My mother and I have worked extensively with all kinds of animals. We have the most experience with…read moredogs and have had both show quality and rescue dogs as family pets. I've seen both sides of the spectrum from the glamorous to the horrific. With that being said, I don't judge people who go to RESPONSIBLE breeders for animals; however, I strongly urge everyone to consider rescuing an animal from a shelter or group if you don't absolutely NEED a designer dog. I also advocate for looking beyond your local shelter to find your next furry family member. At the beginning of the year I was looking for a dog. I had something in mind, but was open to other possibilities. I was trying to find a Boxer-mix, something that would have a short coat, wouldn't shed and wouldn't drool a lot. Barnesville Ga Pound Pups was posting animals for adoption via Facebook in an effort to bring attention to pets waiting for a home in a shelter with a ridiculously high kill rate - many people dispose of unwanted dogs in the rural area and often times when people call the authorities about stray dogs they are told to just shoot them - Animal Control and the Humane Society are really the only places these animals have to go and their chances are slim in the overflowing shelter. Adoption primarily relies on the work of volunteers taking the dogs out to adoption events. Back to my story. I was on the hunt for the perfect dog and my mom happened to stumble across a picture of "Echo" while cross-posting for different dog rescue organisations. She was labeled as a Boxer-mix and the look on her face was so sad, confused and longing that it stuck with both of us. She emailed me the post and I said, "I want that dog. I have to get THAT dog." Unfortunately, we came across this listing the day after she was schedule for euthanization and we cursed the bad timing. However, my mom mentioned how sad the situation was and the woman in charge of the Facebook page told us that the Humane Society let her pull the dog out. The dog was waiting at her home and would either need to find a forever home, have another rescue claim her or she'd most likely go back and be put down. Well, because the Humane Society was so accommodating, they worked with a bunch of us through Pound Pups to get her set up for adoption so the rescue group could get her all the way from Georgia to Minnesota and to her final destination in Illinois. She was vaccinated, spayed, looked over and given a clean bill of health. Even though they have more animals than they know what to do with you can tell they take good care of all of them. The dog came to me happy and healthy. She is amazing (even though she is NOT a Boxer and sheds like crazy... sigh, oh well). I renamed her Georgia. We're snuggling as I write this. So please, please always make your first choice a shelter animal and don't be deterred by a little distance to get what you want.

I purchased a safe last Friday and told the cashier I would send someone to pick up the safe. She…read morefilled out the tag with my name and number to mark the safe sold. Today, yes a week later, my guys go to pick it up and they wouldn't give them the safe. The manager, Jessica, said that a picture of the receipt wasn't enough, they didn't hold safes for 7 days, and there wasn't a safe tagged for pickup. I called and asked if I needed to come there with the physical receipt and she said it wouldn't do any good. I explained why it had been a week since purchase due to the rain and the crew being out of town. I did tell her that I didn't think it was an issue since no one from there had called. Per her request, I gave her 10 minutes to research the issue and I called back. This conversation got no where other than they were watching the store video to see what had happened. Again, she tells me not to come to the store but I tell her I am already on my way because the situation needed to be resolved- either a safe needed to be loaded up of I needed the $855.00 back. She said okay. When I arrived at the store I stood with my guys and waited because no one would come out to discuss the situation. I even asked an associate to page her. She sent a message through her saying they were still reviewing the situation and she would be out soon. At this point, we have been dealing with the situation for over an hour. One of my guys mentioned to another sales associate the problem and after a while, she came out of the back and said that the District Manager had been called and they were going to make the situation right by giving me the safe I had purchased. After another 5 minutes, Jessica and Destiny, came from the back. Jessica asked to see my receipt and I handed it to her. She then continued to chastise me over not picking the safe up for a week and that it wasn't there policy. Again, I told her that no one told me any policies when I left the day of purchase. I asked her what she discovered on the video and she said that the safe was tagged and put in the corner. I asked if she was implying that I had already picked up the safe and was trying to steal another one? Of course she said no. I told her that the other sales associate had already told me the District Manager said to make it right so why were we still having this same discussion. Destiny spoke up and said that she was sorry for the issues and that they were going to move forward getting us the safe. Jessica spoke up again about the time it took and I asked her where did the safe go after it was put in the corner. She replied that she didn't have the time to watch 7 days of video. I told her that wasn't my problem and directed the remainder of the conversation to Destiny. Destiny was respectful, apologetic for the issue at hand and was having a hard time keeping a straight face while Jessica was intentionally being rude to me and my guys over the situation. I took my receipt back from Jessica and thanks Destiny for her help. Needless to say, I will continue to share this story with family and friends because it was completely uncalled for on so many levels. Jessica basically called me a liar, a possible thief and her chastisement of me was over the top considering the staff never told me the policy for pickup. This wasted an hour and a half of my day as well as my guys who were waiting to deliver the safe. All completely inappropriate!
