BamBam, Peanut and Marley (not in pic) had a spa day. Thank you so much Petsmart. We will be back!

They took good care of my babies. My doggies are not easy but they did great. I appreciate their patience.

First nail trim on our way home to Nova Scotia!

All my cousins and their families go here. I was surprised to say the least to have had what was probably the worst customer service experience of my life when I called this place to set up an appointment for my cat. I'd leave zero stars if I could. I called the office Wednesday afternoon and a woman answered. I said I would be a new client, I have a pet cat and we had moved back home to Maine from Boston less than a year ago and it was time for my cat to be seen and get her vaccines. The woman told me she wouldn't schedule us until October because we are new clients, which is an insane lead time for a vet appointment. I switched vets during the pandemic and never had to wait longer than 48 hours to be seen for any reason. For reference, my neighborhood in Boston had a higher population and less than half the vets that the Bangor area has. I said I was hoping to be seen sooner, my cat has a bit of an increased appetite, experiences chronic stress-related cystitis and gets an annual urinalysis, she's a senior (12 years) with arthritis, and in the middle of me trying to explain her kidneys and thyroid are monitored so she needs a blood panel, the woman interrupted me. She said, "Even if your pet was experiencing a health issue and needed to be seen as soon as possible, I would not accommodate." What kind of vet office flat out tells people flat out that they don't care if your pet is sick? What kind of vet office flat out admits they do not care if someone's pet lives or dies? All because I have never had an appointment here before? I said okay, well, I guess let's book a time slot for October since that's apparently my only option. The woman interrupted me a second time. "No," she said. She refused to give me an appointment time until after I sent in my cat's record and they have looked over her medical history, which, again, is incredibly weird. It also feels extremely discriminatory? So if my cat has an issue you don't feel like dealing with, you'll just refuse us medical services? I've never, ever in my life had a vet office refuse to give me an appointment for any reason, let alone discriminate pets based on their health. Again, I said okay, I can give you my email and our old vet's info, I'll sign the release form to request my cat's records from our old vet. The woman interrupted me a THIRD time and straight up scoffed and chuckled at me and said, "No, no, no, no. YOU can contact your old vet and have THEM send US the file. Then YOU can call US back in a week, and then we will confirm whether we received and have reviewed her file or not. I do not have the luxury of time." You don't have the luxury of time to... do your job? Sending a fax? Calling your clients back to confirm records and an appointment time is too heavy a workload? I've never been so outright disrespected by someone working in customer service. I've never been spoken to like this, ever, in my life by someone working in any field. If this woman is this nasty and cruel to customers, imagine how bad she is toward the poor animals that are under her care. I would never trust this place to care for my pet, especially with such a vile person working there. I still can't believe how awful and condescending this woman was on the phone, and I just can't wrap my head around a vet office employing someone who goes out of her way to treat people who are just trying to get their pet who medical attention so miserably.

A few years back, during a heat wave, Heidi actually bought out the local WalMart of kiddie pools for the dogs! The dogs get indoor playtime in the gym. They get outdoor playtime, too. Heidi believes a tired-from-play dog is quieter and less anxious. How right she is. It is rare that we hear repetitive or deafening barking at this kennel. At other places ,the workers often don ear protection before going back to the cages. Their groomer recently gave our 2 dogs the best clips they've ever had. It's saying something when our dogs literally leap out of the back of my car and RUN into the kennel. (We used to have to drag them into Acadia Woods Kennel....that should have been a sign :-( ) Rather than having an adjustment period when our dogs return home, they are settled and normal: it's like they never left.

Two week $896 dollars!!!!! I was already renting the cage, so I was charged for two large cages for two weeks. I called twice to talk to the owner, who was not there when I picked them up. No response, all you can leave is a message, and THEY DO NOT RETURN YOUR CALL! I feel this is bad business. BEWARE of their sneaky price gouging and not being up front with pricing. I will be spreading this news to all my friends with fur babies! Buyer Beware of these unrealistic prices!

We have 2 mini goldendoodles and because there are not many groomers in Bar Harbor Maine we had to wait quite a while to get an appointment. The front desk staff was very friendly and efficient. Prior to these two, I had a toy poodle and toy terrier both 3 pounds. They went to these groomers as well for 13 and 14 years before passing. Again, they always did an excellent job and my dogs showed no anxiety going there or when leaving. I would highly recommend bangor pet resort and spa. I chose these groomers after another local grooming facility left a 2 inch gash in my 3 pound poodle and did not even notify me of it. I saw it after bringing her home. I called and was given excuses but not not any type of apology. My dogs never returned to that facility. My only concern is that the time they are going to be there is not consistent, ranging from 4 hrs to 6 or 7. However I do understand that there are many reasons it would be difficult to keep a consistent schedule. This concern however does not deter me from taking them there. If you're like me, you're looking for a doggy daycare because you want a place for your doggo,…read morefloof, or pupper to be happy, stimulated, entertained, and comfortable while you're at work or running errands. You want to make sure that you leave your precious pooch with people who are responsible, compassionate, and care about your dog as much as you do. We have a very energetic German Shepherd/husky mix, and she would be miserable at home alone all day (we'd also probably be on our fifth couch by now). I was so nervous about dropping her off, because I had this vision of doggy daycare as basically being a daytime prison for puppies. I felt so guilty signing her up. I was officially the world's worst dog mom. Carden instantly alleviated my fears. They offered to take me on a tour of the facility so I could see all the spaces behind the closed doors. They assured me that the dogs spend very little time in kennels, and spend most of their time playing, with access to the outside and lots of fresh water. And after just a couple of days, my dog was pulling on the leash to get in the door. She loves going to "school," as we call it. Carden takes great care to pair your dog with a play group that fits your dog's size and play style. When new dogs are introduced, they pay close attention To make sure everyone is well matched; if not, they switch them into a different group. I feel very confident that my dog will be safe and relaxed. The staff knows that my dog can't be trusted around other dogs if there are toys involved, so they're very careful to make sure that her play group is a toy-free group. My husband and I work at a university, so we have a pretty variable schedule, and Carden is really good about working with us as our needs change each semester. It's one of the only kennels in the area that does half days, which is so helpful, as it's nice to not have to leave her longer than we need it (or pay for more than we need). You can also get your dog groomed, bathed, or have their nails trimmed during their daycare stay. I am super happy that I can outsource this, because I am both 1) busy, and 2) I have still not recovered from the trauma of seeing her "how could you betray me?!" face when I tried to bathe her at home. The fact that she still pulls on her leash to get into Carden's even though we get her bathed there regularly should be testament enough that this place is awesome for dogs. We've used their overnight boarding service several times, and have always been very happy. They follow our instructions regarding food, treats, toys, etc., and you can even add on extra services like a Frisbee session or trail run. They even do a Sunday brunch that looks better than what I get at home! The bottom line is, if you're looking for a place that loves your dog as much as you do, this is it. If you need an affordable option to keep your dog exercised, safe, and happy when you're away from home, give Carden a call.
