If you want a pizza with uncooked dough, cold tomato sauce and unmelted cheese come here. I've never gotten a floppier pizza or chewier dough. I've never been more turned off by pizza in my life. Ask for it well done and then well done again read more

This is some of the best pizza that I have ever eaten. It's crispy crust is a bit sweet and the cheese blend is out of this world. It is definitely the best that I have had since being in Mass. As for customer service I give them a A+++++. Again here in Mass customer service is a joke. No one cares about being courteous to their customers, but here they welcome you and thank you. They have a conversation with you. As I stood waiting for my order everyone came in and addressed the person on the register by name. That say a lot. read more

Always ordered from Lisa's but had to see what all the fuss was about with this place. Ordered at 445p, delivery came after 6pm. When I called at 6p they said they hadn't heard of my order or address. Had to point out that I ordered at grubhub before they could put 2+2 together. 20m later food arrived. If it is a Grubhub issue, don't do business with them. Only deliver through platforms that improve on your brand! read more

I picked up a small pizza from this restaurant and I can assure you I will never be going back to this establishment ever again a small pizza is $17. Opening the box was the most disappointing event to happen in my life the pizza looked horrendous, also the pizza was almost undercooked it tastes like pizza dough you buy from your local grocery store. If I could give less than 0 stars I would. read more

Great customer service and AMAZING food!!!! I highly recommend the small buffalo chicken calzone it is the best I have ever had!! One word of caution is do not get the large always get the small for some reason when you get the bigger size it isn't cooked as well and the melted cheese on top isn't done as well.... so if you need a large get two of the smalls you will not regret this decision!!! Also I have had the Greek salad with steak tips and asked for the tips to be cooked rare low and behold this place actually knows how to cook steak the tips unlike most pizza joints were cooked absolutely perfectly...... again if you like buffalo chicken get the small buffalo chicken calzone you will absolutely not be disappointed!!! Staff here I is always pleasant and polite and the young woman who normally works the counter is an absolutely delightful and helpful!!! read more

A Melrose institution! Each pizza place is Melrose has very different pizza. Petrone's pizza has a sweet sauce and has a thick base. Delicious! They have the best buffalo chicken calzone I've ever had! Steak tip dinner is yummy and their meatball sub is great! They also make great chicken soup in the colder weather. Staff is friendly and helpful. My mom was sick one time the middle of summer (when they don't make soup) and Lou went out of his way and made my mom a pot of chicken soup. Overall, a fabulous place to grab takeout. read more

In the the area for an event and had time to kill and hit them up. Awesome. Sauce is plentiful, a nice greasy cheese, as close to perfect as you can get. A touch on the expensive side, but quality like this more than makes up for it. Good enough of a pie, it would be worth the 1.25 hour drive to have again. read more

This is a great spot ! Tried the pizza and salads thus far . What you will love is the customer service -warm, friendly and kind ! Will def go back to try more items and happy to say they deliver to Malden as well. read more

Great spot! Used to go here with my dad when I was a little kid. Usually time changes all things but it looks like this place remains untouched in the kindness department. Called at 8:58PM thinking they close at 10 but I was informed they were closing at 9 on this night. STILL GOT MY CALZONE! The boys were kind enough to whip it right up and send it over! Highly recommend!!! read more

Decent, pretty average (but a little nondescript) chicken Caesar salad, not bad. The pizza is pretty good. Again not bad, but not great, run-of-the-mill. Solid but unspectacular choice read more

Yesterday, I called in an order for Petrone's chicken shish kebab dinner at 5:35. When I got to the store at 6:10, I was told there would be a wait. The order was ready 15 mins later, and the time stamp on the order was 6:10. Leonidas took the order on the phone and forgot it until I arrived. The chicken was disappointing, maybe because they hurried up the late order. Instead of cutting the meat and vegetables in kebabs, they cut long slices. Kebabs should have a charred exterior and tender, marinated center. This wasn't close. The side of rice pilaf was dry. Side salad just ok. Garlic bread was good. Plenty of chicken, but I'll cut up the leftovers and put it in soup tonight. The two stars are for the good meals they've served in the past: buffalo chicken calzones, and steak and cheese subs. I'll add back a star or two in time. read more

As we are encouraged to order take out during the covid 19 stay at home request. Ordered 2 large 2 topping pizza. They were disgusting. The place was empty. Pizzas were still doughy when I brought it home. Crust was sweet. Think somebody added sugar instead of salt. Toppings were slim. Was there a shortage of pizza toppings?? read more

I hate Petrone's for their service and food. We used to order from there pretty frequently and, one day, started getting increasingly worse food delivered to our house. It would take too long to arrive and be cold by the time it showed up. I'm not sure what they put in the food, but I always felt gross after eating it (not sure if it was fresh ingredients). One day, I ordered the meatball sub and found two long hairs baked into my sub with a few others just floating around in the sauce. It was repulsive. I called right away and let them know how terrible it was. I dumped my food and swore I would never return to Petrone's again. read more

