Super friendly and knowledgeable staff and despite what some other reviews have said, they have great pricing on their products which you can't get at H-E-B for half the price. Custom making your own blend of food is amazing, our dogs love it and it's produced right here in Texas so you know it's going to be the best. read more

Since COVID-19 has hit a lot of things have been downgraded for Public Safety. Posted hours on yelp or just a little bit off as the weekday hours have diminished by an hour and a half in the evening. Albeit still in business, thankfully as they have a fantastic selection of food for all animals. read more

Was looking for a dog food few seem to carry, Purina Pro Plan small breed 34 lb bag. Unfortunately they don't either but they have tons of others and a lot of other pet supplies. They are friendly and helpful. read more

Let me start with letting y'all know how skittish my dog is. She's the type to hide behind me, growl at my friends, and bark at every single noise that she can't recognize. It's incredibly trying. But when we walked into Pet's Barn she was a new dog! She was immediately relaxed and came right up to the employees who got down on the floor so they could be on her level. They pet her and made her feel right at home, which is something that neeeverrr happens with her. The employees seem to really know what they're talking about, too. They were really helpful and gave great advice about dog food to another patron while I was there. They let us try on a sweater we were buying for Luna (our dog) and made sure to compliment how good she looked in it (: Also, the antlers here are CHEAP. You can end up spending $20 per antler at most pet stores -- here I got TWO for that price. Amazing. On top of that all of their products are 100% guaranteed, no questions asked. Lastly, when we were checking out they offered Luna some pig ears free of charge, just to see if she liked them. It's really nice to have that personal touch at a pet store! I really enjoyed my experience here and I will definitely be back. read more

Pets Barn - Storefront - Pet Stores Near Me - San Antonio, Texas

Are you kidding me? Discount pet supplies, my ass. Everything I saw here I can get at H-E-B for half the price. I don't mind spending 10 bucks on my dogs, but don't blow smoke up up people's butts by advertising discount supplies and then charging double. I walked in there, I found when I was looking for, and couldn't believe the pricing. I cannot comment on the customer service since I was in there for less than two minutes. read more

Every experience at Pets Barn has been satisfying for my dog and I alike! But before getting into why Pets Barn has my high praise, let me first introduce you via short biography to my dog, Luna. She's a pit bull with the timidity of a a field mouse, whose favorite past times include being skeptical of all people and environments, hiding under tables, and running away from our cat. She is usually growling, shaking, crying, or a combination of all three at once. Needless to say, it's not easy to impress her with a good time or entice her with a trip to the pet store. But, by some force of magic, Pet's Barn has made an everlasting positive impression on her, and if she's a happy customer--trust me, we can all be happy customers. When we walk through the door, the friendly staff always greets us and smiles. They have always done a fantastic job reading my dog's energy, and if she seems anxious or nervous, they have on multiple occasions got down on the floor to make Luna feel more comfortable on her level. On every trip, they have also treated Luna with some snacks from their selection of dog biscuits to help her keep her cool. Not only is the staff tender and loving to Luna, but they are also really knowledgeable about their products. They have given my partner and I some great tips and advice about food brands, toys, and more. They're big proponents of trying things out in-store, which is a mega plus, because it saves having to commit to something before realizing that it's not the best fit for your pup. In other related/phenomenal news, all of their products are 100% guaranteed and they have some of the cheapest antlers/pig ears in town. I can't speak for any other critters, but I would certainly recommend Pets Barn if you have dogs or cats. We have found some really dependable products and toys for both our pets, and more importantly, it's on the short list of having the Luna seal of approval. Will definitely be back! read more

The staff is fine, helpful and mostly knowledgeable, the manager could stand to get a personality, but it is what it is. My real issue is with corporate policy. We regularly buy crickets for our leopard geckos and recently Pet's Barn knew that they were having issues with their vendor and actually changed vendors to supply crickets. We purchased 3 dozen crickets and 2 days later 95% of them were dead. I realize we are only talking about an amount less than $5.00 but I can tell you that when that happened over at Petland they made it right. I think it's time to take our steady business for our dog, fish and geckos back to Petland. read more

I've been buying my dog's food and sometimes crickets for other pets here for two years now. I've noticed customer service is often inconsistent and employees tend to turn over a lot. There have been several past employees that I have looked forward to speaking to and greeted by. However, most of them have left for some reason or another. I agree with one of the other reviewers mentioning the owner has no personality and seems to lack enthusiasm. No biggie, a lot of other great stores to choose from. read more

