My husband and I have been using Brewer Veterinary Clinic for nearly 22 years. This is also the vet that both my parents and grandparents used when I was a kid many moons ago. The staff is very professional, caring, and accommodating and we feel very comfortable and confident in their care of our dogs and cats. The only reason this is a 4-star review as opposed to a 5-star review is because we have noticed recently that their prices have increased a good bit. I know that we are living in a very difficult economy and everything is more expensive these days, but I feel that their price increases are pretty significant. Additionally, their wait times have been pretty long lately. We had an appointment for one of our Golden Retrievers last week and we arrived a few minutes early, but ended up waiting in the parking lot for 20 minutes past our appointment time for them to come out to get our dog (you still can't go inside with your pet due to COVID). We also really miss Dr. Feher, who sadly, but understandably retired and sold the practice a few years ago. He always kept their prices very low while still providing top-notch care. He was our vet for many, many years and he was also our vet when I was a kid in the 80s and 90s. Overall, if you are looking for a vet that you can trust to provide the highest level of care to your fur kids, I very highly recommend Brewer Veterinary Clinic. read more

Yeah my fiancee and I were bringing our 11 year old Pomeranian in for a bad tooth and we were 15 minutes late, just f.y.i. there was nobody in the waiting room when we got there. So one person said that car trouble happens not to worry just reschedule. Well I tried rescheduling and they said I had to forfeit the $180.00 no show didn't matter that we were late. So the unprofessional secretary was supposed to call me back for an upcoming day when I could get back in, not only did I receive a snooty attitude but she never called me back with a new date. I'm shocked to see all of these other reviews. We have nothing but glowing things to say about the care our medical-marvel dog receives here. He weirdly loves the staff and is super excited to get in there. Of course the meds are more expensive at the vet than when purchased over the internet. So is Tylenol when purchased at CVS vs Amazon. I wonder if some of these "misdiagnosis cases" were folks who declined to pay the additional $ for the blood tests and all that jazz. This was my first visit to this vet. Dr. Pryor seemed nice, but when I asked for clarification on how she knew my cat has allergies, she said "Because I said she has allergies." This came off as rude and unprofessional. It is not unreasonable for a pet parent to want to gather as much information as possible, especially if I will be having to pay for a prescription. It is certainly not an acceptable answer, as it did not actually answer my question, and not one I would expect at a place of business. read more

Beware the pharmacy upchages 200-250% on prescriptions for no reason. Was prescribed a bottle of Sebazole shampoo for $62 when it can be bought without a prescription for $32 on Chewy. I was unaware of the price until after purchase and they refused to take it back/refund. read more

We used to own two "difficult" German Shepherds. Brewer Vet always made accommodations for us and our two dogs. I practically have a herd of dogs now and their care has always been and continues to be top notch. I wouldn't take my babies anywhere else. I read some of the negative reviews and the only thing I found to be true was the long wait times but to me that has been the case at every place I've ever been for medical care for both my pets and myself. I just plan for it. The staff however, the nicest people ever. I can't imagine them ever being rude. I've even heard snippy clients get responded to patiently and professionally. They juggle a ton of stuff and those people at the front desk never have a moment of down time. Despite how busy they are they have always gone out of the way for any request I had and been as accommodating as possible. I love them there! My dogs even enjoy their vet visits. Truly. read more

We took our Maggie to have dental surgery she had 4 teeth removed.The vet did not tell us until the Monday the following week when took back in cause she was not eating..Then the vet told my fiance she had aspirated during surgery. We also found out Maggie had onset of kidney disease.No one knew this.But the fact she aspirated and the vet did not send antibiotics the day of surgery. Well we got meds after her second visit .For 7 days Maggie had not eaten she was drinking..Last Friday we had to say goodbye to her.She lost 3 lbs in one week she weighed 4lbs.We are in the low income bracket.We used most of our care credit on her .We would have done more.We freakin miss her my fiance is taking this hard. read more

