a neon sign for pete's scoop

Good place to go for ice cream, located on "top of the hill" in Derry. Pete's Scoop offers a combined 61 flavors of hard ice cream, sugar free ice cream, frozen yogurt, and sherbet, plenty to choose from. Soft serve ice cream, waffle cones, sundaes, splits, colliders, Richie's Slush, freezes, frappes, floats also available too. The ice cream is pretty good. My favorite hard ice cream flavors are the Toll House Cookie, Banana, and Mississippi Mud. This popular summertime place has outside takeout windows, order at one window and pickup at the next window, to keep the lines moving. The prices are on the moderate side including the hard ice cream cones/cups (3 sizes at $2.75/$3.45/$3.95 before tax), large sundaes ($4.95) and brownie sundaes ($5.50). CASH ONLY. If you need some cash, there's an enclosed ATM across the road in the strip plaza.

Pretty good ice cream. They are the only place in town (that I know of) that offered peanut butter sauce. YUM!!!

Great place to hit a bucket of golf balls and grab an ice cream. Prices are reasonable and they serve Richardson's ice cream!

Numerous nutrition drink bars have been popping all over the place in the past two years, similar to the froyo shop craze 10 years ago. The Orange Leaf froyo shop was located in this same shopping center a few years ago. Similar to other healthy nutritious drink bars, they serve up an interesting good variety of protein shakes and energizing, boosted mega teas, which changes often. Shakes/smoothies are $8 plus tax. mega teas $9.17 plus tax and basic teas (not available yet) $4 plus tax. Combo pricing for both mega (or boosted) tea and smoothie/shake is $14-$15.17 plus tax, very similar pricing to other nutrition drink bars in the area. Herbalife is used in their drinks, so do your research if it is right for you. The atmosphere is inviting and with very limited seating due to the pandemic, which has a few tables and chairs and soft chairs to enjoy your crafted beverage(s). On my recent visit to Brickyard Nutrition, I decided to go with one of their shakes, a Praline French Toast Shake ($8.72), figuring since they did not offer a basic mango tea at the time of this review and I went over to Starbucks afterwards for tea. The Praline French Toast Shake was thick and refreshing, which had the flavors of a sweet cinnamon and toast in one drink and topped with cinnamon and yellow, red, brown and orange leaf candy pieces on top for fall colors. There was a slight aftertaste of the additives in my drink though. Like I mentioned, Brickyard Nutrition operates in similar fashion to other nutrition oriented tea and smoothie/shake bars, but with similar and varied creative drink offerings there. One of my friends in Upstate NY owns another nutrition drink shop which just opened over the weekend and her drink offerings are very similar.

As far as ice cream parlors go, Moo's is legendary amongst Derrians (not sure if that's a term…read moreused, but I'm going with it) for their high quality, damn near luxurious style of frozen pastries. If I could describe Moo's in only two words, they would be: quality control. Funnily enough, I rarely go here. In fact, I haven't had the Peanut Butter Cup ice cream in YEARS! I had nearly forgotten how smooth and creamy their ice cream is. The way they can make vanilla ice cream also taste peanut buttery is a feat familiar only to magicians and wizards. In other words, their stuff is just THAT good! Ultimately, I'm glad wifey talked me into coming back here on a whim. It's just that I'm hardly ever in the mood for dessert of any kind. But every once in a while....I get a sweet tooth for something with peanut butter in it. And now that my taste buds have been reminded of the elegance this ice cream effortlessly carries, I think I can manage to find an excuse to come here slightly more often. Only problem is they're mainly open during the warmer months. But....I totally get why. It's just a shame I failed to take a pic of the ice cream, since I was too lost in the abyss of ecstasy that was my sweet treat. Besides, I didn't want it to melt. Ah, well. Might remember next time. One last caveat: they don't really have their own parking lot. So, you just kinda....pull into one of the adjacent lots on either side of the place and hope you find a spot. Mildly dubious parking aside, I'm gonna give Moo's Place in Derry 5 Peanut Butter Ice Cream Cups smoother than a Milky Way out of 5.
