Wish I could give less than one star. I got my wheaten terrier from this PetLand and he was sick dirty and sad. I have another wheaten that came from a very reputable breeder. I paid like $1000 total for her. PetLand wants to charge up to 8 times that for some of their dogs and most of them are sold sick! It's not that difficult to ensure a dog is healthy before selling it but they definitely do not. Just to demonstrate the difference between a healthy puppy and a PetLand puppy: Side note: Leo is supposedly purebred too... When we got him he was so sad and dirty and sick and depressed. It took maybe a day for him to start smiling and he hasn't stopped since... he's very attached to my mom and gets anxious and cries when she even goes to the bathroom. Very sad. Petland is a total scam. We bought a Dachshund puppy from them and they told us it was a mini Dachshund, but it wasn't. The dog also had a broken tail. Even the Petland representative said that it was not a mini because every dog had paperwork that indicated mini or full size (ours did not have that). When we contacted PetLand, they basically said that we bought it and you are stuck with the dog. They were very unaccommodating with anything. Be very careful when you buy a pet from them. First puppy my family has had. We were skeptical about a pet store because of the bad rep they have. Unfortunately they didn't rise above the bad rep they have. From the day we brought our French bull dog home she didn't have solid stool. We were hoping it wasn't a parasite but at her "free" vet visit, we learned it was a parasite. More than likely pet land employees knew she had one. She was really skinny when we bought her too. So they tell you the dogs first vet visit is on them which is partially true. They don't cover vaccinations. They did cover the parasite stuff. So we paid another $100 for that visit. Also, they tell you they pay for them to be fixed. Also not true. We would still have to pay $300 for that too. They covered $187 of it. I don't like buying a sick dog and then being lied to. For the price we paid for her, they could have paid for everything like they said they would. I demanded interest free loan and that's probably the only good thing that came out of this other than having a sweet puppy and saving her from that place. BUYER BEWARE I went to the store because my dog was sick. The kind man named Andrew directed me to what I was looking for. I needed a pack to wrap Buddy's medicine in to trick him into taking it. Andrew showed me that the Greenies Pill Pockets came in various flavors. I picked chicken because Buddy likes chicken. I took them home and Buddy will not eat them. I gave one to Abby my well dog and she smelled and walked away. I took them back to the store with only 1 missing. They refused to refund my $9.99. Guess who was there: Andrew. I said remember me? I am truly sad that there was no pug, but that is okay. All animals are cute! It was really nice to be able to be in a room with a dog of your choice when asked. They were very sanitary, making sure that we sanitize our hands before and after playing with the dog. There are all kinds of animals ranging from guinea pigs, rats, kitties, dogs, snakes, geckos, fish, turtles, etc. There is also supplies and treats for the animals. Customer service was great and friendly. Overall, don't be afraid to play with a dog and just leave ahaha! read more

Not posting to say anything negative about the workers here, because they were all young and extremely kind to us and seemed to be very kind to the dogs as well. So, this review is solely about the store. When walking in, I immediately noticed that there were multiple puppy pins with 2 or 3 puppies that were together that were 100% not from the same litter. I understand this may sometimes be easier to do due to space, but it is extremely unsafe to do as it is so much more likely to spread disease. We saw a "mini golden doodle" who had all of it's food in the bowl, was by itself laying down, and looked extremely lethargic. It is always a little questionable when there is a full bowl of a food and a puppy has not touched it. We asked to see the puppy because I wanted to check it's nose for a fever and see if it had energy to play. The employee was extremely nice and said as soon as she had time she would get him out for us. While waiting, I walked along to look at the other puppies. In every single puppy pin there was straight liquid, mucusy stool- only one of the puppies had partially formed stool. Yes, it is normal for puppies to have diarrhea from stress (constantly being handled and from spay and neuter surgery), but straight liquid from every puppy in there is not normal. When the mini doodle was brought out to us I could immediately smell an all too familiar smell (I am a shelter worker) of Coccidia. This is contagious to your dogs at home. It is very saddening that these pets are being adopted out with this type of stool for I assume a large amount of money. It should be tested to ensure you are not purchasing a sick animal that could have something that could spread to your other animals at home, to you, or worse could end up fatal for the puppy. PLEASE be weary when thinking of getting a puppy from here. read more

