Let me start with letting y'all know how skittish my dog is. She's the type to hide behind me, growl at my friends, and bark at every single noise that she can't recognize. It's incredibly trying. But when we walked into Pet's Barn she was a new dog! She was immediately relaxed and came right up to the employees who got down on the floor so they could be on her level. They pet her and made her feel right at home, which is something that neeeverrr happens with her. The employees seem to really know what they're talking about, too. They were really helpful and gave great advice about dog food to another patron while I was there. They let us try on a sweater we were buying for Luna (our dog) and made sure to compliment how good she looked in it (: Also, the antlers here are CHEAP. You can end up spending $20 per antler at most pet stores -- here I got TWO for that price. Amazing. On top of that all of their products are 100% guaranteed, no questions asked. Lastly, when we were checking out they offered Luna some pig ears free of charge, just to see if she liked them. It's really nice to have that personal touch at a pet store! I don't mind spending 10 bucks on my dogs, but don't blow smoke up up people's butts by advertising discount supplies and then charging double. Every experience at Pets Barn has been satisfying for my dog and I alike! But before getting into why Pets Barn has my high praise, let me first introduce you via short biography to my dog, Luna. She's a pit bull with the timidity of a a field mouse, whose favorite past times include being skeptical of all people and environments, hiding under tables, and running away from our cat. She is usually growling, shaking, crying, or a combination of all three at once. Needless to say, it's not easy to impress her with a good time or entice her with a trip to the pet store. But, by some force of magic, Pet's Barn has made an everlasting positive impression on her, and if she's a happy customer--trust me, we can all be happy customers. When we walk through the door, the friendly staff always greets us and smiles. They have always done a fantastic job reading my dog's energy, and if she seems anxious or nervous, they have on multiple occasions got down on the floor to make Luna feel more comfortable on her level. On every trip, they have also treated Luna with some snacks from their selection of dog biscuits to help her keep her cool. Not only is the staff tender and loving to Luna, but they are also really knowledgeable about their products. They have given my partner and I some great tips and advice about food brands, toys, and more. They're big proponents of trying things out in-store, which is a mega plus, because it saves having to commit to something before realizing that it's not the best fit for your pup. In other related/phenomenal news, all of their products are 100% guaranteed and they have some of the cheapest antlers/pig ears in town. I can't speak for any other critters, but I would certainly recommend Pets Barn if you have dogs or cats. The staff is fine, helpful and mostly knowledgeable, the manager could stand to get a personality, but it is what it is. My real issue is with corporate policy. We regularly buy crickets for our leopard geckos and recently Pet's Barn knew that they were having issues with their vendor and actually changed vendors to supply crickets. We purchased 3 dozen crickets and 2 days later 95% of them were dead. I realize we are only talking about an amount less than $5.00 but I can tell you that when that happened over at Petland they made it right. I think it's time to take our steady business for our dog, fish and geckos back to Petland. read more

I've been buying my dog's food and sometimes crickets for other pets here for two years now. I've noticed customer service is often inconsistent and employees tend to turn over a lot. There have been several past employees that I have looked forward to speaking to and greeted by. However, most of them have left for some reason or another. I agree with one of the other reviewers mentioning the owner has no personality and seems to lack enthusiasm. No biggie, a lot of other great stores to choose from. read more

The worst customer service of any place I have ever been. Employees just hanging around chatting and not once asked if I needed help or offered assistance. They didn't look up or acknowledge my presence in the store. Just doing less than the bare minimum. The least I expect is a hello or how can we help you. There were three employees and none of them were helping the three customers in the store. I usually go to the Stone oak location and they offer to help me and even will carry it to my car for me. This is typically the only place I purchase my dog food. I've been going here consistently for about 3-4 years. The staff are ready to answer any questions and pretty cool. For the past 2 years they have worked with me and my company to host a pet adoption event, which has been phenomenal for the community. The line of pet food they produce offer is a bit expensive but its very comparable to other premium brands. My dog, Emma loves it plus for no extra $ they will also add supplements to it, which I have not found anywhere else. Every 6 bags of food, I get one free through their customer loyalty program. This translates, for me, to about 1 free bag of dog food per year. When I purchase the "raw food" products, specifically the "Primal" brand, they also track rewards so I'll occasionally get free bag of that stuff. My pup goes crazy for that stuff. Is it more pricey? Perhaps. But they have certain brands that are good quality and cannot be found at other places (I've looked) So I stick to this family-owned spot. Works for me!! read more

I love going here to pick up my dogs food because it's very easy to get to from my house, although there have been more than a few times where I have to remind the employees that I'm a part of their rewards program for every bag of dog food I buy. If they wanted to they'll just let the customers walk away with out getting their benefits from the reward system. Customer service isn't great here. If it wasn't so convenient for me to get there I probably wouldn't come twice a month for my pets food. read more

UPDATE on original review below: PETS BARN ownership to the rescue!!!!!!!! i am keeping the original "poor" review (which is now a 5 star) for perspective to let you know how quickly the owers responded to our crisis! Within an hour of my posting, i was contacted by the online assets manager who informed me we would be contacted immediately regarding our situation. As promised one of the owners called and i was able to let him know what happened first hand. He in turn made it possible for us to purchase the food for our boy and saved us a weekend of digestive heartache, out of town with no option in sight! Although this is not how we would have wanted it to have ended up originally as we did not want to inconvenience anyone outside the realistic store hours they were carrying at this time, we were assured there was no inconvenience and it was able to be accommodated without displacing anyone's Christmas eve, which made us feel much better being able to make our much needed purchase! Just to let everyone know, our boy has an abnormally sensitive stomach due to being hit by a car as a homeless kid. After we adopted him, it took us forever to find a food combination that would allow him to be able to eat without complications - Activa Salmon + Potato no grain is the winner and is our saving grace this weekend.
