We purchased a mini golden doodle from the Bella / Bentley litter that went home the last week of…read moreJuly. I am happy to report that Ellie is doing great and an awesome addition to our family. She went to her first training session yesterday and the trainer was truly impressed, given the breeds notoriety for hyperactivity. Don't get me wrong, she and her 5 year old chihuahua mix brother love to play in a ruff and tumble sort of way , and they adore each other, but I had the trainer assess her for becoming a therapy dog when she gets old enough, and Ellie passed with flying colors. She was very calm with no other dogs around, she picked up down and leave-it immediately, and she loves, loves, loves people. She did meet one other dog in the session and, of course, got a little excited, but that's to be expected at 4 months old. I credit Melissa at Atlanta Doodles and Poodles and the care she puts into breeding and care she puts into the pups. So, thank you Melissa, for giving is Ellie.

The clerk, Eric, rambled on and on about their WiFi being down so he needed to do the credit card transaction on his phone. When he asked me to sign on his phone screen, I saw that the screen itself was filthy dirty. He didn't offer any sort of writing item like a pen. He told me to use my finger to sign. I told him that I didn't want to touch his screen. When the transaction was finished, I asked him how I would tip the groomer. He said he'd have to do the credit card over again. I told him that was fine since I didn't have any cash and I thought it was important to tip the groomer. As I handed my card to him a second time, he remarked about how he and I had both touched the same credit card even though I hadn't wanted to touch his phone screen. He actually thought it was a clever zinger to show me how up on front of the other two employees. When I asked him about this, he got upset quickly. I asked a nearby employee if he was the owner. She replied very animatedly that he was her dad. He refused to finish the transaction to give a tip for the groomer. I have no idea if she got a tip from him or not. I do not think that anyone with such reckless regard for what should have been a basic and smooth customer interaction should be trusted with anyone's pets. The pets cannot speak up for themselves if they are the subject of any abuse. Based on Eric's undignified treatment of a customer settling a $110 grooming bill, it concerns me how the animals might be handled. Lisa Marie's grooming of my dogs has always been impeccable. I hope she is valued by the management and that she can find a place that treats customers nicer.

She has since become incontinent as well, the combination of which makes her quite the prize for a dog grooming place. All of that was to preface the fact that Save Me From the Dog House did an excellent job with her oatmeal bath and blow-dry-- no judgements, annoyed behavior, or pitying stares, and no terrified pug returned to me afterward. The staff there was very friendly and inviting, especially Hercules, the Great Dane/receptionist. I think we've found our monthly stop for Pixie's bathing needs.
