Public Service Announcement: FURNITURE GALLERY OF LONG ISLAND, 607 Sunrise Highway, Bellmore, NY…read more I recently purchased a high-end Flexsteel sectional and recliner from MICHAEL ACKER, the owner of FURNITURE GALLERY OF LI located on Sunrise Highway, Bellmore. Upon delivery, I noticed that the sectional did not align at all; the top, bottom, back, and front seams were completely off. Something was clearly wrong. After Mike's unsuccessful attempt to fix the alignment, he sent an outside field technician. Based on the field technician's multiple years' experience, he deemed the sectional a "manufacturer defect" and the furniture was removed from my home within 3 weeks of initial delivery. However, Mike thought it was acceptable to withhold $500 from me, the consumer. He basically charged me a fee for "defective" furniture; something I did not cause and had absolutely no control over. When asked why I am paying anything, Mike said he delivered it, picked it up, and spent time working the issue so I should pay; something he classified as "being fair." Mind you, I took time off from work for delivery and pick up, gave his men a generous cash tip, and spent numerous hours and experienced much aggravation to address the issue. Should I be reimbursed for that? I should also mention that Mike stated that the misalignment was "normal for some sectionals" and there was really "nothing wrong." Seriously? Neither he nor the field technician could repair the problem; and his field technician deemed it "defective" (I have the final report as proof). I reached out to a VP at Flexsteel (the manufacturer) for help. They informed me that the issue was resolved between them and Furniture Gallery of LI via Flexsteel's warranty process, which supports the "manufacturer defect" claim. After learning this, I decided to revisit Mike in his store to try and resolve this and give him another chance to return my money and make things right. Needless to say, we got nowhere. I am sharing some photos and a brief video so you can view and decide for yourself. Unfortunately, it has been a horrible experience with this local merchant. I have no furniture and I am out money for no reason of my own.

He sold my wife and me very nice furniture for my in-laws new apartment for a very reasonable price. We paid only $799 for a 5-Piece Bedroom Set, and another $650 for a Sectional Sofa with Ottoman with Storage compartment! Then he only charged $150 for Delivery for all that stuff!* I could have not done better at IKEA (which is where I had planned on going that afternoon). I am so glad that my wife suggested that we check him out. The furniture did not have to be put together with screws and bolts and the such. And it was easily built in a short time frame by the guys who who delivered the stuff (who were also great). The delivery went very smooth as I had hoped. But best of all, they were clean, polite, and very personable, and they didn't even charge me extra money for going up one flight (since my elevator was down as it was being replaced with a new one). In response, I tipped them a $100 without even blinking an eye. When my in-laws arrived from Russia, and walked into their new apartment, they could have not been happier. They walked into their new bedroom to a nice full bedroom set, with a nice sectional sofa in the living room to complement their new home, their new 48" TV, and everything else that we purchased for them. Everything worked out so nicely for my family. We will remember Mark's service, the great deal that we got, and our shopping experience from the beginning to the end for years to come. I have told many of my friends about Mark, and I will refer my real estate customers to him at every given opportunity. I am confident that he will not disappoint them. After we explained to the owner what we were looking for, he grabbed a catalog off the shelf and in 2 minutes showed us exactly what we wanted. He then offered the chairs at a good price, free assembly, and free delivery within a week. True to his word. They actually look better than the chairs that originally came with the dining room set, and they fit better when pushed in because they don't have bulkier cushioning, so we're happy. They also have a huge storage area in the basement so you can reserve your fixtures months in advance before pickup. We made a 1/2 down payment so the price would remain the same or better when we went to pick it up. They will only charge you the current price if you don't make a down payment. So if it goes up, you're at a loss. They have a display area for the bulbs too, so you can see the level of brightness and whiteness/yellowness you're looking for. Their bulbs are all LED's now. They have a wide variety of fixtures and a wide variety of price ranges so it's easy for someone on a budget to find something suitable too. We got lucky and picked out four fixtures (two ceiling fans and two chandeliers) and bulbs prior to prices increasing the following month. When we went back to pick up the fixtures a few months later we saved several hundred dollars by having put 1/2 down. We could not be happier with how everything turned out! Happy shops!