I went here because I did not want to go to the House of Pizza. Because House of Pizza pizza is always the same. What did I get? House of Pizza pizza. The staff was rude & unfriendly. It was just a standard slice of pie, nothing special. Place is hot, stuffy, and tiny. read more

Wow I have so much to say about Petrone's. Let's just say Petrone's is not only a deli...it's a lifestyle. I went to middle/high school in Melrose and the owner, Leo watched me grow from just a saucy bun to buffalo chicken calzone or a chicken caeser salad. Wow how time flies. I go to college in San Francisco, so I don't get the luxury of having petrone's whenever I see fit. I'm not gonna lie, when I go home if it wasn't for my mom picking me up, I think the Petrone's staff would be the first to people from home I would see. The pizza is five stars there, its not too doughy not to stiff. But I can get pizza any where, what I really ache for when I'm away is the buffalo chicken calzone or the chicken caeser salad with pita bread. OK the buffalo chicken calzone, is the BEST way to eat buffalo style chicken, yes the BEST and it's only at Petrone's. The calzone is stuffed with mozzarella cheese and Buffalo style chicken, that's it. Dip it in some bleu cheese dressing... and I'm gonna say it.. it's orgasmic. Alright, so for those light dinner nights, the chicken caeser salad is the best pick. The caeser dressing if i remember correctly, Leo gets shipped from somewhere, like far away. I don't remember where he said, but it's not something to joke around about, it is the best caeser dressing I've ever had. The grilled chicken that goes on top has the perfect blend of herbs. The pita bread that is on the side, is fresh out of the oven, they bake a new batch probably every hour. You may ask why I know so much...I know because I care... I'm going home in a week and I assure you that Petrone's will be my second meal...that's a promise. Why my second meal you ask, because my flight gets in at 6:30 in the morning and Petrone's isn't open till 11am. Thank you and God speed read more

I moved to Melrose in July. Looking for a good pizza shop. My niece told me that Petrones had the best pizza and calzone's. I ordered a mushroom pizza. All I can say is DELICIOUS! I will be coming back! read more

Got takeout here one night when we weren't cooking and had to run some errands downtown. Heres the rundown: Location: Downtown Melrose Pizza joint. Looked like one table in the place. Service: Nice guys on the phone and in person. Food: Pepperoni Calzone was greasy as hell (a pool formed underneath the calzone) and was a little lacking in the cheese department. Of course it didn't stop me from eating it. The GREEK Salad was good and had excellent baked pita to go with it. French fries were average, nothing special. Price: 16 dollars, okay. My take: It was my first trip here, so to get a real good idea of whether this goes in the takeout rotation, I'll need to try it again. So far, not better than Mothers Pizza in the Highlands. read more

A solid pizza shop in the Melrose area! Food: They make a really good pizza-- we've gotten a bunch of varieties but I'm a big fan of their cheese. I haven't ever gotten sick (as other reviewers have mentioned). My boyfriend loves their stuffed pita sandwiches, and I've had their chicken caesar salad. All were tasty. Also, I have a food allergy and the staff has been very transparent and concerned about making sure that everything is safe to eat. Yay! Delivery: Granted, we're right down the street, but we've never waited longer than 45 minutes for delivery. Solid stuff! Price: Reasonable and comparable to other pizza places in the area. Cleanliness: I haven't been to the shop itself, so I can't vouch for this. Overall, I'm a happy customer! We will continue to frequent Petrone's so long as we live in Melrose! read more

If I could give zero, I would. I got food poisoning from their cheese pizza. Spent a day throwing up and felt like crap for another 2 days. What a bummer. read more

DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE!!!!!! Honestly I refuse to waste any more time or words on this place ( I cannot bring myself to say business). I ordered food tonight and had the wrong order BOTH times! Service is awful and staff is so disrespectful. The staff we're cussing right out front. Please do yourself a favor and go to another pizza place. read more

I have no idea how this place has mediocre reviews, if your looking for take out you can't go wrong here! I do admit, 9x out of 10 I get something buffalo chicken related. The buffalo chicken salad is by far the best deal in town and I have no idea how they make their chicken so good. I have eaten ALOT of buffalo chicken and Petrones is at the top of my lost. But something else that makes this place stand out even more is the staff, it's not really necessary to have amazing customer service if your delivering pizza but Petrones has by far the best people running their store. They are quick, and extremely accommodating and so nice! Highly recommended as I frequent there quite a bit :) read more

Rude staff! The young woman that works the front and answers the phone is incredibly rude and condescending. Wouldn't allow me to speak to a manager when I called with a concern. Laughed at me when I asked! The food is okay, but you are way better off going to Melrose House of Pizza where staff is super friendly and food is great! Don't waste your time dealing with this nasty girl! read more

