We scheduled an early morning appointment for 1 of our dogs, and were assured that our dog would have his haircut and they'd let us know when he was finished. We stayed out in the area, to pick him up when he was finished, but we never got a call. We went into the store to see what was going on, and found out that they had "overbooked" grooming appointments, and had never even started his haircut. They put him into a kennel while he was there, and they never apologized for what happened. We were extremely angry, and when we spoke to the manager, she didn't seem to care at all. We will never take our animals to get their grooming there, and have stopped shopping there as well.

I went back a few months ago to see if they'd just remove it. She again refused, but never said that maybe another clinic would do it. She made it sound like it was something my dog had to live with and sent me home with the name of a vet who does in-home euthanasia. She said it would eventually rupture and that when it did, we'd have to have her euthanized. My poor girl was so miserable that I was going to make the dreaded call. Thankfully, my husband insisted we get a second opinion. We brought her to Veazie, and they got her right in. The vet said it was not wrapped around a muscle. He even gave up his lunch to get her into surgery ASAP. My dog is now energetic and happy, whereas before she was mopey and sleeping all of the time. I almost had her put down because I trusted someone who is obviously incompetent. The guilt I feel because my poor girl suffered with this mass unnecessarily for two years and the guilt that I almost had her put down is something I now have to live with. I'm including a photo of the mass and a photo of her postop. I should have known better. Dr. Olson was always making snide comments about how my dog was a basket case and was dramatic. I just thought Dr. Olson had a weird sense of humor. My dog would only get stressed at the vet, and I just chalked that up to the equivalent of how some people get stressed when going to the doctor's or a dentist appointment. I now believe my dog just sensed something was off and did not like Dr. Olson, because she didn't act like that at Veazie Vet. Anyway, I highly recommend Veazie Veterinary Clinic. I was checked in quickly and they said they would give me a call when they were finished. I dropped them off around 8:30am and was able to pick them up around 1:30pm. They listened to what I was looking for and did a great job with their hair. They could have went a little bit shorter on the head but overall they looked great! Prior to these two, I had a toy poodle and toy terrier both 3 pounds. They went to these groomers as well for 13 and 14 years before passing. I chose these groomers after another local grooming facility left a 2 inch gash in my 3 pound poodle and did not even notify me of it. I saw it after bringing her home. I called and was given excuses but not not any type of apology. My dogs never returned to that facility. My only concern is that the time they are going to be there is not consistent, ranging from 4 hrs to 6 or 7. However I do understand that there are many reasons it would be difficult to keep a consistent schedule. This concern however does not deter me from taking them there. Caitlin took our boy and won his trust quickly and was able to give him and end to end remodel and refurbish cut with no problems which was so remarkable I still can't believe it . While we found the name a little odd and they came up almost last on a search for doggie daycares in Bangor (probably because they are in Hermon ME which is just 1 highway exit away or 7 minutes away). They are a very large facility and all the dogs are very happy. The limited interactions we had with staff - they were friendly and very professional. Reasonably priced with flexible longer hours. On the 2nd day of daycare, our dog practically pulled my arm off racing to go back to play! They gave me feedback that he had been well behaved and asked me a question about a scar he has so I knew that they had checked on him and knew who he was, despite the large number of dogs they oversee. We wish they had a camera system that we could log in to watch our dog play - I'd pay a premium for this service. Otherwise, Maine Animal Keeper is friendly, wonderful and we would definitely trust our dog with them again!