Brewer Vet Clinic your practice doesn't deserve to be open to the public. I believe any dog in your care is at risk of misdiagnosis. No, I was not an established patient (though I did have the appointment for that set up in the near future.) but you're acceptance of taking us in for this appointment, and quickly collecting our $188, told me that you accepted the responsibility of his care. However, at the end of January (a little over a week later) I called your practice because my dog was not feeling well and was coughing and with the spike of kennel cough cases I was hearing about, I was worried. He got kennel cough in December and when I brought him in by the end of January, he still coughing and seemingly getting worse....your veterinarian came outside demanded I hang onto my dog, because you didn't wanna touch him, did a 20 second listen to my dogs, heart and lungs (10 seconds on each side.) Then asked me to put my dog in the car. That was the extent of the examination for kennel cough with my dog who was still coughing and seemingly getting sicker. No x-rays no blood tests. Nothing further was necessary as far as your veterinarian believed. Told me it was something my dog would have to work out on his own. To keep him home for a week and he should be fine to go back to daycare. Well, a little over one week later I called back with some concerns because my dog seemed to be getting worse. I asked to speak to a practice manager because I paid $188 for his sick care visit and I'm not sure that he got the appropriate care when he was there because he seemed to be getting worse. I did not receive a phone call back , six days later I called back and was told that the practice manager would get back to me either that night or the next day (ironically, the same thing I was told six days prior) two days later still nothing. That same two days later my dog was in the emergency room that night with secondary kennel cough infections, including pneumonia, and a partially collapsed lung. A temperature of nearly 106 degrees. I believe if I did not bring my dog in for that emergency care that night he may have died overnight that is how bad he got so quickly , it's been a long month of recovery for my dog but we finally got a vet who is reputable and took care of my dog with antibiotics and the care he needed to get better (Thank God). Today he is 100% cleared and no effects from any of this and I can tell you, Brewer you must've said your prayers like I told you on the Better Business Bureau conversation because there was definitely going to be lawyers involved if my dog died because of your incompetent veterinarian and practice. You all are rude and full of excuses. The ridiculous conversation back-and-forth with the person you tasked with the Better Business Bureau conversation, which all I asked for during that conversation was $188 back because I didn't feel you deserved it because a 10 second listen on each side of his lung was not an examination. You were nothing but full of excuses of should've could've would've. You were contradictory in every communication which I pointed out several instances. unfortunately, the communication was closed because the Better Business Bureau could see that we were going to keep going around and around on this issue because you were never going to admit your fault. So I told myself that if Tonka was fine then I would let the lawyer go, so you guys should be praising the Lord right now, but I will tell you this , the reviews outlining your incompetence will be ongoing because there's no way I ever want to see any dog go through what my sweet Tonka when through. I also find it alarming the number of people who negatively react when I say Brewer veterinarian clinic, one response was someone threw their hands over their mouth like oh no and was like please tell me you found him a different place. We have had this very for years. I even use to drive over an hour too bring my animals here. All the vets are wonderful, personable and very knowledgeable. Dr Monier is the bomb! But we have had others and great as well. Their staff is great as well. I wouldn't use any other vet. I'm a retired veterinarian and I've come here several times for laser treatment for my dog. I found the medical staff to be extremely competent and knowledgeable; however, the front desk staff is another story. Everyone seems to be on the phone all the time, and you should expect to wait at the front desk for several minutes until somebody can help you. It's a strange system. Recently however, I stopped coming here because of an extremely unpleasant interaction with the receptionist while I was trying to book an ultrasound appointment for a pregnancy check. After being put on hold for five minutes, and despite telling her that I was a retired veterinarian, the receptionist insisted on delivering her pedantic and rather insulting explanation of what ultrasound would and would not reveal. Unlike said receptionist, I went to school for this and used to work in the field, and so I found this to be totally insulting and disrespectful, and the receptionist's manner to be profoundly unprofessional. Despite my asking her to stop several times, she ignored me and simply continue to delivering her litany of ultrasound factoids. At the end of this nearly 15 minute phone call, the receptionist asks: "What's the reason for this scan?" I asked her if she was serious; she responded by hanging up. This is an excellent example of how poorly trained support staff can obliterate a patient client relationship in the blink of an eye. I no longer come here and instead use another clinic for my needs. Fortunately, there is no shortage of good clinics in the area where the front desk staff do not try to aggrandize their self importance at the clients' expense. Inexcusable and unacceptable behavior. NEVER frequent ANY business that allows clients to be treated in this sort of disrespectful, rude, and condescending manner by its staff. It's never a good sign. read more

I will never take another animal to this place! You treated my cat for a yeast infection when she had kidney failure and all you could say when the antibiotics YOU prescribed her shocked her system was that she should be put down. I however actually cared about the wellbeing of my cat and did my own research from a separate veterinarian located out of state who gave me an option to treat instead of a death sentence for my lifelong BEST FRIEND. It's been a year and one month since I lost my angel and there's not a day that goes by where I don't still talk to her and pray for her. I left a review on Brewer Vet Clinic's facebook page and their response was that "they wouldn't treat any more of my animals because I was bullying". That's hilarious because you people couldn't PAY me to bring another animal under your "care". You're a bunch of soulless cowards and my cat deserved way better and I'm sorry that I trusted her with you. You're a sorry excuse of a clinic and your receptionists are cold and uncaring--considering I called originally very upset and crying to set up an appointment to get my cat checked out, which was only met with the most annoyed tone by your receptionist. IM SORRY I WAS WORRIED ABOUT HER I CLEARLY HAD A RIGHT TO BE CONSIDERING SHE'S GONE NOW SO THANK YOU FOR THAT. I have always been very pleased with the level of car my dog received at BVC. My dog had two separate ACL surgeries and the vet was amazing. Unfortunately I chose not to return to BVC when they chose to tell my my dog's biopsy showed terminal cancer via voicemail. I learned my best friend was going to die in a voicemail. Now I realize that news was going to be devastating now matter how I received it, but getting it in such an impersonal manner was too much. So my issue was not with the quality of care, but with how I was treated. read more