I can honestly say, I will not ever shop here again. If Petland really cared about animals, they would price them so that they could find a home. Noah at Petland was amazing. Long story, but our 5 year old really wanted to hold a snake...(we have a very limited schedule with on call/off call) we called and asked and Noah said no problem. (We live about 50 min away) Noah was so helpful and informative about the snake... you could tell he really cared. He educated us and our kiddo about the care of snakes... and was happy to do it. I was in this location today. I was completely disgusted! There were kids all under the age of 5, poking at the Ferret and pinning it against the glass. They were picking it up, trying to get them to bend the way they wanted them to. I asked them to be nice, grandma was off playing on het phone. When I was a little girl, I lived for the days of getting to go to a true pet shop to see all types of animals. I've noticed over the years that we don't really have many of them left that actually sell PETS, so I have always enjoyed going in to this place to look at the assortment of cats, dogs, hamsters, birds, ferrets and even fish! I know I'm missing a few critters that they sell, but you get the idea. In addition to the furry and the scaly they also have all of the things to keep your pets happy. They sell supplies and toys, and the staff are always there to answer any questions. Now, for the smaller animals, the price is ok. But if you want a cat or a dog then I'd stick to the SPCA. You will get a lovable pet for a fraction of the cost, and you are giving them a second chance that they may not have had. If you are looking for a specific breed or something that is full blooded then give this place a shot. Unfortunately as the puppy was running through the contained area he tripped over my husbands leg and yelped. This place was way better than I thought it would be. Me and my fiancee were on our way to jungle Jim's when we decided to pop in and look at puppies. Chrissy(think I spelled that right) and Alyssa were so helpful in finding just the right pup and helping us see what our options are. Everything was clean, smelled nice and the animals were all well fed and thoroughly happy. They go through all the steps to make sure their animals come from reputable places and that they're taken care of long after they leave the kennel. Very crowded. I went to purchase a brand of dog food not found in grocery stores. After fighting my way to the back, I grabbed the food I had been looking for and headded to the front to pay. I could only see one employee helping people play with puppies. After waiting for 5 min. someone finally came to help me checkout. He did apologize for the wait. Only after taking the dog food home, and mixing it in whith what I had left of my current food did I see that the food was a month and a half expired! When I walked in this place I couldn't be certain if it was really a pet store or some kind of teenage drop-in center. I'd visited with plans to pick up some food and maybe a cat toy or two for our fuzzy little house monster, but evidently the combined youth of Fairfield had other ideas. I don't really know what was going on. The store was packed with groups of teens, some just crashed out and lounging on the floor in front of the shelves. Others were congregated around the fish tanks, more still by the live hamsters and dog bowls. By my reckoning there were 30+ kids just hanging about. I didn't feel intimidated by them, more frustrated by the fact that none of them wanted to get out of the way down any aisle or when I wanted to look at something behind them. Not sure if this is a staff or management problem but it's a terrible first impression. I just gave up trying to get near the things I needed and walked out. I doubt I will ever go in again. Before we adopted our new pooch, I loved popping in here to play with the puppies! That said, I'm not sure where they get their animals from - hopefully not puppy mills - and would never get a pet here. I stopped in the other day for some things for our new dog (who we brought home from the SPCA in Sharonville) that I wasn't able to find at Jungle Jim's. As far as their selection goes, there's not much variety because they have a limited amount of space, and stock items for dogs, cats, birds, fish, rabbits, and other pets. They have a broader variety of a smaller ranger of items than you'll find at Jungle Jim's. So it depends on what you're looking for, I guess. The service is pretty good. You can tell, even if they aren't crazy about Customer Service, that the people working there love the animals. They're a little pricier than other places. Overall, it's a good option if you're in the area and are in a pinch. But I'll probably look elsewhere next time. read more

