Great crew here. We have 5 dogs so vet bills are steep. Broadway Vet gets it. They allow us to bring two at a time for bet visits and split the time. read more

I bring my 1 year old German shepherd here and have been since he was a puppy. I liked the staff and how we were treated the first few times coming here. We recently came in for his annual shots and exam. I lugged 2 kids and my 100lb boy in luckily with the help of my husband who took a few hours off work to help. We came in got his shots and a very very lazy exam. I paid $89 for her to listen to his chest and try to talk me into getting him extra shots. My dog is a healthy boy so we paid the amount she asked and as we left the ladies up front talked to us and wished us well. 2 hours later I get a call that they didn't charge me enough and the lady demanded I give her my card number over the phone. I said no I will need to look at my receipt and I can come in person if needed. I asked for her to explain how I was not charged enough and she said "I don't know the girl was dyslexic with the numbers. She charged you 120 and it was supposed to be more and you need to pay the remainder now". I told her I will come in and pay it when I'm able to since i will not be giving my card over the phone. I'm fine with paying for my services but the way she talked to me over the phone she acted like I walked out without paying. I wasn't able to get my kids out again and go in so my husband did the next day to pay the remaining balance. They made a mistake and instead of apologizing and trying to be nice about it I was talked to like I was a criminal. I was going to be brining my other German shepherd and get them neutered here but after their mistake and the way they treated me over it I will not be bringing either dog here anymore. read more

We live in Virginia and vacation near Ellsworth. Our 14 year old husky received some nasty facial lacerations from another dog. This clinic and their staff were excellent in every way. Got him evaluated quickly, planned and executed the surgery efficiently and safely, got him home. Can't thank them enough! Many other closer vets would not or could not help us. They deserve 6 stars! read more

Got an appointment within a week. Everyone there was super nice. The vet was compassionate and knowledgeable. She listened to all my concerns I had with my little dog and we came up with a plan of care together. I highly recommend this place. read more

My cat has been going to Broadway vet for about 5 years. My cat developed seizures and was put on meds phenobarbital. I've had to had blood work every year to keep getting his meds filled. He's an older cat and has never had a problem with the medication. Sometimes I've hat a hard time paying 24.00 paying for his meds. If he doesn't have them he has seizures. They are aweful and I cry. We'll this blood work is 466.00. Plus rabies and the visit. Oh ya my cats an indoor cat. He took his last pill this evening and I'm going to have to give him up because I can't afford it and he doesn't deserve to have horrible seizures. I'm scared on what's going to happen to him. I do feel the vet could write my cat his prescription due to he has never had any issues with the medication. Or he can not write the prescription and not worry what happens next to him. I'm at a lost right now. I'm going to pray . I have till he needs a pill tomorrow. read more

Broadway Veterinary Clinic - Veterinarians Near Me - Bangor, Maine

I noticed some not so great reviews here and wanted to share our experience for people to make a more informed decision. We found worms in our dog's poop while on vacation in Bar Harbor/Acadia National Park. Our dog NEVER had worms before and he just had blood work and tests less done than two months ago. We were obviously freaking out as this is our first time dealing with this issue. Called EVERY single vet clinic in Bar Harbor, Ellsworth and Schoodic, everyone said they were busy or not taking new patient... I wondered what would happen if a pet had more urgent needs??? Finally expanded my search to Bangor and called Broadway, a very nice lady picked up the phone - like everyone else, she said they were busy, BUT she took the time to give advice over the phone and suggested an over the counter dewormer from Tractor Supply. She was very patient and shared our concern. We rushed to a tractor supply and grabbed the last two boxes from the shelf. Thank you so much and we were so worried and forgot to ask the name of the kind lady. read more

Our 3 kitties are taken care of by staff at Broadway Vet and they make us feel like they are their favorite patients. Vagabond, Quinnlin, and TygiLouBear are spoiled and well taken care of! Staff are very interested in hearing from pet parents and really getting to know the quirks of our little ones. They will answer every question in a straightforward way and we never feel like they are rushing us out the door. Vagabond lives up to his name and sometimes gets himself in trouble, but we can call and bring him in quickly and get him taken care of. They take especially good care of his bad teeth - we rescued him, but not before he was neglected enough to have dental problems. Broadway Vet has helped guide us in keeping His teeth as good as we can get them. TygiLouBear is a senior cat. Kidney problems - and she is spoiled when she visits and they are so gentle with our little lady. She's anxious and a bit neurotic, but the atmosphere is calm and she does pretty well. Quinnlin is the baby and he is in excellent health because staff have been so helpful in reminding us of his vaccination schedule and advising us on nutrition and health for kittens. In other words, we have three very different cats with very different wellness needs and they are attended to with thoughtfulness and professionalism. We won't go anywhere else! read more

I tried to bring a poor, 5 lb dog in here on my way to a 9 o'clock appointment. The poor small dog and I were both soaked from the rain storm. They tried to say I could only come in at noon - I ended up going to a different Vet Hospital. I was so upset for this poor half blind dog, I offered to pay them to board him until their noon appt just to see if he was chipped to find his owner and they said no. read more

