I took my baby, DUKE (German Sheppard) for day care to the Paw Pad, and absolutely loved how he came home so happy and tired from a long day of playing. Because of the great experience, and my baby being so well taken care of, I decided to leave him there when we went away for five days on Vacation. I can't even begin to express my thankfulness for how well they took care of him. He came home so happy, and I could tell he had been eating well. My "DUKE", is my life! This was the first time we have had our dog in a kennel. We looked for somewhere special where he wouldn't be locked up all day. The Paw Pad website says the dogs are walked 5 to 6 times a day and recieve 2 free hours of day care. I assumed this was everyday, but our dog didn't recieve any daycare in his 2 night stay. The first day my husband emailed to ask if there was a schedule for taking out dogs, having not seen our dog go out all day on the Webcam and was told they don't make older dogs go out. The same day at 4:50 we watched our dog bark for over 20 minutes with no one responding. After about 20 minutes he pooped in the floor. An hour later after continuing to bark my husband called and asked someone to take him out and clean up the poop. We continued to watch throughout the evening. He had a blanket and bed of his own (the beds on the sight are not at all what he had in his luxury suite), but his blanket fell off and was at the door after he nuzzled it around. The night time person let him out about 9pm, but did not put his blanket back on his bed and left it at the door. At 10:30 a person came to take his food bowl and moved the blanket to the bed after he cried and barked for over an hour. The morning he was picked up i began watching continuously from 6:35am until 10:20 when he was picked up. The only time he went out was at 9:50am when they cleaned his room. We still don't know if he actually was taken out then, but hope so. We understand we may expect more, but for $42 a night and the luxury experience they pitch, we expected more than a traditional kennel and our dog only being let out and interacted with a couple times a day. Luckily his grandma was there to check him out early do we didn't have to cut our vacation short. read more

We've left our dog there several times in the past year, overnight and for day-care. We even boarded him for a month while we were abroad. So far we've had no problems with their facility or service, and indeed, like another review said, all employees are polite and warm. We particularly like the "luxury" suite for overnight stays: not quite a suite, but a space with enough room, running water, mattress, TV, and most importantly, cameras, so we can check our baby online. read more

I took my dog here while looking for a new groomer. The person at the front desk was so rude that I took my dog and left.

I would not recommend this place. I took my dog here for boarding while we went out of town for 4 days. When we returned and got our dog back home he was so sick.! Throwing up and diarrhea. my dog had never been sick like this before. I called tI ask why this may have happened and they told me "he seemed fine while he was there". I should have went with my instincts and took him somewhere better since I already didn't like the fact that the facility is old and not the cleanest, but I have them a chance because my friend had taken her dog there before. This the worst place I have experienced. My first visit they did not brush my dog nor clip toe nails it was if he came home the way he went in . Also as I proceeded to leave from the service the front desk clerk with shoulder length black hair told me to not return because of my dog. Very disappointing and horrifying experience . read more

Just moved here a few months ago, and The Paw Pad is very close to our house, so I was hoping we could use them for puppy boarding and grooming. Unfortunately, I never found out because the only reply I got to my request for any information was "you'll just need to come in." Ummmm nope I don't just need to come in! Our two dogs are spoiled babies that are never kenneled so we were a nervous wreck making a change. The staff was very kind and reassuring before leaving them. When we returned we could tell our dogs were not stressed out and the staff really got to know our babies and treated them like their own. They truly care about the animals and that was so comforting. Definitely will be a repeat customer!! read more

I want my dogs taken care of and would pay any price to have this service. However, the size of the "suite" is so small and they weren't exercised enough. One of my dogs was extremely thirsty as well. On Sunday when you have to wait all day to pick up your dog(because they don't open until 4pm) they charge you half a day. Huh???? Then frickin open at 10am and I'll come get them!!! Also, if I'm paying more to have cameras, I should be able to see more than my dogs suite-I should be able to see the play yard as well. Then I would know if they were actually going out 5-6 times a day. We need a boarding place with indoor/outdoor runs so the dogs have more than 6 square feet of moving around space. Then I would be happy to pay $300 for a week-end! read more

