some fascinating huge blue worms that were her pet bearded dragon`s dinner. Creepy and super cool at the same time. So, I lost my thoughts for a bit, left my Visa behind and thankfully went to a store not too far away where I was making another purchase and needed my card. I called Petsmart and thankfully Megan had locked my card safely away. Beacon Hill is awesome. The parking lots are a maze-fest but the stores are great and so are the people working in them. Horrible service and horrible management. Took my 6 month old puppy in for a haircut, asked them to only trim him because I prefer him fluffy, the groomer said he understood and even suggested only cutting his face but i wanted a tiny bit taken off the body. When I came back they had completely shaved him so he had no hair, when I complained they said he was difficult. He is only 5 pounds so he couldn't be that hard to deal with and I don't understand why he would be shaved because of this?? Groomer was adam and he did a horrible job, his face was completely uneven I had to fix it at home. I called to let the manager know about what happened and how rude his workers were and the manager was just as rude. Will not be back and suggest you find somewhere else to take your dog. my puppy was very terrified when he came home and he's only 6 months! This Petsmart is good as far as the franchise goes - they have good sales - prices are reasonable - the store is always tidy, well stocked and staffed well. The staff do seem to genuinely want to help though - and in terms of customer service, they do seem to want to put that first and foremost. Where they sometimes have issues though is the check out process. It can sometimes be painfully slow. Some of the folks who work there LOVE to talk to you. Like LOVE to TALK - and dont pick up on the cues that you want to pay and get the heck out of there. Others seem to have issues with the cash register, or how to process returns. I am not sure if that is because there is high turnover or what ( the training on the cash) but sometimes checkout can be hell. Bringing my dog in there can be interesting - so many smells - I loved the ironic moment when my dog peed on the puppy training pad display. Luckily they have cleaning wipes and stations and are very good about it. They do have just about everything you need from collars to food to litter boxes to grooming to fishtanks. So I don't go here for food anymore. I go here for the great variety of dog toys and treats they have. There is a great selection of natural treats, my favorite is the apple ones they carry. There is a whole isle of bones and raw hide chews. There is a whole isle of toys, the beanie baby ones are great quality, my dog loves them! They have a great selection of leashes, kennels and beds. All their prices are better than other big pet stores I have been to. I got a great quality kennel here for $300, which seemed expensive, but it was cheaper than other stores! My dog won't even let me comb or cut his hair, or even get the goop out of his eyes. When I picked him up he looked exactly how I wanted him to. When I returned home to Calgary, I went to the Petsmart in Beacon Hill, and OMG the staff here are so friendly and so helpful. They helped me with ideas to help him eat and different food veriations. Lets just say I found 4 different kinds of food he loves and I will continue to buy him this food from this location. They know what they are talking about and they are not just trying to push product on you, especially when they have reps in for a brand, these reps are even willing to walk around the store with you and help you. I always took my little shihtzu to Sunridge location since he was 10 weeks he is now 18 month always were happy till month if May when I took him there were new people I asked them to do everything the same except to groom the face a bit "then showed with my hand " shorter when I went to pick him they shaved his face through the skin I started crying he was shaking and their manager said you better hurry and pay as we are closed and you are holding the employees overtime which they don't get paid I have never been treated anywhere this way my boy got infection on his face and we had to remove a art of his skin to cure the face and he was wearing a cone for a month called the store to find a store manager 4 times did not hear nothing called the Assistant Store Manager he said o am making a big deal bring your vet bill we send it to head office it has been 2 month no resolution. I've been taking my dog Russell to different Petsmart locations for grooming for 5 years now. I made an appointment for my dog at 4pm this Sunday it usually takes 1-1:30 hour to have my dog ready at must 2 hours. I was there at 3:50 and the groomer Adam said he was gonna try to have him sooner... so I didn't go home I just stocked around with my toddler and 2 months old baby. I was back at the store at 6pm he wasn't still ready the guy was still dealing with his 3PM APPOINTMENT I had to take my dog home as he was as I could not wait any with my 2 kids... the manager came in to release my dog didn't even apologize for the inconvenience just said that they asked for 3 hours for a dog to be groomed (something that i had never been told before in my life). Still had to pay $100 for a husky that wasn't even brushed. The owner that was also there of the 3pm appointment