Long post but very necessary! I had the WORST experience EVER at Pause 4 Paws this week. Let me…read morefirst of all say we are fairly new pet owners. We were referred to Pause 4 Paws by our neighbors and have taken our dog there on 3-4 occasions. The service has always been great up until this week. You can tell a lot about a person's character when something goes wrong. Especially if it's their fault. As long as things are progressing well, no problem.... but let a mistake occur! We have an 8 year old Cockapoo named Prince. The last time Prince was groomed at Pause 4 Paws, I indicated I wanted the bottom portion of his legs to remain furry. As mentioned, we're new pet owners and are still learning terminology. Needless to say, I was told these were called Pom boots. When I picked Prince up, I was told he didn't have enough hair for the Pom boots but would be in a better place the next time I brought him in. The owner, Eddie, said they started the process of developing them. I understood and was satisfied. Fast forward. We let our dog's hair grow out for weeks so we could get the Pom boots. I took Prince back to Pause 4 Paws this week. The lady at the front desk asked if I wanted the same cut that Prince received during the last visit and I told her no. I showed her a picture of Prince when we first got him, to illustrate how low I wanted his hair cut this go round. I told her I wanted his head to remain furry but to trim the hair down a bit in his face because his hair was starting to grow over his eyes. She said this was a "top knot" and "puppy dog face" cut. Still learning terms...I said okay. Then I told her I wanted the bottom portion of his legs to remain furry. She reminded me these were Pom boots. She entered everything in the system and repeated everything I requested verbatim. She then proceeds to say she doesn't think Prince's paws would look right exposed-cut extremely low. I agreed with her and told her not to have the hair on his paws cut low. In my mind, the Pom boots would extend up to his nails. Here's where the train wreck occurs. I arrive to pick Prince up and the cut is NOTHING like I requested. His hair is cut low all over...all the way down to his paws!! No furry head, no Pom boots! I stood there in complete disgust asking what happened to my dog and why they didn't do as I asked. The owner grabbed a printout and told me they did as I requested, then proceeds to show me what was printed on the paper. I disagreed and repeated my request. He insisted my request was not entered in the system as stated and therefore was not communicated to the groomer. I told him the lady at the front entered my request and repeated it to me before I left. In anger, again I asked what happened. He showed me the paper again and said what I requested was not listed. He proceeds to say there must have been a miscommunication. I asked for my money back but he said no, indicating they bathed my dog and I had to pay the grooming cost. At this point, I was PISSED because I paid for something I didn't ask for. He said if I did get my money back, it wouldn't come from him. It would have to come out of the pocket of the lady who entered the request. Horrible!! Later that evening, the lady who entered the request called me. I asked her what happened and she said she honestly didn't know, explaining she entered everything in the system just as I requested. The top knot request was listed. The only miscommunication was related to the Pom boots. She figured since I said I didn't want the paws cut low then this meant I didn't want the Pom boots. I told her we grew Prince's hair out for weeks and this definitely was not the case. She was very apologetic, which I appreciated. She also apologized on behalf of the establishment for the mixup. In closing, I realize mistakes happen. I get it. My problem with the owner is despite the fact I was extremely upset, he never took the time to apologize. Not once. I would have handled the situation a whole lot better had he said, "We made a mistake and for that I apologize. How can I make this right?" He could have offered a percentage off a future service or something. Didn't happen. It was very unprofessional and insensitive for him to tell me the lady at the front would have to refund me out of her pocket since she entered the request! I attempted to reach out to Eddie yesterday morning to discuss my experience. He told the lady at the front to tell me he would call me back but of course that never happened. Customers are key for a company's success. Eddie's response to my situation clearly indicated he could care less about my business. That's why I will NEVER take my dog back to Pause 4 Paws! Existing customers, hopefully there's never a mixup with your request. I would hate for Eddie to reveal his true colors to you as well. Posting pics of Prince. Posting a pic taken the day before the appointment and two additional to illustrate the catastrophe.