We've been going to this veterinary clinic for a little while. The service is very slow starting from the time you check in until you leave. It's nothing to wait for 30-60 minutes for our appointment. The staff at the front counter are always snappy. They make you feel as if they are doing you a favor. It's nothing to hear them bad mouthing other staff. The prices are higher than the other local veterinary clinics. We were told by the new owner who also is a vet at this clinic that he was going to lower prices. Price lowering never happened. We have decided to leave this clinic. Hopefully in the near future they will get it together. read more

Most staff in this facility are incompetent and rude. They have made having a dog with seizures more difficult than it needs to be. I will say Dr. Moniere was great and was always kind and listened to concerns. This last episode of seizures my dog couldn't even stand and they told me "the bills are adding up" and "we don't feel that she needs to be seen". Excuse me, what?! Needless to say, Dr Ai at lucerne got us right in and fixed her up in no time. Head on over to lucerne vet if you want your pets to have excellent care. read more

After telling me my cat needed surgery for bladder stones and quoting me 2k, they proceeded to just put in a catheter and let him suffer for 2 days, charge me $1200 and send him home no better! I now have to come up with the money to actually get the surgery done! Why would you allow an animal to suffer just to pad your already stuffed pockets!? read more

This Dr pined my cats leg. My cat suffered nerve pain and he said I was wrong. Took him to another vet who had to amputate the leg he supposedly fixed. And he never admitted he made a mistake. Will never see any of my pets again read more

I have been using this vet for 2 years. The vets are courteous and knowledgeable. They have Saturday hours, and typically can schedule me within 2 days if it is a critical visit. The downside....the wait once I arrive at the appointment. No matter the time of the appointments or the purpose of the appointments, I wait approximately 45 minutes to be seen. On one occasion I brought our cat in for an initial visit, entered the exam room after 15 min, then waited 30 mins for the vet. Another visit after waiting 30+ min to see the vet, I then wait 30 minutes to pay. (I would change vets, but I've heard this is a problem for all vets in the area.). Their waiting area is small. It has 2 benches for seating. The same entrance is used for all animals. They typically have cat or bird cages set up for adoptions in the waiting area as well. It gets congested in the morning and afternoon for pick ups, paying and patients present for their appointment. I have begun checking in, then waiting in the car with my pet. They call me on my cell phone when they are ready for me. The veterinarians are wonderful, sensitive and sincere. read more

We have had three appointments with this clinic since we adopted our kitten in May. In these tender times, we could not join our kitten to her appointments. Our first encounter with the clinic was by phone and immediately I was reassured because of the personality and thoroughness of the staff. Our kitten was so well treated and the staff was incredibly informative regarding her state of health. Her second appointment was the same level of expertise and reassurance. Yesterday she had her spay surgery and, again, we are so thrilled that we chose this clinic for our beloved Lily. She was do well taken care of. The follow up was so welcome and she is recovering beautifully. I can only speak for our experience but I am grateful beyond words to have found such a caring place to take our new family member. This is not my first go round with a vet but it is the best by far. To say that I trust them with my little darling is high praise. They have earned that and more. read more

We miss Dr Feher whom we have had as our veterinarian since 1983, he was affordable and compassionate. He never tried to sell you something you didn't need. The new staff is okay. They try to get you to buy a lot of stuff for your pet. The minor surgery our dog had was originally $300 but we ended up paying $500. The biopsy shipping was $50 and another $139 to read a 3 cm piece of skin. Also medication was $68 for ten days a bit high. Finally I told them we already have a plastic cone from last month at $10 but they still charge $10. The new veterinarian was nice and spent time with us. She's not the problem, it's all about the money and we are on a fixed retirement. read more

Their is an entire industry built on trying to tear down good people who do good work. Don't be a part of it. I know these people intimately. And while they may have some faults- they don't cheat. I've been going to Brewer Vet since he opened and have never had an issue with any of the staff. Dr Feher has an excellent reputation and is exceptional with both the pets and their owners. It's disturbing to read what appears to be a bogus negative review ( you don't plan an emergency procedure a month down the road). They are the nicest group of folks and take great care of my dog. My cats and birds have gone to Brewer Vet for 17 years. I switched vets because I got birds and Dr. Feher was recommended to me as the go to for birds. The first time I brought my cats in they were purring! That was all the recommendation I needed! It's very obvious that all the staff loves animals and we've received wonderful care at fair rates. There are no words to explain how disappointed I am it's this vet clinic. I was referred here by a friend who said they had a friendly staff and took care of the pets. This unfortunately was not the case. After making an appointment a month prior and speaking to them several times to confirm everything they call me the day before the appointment to let me know that what I have been told for the last month by an employee was not accurate and I will be paying more than triple the amount for the procedure planned. This is an emergency situation and they would not even refer me to another vet but instead told me to just go back to my old one which is three hours away. Your pet is just a number here. The clinic overbooks and keeps you waiting for over 30 minutes while your animal suffers in a hot and stuffy room. All they seem to care about is making money. When my dog died, the doctor never even sent a card or called to offer condolences, despite treating her for several years. My guess is because they're too busy, too heartless, and too ashamed to admit that they never identified her illness, which could have been managed with medication. Find a vet that cares. read more
