All the candies are handmade, by mom and pop - literally!

A really cute confectionery run by an actual mom and pop! The storefront is in the front section of a home. They have really creative interesting candies like glass jelly candies with some light crunch, and unique chocolate and nougat tiles. Great flavors. Definitely worth a visit even if you're just driving through Walla Walla. Get some chocolates for pairing with the wine, and cute, handmade candies perfect as gifts.

Monthly Toffee Anticipation - The sweet personalized card that's sent with every package of toffee.

I can't express how AMAZING this place is! I bought the Monthly Toffee Anticipation for my boyfriend for Christmas and he's absolutely in LOVE with their toffee. They come each month beautifully packaged with a hand written card from the owner, and the most delicious and unique toffee we've ever tasted (I usually snag a few bites for myself). It really is like he's getting a Christmas present every month. It's the best gift I've ever bought him. We're vegetarian and the owner was sweet enough to make the exception not send him the bacon one. If you know someone who loves toffee this is the best possible gift you could give them. It's so personalized, beautifully put together, and delicious I feel like I found something truly special.

Do you remember the movie Chocolat (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dLAuf4-a0I4) from a few years back? Petits Noirs totally reminds me of the Chocolatier from that movie. In the sleepy town of Milton-Freewater sits an old, simple, and cool-looking home which houses a world-class chocolate shop. I'm a sucker for joints which are out of place and cause for surprise. Petit Noirs is right on the main drag in town, and is a splash of color, creativity, and chocolate. While venturing down for some Cross-Country skiing, I happened to drive through Milton-Freewater, and this joint happened to catch my eye (well, it had been on my radar after Jacqueline Yelped about it last year). As I entered this chocolate boutique, I knew I was in for something special. The inside is lushly painted in bright blue & green. Lan Wong was behind the counter and welcomed me to her establishment. She gave me a quick rundown of all of their chocolaty creations: truffles, hot chocolate, brick/flats of chocolate, high-heel shoes made of chocolate, REAL hot chocolate, etc. The truffles are center-stage and their flavors astound and tickle. There were roughly about a dozen or so different types of chocolate to choose from. I ended up picking many of them (and using as gifts for friends). Here are some of the chocolates which caught my eye: Strawberry Champagne, Sichuan Peppercorn, Pendleton Whiskey, Fresh Fig Espresso, Lichy Rose, Passion Fruit Mango White Chocolate. These options introduce a dilemma: what to pick!? As for the actual chocolate and the taste. I like it because the flavors are subtle, complex, and metaphorical. They DO taste like their local ingredients, but I found myself being sent to other places with the flavors. Good places. While shopping around Lan served some other patrons and I some of her thick and chocolaty hot chocolate. Man! Now this was the real stuff. It isn't that watery cocoa we're all used to. This was straight up REAL hot chocolate! While Lan wrapped up chocolates for another customer I explored the boutique more. I liked the soundtrack provided (They were playing tunes from an old school iPod plopped on top of a white-painted piano). So yes, you have a classy chocolate boutique in the boonies of Milton-Freewater. You have a top quality product (Mmmm!). And you have a chance to experience something wholly unique. I highly recommend stopping on by!

The last place I would expect to find exquisite handmade truffles is the small semi-rural town of Milton-Freewater, but find them we did!

I plan to savor mine, but not until I'm in the space to appreciate it. Alexander's is definitely one such chocolate. Buy yourself even one piece. And then savor it. Enjoy.

I also got a few chocolates, like the Dubai chocolate and toffee. They were delicious! One thing that was odd to me is that they don't have expirations date. I wanted to get a few boxes of chocolate for Valentine's Day but I asked when they expire and they told me they don't expire for a while. I said if they knew when and they said no. It makes me nervous because the boxes were pre packaged and I mean.. everything has an expiration date so it made me feel weird to get so I ended up not getting the boxed chocolates. Wish they would say on the package when they made the box of chocolates and the best by date.

You get two halves of a GF English Muffin. Each half was layered with wilted spinach, a thin slice of sandwich ham (you could see the dark of the spinach through the ham), a tomato slice, the poached egg. Both halves were then covered with hollandaise and a sprinkling of parsley. Flavor-wise it was just okay. Nothing to set it over the top one way or another. It was plated on to cold plates. I watched as my plate was assembled and then sat on the counter while a single Eggs Benedict was assembled and then a Mama's Muffin sandwich was assembled. I told my table mates my Benedict has been sitting there for several minutes and it's going to be cold. Sure enough it was delivered with cold hollandaise and Luke warm egg. I asked to have it popped in the microwave to heat it up because it was cold. I think she gave it 30 seconds and then served it stating any more time might "break" the sauce. So I ate a cold eggs Benedict. I ate all the first one (then remembered to take the picture) and then ate most of the second one. Timing for cooking needs to be addressed to ensure customers receive hot food. Maybe a plate warmer would help or just serve one at a time as the plates come up. Our final party member had to wait as his was served a few minutes after the rest of us. Again, this place has a great concept and if we were just getting coffees and pastry it would have been 5 stars but for the breakfast service, there were too many bumps for more than two.

That said, I can tell you this is NOT the place to buy enchiladas. They simply did not cut it. The tortillas were too thick, they were too thick with cheese, and the taste was limited.
