this location has always been my favorite go to. but not until my last visit when i came in in hopes to do a no receipt return on some treats that i bought 2 weeks ago that caused my dog to throw up. i kindly asked Cindy if there was any way possible to have the receipt searched up and she said yes, that she was able to look it up using my phone number. after not even 1 minute of her browsing on the computer, Cindy proceeded to tell me "you know what, i won't be able to give you a full return because i can't find the receipt, it's way too many and i don't have all day to look through them" so she offered store credit. very disappointing experience i've never had problems here, she basically stole part of my money because of her laziness and lack of customer service. not only was she was lazy but she also had an attitude like if she disliked working there. Petsmart definitely needs to get better employees and have Cindy fired for horrible service. read more

I went to Petsmart to purchase crickets and meal worms for my lizards. The store was set up like most Petsmarts. There were 2 associates helping in the fish/reptiles area. One seemed very knowledgeable, but the other one just seemed as though she was there. Unfortunately I was helped by the 2nd of the associates. I asked for crickets and meal worms. The meal worms are usually (at other Petsmarts) kept in the employees only area in the refrigerator. However, here they have a small refrigerator under the fish aquariums where they keep their worms. She gave me the crickets and pointed to a guy looking at fish. She said the worms were in the refrigerator on the other side of the guy. At other Petsmarts they usually take you to the area, assist you and don't just point. But they were busy, so I accepted it as that. Also, they usually put oxygen in your bag so your fish/crickets can survive the trip home, but I don't think they have that at this store (or at least they don't use it). Upon getting to the dirty, over frozen, use-to-be in someone dorm at college refrigerator, I noticed that they didn't have any meal worms. Not to mention the fact that the area near the refrigerator smelled like dirty pond water. I asked the lady if by chance they had any in the back. She stated that they only had what was in the refrigerator, but they did have a shipment coming in on Thursday. I was there on a Monday (today actually). I'm not sure if they realize that meal worms can stay in a refrigerator for quite a long time. After purchasing them (from other Petsmarts), we have kept them for an additional 1-2 months in our refrigerator. I just don't understand why they can't keep a steady supply. (And it was only Monday, I could understand running out on Wednesday....maybe) Additionally, they had only 1 cashier and apparently none of the 3 other associate who were walking by could open up a register to help the 7 people in line waiting. (I only get annoyed waiting in line when I see associates standing around when they could be assisting customers) On another note, the cashier, for whatever reason, turned on the conveyor belt when a fish (in a bag) was on it. It pretty much scared the fish. She then proceeded to talk to the fish (to calm it down of course). But the customer who was purchasing the fish looked quite annoyed. Hopefully the fish makes it. Other than that the cashier was rather pleasant. I am not criticizing all Petsmarts, only this one. I usually frequent the one off Roosevelt near UIC or the one on the north side, but happened to be in the area so wanted to check this one out. I'll stick to my usual spots. read more

I had a 12:30 grooming appointment for my dog yesterday. I took her in, and the groomer said she should be done around 3:30, but I expected it to be more like 4, because I know how it goes sometimes, got there at 3:30 anyway, instead of waiting for her call, because that would add another 15 mins to get there. She was still working on another dog, and said my Jasmine has been bathed already, and it would be about another hour and she would call me, so I went home and waited, but by 5 she still had not called. I drove back, and saw that she was working on yet another dog! So I went to Home Depot and killed time there, and came back at 6, and guess what, she had JUST started on Jasmine!! Needless to say, I was very upset. I talked with the manager, who went all out to defend the groomer, and didn't seem to care one bit that this was unacceptable. It didn't seem to matter to him that the 12:30 appointment had started only at 6! It was 7:05 pm when my dog was ready. (And the job was pretty bad.) I will not be going there again. (I used to take her to the PetSmart at Canal Street downtown, but we moved, so the Burbank PS is the closest to me. ) Sorry to report that the whole experience was completely unprofessional. All she had to do was call and tell me, I am backed up, can you please bring the dog later? She kept telling me that she had SO many dogs to groom yesterday. I went into to pet smart for dog food for my sons dog . The people working there are very helpful . Just forgot to bring the dog lol

Saturday I took my Lab dog to be groomed and when I got home my husband noticed that she did not smell clean . We called back to complain and they told us that maybe the groomer forgot to spray the perfume on her. I personally thought why would you need to spray perfume if you wash the dogs. I asked to speak to the manager and she told me she could do nothing unless we brought the dog back so she can inspect . I explained could not bring the dog back today. I was hosting a party and could not leave . She offered no other solution . It made me think about the events of the day while in the store. I wonder if the fact that they were having plumbing issues had something to do with it . I say that because when I asked about using the bathrooms I was told they were closed due to plumbing issues . When I inquired with the lady working in the grooming shop she said she had to go to Food for Less and use there restrooms. So it had me wondering was the water not clean that they were using to wash my dog ? read more

Plz read all. Never shop for any pet at a chain pet store. U are supporting a place that gets there animals from puppy mills aswell as small animal and reptile mills, these places inbreed dogs and other small pets which causes many health complications in the future. These animals are abused and mistreated. Go on YouTube and look at petas investigation on petsmarts supplier. It's heartbreaking. These places also supply petco pet land. Plz purchase animals from a reliable local petstore / breeder. Chain pet stores know vry little about the animals there selling, for example when I was 11 I was doing non stop research about bearded dragons after about 3 months i was ready to purchase my first. I am very passionate about animals and want to to what's write for them. I went to pets mart and picked out a bearded dragon little did we know he would only live a month. They told me he only needed 3-5 crickets and no calcium powder. I knew this wasn't right but I couldn't speak up. We decided to purchase him. For 2 weeks he only ate 4 crickets and no veggies. One day I took him out and he stopped breathing and collapsed in my hand we revived him and the next morning to him to the vet. After tests they confirmed he had a disease that was due to improper breeding or inbreeding. He passed away in the vets warm tank. The vet also said the rest of his clutch had that same disease. They would all pass away. It's incurable. And it's devastating. Plz buy your pets from a responsible breeder or a reliable local pet store. read more

This is the Petsmart closest to my house so I come here whenever I run out of grain-free dog food on the weekend (if I run out during the week I head to my go to Petsmart on Canal) and that's it. It seems every time I come here the lay-out changes and it takes twice as long for me to find one bag of dog food. I don't even bother anymore going to the reptile aisle/bird aisle/ clearance/fish tank/ (whatever they're going to put here next aisle) to look for turtle food and supplies because I know they won't have it (or have one returned shrimp treats left which are turtle candy, not food and do me no good). The mealworms look old and smell funny-I don't want to pay for dried up shells of used to be mealworms my turtles reject (who would blame them?). They're clearance is a joke: 5% off? Why bother. People often dump full price items they don't want in the clearance bins and it's a mess. Don't come here in the evening as there are dog training classes right in the middle of the store that block everything (god forbid you want something in one of the aisles they block). The one time I've interacted with someone on the floor it was to find a particular bag of dog food after they changed the dog food lay-out for the third time this month, only to have them ask in a confused voice," what do you want?" after I said the brand and described the bag and even the breed of dog pictured on it. They then proceeded to scratch their head and tell me to ask so and so. I found it on my own only to have so and so run up to me and ask if I needed help. So come here if you must, but plan on spending double the time you expect it to take for a run in, run out trip. read more
