I hate having to lower previous high ratings but after giving Pet Playground several 2nd chances I will never be returning. I heard there is a new manager and that's when it went downhill, I am not sure why the turn for the worse but here is what I know, my dog came back infested with fleas after getting groomed. I am a reasonable person and I understand that maybe that one day they had a flea problem so I didn't make a huge deal of it, but next time we were there I nicely informed the lady about the flea problem we experienced on our last visit and asked if they could include the flea treatment which is $10 on my dog to ensure he doesn't catch any fleas like the last time, the lady wouldn't acknowledge that my dog caught fleas from the grooming and wouldn't override the $10 flea treatment, it's not about the money but it's about customer service and the principal, anyways I let it go and I paid for it myself and left him to be groomed. Once I picked him I couldn't believe what a bad and uneven haircut they had done. My dog is a Jack Russell Terrier, he just gets shaved, nothing fancy just a plain shave and his hair was totally uneven, hair long on one ear, uneven hair on his legs and body, it was terrible! Once he got home I had to even it out myself. My neighbor used to also take his Cocker Spaniel to Pet Playground and also experienced the flea problem and very poor grooming, he also decided to go elsewhere. read more

I have my dog's nails clipped every couple of weeks. Just moved to this area and thought I would give this place a try. They clipped the quicks which caused bleeding and yelping on both dogs and to top it off it was 10.00 per dog! I've been to many places and never paid more than $8.00 Why is a grooming school charging more than a doggy spa? Never Again! EDIT: REPLY TO MICHELLE V. Saying students don't groom or clip nails, only your two certified vet techs do doesn't speak very highly of your school or vet technicians. As a grooming school, what are your students practicing on, stuffed animals, roadkill? Or is it your highly trained vet techs screwed up so badly they caused both my dog's nails to bleed which in return I had to clean blood stains off the leather backseat in my car? I also don't have a personal picture on here nor did I mention the time & date I was in your establishment, so as for your you comment on checking your security cameras makes you sound ridiculous and desperate. I went to this "school" as a student. This was the biggest waste of my time and money. I spent $6000.00 for 300 hours of training. Even after admitting the "education" I received was totally inadequate I was forced to make the final payment in order to receive my certificate. (That's not worth the paper it's printed on) The theory portion of the "education" is watching DVD's she purchased. The hands on portion depended on if their was enough dogs for the students. (often their was not enough) After starting a job as a groomer my employer sees that my education was sub-par. Luckily for me they see my skill and eagerness to learn and are going to pay to send me to a better school. I will be filing a complaint with the BBB also. read more

I give this place 1 star just because the system does not let me to enter 0 stars. What a rude owner. I bought a groupon and when I called to make my appointment she decided to make me pay an extra $15 for the service, even if it was not explained in the groupon voucher. She was extremely rude and I just didn't feel like taking my dog there after that horrible attitude that she gave me. I called groupon to let them know about this and to try to get my money back. If you love your pet, do not take it to this horrible place. And they claim to be pet lovers? Ridiculous. Response to owner: I am a regular Groupon user. EVEN GROUPON told me that you should not charge extra since IT WAS NOT written in the Groupon! That is why I got my money back. Even if I hadn´t, I wouldn't have taken my dog there after the rude service over the phone, and the horrible customer service skills that even the owner has demonstrated. When a business makes a mistake, it is highly advised to admit to it and make the customer happy. Instead, this owner continues to justify their procedures, even if they are wrong. I am happy because now I know where not to take my girl ever! I am also happy that I didn't take her after having read the reviews about nail bleeding. read more

I feel very indifferent about this groomer. They did a decent cut on my dogs and I liked that they don't keep them in the cages. However, my dogs never... Never had fleas, and they got them from the pet playground. It was a disaster and took me forever to get the infestation out Of my home. So be weary If your pet is not on a regular flea treatment. I brought my cat in for a wash and blow dry and picked up a bald cat - without my permission!!!!! Claimed he had fleas - so she shaved him! No phone call, no flea bath - and, by the way, I use Revolution on all of my cats and they DON'T have fleas. He was upset and you can imagine how upset I was! No phone call - nothing! Of course, when I went back to complain, the groomer - Donna - denied any wrong doing, lied to my face and was nasty. She wasn't interested in picking up a phone and calling me - she just shaved my kitty - its much easier for her. The manager was nice, refunded my money, and I left still mad. read more