We just moved to the area and needed to board our dogs over the weekend. I also paid to have them groomed. I should have taken my business elsewhere. Upon arriving the place reeked of pee and poop. Though the staff was helpful I chalked it up to coming in during the morning. When I went to pick up our dogs the smell wasn't as bad but their grooming hadn't been done and was told they would call me when they were ready. They called 3 hours later and said they would be ready in an hour. I go to pick them up an hour later and both dogs were still visibly wet, nails hadn't been trimmed, and never brushed out. Oh and despite being vaccinated they also caught kennel cough. Then the cherry on top they charged $80 more than what was quoted to us when we scheduled the stay and grooming with zero explanation as to why. Not only is our next trip canceled because we have to quarantine them but we have unnecessary vet bills now as well. read more

I've used 3 different doggie daycare and boarding facilities (outside of veterinary offices) and researched numerous locations to take care of my babies when I'm out of town. I've moved and wanted a location close to home. As far as amenities go, they are comparable to other Atlanta area facilities. But, I was bothered by at least two of Paw Pad's pricing policies that are not typical (IMHO). First, they stated $6.00 per hour for a temperament test. If you want my business, do not charge me for something that you require. I've never had to pay for one before and I've boarded different dogs during the last 10+ years. Second, when dogs are boarding, Paw Pad's fees only include 2 hours of play time with other dogs. So, my pups have to hang out in the kennel and get to listen to the other dogs play. Dogs get plenty of potty breaks (during the day) but you will need to pay extra for additional playtime. There's one other major corporation that has this policy but most other mom and pop shops don't split hairs over boarding and daycare. I urge pet parents to shop around. Paw Pad seems to be a monopoly in McDonough. read more

Pricing is very deceiving. I went into the facility a few weeks ago to meet the people and see the facility. I ask for pricing and I was told boarding was $29 for one night, and they could groom him while he was there. We dropped him off Thursday morning to spend the night and then have him groomed Friday before we picked him up in the afternoon. When my husband went to get him, we were charged $15 for a early drop off (10ish) and $15 for late pick up (5pm). Apparently their boarding times are 1pm-11am, but we were not told that and it's not in the website. So we paid $60 for one night of boarding. But he was being groomed... so how were we supposed to pick him up in the morning? If we would have picked him up at 10:59am and then turned around to drop him right back off for his grooming appointment, we would have been fine. We essentially got double charged for boarding him while he was being groomed. Apparently they also didn't make sure he went to the bathroom because he pooped in the house the second we got home (not normal for him) and then pooped 2 more times immediately after that when we got him outside. Hopefully this hasn't and won't ever happen to anyone else but it sadly happened to me. I boarded my three dogs along with my families three dogs for three nights. My last night on vacation I got a phone call at 11 pm saying my two dogs broke the gate at 8pm, one came back but one was missing since 8! the one missing was only 25lbs. I was very angry I got a phone call three hours after he went missing, with all her workers, she could have called me earlier. 24 hours of him missing, we found him on the side of the road... Not alive. Although the owner did make things right by agreeing to things I asked her to do, I Was very unhappy that I thought I was going to pay more money to stay at a "highly secured area" when I really wasn't. I ask every pet owner to please think twice before using this facility, at least make sure their gates are secure enough to where your animal cannot get out of the gate. read more

