I popped into this location to pick up some birdseed for my cockatiel and ended up spending a little bit of time visiting with the birds. The staff was friendly and kept checking on me. They answered any questions that I had and seemed to be very knowledgeable. I was impressed at the cleanliness of the store in general and appreciated that all of the birds had fresh food. read more

In late September 2025, Petland Kingsdale sold me a dog that had highly-contagious kennel cough. Three days later, it was confirmed as pneumonia by my vet. The puppy I bought was sick and had been on antibiotics for a month - but he was not separated from other animals when he was sold to me. The Petland Kingsdale veterinarian and employees KNEW the dog had kennel cough and did not isolate him. Petland Kingsdale willingly placed this puppy in an area where he would infect other animals (and vice versa). I can only assume this is a standard practice, as the woman who sold me my dog called it a "cold" and likened it to "doggie daycare," as diseases were passed from puppy to puppy all the time. Except for the list of vaccinations, the actual medical treatment records were withheld from me until I signed the paperwork and made the purchase. The "warranty" (as if you are purchasing a washing machine) is valid only if you take your dog to their preferred vet. I view this as a flagrant conflict of interest. Also, you must purchase food items every 90 days to fulfill your end of the warranty agreement. Important to note: In the purchase agreement, Petland Kingsdale makes no guarantee that the dog is a purebred, and it does not guarantee the of the accuracy of the pedigree/lineage. They sell puppies "as-is." They require purchasers to sign a class action waiver and an arbitration agreement. Even if their puppies were NOT from puppy mills, and they gush over how wonderful their veterinarian is, I do not have faith that Petland Kingsdale and their staff are going above and beyond to exceed the paltry USDA and Ohio standards of care. I justified the purchase thinking - this is a clean store in an upper middle class suburb - the people working here are so nice - how could THIS place support such a cruel industry!?! Sadly, they do. It is heartbreaking for owners like me who feel emotionally manipulated - we only get slivers of information from sales staff and vague, nonchalant dismissals of concerns. I have always believed that concealment is a the same as lying. read more

High Pressure Tactics. Non refundable deposit, Dogs from Puppy suppliers that over bread the moms. Not AKC, COst 3 times of a healthy AKC pup from a family that socializes pup in home with family until ready for new home at 8-10 weeks. Unsocialized puppies raised in pack environment especially hunter adn protection dogs are dangerous for owners adn children, They charge 3-5 times what it cost from a reputable breeder with registered dogs. If you finance with them they will charge you even if you never get a puppy or if the puppy they try to push on you on order is substandard. Horrible experience but I did get a great AKC CHow raised in a family home socialized with children complete with early training!!! STAY AWAY FROM PETLAND read more

Puppies for sale on the spot. Not sure how buying a puppy is an "adoption." Sad to see so many gift puppies for holidays that are bought on a whim, particularly ones that are going to get very large and have big dog needs and energy. Sad emoji face for all those that will be abandoned or end up in shelters. read more

This new Petland is gorgeous, clean and beautifully done. Not too cluttered at all. I was actually amazed from the moment we walked in at how well the space was done. I don't support getting puppies from Petland, but I do sadly need puppy therapy every once in a while. This week definitely called for puppy therapy after someone totaled my beloved truck. So my husband who is allergic to animals kindly surprised me with a trip to this new Petland. I loved how clean the space was. And how there were many employees on hand to help with getting any puppy I wanted to play with. They had so many energitic puppies to choose from. They puppies gave me exactly what I needed. A little cheer me up love. If you are looking for dog / cat food, toys, clothing then this Petland is for you. Please consider rescuing a pet before purchasing one. read more

Customer service is awful, dismissive and rude, really ruins the experience coming in because it's a beautiful place, and a great selection of animals. I came in today, the place was totally empty other than one woman in a play area with a puppy. I walked in and wasn't greeted just made eye contact with. I walked around for a bit, saw a dachshund I wanted to play with, I noticed both girls were busy taking phone calls, so I was patient. I made eye contact with both of them thinking they'll be over soon. I stood there for 15 minutes waiting to get assistance, both girls had time off the phone but instead chose to just look at me and then ignore me, helping the other customer with the dog instead, I ended up walking out. Came back a few minutes later after I saw the lady they were helping walk out, so I came back in, store was empty, once again just looked at, not greeted. I decided to walk up to her instead, I asked if I could see the dachshund she said "okay" came back out with it, put it in my arms, I wasn't guided to a play area just handed me the puppy, I said thank you like anyone would do, she responded with "mhmm" and seemed annoyed that she had to do her job, then walked back to the desk. After the dog went #2 I gave her back, once again I let her know the dog had an accident and thank you for letting me play with her, again her response was "mhmm" she took back the dog and that was it. I left. Honestly so disappointed how the girls here treat customers, when one of the most important things about petland is customer service, as I used to work at a petland. This is not how we did it. read more

Absolutely terrible customer service. The girls working are consistently rude and seem so annoyed the whole time they are there. There is no attentiveness to people wanting help handling the animals or even care for the animals while they're out of the cage. They are so dismissive and rude and almost makes you wonder why they choose to work there! read more