was also mad and basically blaming me because he had to stop finishing her dog to look for the manager... worst experience ever!!! I had the worst experience at a retail outlet in my life. I had booked an appointment several weeks in advance, I have a puppy and I was to provide the rabies paperwork, I had forgotten it at home and it would have been a 15 minute delay in the appointment for me to get it from home where i left it.They would not accommodate me at all, I was very upset, I had taken the day off work to manage this appointment. I expressed my frusteration at the lack of flexibility, I had taken my previous dog there for years and they were always helpful. Grooming at Petsmart, Beacon Hill is the worst. Everytime I've taken my granddaughter's small pet in for grooming, he comes out with the worst results. Despite being told otherwise...His fur is extremely short, we could almost see his pink skin. His genitals are exposed and his head looks like a peanut. She says, "He looks ugly". I have brought dogs for grooming in petsmart USA and never faced such issues. Groomers there were very friendly and good to dogs with great knowledge and training in how to handle even difficult dogs. The groomers in the NW beacon hill petsmart are not working for passion with the pets and are pushing off the dogs as not well behaved, they are coming to work for the sake of coming and it is seen when u interact with them. They don't receive the dog lovingly as well so it explains why the dogs might be not cooperating with them well . Through the course he learned to sit, stay, lie down, love things alone, walk on a leash and meet other dogs. I love the fact that they sell crickets in bulk priced on an individual basis. Crickets I buy from this store are always healthy and death rate is normally minimal. Unbelievably bad service, my wife has been taking our dog there to get groomed for years, this time I volunteered to drop the dog off. When I first arrived a young lady greeted me promptly and informed me that the assigned groomer would be with me in a minute. After 15 minutes standing in the corner listening to a pair of the groomers discussing art supplies and where to buy them (5 groomers were present, only 2 dogs were being worked on) I finally asked the artist with green hair if I could just drop the dog off and she could wait for the other groomer to arrive. His response was to pick up the phone (after I'd asked the question) and informed me that he just had to make a few phone calls, at this point I left. (had to count to ten, as I was annoyed at this point) I called to speak with the manager and was informed that he wouldn't be there until next week, so I called the front desk and asked them for the manager and was connected with him promptly. So not only do these people not care about customer service at all they will blatantly lie to you if they think they have made an error. I will never use this place again and hope that others who choose to do so have a much better experience than I have. read more

This review is for the grooming service. I was shopping in the store when I heard yelling. I turned my head to see an older female groomer yelling and roughly handling a little dog. The groomer was trying to put the dog's head in the loop thingy so she could cut the dog's hair, I'm assuming. The little dog was a little wet from her bath and shaking. I could read the groomer's lips and she said "jesus fcuking christ". The kept picking up the little dog roughly and trying to put the loop over the dog's head. The little dog was shaking so much that I started walking towards the window. That was then groomer looked up at saw me watching her. She groomer seemed to take a deep breath then she gently removed the loop from the little dog's neck, picked up the dog gently and took her into a room with a door. I couldn't see anything after that. I left the store without saying anything to the customer service person because I didn't think the man would do anything. I took my dog Clifford in to get groomed. While I was signing my dog in I heard a dog yelp several times while the groomer clipped his/her nails. There was blood on the table, this proves that she cut the quick, 3 times on the same dog. The groomer kept going and didn't even care about what she did. I then decided to stay and watch my dog (with a different groomer) get groomed. As I was watching another dog yelped a lot and I saw blood on the table. I then reported it to the one of the store managers, he just defended his staff and tried to imply that I didn't understand grooming. After this I went back to watch my dog and he was getting his nails clipped. This groomer also cut several of his quick's. One of the nails that she caught the quick on is white, you can see the quick in white nails. I then talked to the grooming manager and she gave me a ton of attitude and said from this point on I will mark your file as inactive. So she did not say sorry and she banned me from the grooming place, not that I would ever go there again. read more

Couldn't be happier with the grooming service we received today. Our dog is aging and I've grown more & more uncomfortable with the service we've been receiving from our previous groomer. Lexie was our dogs groomer & was so friendly to us & very warm and caring to our dog. She had him groomed quickly & he looked so handsome!
