In December 2021, one of my dogs sustained a facial injury. It was later in the afternoon, I Was applying an initial bandage to the dogs face and my wife called the clinic which was still open. The receptionist, Jo-El, apathetically told my wife that they would probably be closed by the time we arrived. My concern was the proximity of the injury to the dog eye. The dog was seen and treated at midcoast in Warren who did an excellent job.. Several days later, I expressed my concern about the clinics reaction to Dr Haller, who responded with a scathing email telling me that I had no business abusing her staff on the phone. Dr. Haller also stated "Ultimately, dog bite wounds can wait until the morning in many cases, with antibiotics and pain medications. Due to the crushing component of bite wounds, the full extent of injury isn't fully declared for 3-5 days afterwards - meaning that if it was small, I may not have even wanted to close in a potential infection or unhealthy tissue." To put it simply, this statement is completely inaccurate. Its proximity to the Eye demanded immediate attention. Apparently the receptionist decided to provide her employer with a more creative version of the truth, rather than take responsibility for her completely unprofessional and unacceptable behavior, When I wrote her back to explain that I hadn't even been on the phone and that the call had been recorded, I didn't receive any reply. I then wrote the clinic owner of my experiences, and never got a reply. It is my understanding that the clinic has since been sold to a corporation. This makes no difference to me. It's been my experience when I was working that corporate ownership at no time improves the quality of service provided by any veterinary clinic.

Dr Hanks & Dr Barry are both " Top Gun Vets " . They may not always be able to tell you what you want to hear - that's the nature of this business unfortunately- but they will deliver bad news in the most caring compassionate manner possible .The waiting area is extremely comfortable too with coffee always available . Front desk staff is also over the top friendly & compassionate . For a veterinary practice they get the highest rating by me of ANY that I've experienced over my lifetime . What's the real difference here ? I think best summed up like this : they truly care for your pet as if your pet was there's . Update : March 20 2019 - I want to thank all the staff at Kindred today & particularly Dr Barry for placing our beloved Jack asleep this morning at about 10 am . Dr Barry was honest -compassionate and straightforward . His time with us today with Jack is the toughest time for a veterinarian too - and Dr Barry performed his role to such an honorable extent that despite my tremendous grieving tonight I want to make sure I make mention of it . Jack was worth all the tears I've cried for him today and then some . This veterinary practice is more than worth your patronage . I will miss the staff here almost as much as I will miss Jack . Thank You Dr Barry & Hanks & Kindred .

When we went back to have is drain tubes taken out the vet came out and said , well it's not good ,he has a bunch a dead skin . You have like 3 options . 1- take all the dead skin off and wrap with clean dressing ever 2 days and it probably won't work . 2- have his leg amputated and hope no infection happens . 3- euthanizing. Which she recommended. I couldn't bear to put down my best friend. So I went to Veazie veterinarian and go a 2nd Opinion. The WONDERFUL doctor there said to forget EVERYTHING the other vet said . Chance it doing great . He walks , he wags his tail , yes he's in rough shape but we can fix him . Chances first surgery at Veazie Veterinarian hospital cost a lot but so worth it . Chance is eating again, he's barking at noises . I will be moving all my animals to Veazie for now on . The doctor is the most caring and understanding veterinarian I have ever met . HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

At any case we took her here and she checked out as healthy at the time. A month later we were back because of poopy problems. We found out she had a disease that is common in unclean catteries. We received a prescription and the problems started clearing up. Then the real problems started. Our little girl was losing weight and was tired all the time. Because we travel so much we had to take her to an emergency vet in Connecticut. At that point she was diagnosed with FIP which is nearly 100% fatal. We made sure all records were sent to her doctor at the Veazie clinic and they did so much research and expressed such concern for our little Arista. They made appointments available at short notice which during these times is amazing. We drove from Rhode Island on more than one occasion because they were the only one that we could make a appointment with to do the blood tests we needed to monitor her progress. My wife and I sourced the drugs and administered the treatments because vets are not allowed to do it or even tell us about the possible treatment for this horrible disease but we needed a concerned vet that we could ask questions and monitor our treatment progress. Today our little girl is happy, healthy and full of energy. We have another month before we can say she is 100% cured and we are confident she will be. Thank you so much for the outstanding effort everyone at this clinic did for us and our little baby.

