Title: Insecurity Professionalism…read more Review: I interviewed with the grooming salon manager at this location in 2024. I had two full years of grooming experience at the time, including handling large breeds, aggressive dogs, and creative grooming. Instead of being asked about safety protocols, client retention, or technique refinement, I was told my grooming photos "weren't the skill they were looking for," and advised to start over as a bather. Looking back I do definitely see things I needed to improve, but the grooms I showed were no where near needing to restart as a bather! I've since worked as the first hire for a Zooming Grooming franchise startup and have spent the past year doing house-call grooms for difficult dogs that salon groomers won't even touch. That same photo portfolio earned me multiple interviews elsewhere, praise from franchise owners, and client loyalty. It's one thing to require more experience. It's another to disguise personal insecurity and elitism as professional standards. Grooming managers should be encouraging rising talent--not gatekeeping it with vague critiques and power plays. If you're a new or self-taught groomer hoping for mentorship or advancement, be mindful of the culture here. Not all rejection is about your skills--sometimes it's about theirs.

This morning I had to rush my little Phoenix to the vet, and my heart is still tight about it…read more For the past few days, I noticed him licking his paw. I kept checking for stickers (because those things love my backyard), but I couldn't find anything. Last night I finally saw a little blood and planned to take him in today... but this morning, there was even more. The vet found the issue: one of his toenails had grown so long that it punctured into his paw. Yes--his own nail growing into his paw. I'm sick about it. What makes this worse is that Phoenix has been groomed every 6 weeks at PETCO Grooming on SE Military Drive. I've been paying good money-plus a generous tip-specifically to make sure his nails stay trimmed. Missing it once? Okay, people are human. But for a nail to grow this long, it had to be missed more than once. When I called the store, the manager didn't apologize. Not even a "sorry this happened." Just told me I should've checked. So let me say this loud and clear: I will not be returning to PETCO Grooming on SE Military. And I'm posting this so other pet parents can keep a closer eye and avoid going through this with their fur babies. Phoenix is getting treated and will be okay, thank God. But this should've never happened.

My first experience a few weeks ago was great. I went in to get her a nail trim. The staff dubbed…read more"cat whisperer" did her nails. We were a walk in. They take appointments for other services like baths etc, but nails are a walk in service. He did a really great job as it was her first trim so she also did a really great job also. I could see she wasn't stressed so I was excited to bring her back today. But today...I walk in just after 9 and wait my turn only to be told there's no one to do nails until 10. I'm walking in so I guess I could have accepted that. But she let the "cat whisperer" know I was there for a trim and he says "I don't do cats". It was very dismissive. I mouth to her, "he did it last time". She says, "he doesn't do them anymore". Ok, cool. Maybe there was an accident that he no longer does them. Maybe he was promoted from "nail trim" to "washer of the animals" only. I'm not even lowering my review because of him because honestly, after today, I wouldn't want him to anymore. If you're going to have walk in as an option, there should be someone there to handle walk ins - no matter the service. I bought something just so it wasn't a wasted trip. Basically, we (child & pet - do you know the energy that takes - jk) left the house in the rain for nothing. Just a consideration, put the times for walk ins when any service available on your website. Or! Allow us to schedule on the website cat nail trim appointments only. Hung around, went back in at 10 and again for no reason. They can't see her because the nail person, they're backed up. Ok. Just allow us to schedule so the customer doesn't waste their time. I'm only scoring 3 stars because the first time was great and also it's not the employees fault and someone did try to see if nearby stores had a cat nail trimmer.

It's Charlie Blu, the Aussie again, giving my PSA to all my 4 legged furry friends, if you are new…read moreto your forever home, go to this Petsmart on 281, for your puppy training classes. A few months ago, when I was just a tiny 4 month old pup, my parents brought me here for some basic training and it couldn't have worked out any better. You see, I was extremely shy to people and other doggies back then. My dad entered me into the basic class instead of the initial puppy class, because he saw my potential. I just needed to be with some older dogs and it worked. After my 2nd class, I was already coming out of my shell and started to play with the other doggies. By the time graduation came in week 6, I was already the top performer, or at least that is what my mum said. I quickly realized that the classes were for my parents as much as for me. We figured out how to communicate including the basic sit, down, come, leave it and walking on a leash without pulling for starters. The best thing about the classes are that you can get endless treats. Once you figure this out, doing tricks for my humans is not only fun, but tasty, too. Trainers are good, have great patience and offer makeup classes if a conflict arises. Add in the fact that the store has a wide variety of food and snacks and it became the highlight of my week. Come in and try it, and if you are on your best behavior, you might even walk away with a fluffy toy like my yellow chicken. It's great for tossing around during my nightly zoomies.
