Bought dog food today at the store on Academy in Albuquerque. The clerk who checked me out was rude, dismissive and not helpful. She ignored questions, did not offer to put the cans in the cart . She had handled my purchases on previous trips, was never friendly but was usually moderately helpful. Disappointing. read more

Today I used my local Petsmart (Eubank store in Albuquerque) for their dog grooming services. I used their website to select the grooming choice I wanted, and took my dog in to have her groomed at the time I selected for her. After she was done I picked her up and was presented my bill for her service. I was suprized at the amount I was being charged. It was twice as much as I thought it was supposed to be and got upset about it. The cashier got snippy with me and told me that this was the amount that I had agreed to and instead of showing me the mistake I made when I made my choice online, she got a little rude with me and called her store manager over. I was very embarrassed, there were other customers in line by then. Turns out it was my fault, I did make the mistake, but they didn't help me to understand what I did wrong online and how not to do that again in the future. Very poor customer service. On top of that, I paid for my dog to receive a plus toy, a bandana and a coupon book, NONE of which I received. Makes me wonder what else was left out. I come to this pet smart often as it's closest to my house and place of work. I always have a great experience here, even when I'm coming in a little close to when they close. I cannot recall everyone's names, but there's a few staff here who are always kind and have a smile, offering assistance and answering questions with no problems! Charles is a very kind gentleman, and I can tell they are passionate about their work and love what they do. This store is usually pretty clean and stocked, so I never feel uncomfortable walking around. They take good care of the animals they sell and it's great to see. read more

Worst petsmart I've ever been to! Tried to overcharge me on everything in the grooming department: the manager, Vallion, when I brought up that I had called ahead twice to confirm that they were going to give me veteran discount, captain terrogating me in questioning me as if I was trying to pull one over on him even though his employees stood right there and told him that she. Had authorized it as a one time discount. He called me a liar not once, but 4 times. Including in front of other people and continued berating me and insulting me in front of others until I lost my temper, then he said he barred me From the store because of it, even though he was the the very one that precipitated it. He suggested that I had brain damage and didn't have a good memory regarding my military service and told me he didn't care that I was a combat veteran. I have never had issues here untell I got new fish and when they started to die off because they have parasites in the water. I took my fish tank water here 3 times to get tested and they kept telling me it was my tank. We picked up an item on the clearance shelf marked 2 cents we get the register and have to wait for the cashier to notice we were there, then instead of helping us she starts fiddling with her personal bag pulling stuff out then she finds her medicine opens it up takes it and then she starts putting her stuff back in her bag and pushes it under the desk. Never saying I'll be right with you. She scans the item it rings up a 2 cents I show her a picture of the item and the sale tag. She calls over the manager and he says I'm not selling that to you for that price. It was a mistake, were going to send it back since it was discontinued. Then he starts to grab the item so I held on to it to discuss the fact it was his error and he should honor the price. The he tells me I shouldn't be mean to the cashier after I told him what she was doing prior to acknowledging us at the register, he told us to leave the store. I said we have our dog at the Banfield Vet and he told me to get my dog an leave, we'll that's not happening it took a month to get the appointment were not taking the dog. He went back to the Banfield desk and no one was there and then he Said just leave. What an asshole. We have a labradoodle and a golden doodle who have easily matted and difficult hair. I am so grateful to have found a groomer with such great prices for large dogs! They make it so much easier to get the grooming done more regularly because we can afford it! read more

Beyond unhappy with the grooming for my baby. Noticed after pick up that my dogs whiskers were cut at random lengths. Two nights later and I noticed my baby still licking her front right foot- went to check and saw this red irritated mess. My poor baby has had a pad injury from this place! On two feet! Not sure if blade was too short, too hot or if she got a yeast infection at the groomers but I'm not happy. read more