I wasn't going to leave a review but after reading several if these, I think I should. Four years ago, I left my dachshund and pug there while I attended my granddaughter's kindergarten graduation in S.C. My dachshund was 13 and it was obvious she was old with the gray on her face. When a dog is elderly care takers should know to watch them to be sure they don't over-exert themselves. I also didn't want the pug staying outside long periods because they have the smushed face and already have breathing issues. I did not pay for them to have extra outdoor time for those reasons. I paid for the nicer, bigger room and wanted them to only take them out for short times as they said they would, to use the bathroom and get a little exercise, then return to room. It was in June and very hot. I hope they kept plenty of water for dogs and provided enough shade. But the next morning I got a call from them saying my dachshund has died during the night. I heard later the pug wouldn't leave her side and they had to have someone come in and pick him up. He mourned her for a long time. The girl who called told me they looked at camera and when they opened the door and offered, she came out (she's a dog). She said they brought her back some time later and she walked in on her own. She said there was blood around her nose and/or mouth after she died. I'm thinking her heart exploded (read about that) or a heart attack. It makes me very sad I put her somewhere she wasn't carefully watched, with her age and the heat. They have a lot of teenagers who work there and I'm not sure they have the experience to be responsible for elderly dogs. The girl said she felt so bad, she sat and held her little body til the vet opened next door, to put her in freezer 'til I could pick her up. She was very sweet and it deeply saddened her. When I got there to pick up pug girl came around and hugged me. They didn't charge me. I saw owner over in the office on the computer and was a little disappointed she didn't step out to talk to me. I guess it would be hard to know what to say. But the staff couldn't have been nicer. I just think they have too many dogs with teenagers caring for them, and not monitoring close enough. And it is on the expensive side. If I was considering leaving my dog there, I'd be sure they have access to water at all times and I wouldn't put an elderly dog there. But for a healthy dog, it'd probably be fine. read more

I've been going to the Paw Pad for a few years now. My chihuahua is an only child and I love the fact that I can take him to doggy daycare to socialize. At first it was a few days per week but my work schedule changed to nights, so now it's a treat for him when Im off... Specially since the prices keep going up. This week we had one of those, and after I paid for the day they tell me they broke his food bowl and would give me $5, or I could choose one of the plastic ones they had there. They had ceramic ones with cat figurines or girly colors... My baby is a boy. This is after I already paid $25 for the day. I say no, to give me $10, it was ceramic and part of set. They tell me they can give me a $10 credit next time, well no. I just paid you, give me the money now since I have to go get him a new food bowl. They refused. Blamed me for taking a ceramic bowl. And mind you, this is me talking with the owner in the office. Honestly, I realized it was not worth it. I took semi boy/girl bowl and left. I'll use it for my cat. This is no way to thank your customers, well, if you want them to come back that is. My husband tells me it's just a bowl but it has been his bowl since he's a puppy... And yes, my baby could care less about it as long as he is fed but I care. If you are reckless about how you treat someone's property I can't imagine how you are with other things. Our Back Labrador, Lucy, LOVES The Paw Pad! After trying to find a place for her to go when we are away for long periods of time we came across The Paw Pad. We made a visit to tour the facility and meet the staff. We were amazed at the wonderful set-up of play yards, toys, boarding areas, etc. They even do grooming. The prices are VERY reasonable. Everyone we met were so friendly and just overall happy. Which is probably why the dogs are so happy there, too! Our Lucy loves it and can't wait to get there. When we bring her home at the end of the day she is so tired from all that playing she plops down and falls fast asleep. Sometimes on the way home! HA I can not imagine taking her anywhere else. In June, 2014, I boarded our 14-year-old dog there based on others' reviews and a recommendation from our vet's staff. Like others' reviews, I was impressed with the friendly staff at the Paw Pad and the cleanliness. We did not book the luxury boarding because of the cost - just a regular accommodation is $30 which is twice as much as we usually pay. When I picked our dog up, I asked the staff how she did and they said she did just fine and enjoyed playing every day. I noticed when they brought her out that her behavior wasn't normal. On the ride home, again her behavior was odd. During the ensuing two weeks, our dog failed to engaged with us, was aggressive (she bit me three times and not by accident - she actually came after me). She was no longer hose broken, and wouldn't eat for 4 days. It took a full two weeks plus for her normal behavior to begin to return. I took her to the vet who agreed that her behavior was not normal (our dog tried to bite the assistant an the vet). I researched all her symptoms, and everything pointed to abuse. I am not accusing them here because I would have no way of knowing what actually happened while she was there, but I definitely will not use them again or recommend the to anyone else. read more