Petrone's has the best pitas, pizzas, and friendly service in town. I absolutely love their grilled chicken pitas, with extra honey mustard on the side, and often get their steak too garden salad. I love this place! Food is authentic Italian style subs, pizzas, wraps, etc. Leo, the owner, is so down-to-earth and kind, giving valuable advice, going out of his way for customers. Definitely one of the best family-owned restaurants I've come across since my move to Boston. I'm now a regular, and I don't say that about a lot of places. read more

Petrone's Pizza - Generous amounts of steak in the steak and onions sub with cheese - Pizza Near Me - Melrose, Massachusetts

It's nice to have a place you can rely on whenever you are in town. My wife and I lived in Melrose ten years ago and Petrone's provided many a meal. We still drop by when we are in town for their outstanding subs, reasonable prices, and friendly service. PROS You shouldn't have too many service expectations from a sub shop, but their service is noticeable here. You will also get friendly, caring service and a little conversation while you wait for your food. The subs are very good too, with very fresh ingredients. They are perfect to take with you on a hike or a road trip because they will stay fresh and still taste great several hours later. CONS One booth in the whole place. Dine out, not in. The SKINNY If you are somewhere near Melrose and you want a sub, you need to go to Petrone's. read more

Always good pizza -- tonight was no exception. Small Hawaiian. Ready on time despite being at rush hour. Pleasant service.

Absolutely disrespectful and poor poor customer service. They sent me a chicken ceaser wrap with NO ceaser dressing ?! I was eating dry chicken with dry lettuce rolled up, I called about the wrap and they told me they'd send me a NEW one. No. THEY LEFT CEASER DRESSING AT MY DOOR. THIS IS THE LAST TIME I order from this place. ITS SAD as I've been looking for a new daily wrap spot and really liked there wrap. The dressing looked like someone spit in it, ALL THIS AND THIS is not to even mention the soda BLOWING up on me after the first "chicken ceaser wrap" (with no dressing) got delivered or even a previous order that they also managed to mess up, DONT ORDER FROM THIS PLACE, all recent reviews seem like the same dang thing, I mean how hard is it to make a chicken ceaser wrap, they said something about how they were closing, so that means I had to sit there and wait for my new one, and they just threw a container of ceaser dressing on my porch rang the doorbell twice and I sh*t you not the driver pulled out of my complex so fast you would have thought it was Mario Andretti, no wonder my 20oz blew up when he first showed up. Just flat out poor customer service. BEWEAR THIS SPOT read more

In an area with tremendous competition, Petrones always delivers. I highly recommend Petrones due to the following: 1) The service is always top tier. Very well run family business that puts a serious emphasis on service. They enjoy seeing new customers and you are always greeted when entering. 2) The food is bomb. More specifically, I enjoy the consistency regardless of staff. 3) FOR ANYONE WITH ALLERGIES - Petrones is one of the few establishments that truly understands how to cater to folks with SEVERE allergies. I highly recommend Petrones as the best go to "house of pizza" type shop in the Melrose/Stoneham/Malden area! read more

This place is mostly takeout. There's not much to say about it other than it offers an excellent buffalo chicken calzone. Everything else I've tried on their menu is below average. Their subs and pizza gets 2 stars at best (sorry). It tastes like any other sub or pizza place. Just stick with the buffalo chicken calzone (5 stars) and you're good to go. read more

This place is awesome for the buffalo chicken calzones. The chicken is fresh and the combination of flavors is out of this world.

This is definitely the best pizza in Melrose! The crust is moderately thick, airy, and amazingly delicious. Always the perfect ratios of pizza:cheese:toppings. The greek salad is great too, a little iceberg-y, but good toppings, AND comes with the best ever pita bread. Try it, you will not be disappointed! Unless you're crazy and hate pizza :) read more

The pizza is pretty average in my opinion, the main reason Petrones stands out is there buffalo chicken calzone it doesn't get any better, the place has expanded so you have some room to breathe while your waiting on your order and there's a TV that always has Boston sports on it playing so you don't get bored. Bottom line: all in all the pizza is kind of average the calzone is among the best, worth a try if your in the area read more

Very poor service. I ordered a cheese pizza & French fries for delivery from my family. After waiting for over an hour for my pizza I notice a miss phone call from the pizza shop. I do not agree with their service one bit. Not recommended read more

$ 19.00 for a large pizza with two toppings and it was delivered ice cold and burnt. Place is horrible.

Three words for you: Buffalo Chicken Calzone. Honestly, the pizza isn't great and the subs are the same as anywhere else, but ooooooh those calzones. They are all delicious but the grand poobah of them all is the buff chick. It used to be something only those in the know could order, but it's become so popular that they put it on the menu. The buffalo chicken is the perfect spice level and they pack a ton of it into each calzone. The crust is what really makes this though. I don't know how they make their dough, but the crust is absolutely delicious. Get the small though, the large is made differently and the crust isn't as good. The service is always friendly and the delivery is fast. read more