He goes above and beyond to make sure you and your pup succeed. We will definitely be going to all the classes he has for more knowledge and to have better control of our home. He is a Sharpei Labrador mix....very Sharpei in look; sensitive skin and sensitive ears. They are so careful with him. Doesn't like nails done in his old age. They work with him to get it done. They are careful brushing him with his funky skin. He comes out ready to go home but he has a smile on his face and smells good too!. Just wanted them to know how appreciative I am for their service. I had previously used this store for grooming my dog, Luna and was very pleased. That was not the case this time. We were told that we needed to leave my dog there for FIVE hours. Wasn't sure exactly why, but we desperately needed to get her groomed so we reluctantly agreed. We had asked for regular groom, teeth brushing, nail grinding and shave down so we thought perhaps that was just a lot to do on one doggie, but sheesh five hours still seems like a long time. Overbooked perhaps? Anyway, about four hours after we left Luna there, I called to check to see how it was going. The person on the other end was rude. She said, "We told you that it was going to take about five hours when you dropped her off!" I said, "I know, I was just checking in, in case she was about ready" as we were getting ready to go eat. She indicated that it would be at least another hour (it was about 4:45pm) and closer to 6pm. "No problem" I told her. About a half hour later I get a text that Luna is ready to be picked up. We are in the middle of dinner by this time which is why I called in the first place! When we were waiting to pick up Luna we saw them roughly handling an elderly dog (looked like a golden retriever) who was clearly a bit scared by the hair dryer. After seeing the way they slung the other dog around and man handled her, my partner and I looked at each other and said simultaneously that we would not be bringing Luna back there. My dog is deaf and older and certainly doesn't need to be handled that way as she isn't always sure what's going on in the first place because she cannot hear. When we got Luna home we noticed that the shave down is horrible. She looked WAY better last summer when we asked for the same services. I'm not even sure the same person who I requested did the work. If she did, then she needs to go back to grooming school, take her time (perhaps she felt rushed when I called to check on her status?), or find another profession. Luna has cuts in some areas where they shaved too close to the skin. The cut is choppy and unfinished and down right raggedy in some places as well as being incredibly uneven. We have subsequently found other areas where she has small cuts that were not there prior to her groom. She had no cuts last summer so what the heck happened? I'm incredibly disappointed. For $100 bucks I expect more for my dog and for my dollar. Also, I can't imagine anyone roughly handling my sweet girl, especially when she is scared such as the dog they were treating poorly. Not to mention that she has elbow dysplasia which causes her a fair amount of pain from time-to-time. We will not be going back to Petsmart for grooming. Unfortunately I'm not willing to risk my dog's health and mental/emotional stability and have her caged for five hours only to receive a choppy haircut from a grumpy groomer. Good thing my dog is so cute, because she can pull off anything - even a bad haircut :) read more

I have taken all of my pups to the training classes here, Eddie and his team are fantastic. Three pups over the years and he was able to evaluate each one of their personalities individually and the associated strength's/weaknesses and tell me how to best train them based on that. Just like every child learns differently, so do dogs, and he's been spot on every time. He not only was able to teach us how to train our pups (sit, stay, heel, leave it, etc) but also how to address several behavioral issues at home (barking, rushing the door, aggressive, timid, etc) and takes the time to actually explain why they act like that, or are doing that really annoying thing. I really like also that he takes the time to go around the class, one by one, and see how everyone's pups are doing, I call it the "How Was Your Week" time. I've learned a ton just by sitting and listening to other folks issues, his explanation, and how to address it. I am also a puppy foster and I tell all my puppy adopters if their interested in training, this is the place! read more

I went to pet smart on academy to look for aspirin for my dog i asked a worker for assistance he appeared to be the manager i said excuse me sir can you help me finding dos aspirin his reply was rude with a displeasent demeanor and tone i actually walked away during his reply as i was leaving the store and the dog trainer was horrible the way he grabed the customers dog by the face and squeezed it till he cryed it was awful and he made comment to lady comparing dog to a gun i have trained dogs for over 15 years i never witnessed that ugly behavior i left with my dog and went to Petco near my home and was a very good experience i will never go back to that petsmart read more

I'm basing this poor review on "Curb Service." To start I thought I would give this a try due not only to the virus, but I also have a disability. My point...I had trouble with the WEB site making sure I was given the correct price including advertised discounts. Then when I got to the store they had a poster board in front giving a phone number to call for curb side service. After getting a doctors office by accident I thought I may have misdialed so I drove closer to verify the number, I was not misdialing. So long story short, I ended up parking going in standing in line only to find they couldn't find my order right away. I finally picked up my doggie treats and left frustrated. Can't even groom a Shih Tzu. They had a very unwelcoming attitude right from the start. Two hours in, my ShihTzu was sent home without her grooming because they couldn't do the job. Pathetic! She never misbehaves at any other groomer. She's 4 years old and has gone to my groomer for years and was never anything but sweet. They said they couldn't do her feet and she pooped on their table. We'll...duh...dogs do that, right? They should get out of the business if that's their level of knowledge of dog behavior. read more

We signed up for pet training in January and attended 2 sessions with Eddie. We have no complaints about his training as we were happy with the 2 sessions in which we were able to participate. Both my husband and I who are Seniors, contracted COVID and were unable to attend further classes. We have suffered many health issues since and "dog training" could no longer be a priority. I called today and spoke with someone who said he was the manager (Charles A.?) to ask if we could convert the balance to store credit since we have been shopping there for years. He was rude and told me it had been too many months so he wouldn't give me our money back OR store credit. I tried to explain to him that we have been inundated with health issues and that we are Seniors on a fixed income. He didn't care. Consequently, after shopping there for the past 10 years, we will NEVER set foot in that store again and I plan to make a complaint to their Corporate office as well as spread the word throughout our community of 500+ people (90% own dogs)! I am talking about the store on Academy. Apparently Eddie is no longer there, so that also speaks volumes too. read more

Absolutely love Eddie who works in the training department. Our two Australian shepherds took three classes with him and we get compliments on their manners and behavior regularly while out and about in public. He takes the time to learn each dog's personality and quirks and tailored his instruction to what worked for us and them. We also use the Banfield at this location and will keep Dr. England for as long as we can. The staff and nurses are always friendly and helpful. They know our dogs by name and offer great hours so we can get in whenever we have an emergency pop up. read more

