I've been to several locations this was the worst. It's 12:25pm....I believe it's social hour at this location.....everyone is talking to themselves .....no one was helping. Came here to check out what they have for cats and their selection is very, very small. All the products in the store seem to cater to dogs and it also smelled very heavily of wet dog when I walked in, not pleasant at all. If you're looking for dog supplies, this would a good place but if you are also shopping for your cats, don't bother. They carry awful brands for cat food and the selection is just disappointing. read more

This is a very long overdue review for good reason! Back in late September 2021, I came here in hopes to find a little buddy for my new pet rat. They just so happened to have a little dumbo ear rat being sold exclusively as a pet, and the sweet lady helped me out so much getting him. She gave me a free bag of oxbow food to take him with me as well! Let me just say that this little rat has grown up to be the sweetest pet I've ever owned, and I think it has a lot to do with the short time he had here at this store. My husband and I PCS from Colorado Springs to San Antonio. We are feeding our dogs good, supplementary food to keep them healthy, active, and happy. Colorado Springs loves there animals and sells great food. So we were worried that we were not able to find a place. Luckily we did petsbarn, omg I'm so excited we found y'all!!! So they have there OWN brand that they sell called ACTIVA. My dogs love it!!!! Love love love it!!! My oldest dog he's a chihuahua and super super picky. I would never ever think he would love hard kibbles.... And You can add supplements powder to the kibbles there is sooo many to choose from And he's obsessed I soaked with a little water or goat milk to make it soft and he eats!!!! and pets barn has there own freeze dried food, you add a little sprinkle and BAM!!!!! He's munching.We have our other 2 dogs and the girls love it we are so thankful for finding you guys! You will see us more often! So I've been at this location a couple of times but only recently found out that they gave military discounts. The prices are from middle-of-the-road to a little bit higher end than the average super, gigantic, awesome, fantastic pet stores (aka Petsmart). Although there are a few things that they offer here that Petsmart does not - for me that would be a particular brand of litter for my bunny. Now that discount I mentioned earlier? Really didn't make that much of a difference on my bill. I spent about 22 bucks total and only got about a buck off the entire bill. But I guess any little bit helps, right? A couple of the employees have been a bit standoffish a time or two but I'll live. read more

I ordered food yesterday, got a call this morning saying they didn't have the protein I wanted not a big deal then showed up 30 mins and there's sign posted they are closing early at 5pm. It would've been nice for the employee to mention that this morning knowing that I would be by sometime today to pick up my food. I wasted 40 mins of my time and drove 15 miles. Maybe it's time to start ordering on Chewy Because this isn't the first negative review I have posted at the store. read more

Pros: I like that it's a smaller store so easy to navigate. The employees were helpful! My puppy made a mess and I was frantically looking for a clean up station but two employees cleaned and mopped the area for me! I apologized several times, but they were genuine with their responses that it was no big deal. Also an employee helped me choose the best dog food so that I didn't have to read alllll of the labels of the food on their wall. Lastly my cashier graciously helped me carry my 30lb bag of food to my car ( he could see I was struggling w my other items and my puppy). They have a wall full of excellent dog food- none that can be bought at department stores. Cons: First they do offer military discounts and I was told I would get it, but there was no discount on my receipt. Second, I bought dog treats for buy one get one, but the advertised price was about $3 cheaper than what it rang up as. I could have pointed out these errors after I realized it in my car, but its not something I enjoy doing so I left it alone. read more

I love this store because as soon as you walk in there is a unique pleasant smell. Very clean and workers are friendly. My only concern is the animals being sold are in poor condition. To be more specific the medium rats cage is so disgusting and the rats are crammed what really worried me is that their water bottle was on the ground and the rats seemed thirsty while the employees were on their phones goofing around... read more

I like to support local business so I now buy my dogs food here. I am always greeted or asked if I need help. I buy the activa dog food and my German shepherd loves it. I love that it is buy 2 get 1 free even on the large 15 pound bags. They had a deal this month too were you get a pound of dog biscuits free with a bag of activa dog food. They had all kids of flavors I'm sure my boy loved although he's not exactly a picky eater:P They also have a military discount! read more

Yes, it's a bit of a drive if you don't live in this area, however it's locally owned and operated. During the dog food recalls I didn't have to worry because none of the products purchased here were affected. They have their factory in Texas so you are supporting Texas jobs. The dry dog food section lists the protein content, so you can make an educated decision on what to purchase. They carry the Merrick brand wet dog food, which is made with organic ingredients. My dogs love it, especially the "wing-a-ling" that actually has softened chicken wings in it. The people are always caring and help me carry the gigantic bags of dry food out to my car. They have an organic selection of cat food, and they have cedar litter if you don't like the sand/pellet kind. I like shopping here because I like the idea of supporting a local company rather than some big box store, and I like the selection they carry for my pets. read more

The place is pretty middle of the road. Staff seem knowledgeable about fish. However, when fact checked the staff was a little miss informed. Also, every time I've been in all the staff is clustered around the cash register. Sometimes you have to go up and ask for help. Prices are middle of the road like the store. Sometime you can find a better deal here. Sometimes it is even worth the gas if you don't live in the area. To be expected...selection is middle of the road. Fish selection is lacking. When you look at fish it seems the owner uses the store as his/hers personal aquarium. There are two or three tanks that are for show. The salt and freshwater selection are sad. read more

UPDATE to this original review below: PETS BARN ownership to the rescue!!!!!!!! i am writing to let you know how quickly the owners responded to our crisis! Within an hour of posting our plea for help, i was contacted by the online assets manager who informed me we would be contacted immediately regarding our situation. As promised one of the owners called, and i was able to let him know what happened first hand. He in turn made it possible for us to purchase the food for our boy and saved us a weekend of digestive heartache, out of town with no option in sight! Although this is not how we would have wanted it to have ended up originally as we did not want to inconvenience anyone outside the realistic store hours they were carrying at this time (we were minutes behind in trying to get to a store to buy our Activa food for our boy - store had closed early and manager could not help us), we were assured there was no inconvenience and it was able to be accommodated without displacing anyone's Christmas eve, which made us feel much better being able to make our much needed purchase! Just to let everyone know, our boy has an abnormally sensitive stomach due to being hit by a car as a homeless kid. After we adopted him, it took us forever to find a food combination that would allow him to be able to eat without complications - Activa Salmon + Potato no grain is the winner and is our saving grace this weekend. Thank you Ryan and Kyle, Pets Barn ownership, for helping us in the perfect-storm-bind we were in. Now THIS is good business and it saved our long-standing relationship with Pets Barn.