Everything was perfect we love our puppy we got here! We overpaid over $3200 then what they probably got the dog for. I recommend going to a breeder and buying a puppy because the breeder they said they got our puppy from only charged $400. We paid quite a bit more than that. Yes they do cover your first vet visit and give you a kit with all kinds of stuff, but i am sure you could spend much less by going to a breeder. I got my beautiful puppy here but he was in a cage in the back by himself. I asked what was wrong with him and they told me he had a cold and he was almost finished with his medication he had one more day. So I took him home to find out he was still sick. The vet told me he had kennel cough. After the vet checked my little dude out they also told me he had a luxating patella which is normally due to genetic reasons. He needs to have surgery on his leg. I already paid a lot of money for my dog and no one ever told me he had these issues. Most of the pets are sick and not taken care of. DO NOT BY PUPPIES FROM HERE!!! We bought a puppy from this store April, 11. We brought her home to our other dogs and she immediately got them sick. We were told by an employee (Isaac) that these are "healthy and happy puppies" when they clearly are not. We went for the initial puppy visit and she had an ear infection. We had called the vet and told them that she may have a possible UTI. They decided to wait because it was invasive for the puppy. Then about a week later she started peeing green. But what is worse than all the things that was wrong with her, was the customer service. After everything was all said and done, we were stuck with 263 dollar vet bill. We then called the store to see if we could get the issue sorted out. I asked for the manager and was told that there was no manager there. I asked the employee why there was no manager and his response was "I don't know." I was already upset because I had called solutions to try to figure this out. Then the woman that I was on phone with has someone screaming in the background as I am trying to speak to her. I was told by the vet that I needed to call solutions and then they would call for her vet records. Instead I was informed that I had to do it myself and then give it to the vet. I love her to death but this place is selling sick, most likely puppy mill puppies to families. I will be rescuing my next puppy just like I did with my other dogs. My fiance and I purchased a "clearance puppy" from Petland in late October of 2014. This post is nothing negative at all about our pooch, our loving and rambunctious Chihaua Dobby - this is about the store/ puppy mill/ teenage hangout that is Petland. I am against pet stores that sell dogs and cats for profit but my fiance and I stopped in just to pet the animals one night and we fell in love with Dobby. Then we found out he was on "clearance" (which is completely odd, just b/c the dog was older than the other puppies he is now worth less money?!) We talked our selves out of the dog once the sales people got a little pushy about us taking him home and we started driving home. About half way home we decided we were meant to have Dobby and turned around to go purchase our pooch. The purchase process was BIZARRE! Signing my life away to take care of an animal seemed a bit much. We literally signed a half inch thick stack of papers. We had adopted a dog earlier in Spring of 2014 and all they needed was a couple signatures, 75 dollars for their organization, and our word that we would love our new furry friend forever. Petland also tried selling us a puppy training kit for an absurd amount of money, which we declined b/c I do not cage my pets. We purchased a few items from the kit separately which seemed to annoy the young sales girl. Petland informed us we would get a free neuter and a free visit to a local Vet, sounds great, but let me tell you ITS NOT! The Vet was great, it wasn't a Vet I would typically choose but the staff at the Vet was very knowledgeable and kind to us. However Petland did not let us know that pain meds and any other medication needed was in fact NOT INCLUDED in this free neuter and office visit. We paid out of pocket for these things which is not a huge deal HOWEVER it would have been nice to know. Dobby also had Giardia - which caused him to have diarrhea for the first month we had him home with us. The Vet Petland told us to visit did make Petland pay for the meds for his Giardia so that was a plus. However we still had to pay out of pocket for the overpriced vet visit fee. Petland also convinced us to buy their specially recommended puppy food which they told us Dobby loved and ate all the time. We purchased the puppy food and some