I want to like this place, I really do. After all i'm a local, regular customer.
But there is a general dread that comes with going to this place. So much so, I've found myself waiting outside in order to be served by a capable member of staff, of which most of them are.
The attitude of one chap in particular reminds me exactly why small, independently run shops, lost out to big chains, customer service can go either way.
The smarmy tripe that passes for humour, makes you wonder just how hungry you thought you were before replacing it with the almost uncontainable urge to hurl over the counter.
If you think this seems a tad melodramatic, I once saw a five year old girl, not entirely impressed by his manner, put him right in his place. I felt embaressed I had not had the courage to do so myself.
Three times he's added up the price (of two objects) incorrectly and on my return made a joke about it. If I ask for something that is not priced in weight he will make me feel uncomfortable for choosing which piece I would like, and then give me the smallest?
I have good, friendly, civilized banter at my local supermarket, and they don't seem offended when I pick out the larger portion, as is my right surely?
All in all.
The meat and cheese are good (exactly what you would expect, but nothing out of the ordinary) and with the exception of one member of staff, they are all absolutely lovely. read more