This Petsmart location is probably my favorite. They always have what I need and also have a cat adoption center inside. Great savings on cat litter, food, treats and toys if you have the member rewards card. Staff is almost always friendly and helpful. I've had cat questions in the past and they have always given me useful advise. Christmas shopping for your furry friend is always fun here! Real cute stocking stuffers and gift sets. I love this store. It's big, conveniently located and has a huge parking lot. They have everything you can possibly need. The staff is really knowledgeable and helpful. They always offer help before you even need to ask. The store is really clean and fresh, and your pet is always welcome inside. I also like that this store doesn't sell puppies or kittens, but supports and welcomes animal rescue groups to set up adoptions stands and rallies. To me that shows real care for animals and I appreciate that. read more

I stopped in the grooming salon to have my dog's nails trimmed. I asked for the groomer to grind them. Salina, the groomer, was rude and clearly not interested in taking care of my dog. She accused my dog of growling at her, which she did not do. My dog was nervous and whining while getting her nails trimmed, and Salina kept reprimanding her. Finally, she charged me for a PAWdicure ($20) but did nothing more than grind and trim her nails (though I did not ask for her to trim them). She did not clean her ears, spritz her, or give her a bow. So I was charged for services which were 1) not ordered and 2) poorly delivered. I am very unlikely to return to this store, and I will certainly never let Salina handle my dog again. read more

Brooklyn goes to the toy store...my pup, Brooklyn, and I went to Pet-smart this evening because someone is in desperate need of a bath, her not me...okay well maybe me!! There is no better place to get animal friendly, safe and all natural doggy shampoo (ruffology) than Pet-smart. I'll start off by saying that on these trips I merely follow the tug of the leash as Brookie guides us in and out of the aisles sniffing the deals and choosing her treasures! I really enjoy the pet friendly demeanor an atmosphere of that store. The prices range from inexpensive to moderate, the selection and varieties of canine and feline brands are a copious there in ability. If you can't find what you're looking for than just howl at any of the lovely, very friendly, and knowledgeable doxperts who work here. The store also offers services such as grooming, animal training, as well as owner to pet on site training! The lovely cashier tonight helping me, and I want to say her name is Leslie but if that is wrong I apologize!!! I need to be better about writing these things down, but the young woman with dark semi long length hair in a braid, was oh so sweet and signed Brooklyn and I up for pet perks which is essentially like a "smiths" card. You get extra deals off of select items eligible for the sale. You just sign up 1,2,3 and then next time you shop just give them your phone number and BAM instant savings!! I don't usually leave reviews, but I had such an awful experience I had to. First off the staff in the salon couldn't locate our appointment, though we confirmed the day prior with them. Secondly they would not even look at my dogs shot record and accused me of "faking" it. They became even more standoff ish when they knew we were from El Paso. Extremely rude and demeaning. Blessing in disguise as I would never trust them with my dog after this experience. So if you'd like to be discriminated against and have your pets groomed by rude uncaring people definitely go here. read more

I took both my dogs for grooming. When i picked them up one dog did not have nails cut and the groomer said the dog didnt like it so she stopped. The other dog smells just as bad as when we dropped them off. 80 bucks for nothing. Called the manager and she offered nothing. Dont waste your money. Worse groomers ever. read more

I have always gotten my dogs bathed and clipped at pet smarts all over the country and this location was by far the worst experience I've had. The guy who took my call when I made the appt was flustered and had no idea what he was doing- he had to put me on hold several times and didn't understand that since they have been at other pet smarts he could look up their information. I was going to say forget it right then but I figured he was just new. The grooming area itself was filthy. The lady who checked them in didn't know what the packages consisted of and just gave me all separate add ons which ended up costing me 113$. My usual total is about 70$ so I have no idea what happened there.....And they didn't even get bandanas!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lastly, I didn't notice until I got home but they completely neglected to cut one of dogs nails. I will continue to use pet smart because they usually do a great job and are good with my dogs- I just won't be going back to this grooming location. read more

We just got a new dog, and in the last 5 days I think we've been in here 4 times to make sure he's got everything he needs, and every time with varying results of success. A dog trainer said that our breed of dog is always crazy hyper, when he's actually a mixed breed and extremely laid back, some other person very clearly didn't know a thing about dogs and how to take care of them because he suggested we do an extremely large kennel for our 15 lb dog, a manager was extremely rude to me because I told her that we already tried to put a cone on him for licking his neutering sutures and I was looking for something different, and another trainer was extremely rude when we came back in on a separate occasion to go to a smaller sized kennel. We were discussing bringing him here for training but I think I will pass. Great selection of dog products though! read more

We come here a lot. We enrolled our toy poodle in two of the puppy classes here. Jenn, the trainer was great and our dog learned so much (as did we!). Everyone is helpful and nice.. One of the groomers, Brock was really nice and at no charge cleaned our dog's ears after Jenn saw that our dog didn't get them cleaned after we just took her to another groomer the day before. Obviously their selection is same as any other pets art. I just wish they had the boarding facility here like the one on montano as I would definitely make use of it since this is so close to our house and since our dog is so familiar coming here I think she would like to be boarded here instead of somewhere foreign.
