    Steamed vegetable dumplings.

Bao-chicka-wow-wow! Currently reminiscing about Petit Bao from @bao.family in Paris, France. After spending a couple hours traveling through time at the Louvre, from Ancient Greece to Italy, we came across this small joint while walking through the streets of Paris. A cool café nestled comfortably near the Louvre, Petit Bao serves Shanghai-style bao dumplings, stir fries and small bites alongside Chinese teas and Hong Kong ales. The food was incredible, from pillowy to crispy, sweet to spicy, and everything in between, every bite had our taste buds feeling spoiled. This landed amongst our top 5 favorite meals of our entire 2-week Europe trip, owed to not only the flavors but thoughtful service and highly-energetic atmosphere. [x]: favorite dishes Beating the rush by just a few minutes, our server ushered us to the last two-top by the window, where we comfortably made a home with our lunch: GOLD MUSHROOMS - oyster mushrooms from La Cabernet de La Chapelle urban farm, very crispy breadcrumbs, cumin powder. [x] XIAOLONGBAO VEGGIE STYLE - steamed bites, veggie style [x] BAOZI VEGGIE - brioche, seasonal vegetables AUBERGINES HONG SHAO - melty Chinese eggplant, secret sauce, slightly spicy The bao were our favorite dishes.

Great dumplings, super friendly service, paying by QRC code and Apple pay. You don't need much more for some lunch?

It's a small restaurant in Montparnasse, and we fortunately were able to walk right in for an early dinner. They had to pull a table back so we could scoot into a corner booth. The menu is extensive and includes wontons (raviolis), soups, and noodle dishes. Everything looked amazing and the restaurant smelled so good. We ordered the wontons as an appetizer, soup Lamen with beef, soup with shrimp dumplings, lamen with pork and Lamen with beef. We only waited about 8 minutes and steaming hot food was placed in front of us. Our entrees made it out before our appetizer but we didn't mind. Portions were very large and the noodles were chewy, fresh and delicious. We loved every item we ordered. We came back later in the trip to order takeout since the line for tables was so long. If you're in Paris, this is a must try!

Some 24 years later, the ducks and pork roasts no longer hang in the window, as they do back home in and around San Francisco. But if you love authentic, delicious dim sum, along with some unexpected but equally enjoyable noodle dishes, brochettes, and even sushi, this is the place to be. Pork buns. Chicken buns. Shrimp dumplings. Shu mai with pork or shrimp. They all have different names in French, but you can find and point at them in the window. Multiple dishes and delicacies (or "delices") by the piece or by weight. All pretty darn wonderful. Ambiance? Not much, but you won't care once you start eating. Order at the counter from the friendly, multi-lingual servers, and find a seat. Or place your order to go and let the server know if you want it heated. Choose from a selection of beers and other beverages, be pleasantly surprised at the reasonable prices, then taste a bit of New York, San Francisco, or Hong Kong, in the midst of one of the best neighborhoods in one of the world's best cities. The waiter allowed some to enter and then asked if anyone had reservations due to limited seating. No one spoke up so he seated the rest of us. He was fair in how he handled the orders once we were seated, and asked in order of who entered first. I had their cascade petit for €38 and it came with 4 tiers. We were able to customize each layer and we chose steamed buns for the top layer, pork intestines for the second, grilled meat for the third, and this sour vegetable and fish broth for the last. We grilled our own meat and ordered some additional hot pot items for the last layer. The soup is actually tasty but gets tiring when you have a large amount of it. It also wasn't the best choice if you were thinking of using it for hot pot. Overall, this was interesting and I enjoyed my meal.

(You get to choose the type of food you want, we went for the spiciest just to have a little taste of the real Chungking city in China) If you want to eat actual Chinese food, then this is the place. The only problem is the wait, even if you call in advance, you'll have to wait; and even after you're seated, you'll have to wait for the food. The place is super super crowded, and super busy. The waiters are patient although they can't keep track of things and forget you orders (Just remind them, they're nice). It's not a good place for groups since it's really small. Go with ONE other person to better enjoy the dinner!

Nevertheless, they rearranged all their existing customers in order to accomodate us! Grateful to them as well as the other diners. We were blown away by the food! Everything was very flavorful and authetnic (not like US takeout). We had a plethora of dishes included dumplings, fried tofu, eggplant, string beans, sauteed beef, fried chicken, and noodles (apologies I don't have the exact dish names as I didn't do the ordering). It was all sooo good! We also had little cakes for dessert. We ordered 3 and the owner was so kind to throw in a 4th as we couldn't settle on the flavors (matcha, mango, coconut, and espresso). I don't think they make them in-house but they're delicious nonetheless. With good food and good service, I'll definitely be back!
