The hours are unknown, if you can get into the front entrance you'll see three girls sitting behind computers while dogs are crying and barking needing to be let out for their BASIC NEEDS which is sickening. These staff members are paid! We see the few volunteers doing most of the work..:(( If you try to make an appointment on their "Closed "days which is basically everyday of the week except Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 12-4! OPEN 3days.. Not open Saturday or Sunday or Monday :-( A return phone call is unlikely it took 3 weeks for one of the four employees to call us back during the summer..?? This is disheartening and sad and we're posting this because something has to be done! It's been also brought to our attention that paid staff members will board their personal dogs there! And bring their dog to work! This is UNACCEPTABLE the shelter dogs need to be socialized and need to be taken care of not the employees personal dogs!! After calling them today, I now understand why and it sickens me. To know that my competence as a pet owner is in question because I live in a mobile home park is beyond offensive. I find this to be a form of discrimination based solely on the stigma of mobile home owners. I have never felt ashamed of where I live and I maintain a beautiful home that is completely pet-safe, and yet the Cortland SPCA will not allow me to adopt one of their animals because of what reason? A predetermined stigma against the home I choose to live in. How can the Cortland SPCA judge whether I am a fit pet owner just from where I live? They can't. I feel sorry for any eager pet owners looking to adopt a new member into their life that happen to live in a mobile home and go looking at the Cortland SPCA. Animals are not being given the chance to be accepted into loving and caring families because of their preconceived notion of a "fit" home.

Pampered Pets is my go-to local pet store. It's super conveniently located for me as a student,…read moresince it is literally 20' from the bus stop at the mall. The best part about this place is the staff though. They're super knowledgeable and have taught me about just about every animal in the store at this point (I go a lot..). They've got reasonably priced merchandise (just about every other place's prices, and comparable to online buying at points) and really care about their animals. Staff are always walking around holding something, socializing to get them to enjoy people and letting the animal get out of its cage. There's a very good selection of pets for a small mall store. There's a decently sized fish section, finches to parakeets, rats to hamsters, geckos to pythons, hermit crabs to axolotls, almost always rabbits and guinea pigs, sometimes kittens, and even a few stranger things, like degus, hedgehogs, and ferrets. I bought my mini lop rabbit here and he's been a dream to take care of. I've never owned a rabbit and the staff is very good about easing my concerns and answering questions when I come in (and figuring out his finicky eating habits). They give you an awesome deal when you get a rabbit, and I'm assuming other caged animals- you get to purchase a kit if you want, which is a cage you choose filled with stuff you need like food, bedding, and a water bottle, everything in there being on the employee discount (15%). You can take things out you don't want or switch them out for other things you want (different brand, bedding type, etc). They also clip nails for free whenever you bring your pet in! Overall a great store I recommend to everyone. Fun even just for visits.

I don't agree with keeping him in the store (he does get to come out of his cage for a spell when the store closes) but Gene, the owner, believes that the bird, who he rescued 17 years ago, is happier there. Overall the store has a sizable collection of retail items and sells fish, small birds, rodents, and reptiles. They also feature adoptable kittens from SPCA, who are always surrounded by boys and girls and woman, cooing over the cute babies. If I still lived in Ithaca, Pampered Pets wouldn't be my first choice for supplies, but I wouldn't avoid it altogether, either.

They offer a grooming and washing for dogs. Great variety of animals too. I think I've seen chinchillas at various reptiles birds fish, lots of fish sometimes cats, but you know all the products associated with them whether it be behavioral devices for dogs to like health things , allergy products. Everything's here and it's convenient.