All my cousins and their families go here. I was surprised to say the least to have had what was probably the worst customer service experience of my life when I called this place to set up an appointment for my cat. I'd leave zero stars if I could. I called the office Wednesday afternoon and a woman answered. I said I would be a new client, I have a pet cat and we had moved back home to Maine from Boston less than a year ago and it was time for my cat to be seen and get her vaccines. The woman told me she wouldn't schedule us until October because we are new clients, which is an insane lead time for a vet appointment. I switched vets during the pandemic and never had to wait longer than 48 hours to be seen for any reason. For reference, my neighborhood in Boston had a higher population and less than half the vets that the Bangor area has. I said I was hoping to be seen sooner, my cat has a bit of an increased appetite, experiences chronic stress-related cystitis and gets an annual urinalysis, she's a senior (12 years) with arthritis, and in the middle of me trying to explain her kidneys and thyroid are monitored so she needs a blood panel, the woman interrupted me. She said, "Even if your pet was experiencing a health issue and needed to be seen as soon as possible, I would not accommodate." What kind of vet office flat out tells people flat out that they don't care if your pet is sick? What kind of vet office flat out admits they do not care if someone's pet lives or dies? All because I have never had an appointment here before? I said okay, well, I guess let's book a time slot for October since that's apparently my only option. The woman interrupted me a second time. "No," she said. She refused to give me an appointment time until after I sent in my cat's record and they have looked over her medical history, which, again, is incredibly weird. It also feels extremely discriminatory? So if my cat has an issue you don't feel like dealing with, you'll just refuse us medical services? I've never, ever in my life had a vet office refuse to give me an appointment for any reason, let alone discriminate pets based on their health. Again, I said okay, I can give you my email and our old vet's info, I'll sign the release form to request my cat's records from our old vet. The woman interrupted me a THIRD time and straight up scoffed and chuckled at me and said, "No, no, no, no. YOU can contact your old vet and have THEM send US the file. Then YOU can call US back in a week, and then we will confirm whether we received and have reviewed her file or not. I do not have the luxury of time." You don't have the luxury of time to... do your job? Sending a fax? Calling your clients back to confirm records and an appointment time is too heavy a workload? I've never been so outright disrespected by someone working in customer service. I've never been spoken to like this, ever, in my life by someone working in any field. If this woman is this nasty and cruel to customers, imagine how bad she is toward the poor animals that are under her care. I would never trust this place to care for my pet, especially with such a vile person working there. I still can't believe how awful and condescending this woman was on the phone, and I just can't wrap my head around a vet office employing someone who goes out of her way to treat people who are just trying to get their pet who medical attention so miserably.

The staff is very professional, caring, and accommodating and we feel very comfortable and confident in their care of our dogs and cats. The only reason this is a 4-star review as opposed to a 5-star review is because we have noticed recently that their prices have increased a good bit. I know that we are living in a very difficult economy and everything is more expensive these days, but I feel that their price increases are pretty significant. Additionally, their wait times have been pretty long lately. We had an appointment for one of our Golden Retrievers last week and we arrived a few minutes early, but ended up waiting in the parking lot for 20 minutes past our appointment time for them to come out to get our dog (you still can't go inside with your pet due to COVID). We also really miss Dr. Feher, who sadly, but understandably retired and sold the practice a few years ago. He always kept their prices very low while still providing top-notch care. He was our vet for many, many years and he was also our vet when I was a kid in the 80s and 90s. Overall, if you are looking for a vet that you can trust to provide the highest level of care to your fur kids, I very highly recommend Brewer Veterinary Clinic.

I went back a few months ago to see if they'd just remove it. She again refused, but never said that maybe another clinic would do it. She made it sound like it was something my dog had to live with and sent me home with the name of a vet who does in-home euthanasia. She said it would eventually rupture and that when it did, we'd have to have her euthanized. My poor girl was so miserable that I was going to make the dreaded call. Thankfully, my husband insisted we get a second opinion. We brought her to Veazie, and they got her right in. The vet said it was not wrapped around a muscle. He even gave up his lunch to get her into surgery ASAP. My dog is now energetic and happy, whereas before she was mopey and sleeping all of the time. I almost had her put down because I trusted someone who is obviously incompetent. The guilt I feel because my poor girl suffered with this mass unnecessarily for two years and the guilt that I almost had her put down is something I now have to live with. I'm including a photo of the mass and a photo of her postop. I should have known better. Dr. Olson was always making snide comments about how my dog was a basket case and was dramatic. I just thought Dr. Olson had a weird sense of humor. My dog would only get stressed at the vet, and I just chalked that up to the equivalent of how some people get stressed when going to the doctor's or a dentist appointment. I now believe my dog just sensed something was off and did not like Dr. Olson, because she didn't act like that at Veazie Vet. Anyway, I highly recommend Veazie Veterinary Clinic.
