Everyone that works there is very friendly and above all, knowledgeable about the meat they are selling. I went in for a brisket, which he didn't have because they didn't like what had been delivered, which is a great sign of quality. But he worked with me on what unwanted and found a beautiful piece of chuck steak, which will certainly suit the dish. I look forward to going back here in the years to come.

I think I just got punched in the face by a sticker price. Sticker shock isn't uncommon in London,…read morebut this place takes it to new levels. Don't get me wrong; I think meat should be expensive -- eating meat is a luxury after all. But I just encountered a kilo of ribeye for £125. And I nearly swallowed my tongue. Obviously I didn't buy it. I really don't see anyone in their right mind making that purchase. Then again, this is the west side of Porotbello Road in Notting HIll. Anything's possible. These guys have really found a niche market here. There is a bit of a drought for high quality food products in this part of West London (artisan coffee shops are finally discovering this, too). They carry a good selection of the usual proteins, as well as veal and game. There's a fair number of charcuterie items, in addition to homemade meat pies and sausage rolls. I, however, went looking for chicken carcasses to make stock. The butcher kindly looked in the back to check, but informed me that all their leftovers had gone into making their own stock. Fair enough, I suppose. I've been in three times now, since it opened a few weeks ago. On the weekends, it's just too busy, and I can't be bothered to wait. But now I know I'll probably only ever be buying VERY special occasion things here. Either that, or maybe I'll just crawl up into a ball and weep about the price of living in London. And then buy meat as the farmers market instead.

My favourite butcher...!…read more They know good food. Their sausage collection is impressive, and even have options for gluten free. Super friendly and very knowledgeable. Looks expensive, is not. I would rather eat really good, local, happy meat twice a day than cheap-chucks. Amazing ice cream by the way!! Damn... Oh! Oh! Yes! And the way they cut... The way they cut is with love. Really. Just take a sec and look at these boys and girls cut. It's art. And they give stickers to little kids...and big kids.

Love this butcher…read more The staff are happy, knowledgeable, and their prices are absolutely fantastic! having bought a huge piece of pork belly enough for 4 people for 7quid, i don't think ill be getting my meat anywhere else. Even if they don't have what you're looking for in stock, you can special order most things before 4pm and get it the next day around noon (you will have to pick it up). All in all, great produce, great staff, great prices.

The boys will give you suggestions on how to cook it if you want - just be careful when you go because it can get quite busy for example on Saturday mornings.

A little too rich for me actually, but those who are true carnivores would very much enjoy it. Subtle seasoning taste to it (could've had a tad more). The butchers are very friendly, know their stuff and seem to like questions and recommendation requests. These chaps do trade/industry customers, but the store front is based on the busy walk up business by regular customers like you and me. You get a far shorter supply chain without the mass processing centres (and what can go along with that), and the meat sold here is handpicked by an expert butcher and cut in-store which delivers superior quality meat. They have a large selection of meats, and not all of it is on display, so ask if you don't see it. As you can imagine, cutting out several 'middle-men' also means all those saved margins are passed onto you. They also do sell small portions, if you want a skirt of beef, or two t-bone steaks, a single medium chicken, etc. But I've always bought in bulk (2-5kg), then divided it into single meal portions and then into the freezer, and suggest this for maximum savings and minimal trips to Smithfield Butchers. For example, large, good quality skinless, boneless chicken breasts here cost about the same as the basic brands of big name grocers which are small, pumped full of water and inferior quality. The 'steak meats' (e.g. rib eye, fillets, sirloin) are about half the price of big name grocers, and since you're buying a 1-4kg slab, you can cut your steak as thick as you want! Some of the best steaks I've had came from Smithfield Butchers, and the best Christmas Turkey ever! If you can make it to Smithfield Meat Market, this one is a no-brainer.

We lived near this butcher and they were the friendliest business around. On one occasion I rushed…read morein right before they closed hoping to purchase their delicious chicken Milanese for my daughter. They had none left and the display had been put away. One butcher proceeded to make an entire order of Milanese from scratch. And from scratch I mean he butchered a chicken, filleted the breast and breaded it. As he handed me the fresh Milanese he said it was also his daughter's favorite meal so he had to make sure my daughter had her favorite dinner. Old school values in a modern butcher. My daughter still tells this story to her friends.

As per the previous review they are increasingly selecting organic meats and boast a lot of celebrity customers. Meat is carefully selected and it is also the chosen butcher for a lot of the well off in Fulham and neighbouring Chelsea. You know a good butcher by the queues that form outside at the week-end and this one has such a queue. Not cheap but if you are looking for friendly service and quality meat this is one the best around. Good selection of pickles and chutneys and olive oil etc and they also supply game.

Started out as a butcher, but now they are more famous for their pies…read more I spotted this shop as soon as we exited the Kew Gardens station and crossed to the other side. I just HAD to walk in. They did not have any pies that were ready to eat, but I did try a sausage roll and the pastry was absolutely flakily and mouth meltingly amazing. Personally I'd like a bit more spice in my sausage, but I am in London after all and it was a good sausage. They had a variety of pies to take home to be baked, but I didn't want to carry them all over the gardens and unfortunately this shop closes at 6 (gardens close at 6:30) so I couldn't pick them up on my way back either. Maybe on a future trip when rains send me scurrying out of the gardens early??? Very friendly staff and service. UPDATE : On my last visit to Kew, I was accompanied by a friend and her 10 year old, who obviously got tired much before the park closes its gates, so I was able to stop here and buy some pies to take home. The Steak & kidney pie was awesome as were the sausage rolls. (They sell them frozen, you just need to pop them in the oven) I even picked up some fresh Cumberland sausages - Italian (sundried tomatoes, basil), a spicy version and a herby garlicky one. I roasted them in the oven with some potatoes and they came out lovely, the skins were perfect and the fat from the sausages crisped up the taters nicely.

I also think Butchers play an important role and its so much better to see the meat your eating like this than as the plastic, packaged, processed stuff in supermarkets. Pethers is such a wonderful butchers selling not just free range meat and poultry but also a selection of fine cheeses, pickles and hot sauce. The meat all looks such good quality and the smell is even appealing! (I've walked passed so many butchers in the city with stinking ill looking carcasses that it is so refreshing to find a quality place). More over, this year Pethers joined a green movement with other shops in Kew to become more ethically sound and has stopped using, or giving out plastic bags. So for the conscientious and fine meat loving carnivore this is a great place to go.