puppy paste we could give him in case he went into shock from playing too much. They scared the living shit out of us that we were going to kill this puppy accidentally so we purchased both items thinking we NEEDED them. Dobby would not eat the special puppy food or the puppy paste. What he would eat is the food our other dog ate - Purina Dog Chow. We donated the food and paste to a local dog rescue figuring they could use it, but again that's money we didn't need to spend but money Petland conned us into spending. Another super awesome thing they told us was that we could have free nail trims for both of our dogs for life - we just had to bring them in to their store. BIG MISTAKE, HUGE, EPIC MISTAKE!!! Our other dog is a rescue and has a touch of pet store anxiety - normally he is a little whiney if we take him near one. He flipped his ever loving shit at Petland! Which we attributed to his pet store anxiety. He got some of his nails trimmed but they couldn't do all of his nails. Dobby was fine for his nail trim, just worried about his brother. They had us hold the dogs while they trimmed the nails and were not patient with Axel, our rescue. This all took place out in the open in the chaos of the pet store. Why they didn't take us to a private room beats me (I know the reason, it is b/c they could give a shit less about you once you have already purchased a dog). It was not a good experience and I vowed to never take either dog to Petland again. Fast forward a month later when we took Axel to the groomer - the groomer took the time to pet Axel and take a longer look at his nails. His "quick" the under part of his nail is grown out too long - due to his previous owners not grooming him regularly - and when Petland trimmed his nails they trimmed this part of the nail which caused him pain. My poor Axel, I cried when I heard this knowing I had let him be put through such a painful experience. Petland is a JOKE! All they care about is profit, not the care and well being of animals. I love Dobby and I am thrilled we found him but I would never in my life go back to Petland. They charge an absurd amount of money for these dogs which they pimp out to customers b/c they are "pure bred" and you the customer can have the dog as a show dog or a puppy hoe and have them produce litters with another of their puppy hoes. They promise you things that they cannot deliver on. They are not upfront and honest about their products, the Vet service they "include" in your puppy purchase, and they let young employees do nail trims without the proper knowledge. I am totally disappointed and upset with Petland in Fairfield. I called Saturday about a Rott Puppy and made an appointment 1st thing Sunday morning to see him. We showed up on time to see him and when they brought him out I immediately knew something was wrong with him. I have had 3 previous Rotts so I am very familiar with them. He was lethargic, labored breathing and did not interact at all. I asked one girl if he was sick and she said no just shy-I don't think so. Then Roschell(sp?) came over and she was the girl I spoke to on the phone on Saturday- she explained that in fact he was sick, they had him in the back giving him meds and breathing treatments. He had been pulled from the Window Saturday when they realized something was wrong with him. He was under vet care but she wanted me to be able to see him so she didn't call and cancel my appointment-OK I can live with that. She went on to say he would be in the back from Sunday until at least Wednesday night and he would not be allowed to go home until at least Wednesday- she suggested that I come back Wednesday evening or Thursday to see him. She told me that she would call if anyone else was interested but didn't see that happening since he was in the back. I make the appointment for 11AM Thursday (they open at 11). I show up with my husband and son to see the puppy. They bring him out- he is much better- playful, interactive, a true puppy. We talk to Julie about his bloodline, his illness, what is all included with a puppy purchase. My son was on the floor playing with him the entire time. We are discussing price when another girl mentioned that the price was minus the deposit we put down- umm excuse me-I didn't put a deposit down!? She immediately goes and gets Julie the manager who comes over and says oh well someone out a deposit down on him on Sunday evening- what?! I was here Sunday morning at 11 and I explained what I was told- no one had called me to inform me of this or I would not how come back with my son who immediately fell in love with the puppy. Julie did apologize for the confusion but that did little to make my son, husband or me feel better about having this puppy pulled out from under us. Our Rott passed away over a year ago and we finally decided we were ready for another fur baby and this happens. Poor customer service Petland. Especially from a