We switched to this office after a number of frustrating visits at another (and very popular) office. From the moment I called to describe my pet's situation to the initial visit and a few follow up calls, every single person that we encountered was courteous, thoughtful and intelligent. I truly feel that our pets are in good hands with Broadway vet and am so grateful that we ended up here. read more

I've taken my dog here for 3 years other pets prior to that. I have always been happy with the care of my animals. Recently, Sully spent a night at the emergency vet and had to see Broadway in the morning. They took us right in and were thorough about tests to avoid surgery. They took such good care of him as always. read more

Broadway Veterinary Clinic is the best! Professional, efficient, friendly, caring, and always responsive to our needs. Dr. Sipes-Edelman has taken care of our beagles most recently and we couldn't ask for anything more. And, Dr. Benson does doggie chiropractic! We are so very happy to have such wonderful pet care here in Bangor, Maine read more

I have been a client of Dr Albert for over 4 years and found him to be a very good vet but I will be transferring all of my pets to Veazie vet. The several times I have needed a quick visit to vet they have refused to see my dog and suggested emergency services which cost me quite a bit of money. This is during office hours when I called and asked about seeing my dog that afternoon or the next morning because she had something in her paw. Second the office atmosphere is cold and uncaring. If I feel that way imagine how my pets feel. I question whether they like animals read more

Dr Albert I trust with all my fur babies. He takes his time with answering my questions straight and truthfully so I make best decisions for their care. Only con is check in this last visit waited 40 mins past appt then had to call to verify they knew we were waiting. Holds up the flow of their day and I felt I had to rush Dr Albert so he could get his appts back on track. Keep up the great job BVC team read more

I went to this clinic because our vet, Dr Joe Sipe, left the practice we were with (Lucerne in Dedham). Dr Sipe had been and is a wonderful, thoughtful, kind, caring, bright vet. Having said that, I do not like this practice at all. The staff are a bit indifferent. My dog had Chiropractic care with Dr Benson (Dr Sipe doesn't do Chiropractic) and screamed the whole time.....and he's had Chiropractic care by 2 other vets in the past and never, ever screamed like that. Considered this to maybe be because of acute pain- took him again, same reaction. He will never get Chiropractic care there again OR see anyone other than Dr Joe Sipe. Also, he got an injection there for his allergies and they charged $6 for "medical waste". When I questioned it they said everyone charges for it (not true) and copped an attitude with me........ I am diabetic- a sharps container for the needles costs me $4 for the entire container! Figured if he ever has to get an injection there again I will bring my own sharps container........... but it is principle. And I could've done without the attitude; a patient has every right to question a bill. As much as I love Dr Sipe not sure I will go back. read more

We've been clients of Broadway Vet for approximately 13 years now and we've always had nothing but good things to say about them and Dr. Benson. We have referred family and many friends there over the years. However, lately we've noticed that they've been going steadily downhill and seem to care more about the almighty dollar than they do about their clients and their pets. They have also become very disorganized and now have pretty long wait times in the waiting room, which they never used to have before. This past week, I had to call 3 days in a row just to get a refill of one of our dog's prescriptions called into Target (it's MUCH cheaper there). I don't understand why I had to call that many times just to get this done. It should have been taken care of the first time I called. We have always been very fond of Dr. Benson. He has been our vet for well over a decade now and has always been great and has been the reason we have using Broadway Vet for such a long time. Sadly, Dr. Benson doesn't have nearly as much availability as he used to and we were told that he's now only available 2 days a week for nonsurgical visits. Unfortunately, the 2 days that he's available aren't easy days for us to get there because of our busy schedules. The main reason that I am writing this review is that Broadway Vet now has a new policy that I do not like at all. We recently were given a young cat that had not been neutered or vaccinated yet, so I called to set up an appointment to have this done. I was told that we would first have to bring him in for a full exam and vaccines and then we would have to set up ANOTHER appointment on ANOTHER day to bring him in to be neutered. That would mean that we would get whacked with 2 separate office visit fees, plus we would have to find the time during the week to go in twice. It's hard enough for us to find the time to go in once during the week and usually involves one of us taking a day off! When I questioned them about this and told them that it never used to be that way, I was told that this was a new policy. It seems more like a money making scheme to me since this way they get to charge you twice for coming in. We ended up taking our cat to Hampden Veterinary Clinic instead since we live right in Hampden and they were able to do the exam, vaccines, and neuter all in one day, just like Broadway Vet used to be able to. I'll admit that this new policy isn't the only thing that has turned us off. The previous time we were there was with our black Lab for his annual exam. The girl working at the front desk had a real snotty attitude and gave us kind of a dirty look when our dog barked a couple of times. Ummm....hello?!?!? You work in a vet's office!!! You're going to be around barking dogs!!! It's not our fault that our dog was getting just as inpatient as we were with the 20+ minute wait to be seen, even though we showed up for our appointment on time! In fact, I'm pretty sure that we were even a few minutes early! We will now be taking our business elsewhere. It's really too bad that Broadway Vet has gotten to be this way. They used to be one of the best veterinary practices in this area. We definitely will miss seeing Dr. Benson. read more