The worst customer service of any place I have ever been. Employees just hanging around chatting and not once asked if I needed help or offered assistance. They didn't look up or acknowledge my presence in the store. Just doing less than the bare minimum. The least I expect is a hello or how can we help you. There were three employees and none of them were helping the three customers in the store. I usually go to the Stone oak location and they offer to help me and even will carry it to my car for me. They were out of my dogs food so I came here. Very sorry I did. read more

This is typically the only place I purchase my dog food. I've been going here consistently for about 3-4 years. The staff are ready to answer any questions and pretty cool. For the past 2 years they have worked with me and my company to host a pet adoption event, which has been phenomenal for the community. The line of pet food they produce offer is a bit expensive but its very comparable to other premium brands. My dog, Emma loves it plus for no extra $ they will also add supplements to it, which I have not found anywhere else. Every 6 bags of food, I get one free through their customer loyalty program. This translates, for me, to about 1 free bag of dog food per year. When I purchase the "raw food" products, specifically the "Primal" brand, they also track rewards so I'll occasionally get free bag of that stuff. My pup goes crazy for that stuff. Is it more pricey? Perhaps. But they have certain brands that are good quality and cannot be found at other places (I've looked) So I stick to this family-owned spot. Works for me!! read more

I love going here to pick up my dogs food because it's very easy to get to from my house, although there have been more than a few times where I have to remind the employees that I'm a part of their rewards program for every bag of dog food I buy. If they wanted to they'll just let the customers walk away with out getting their benefits from the reward system. Customer service isn't great here. If it wasn't so convenient for me to get there I probably wouldn't come twice a month for my pets food. read more

Very helpful and friendly. We bought a cat seat carrier for our puppy. They let us try the holder out in the car to make sure it worked and fitted in the car correctly before purchasing read more

UPDATE on original review below: PETS BARN ownership to the rescue!!!!!!!! i am keeping the original "poor" review (which is now a 5 star) for perspective to let you know how quickly the owers responded to our crisis! Within an hour of my posting, i was contacted by the online assets manager who informed me we would be contacted immediately regarding our situation. As promised one of the owners called and i was able to let him know what happened first hand. He in turn made it possible for us to purchase the food for our boy and saved us a weekend of digestive heartache, out of town with no option in sight! Although this is not how we would have wanted it to have ended up originally as we did not want to inconvenience anyone outside the realistic store hours they were carrying at this time, we were assured there was no inconvenience and it was able to be accommodated without displacing anyone's Christmas eve, which made us feel much better being able to make our much needed purchase! Just to let everyone know, our boy has an abnormally sensitive stomach due to being hit by a car as a homeless kid. After we adopted him, it took us forever to find a food combination that would allow him to be able to eat without complications - Activa Salmon + Potato no grain is the winner and is our saving grace this weekend. Thank you Ryan and Kyle, Pets Barn ownership, for helping us in the perfect-storm-bind we were in. Now THIS is good business and it saved our long-standing relationship with Pets Barn. Merry Christmas i am writing in hopes someone reads this post! we just called a few minutes after they closed for the day (not knowing they were closing at 5). we buy 3 large bags of Activa dog food for our guy for over 2 years now and thought we had 1 last bag - as we started to feed them we went to the pantry to get our last bag - we did NOT have a last bag - we called one of the stores - Blanco store - the store manager answered - her name is marlena brown - she was still there and we were MINUTES away - we desperately asked her if we rushed over if we could purchase the 3 bags - tomorrow is Christmas - no one is open and to feed him another type of food over the weekend would destroy his tummy! to make matters worse we are heading out of town tomorrow morning and were now ABSOLUTELY desperate for her help - she was at the store and we begged her to please help us - if this were a normal business day we would not have even blinked and would have waited tomorrow - delayed our trip - no problem - but the store is closed tomorrow - we are going out of town - this is the first time this has EVER happened and she would not help us - we have been loyal customers of Pets Barn because of what they offer and who they are - but after repeated no's and i just cant help you - SHE WAS AT THE STORE - we asked her to please call the owner and ask just this once if we could pay cash after they closed out the settlement - she said she couldnt help us - WE WILL NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH PETS BARN AGAIN - marlena - i want EVERY one to know a few minutes and a little grace would have saved our business with Pets Barn (we have spent $100's if not $1000's by now over 2 years) with Pets Barn - no more - EVER - we will be posting on all types of social media YOUR name and OUR experience with YOU - Merrry Christmas you horrible person - oh - if you were not prepared to help anyone - you SHOULD HAVE NEVER ANSWERED THE PHONE! - read more