manager-Roschell. If you say you are going to call if the dog becomes unavailable then do so. I was assured that since he was in the back being cared for my the vet he would be available and if he wasn't I would get a phone call but instead I got a puppy ripped out of my sons arm and told sorry for the mixup!!! I bought a dumpy frog from this location. After having him for 12 hours I found that his urine was blood red. For the next two days I tried to get in contact with the store. After 5 tries, they finally answered my calls telling me they would only refund me if he died within a week. For the next week I kept taking him into the vet and found out he has a bacterial infection, probably from his tank not being cleaned. For the past week he has been in overnight care at the vet, and today I have to put him down. I had him 3 WEEKS. 3 weeks of this poor little frog being sick and suffering. During his last week he hasnt been able to move . he hasnt ben able to eat at all during the three weeks I have had him. It obvious he has recieved horrible care and I was told that I could only get a refund if he died during his first week with me. DONT GO HERE. read more

Everything you need all in one place. Sometimes they do get busy with people looking at the puppies but they are always well staffed because I never have to wait. Our dogs like the Blue dog food and they have a promotion in place where you get a bag free after so many purchased. BUYER BEWARE! After reading the reviews below, My experience is identical to theirs and I could not agree more with what they said. I will NEVER reccomend store, or more importantly this owner (John M.) to anyone in search for a puppy. I bought my pup a few weeks ago so that my older pup would have a companion at home. When we bought our puppy, they told us he had a cold, and sent us home with cold meds (that were 3 weeks expired). The very next day I took my pup to the vet to be examined, where I was then told that he had ear mites. This didn't really bother me since it was easily treatable, and I had already fallen in love with my pup. Now, a few weeks later, my older pup has become extremely ill and had to be rushed to the vet the other day. After $300 in testing and vet costs, I was told she has Giardia (a highly contagious parasite). To make a long story short, my entire house (including myself) is now infected with this parasite that the puppy brought into our house from Pet land. I called numerous times to speak with the owner and left quite a few messages for him to call me back, but he never had a sense of urgency or concern for our health to pick up the phone and call me back. I decided to go into the store to try to catch him in there to discuss the issues. As soon as he came up to me, he was extremely rude, condescending, and inappropriate. I tried to explain what happened, and he cut me off saying "I don't care- just tell me what you're wanting from me" I proceeded to show him my vet bills, and explained that my pups and myself were all on medicine. He cut me off yet again, looked me up and down and laughed saying "you don't even look sick." Obviously, to a young woman, who is infected with a parasite, who has been infecting their entire house, as well as taking care of two sick pups, and rushing them to and from the vet, I was extremely upset at the remark he made. He did not care at all about the health of my family. I said "are you kidding me?!" He immediately yelled at me, saying "I'm calling security to have you removed for yelling in my store!" To make a long story short, I was so emotionally upset that I had to leave the store and my husband had to deal with him. More than recovering money from the store, I'm concerned about the well being of the innocent pups that are in the hands of a money hungery, heartless store owner who has his pocket book as first priority over the health of these pups, or the families that are bringing them home and putting their children and household at risk. PLEASE DONT BUY FROM THIS MAN!! Don't even allow your kids to play with the puppies.. This place disgusts me. I walked in and saw a girl pulling one of the bunnies by there legs. I have two rescued bunnies, two dogs, and a rescued horse. Bunnies should never be held without supervision. The small animals had no supervision as people picked them up and threw them back in the cage. The dogs were in small cages. Two to three per cage. I came in here the other day after visiting Jungle Jim's to just look around and see the animals. I already have a rabbit and had thought about getting another one. The lady there I think her name was Carrie really loved the animals and gave great customer service. I was really impressed with the information that their associates have. You can tell that everyone who works there really loves and care for all the animals. Overall I think it is a great place and has outstanding customer service. read more
