They even have a small shop section, and I found myself tempted to buy a beautiful gemstone necklace, but unfortunately, I passed it up. I decided to order a bowl, and it turned out to be absolutely delicious and refreshing. The customization options are fantastic with many options to choose from the freshest ingredients. The chicken was juicy and tender, the veggies were crisp, and the tzatziki sauce was just right! By the time I finished my bowl, I felt satisfied but not overly full. The baba ghanoush was bland and the mushrooms were rubbery, and the black olives were not very salty. The chicken flavor was also bland and tasted a bit off, but the brown rice was excellent. Service was welcoming. The salad bowl was too full to mix the dressing in. I ate about 1/4 of my order. The price was $30. It may have been a coincidence, but the next day I had severe GI upset. read more

First visit. I have to say that my husband got the Petra wrap. I took a bite and it was delicious, lots of flavor, lots of crunch. I ordered the Meze plate and what a disappointment.visually unappealing, hummus had no flavor and the consistency was quite loose, no substance. When you pile spring greens on a very small plate, like 3 pieces of pickled onions, 3 olives, and fairly generous scoop of watery hummus on top of the lettuce, really? Also 4 cucumber slices. So, I sit down and had to go back and ask for the flatbread I was supposed to get. Took a couple of bites and didn't eat any more because it was so bad. It did come with what looked like a spring roll shape of spanakopita which also had no flavor and wasn't cooked very well, no crunch. They need to go to Grass Valley at try the food at MeZe Eatery-what a difference. So flavorful and presented correctly. read more

Had the most delicious olives and hummus and appetizer plates at this restaurant. Everything is incredibly fresh and so delicious. I've never had olives that good that are that fresh! I want to say they were grown locally because they didn't look like they had been imported. The service couldn't be friendlier. The place itself is really cute and has a rustic and also contemporary vibe. There's plenty of seating in or an outdoor. I also really enjoyed their fresh lemonade that was on special. I'm an employee of this amazing restaurant and I feel so lucky to be part of a the Petra team. I don't usually write reviews, but I feel compelled to share my thoughts because I truly believe in what we're doing here, and I want this business to thrive. I've worked in a lot of places, and I've never seen this level of care and commitment. The kitchen makes everything from scratch and you can just see the quality in the food. We source all of our vegetables locally, right from Nevada County and Placer County, and they are delivered fresh every morning by local farmers that the owner has worked with for years. Our owner used to run the Grass Valley Farmers Market and has built an incredible network of farmers. This is a small, women-run business that is doing everything right, and I'm so proud to be a part of it. The focus on organic, sustainable ingredients and supporting local farmers is something that makes me excited to come to work. This is the kind of business we need in our community -- a place that supports local, cares deeply about quality, and isn't afraid to put in the hard work to make sure everything is perfect. After a weekend at Harbin, during the first snowfall this year in NC, my hubs and I went to Petra for the first time. We lived in the Bay Area for years so we know good food. And wow oh wow was Petra GOOD in every sense of the word. I'll start with their dedication to supporting local regenerative farms is impressive. It makes a Petra a restaurant that is GOOD for our community. As for food, we had the white bean soup, chicken gyro, filo cake, and tahini chocolate chip cookie. Everything was GOOD - so so so delicious. I'm salivating just thinking about the gyro... Chef Jenn never ever disappoints... I want you to know is that the pricing was very fair. Very unique way to prepare your bowl or wrap! Luckily, I had some advice from a friend who had been here a few times. All of the food is organic and local. You have many choices! You start with grain (I had quinoa), next is your main (again many choices, I picked lemon chicken and mushrooms), then choices of greens, 4 sides, dressings, and crunches! I'm leaving a review halfway through my lunch at Petra because I COULD NOT WAIT to leave this review. This restaurant is exactly what our city needed. I got a bowl with quinoa and bulgar, mushrooms and tofu, hummus and babaganoush, jalapeños and pickled onions, and green goddess dressing. EVERYTHING IS SO GOOD. The ingredients are clearly marked when they're vegan (thank you!!) and so many of them are sourced locally. The person who built my bowl was so sweet and knowledgeable. The inside is decorated beautifully and there's plenty of seating. You can get your food for here or to go - bring Tupperware because the portions are huge! I could've easily turned this bowl into two meals, but I'm gobbling it all up in one sitting. I can't wait to bring all my family and friends here to show off how special Nevada City is. read more

We have enjoyed the amazing food at Petra since it opened almost a year ago. Everything is fresh, organic and locally sourced. So the choice was very easy when it was time to select a restaurant to host my birthday dinner this past Friday night. Many of the 30 guests who attended had not had the chance to experience the delicious food prepared by Jade, the owner, and her incredible team. They were blown away. From the beautiful setup of the tables and appetizers and bar in the warm and inviting space to the flowers, everything was perfect. And the food...so so good! From the hummus, baba ganoush, muhamarra, chips and seasonal vegetables, along with warm melt in your mouth Tiropita, Traditional Greek phyllo pies filled with goat cheese with honey and walnut ---the starters were perfect. Dinner included: Greek salad, mains of Lemon oregano chicken and Braised tofu, and Spanakopita served with hot sides of Roasted squash, Cannellini beans, Quinoa and Local rice. Needless to say, everything was delicious and plates were cleaned. As I opened the door the warm aromas of quality food and spices filled my nose with delight. There were three people in line already and from my initial impression this was going to be a great meal. Taking in the surroundings I observed several people enjoying lunch in a relaxed atmosphere. The line moved as quickly as it could with the assortment of ingredients to choose from when building your own bowl or wrap. I ended up getting a wrap with brown rice, chicken, spring mix and a selection of yummy toppings.