THEY SOLD US A SICK PUPPY! I've purchased a puppy from here a few years ago and all was well. Fast forward to this past Monday, my mother and her boyfriend drove all the way from Toledo to get this new baby (Below is Phoebe). The second she got there, they "thought" they handed her the puppy they told her about as they communicated prior to the pickup. My mom got sick so her and her boyfriend went to eat next door. The second they walk in from eating dinner, they inform my mom that they handed her the "wrong" puppy. They gave her the "correct" puppy and sent the baby home with an "antibiotic". Fast forward to the next few days, my mom calls me worried because her new puppy has not eaten. I told her it's normal and that's what happened with my dog and it's due to stress because of their new environment (which you'd think the employees know since they work with puppies all day.). I told her to try and make her and and if she still doesn't eat, take her to the vet. Mind you, they have a 14 day policy which was said on behalf of the employee, that if the puppy were to visit their vets listed in paperwork, they'd be financially responsible for the vet visits within 14 days. My mom has work and I live in Arizona so I'm not able to drive all the way to Columbus. The next day my mom calls me even more upset and worried because Phoebe is now aspirating, throwing up, still not eating and has diarrhea. The soonest my mom can get her into the vet was 5:30pm today at her local vet. The doctor ran blood tests and while she is up to date and negative of parvo, her liver results are through the roof and the vet advised a $2k overnight stay to stabilize her. The vet also mentioned that the "antibiotic" that they sent her home with was actually a parasitic. Once my mom left the vet before she had to call off work, the vets Petland refers us to is NOT 24 hours which is was medically necessary of overnight care. I immediately call the store and was given a number to their corporate office. We're all on a 3way call and I have to go as I'm heading into work. After I hang up the phone, the manager from corporate tries to flip it on my mom and said she was weird for waiting 3 days and tried to make it seem like she was negligent of Phoebe. A) My mother is devastated and heartbroken as this was extremely unexpected. B) Way to make her feel worse by accusing her of neglect. The second my mom tells me about the phone call, I'm fuming. I immediately call the store and demand they reimburse us regardless of whatever vet we visit. I told them about my mom's experience with corporate and the employee agreed with the manager from corporate. She cut me off and denied that the medication was a parasitic and insisted it was an antibiotic. She does not know what she's talking about because she didn't know that puppies don't eat due to stress and I'm sure she doesn't even know the name of the medication that they sent my mother home with. I told her something needs to be figured out immediately or I will get in contact with a lawyer and file a lawsuit and she told me in exact words "Go ahead and do that. Let me know how that works out" and hangs up on me. My mom's boyfriend calls and they hang up on him too. Since they feel comfortable accusing my poor, frantic mother of neglect now I feel comfortable accusing these girls of giving my mom a sick puppy on purpose due to the first hand mixup. The professionalism is a joke here. They have absolutely 0 business working with animals! I will fight for little Phoebe and all of those puppies they neglect of their health and I will fight for my mom too because she did not deserve such a traumatic experience. It is YOUR responsibility to ensure these puppies are in exceptional health before you send them home to a family. You are to fix this asap or my lawyers will reach out to you directly. I'm giving the ultimatum and that is up to this store how this situation pans out. It's not fair to anybody in this situation. read more

We stopped in when strolling around Kingsdale because the nice large glass gives a clear view of several of the animals and it attracted the kid's attention. The shop itself looks very clean and well laid out - the animals in front included bunnies, ferrets, birds, hamsters, and the like. Along the wall is a line of puppy enclosures, and there are little "booths" where you can ask to interact with them. I appreciated that the staff greeted us but were not pushy - we aren't ready for a pet and were definitely just looking at the animals. There is plentiful parking in the shopping center lot. read more

Be careful. They opened a credit card line for me without telling me. Kate apparently didn't think it was important to mention that before doing so. I am only giving 1 star because I can't give zero. I literally told Kate that "I am not sure I am ready to own a dog, I have been thinking about it and I came here to meet the puppies and see how I feel. I love this one I am holding but I am not sure I am ready yet, and either ways it is very expensive like 5K I wouldn't do that". Kate goes like "Oh we have financing options if you fill this information for me I can check what your monthly payment would be." She made it sound like a casual thing they do to see if someone is pre-approved before purchasing, like many other stores do. So I filled the information and she told me what would be the monthly payment, and I was like okay thanks anyways I need to think about this I'll be back if I decide on doing this. Next thing I know a couple of days later I get this email saying a credit card line was opened for me !!! I called the store to see what is going on and the response I get is, and I quote, "well this is clearly on you since you signed the form, and it is written somewhere there". This is one of the shadiest experiences I have ever had. Do they actually think anyone wants to unknowingly open a credit card line ... I have no words. read more

They do not properly test and take care of their animals. We bought a 9 week old kitten and our vet discovered that she had a severe case of hookworms and roundworms. We successfully treated the worms but the kitten was weak from having them for so long and was very underweight. Because of this she also developed an upper respiratory infection. We took her to our vet several times within a week and received antibiotics, but it was too late and she became too weak and declined quickly. We rushed her to MedVet and were forced to euthanize her all in less than two weeks after adopting her. This has been absolutely traumatic for my kids. DO NOT BUY FROM PETLAND! They do not care about the health or well being of animals whatsoever. You have been warned. Please consider adopting from a shelter. read more

They recently opened this Petland, and the remodel is absolutely stunning. You feel like you are in the most luxurious pet store ever!! The animals are absolutely adorable and very well taken care of. The staff is very welcoming and overall very intellectual about every animal in the store. You can tell the staff genuinely loves taking care of animals. Working at Petland seems like a love and passion for animals not just a job! read more