My friend recommended this groomer about a year and a half ago, I used to go somewhere else but it became very expensive because I have two dogs a Bichon and a Yorkie. This groomer is very reasonable and the quality of the haircut is better than what I used to get at a more expensive place. The staff has always been friendly, and very helpful. My dogs are my life and my babies and they treat both of them like their own. I am very happy with this groomer, and the best part is I never have to make an appointment and they always take me with a smiling face. This is actually a review for the business and the school. I am a recent graduate of their Professional Dog Groomer's ceritifcation program, and the experience was such a positive one for me. Rose, the manager and instructor there, was so patient with both students and dogs alike. She has extensive knowledge in all aspects of pet care and really applies them to her day-to-day to make the experience there better for everyone. I am confident in my skills now, and I am so glad I chose them for my education and training. Some really wonderful other groomers are there as well. I discovered this groomer when I was buying bait at the bait shop next door. I decided to give them a try. I'm glad I did and over a year later I am still happy with the amazing service. I usually bring my lab to them twice a month, because he is always getting into stuff. The staff is super friendly and are always greeting me with a smile. It really seems to me that they enjoy what they do. I love the bandannas that they put on max, they always seem to find one that compliments his coat color. I recommend this groomer to anyone who lives in the pompano beach area it is super convenient and right off of 14th street. read more

My dog gets very nervous when getting groomed and I've only had her grromed a couple of times in the four years I've had her. I don't like the idea of dropping her off at a shop to be let in a cage for hours before they can tend to her. This is why I tried the mobile groomer. Francesca was my dog's groomer. She was very personable, did a great job and most of all really seemed to like my dog. You can tell if people are doing something for money or because they truly enjoy it. I have an 18 year old white Himalayan cat which begins to resemble a sheep every 6 months. To make matters worse He did not react well to a change in food and had poop stuck to his butt which I could not get off. Michelle bravely took on the challenge and while very carefully, was fast to give him the best shave I have ever seen. The old cat starts to get stressed and she was very knowledgeable giving him a few "breaks" to relax and also proceeded to clean his ears like I had never seen before, and I have seen it all because I usually help holding the cat, and I never saw someone genuinely care like she does. Top Notch professional! Recommend to anyone. I have a busy schedule but felt she deserved that I sat down and took the time to give her a great review. read more

We love these guys---terrific groomers! We have 2 standard poodles so they require a fair amount of work and they always come back looking great. And, the cuts look good for well over a month. Plus, they are not crazy-expensive. They do not spend absurd lengths of time there (which happens with some groomers) so they are also very good at coordinating and scheduling their time. My only complaint might be the smell of the shampoo but that is just a personal-thing. They do a great job. The Poodles do not come home too stressed out which can happen after a long day at the groomers. They are also great at communicating with us on when the Poodles might be ready to be picked up. Alba (spelling) seems to manage it and we feel great about leaving our friends with her. We've been there multiple times and would highly recommend Pet's Playground for grooming. read more

I saw their Groupon and called them to find out exactly what the Groupon covered. I spoke with Rose who was very pleasant and took the time to explain their Groupon offer was for $15 off of $30...the grooming price is $45 so basically the Groupon brought it down to $30 so I figured I'd give them a try. When I dropped my dog off I explained that other groomers have said he nips a bit when they go near his face and Rose thanked me for giving them a heads up on that. They called me a few hours later to let me know he was ready. Evidently my dog gave them a bit of a hard time through the whole grooming process and they all took a shot at him with one student doing most of the work. I thought this can't be good and this dog is probably going to look awful. Wrong! I was pleasantly surprised.! They did a great job and I was extremely happy with the results. I would definitely go back there and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. The reason I gave them only 4 stars is because I feel that for a school their normal (non Groupon) pricing is a little high. read more

Bad first experience. (And will be the last) We had a MORNING appointment scheduled for 10 days prior to grooming date. We walked in with our small dog and was greeted in a rude, curt manner by the front desk employee. She asked "can I help you" and we told her we had an appointment. She said, for "today" in a shocking raised tone of voice way? Of course, I said yes and her first response was "well can someone pick her up when she's ready because we are trying to close early today". Then she asked did I make this appointment today? I told her to feel free to check the computer and she can see how long ago I made this appointment. My thoughts were, Hello...... I've had this appointment for 10 days or more and YOU are trying to close early? Then she was snippy and asked, well "what do you want done". I told her "I made a full grooming appointment bath, ears, nails, the usual". Her attitude and demeanor really gave me an uneasy feeling that she was just going to "get this over with" and finish as quickly as possible. The customer service in this Pet Grooming Salon surely needs to change. It is a school and I hate to think how these students are being taught in the back. If this is their attitude with a human, I hate to think about how the Dogs/Cats are being treated. I walked out and shall never return again. read more