For over 20 years our family has been a client of Broadway Vet. They have offered good care to our beloved furry family members and I have enjoyed the vets working there. The time has come , however, to go elsewhere for our pets healthcare. To a practice that is more aligned with my values. This pandemic has changed many aspects of society and how we all do business. Unfortunately, a side effect of this is the increase in impersonal, uncompassionate, rude, and detached interactions/service. Earlier this week, while walking on a woods trail, my little 12 lb mini labradoodle somehow managed to roll in a dead porcupine. This resulted in about 6 quills that became embedded in her neck and chin. Fortunately, she wasn't in any acute distress. I tried to pull them out on my own but met with resistance so I figured it was best to take her to a professional for removal. The quills didn't appear to be embedded very deep. I called Broadway vet and explained the situation. I was told without any compassion or concern, that they were understaffed (only one vet and one tech all day) and wouldn't be able to see Winnie ALL week. It was suggested to me to call around to other area vets to see if they could fit her in or I could drive her to Portland. Unfortunately, for us, the Brewer emergency vet clinic is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays each week. And this happened to be a Monday. I did my due diligence and called to about five other area veterinary practices. No surprise that they could not see Winnie as they weren't taking new patients at all right now. I get it. But at least they offered compassion for my predicament and voiced dismay that while even in these hard times, that Broadway vet refused to see her. Exasperated, I drove to Broadway Vet and said I was outside in my car. I asked if a vet tech could possibly come out and eyeball the situation for 10 seconds to give me an idea if I can just pull the quills out on my own. I even offered to wait in the car until the end of office hours ( which would be in 45 min). The answer again was a hard NO. We don't have time for you! Go away! I sat there in my car, teary eyed, looking at the quills sticking out of my dogs head and went back to my previous google search on area vets to see if I missed any. Wait... there was one other that I didn't call the first time around. It was Brewer Vet! I crossed my fingers and dialed. I explained my situation and they told me that they too were short staffed, with just one vet and one tech, but they would be happy to see Winnie when I could get over there. The staff there could not have been nicer or more caring. Less than 7 min after Winnie went into the exam room all the quills were out and she was on her way armed with an antibiotic. Needless to say, the next morning I called Broadway Vet and had our pets records transferred to Brewer Vet that graciously accepted Winnie as a new patient. read more

Dear Dr. Benson: Recently I brought my dog into this Clinic to be treated for a severe cough. I had Dr. Benson, Owner as my vet for a number of years and he was great. However, my recent visit with this clinic and staff was horrible. My dog was quite ill and was seen by Dr. Albert. He told me he was going to give my dog a liquid medicine for her severe cough. He also did some x-rays. Before I left i wanted to ask him more questions but staff said he was not available. I asked staff to please have him call me at home when he had the chance since i was still worried about my 10 year old dog. I never got a call back. The staff at this clinic was extremely rude to me when I tried to get more information about talking to the vet after my appointment. I spoke with 2 staff members who appeared to care less about my request and these staff members hung up the phone on me. I don't know how they keep their jobs. They were rude and uncaring each time I called. It is very sad to me that the staff is so rude. This clinic has numerous bad reviews now online that they should pay attention to. Years ago I had wonderful experiences at this hospital with Dr. Benson who was very caring. I wonder if he now realized that his Vet clinic has gone down hill greatly for customer satisfaction. I have never been treated poorly by a vet office staff until this experience. I would never recommend this hospital to anyone. My animal was very sick and they did not care or show any signs of caring. Unfortunately, this is not the Broadway Veterinary Clinic that I remember years ago and that is very sad. Dr. Benson ran a top notch business but I assume he is not aware of all the negative reviews now. Lately I tried to get my dogs x-rays that Dr. Albert took but never got any feed back if they were sent to my current vet. Again they were most rude and don't deserve to work around animals. Regards, Margie Forbes read more

I have been with Dr Benson since he opened his practice in Bangor and I have always felt like it was a nice place to take my little fur babies. He always seemed to put the animal first not the money. You knew he was going to give the best care possible. I have sent many people to him because he is an excellent vet. Things have changed so much that I no longer feel as though he cares about his client or he doesn't know what is going on. He is still a good vet but he is not there enough anymore. The pleasant atmosphere is no longer there. I wonder how much he does know. read more

We had an amazing experience at Broadway Veterinary Clinic! We took our Jack Russell and Papillion there for a check-up and they discovered arthritis and sensory issues in the Jack Russell that we didn't even recognize. Thank you so much for paying such attention to detail and checking our girls so thoroughly as to recognize Molly's aging issues. Now we know how to handle her new handicap. Thanks again, BVC! read more
